As a person from the Nordic fjords, I adore this song. It's such a fun cultural entry, I think it really can be appreciated by people from all over.
i seriously love this song. jaco is jaklin baghdasarian's ( the female singer's ) nickname. if you guys had added the captions to the video by clicking CC, you guys would have got the meaning of the song at once. the song tells about how society treats girls like: stay quiet, don't do this, don't do that, open this, close that, etc. so she is basically saying: hey, i am a free and independent woman, and i can do whatever i want. i'll just dance and you'll just watch. i really want this song to do well. my 12 points from Sweden to armenia. loved your reactions. thanks for the video guys.

This is my favourite song this year, ironically pretty much tied with Ulveham! I keep thinking I'd love to see Ladaniva and Gåte play together and experiment with heavier music -- I bet Jaklin's screams and growls would be incredible.

This is my favourite track this year. An old bloke down the road had a white Lada Niva. 🙂
Is this polymetric? The second time I watched this it felt like it had that weird Meshuggah push-pull and the bars seem to overlap each other. Or is it just really syncopated?
This version feels pretty simply in 12/8 to me (4 groups of 3) but an earlier live version has a more dual feel to it: that 12/8 can also be heard as 6 groups of 2, mainly because the drummer thwacks the snare on quavers 3,5,9&11 : ua-cam.com/video/Apn9LiZvmj4/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
@@andrewp3748 Thankfully I'm not the only one who felt confused by the rhythm! The reason it sounds more complex is due to the accent on the second triplet by the snare. 1 *2* 3 4 *5* 6 etc. That's what threw me off, and honestly still does when I listen to it. I can't get my head out of hearing the 2 as the 1!
@@andrewp3748 Does it switch time signatures in the chorus? It feels like the verses fall into an even number and the chorus into something odd.
@@thescoon1Theory: it's because the first "lele lele la" starts on the 2 (aka 4th quaver of a 12/8 bar) perhaps? Those arpeggios that start the whole thing off are all equal quavers so there's not much rhythmic shape before the vocals come in...
Can't say I hear that myself, but... there is that beginning bit where the traditional drum (davul / dhol?) seems to be playing a rhythm in 4/4 underneath the 12/8 trumpet figure (about the 10 second mark for 4 bars). In fact, you could interpret that 4/4 rhythm as a slow tresillo / dembow pattern, so Voyager should arguably have been drinking at that point 🙂
