- Jedi Sentinels are amazing because they do not use force powers as a crutch! Lets explore how Jedi Sentinels did not fit well into the Jedi Order but could have saved the Jedi from Order 66 with their special abilities.
Sidious believed that most of the Jedi that survived the Purge were Sentinels, because of their tendency to work on the outer rim and their ability to blend in with normal society.
I could imagine a Jedi sentinal specializing in hyperspace navigation found a way to hide the order on a secret route to a remote planet
I wish that the Jedi Sentinels were more common in the Jedi Order (aside from Luke's as he noted that many in his order naturally fell into the category, especially those of the first class, due to having lived normal lives before joining), in part because of one of Kreia's quotes about the force in KOTOR 2: "Take the greatest Jedi Knight, strip away the Force, and what remains? They rely upon it, depend upon it. More than they know." which is seen time and again in Legends where non force sensitives see things that (in part) are shrouded using dark side techniques targeted at the Jedi.
Cal Kestis definitely fits into the group. Not fully focused on either the force or combat, and possessing many non-jedi abilaties, as he is also a mechanic.

@@Spartan3D213 he was still but a Padawan when Order 66 went down, usually it is after attaining Knighthood that the differing branches open to the Jedi as Guardian, Consular, or Sentinel. But unfortunately, during the era of the Ruusan Reformation: The Sentinels were all phased out and decommissioned as an official branch to be instead rebranded as the Temple Guards.
@@0hvist well that's disappointing, seems like competency is shunned in the star wars universe. Why do the Jedi think that just because the sith were not around doesn't mean darkness still exist, it's like they ignore it. It's like Kreia criticized the Jedi masters for not doing anything to help in Narshada or other places darkness prevailed. They seem to only act when darkness reaches them and simply ignore everyone else who's affected unless it was a republic senator or directed by the chancellor.

They could possibly have stopped the purge if they had been spying on their own people as well the enemy. I feel they would be more powerful than the regular Jedi would admit. Maybe even exhibit more unusual powers than the usual Jedi. Definitely not weak.
They start out as temple guards. Essentially they can't wrangle up a unruly Jedi Master if they were weak. They would be stronger because they did not rely on the force as much as the other Jedi. They work smarter not harder. If the other Jedi had any street smarts and possibly other family or friends (attachments), more Jedi would be alive. The Jedi just relied on The Force too much. Maybe the survivors will learn.
I agree. Whereas jedi guardians or counselors continued to train the ways of the force their entire careers after becoming knights, the sentinels force training for most part, took place until the time they became jedi knights, then focused elsewhere. Once becoming knights they specialized in many different kinds of non force related occupations, yet using their former force training as jedi to rise to the top of their chosen professions

In my Star Wars Novel my main character is a Jedi Sentinel with an Orange Lightsaber.
Jordan Mars also has a double bladed lightsaber, one side Gold the other side Black.

I think the sentinels had powers not related, but sometimes similar to, the force
E.g. barely connected to the force, but extremely high natural luck, literally measurable. Or they had ability to manipulate reality (aka they have magic), like a Dr Strange type of situation.

I thought I recognized the voice. It took about five minutes longer FASA Star Trek. I have to ask did you ever have a chance to play Mayfair games D6, Star Wars RPG? Can you imagine how awesome that game would be if you added to three Jedi classes of Guardian, counsellor, or Sentinel Jedi?
