I've been using the playlist feature to make sure they go in order. They do a pretty good job of creating playlists. Would love Episode numbers in addition.
Just a word out to Dave and PT. I like the direction that you are going for this build. It is nice to see cars that have been looked after and returned to its original state for a more practical use. Not every car is a race car. I would sure prefer to buy a stock Supra that has a video log of the work done to it than buy one that is half modified and not enjoyable. Manual is great to be sure however sometimes it is nice to just cruise around with your mates in an Automatic. Keep it Factory Fresh! 👍👍
Given that you're going for an oem+ look on the beater supra, I'd love to see an upgraded side mount intercooler (or even the stock one from the red supra) , so you can properly run the electronic lip. I've never seen one in action and I'm sure a lot of people would love to see how it looks and works (prob not happening but here's hoping 🤞)
@ivebeen Not very impressive to look at, but you notice the difference when it's working. I had to re-wire mine to get it going and it made a difference at motorway speeds - noticeably more stable!
Watching and typing. Cd009 would’ve been perfect as that’s what I use currently with a gktech shifter and Collins stage 4 kit. No tunnel mods from auto-stick, only thing really complicated is the speed sensor wiring and figuring that out. With a standalone 123 otherwise the Dakota box is a PITA. Either way good content and explaining. The R154 will hold but to get it in the car is a PITA with the tunnel mod 😪. Good choice staying auto i tuned my JDM supra modified (billet wheels steel turbines) twins with auto to 480. GL man staying tuned
@@BjornFSE yes, without removing the auto tunnel at all with the GKtech shifter. It mounts perfectly centered. With let’s say a cd999 shifter or Collins you have to cut the tunnel or replace it. But again with the gktech shifter(which I love) no chopping needed
High idle is most likely vacuum line related, air entry or idle control solenoid. I assume you did but, did you disconnected the battery? Since it was started with the monstrous setup before, it could have just gone of the roof with the parameters. As for the misfire, maybe there was way too much unburnt gas still Loving these ones!

I had my A340 shift kitted with an MV automatics 1.5 shift kit. Worth it if you're keeping the auto. All it requires is a valve body change. I had two JZZ30's, one with a V160 and heavily modified, the other with the auto as my daily driver. I've since upgraded my daily to an IS350 F sport, and still have the V160 equipped JZZ30 with vvti.
I bought Evil Energy oil catch can and radiator overflow and was really surprised by the quality for the price. Obviously you get cheap hose and clamps and mounts, but they are both 100% complete kits with everything you need. Really impressed.
A lot of times it's the tired old ignition coils and igniter that are the culprit. Also judging by condition of the connectors the rest of the wiring might also be brittle. Just convert it to a coil on plug setup. Yaris coils fit nicely under the cover and wiring is very straightforward. You also get rid of the igniter. You get greater reliability and a healthier spark.
Another great build series and I am enjoying the OEM plus approach. Hopefully you can get one of these builds to the track as I miss seeing you guys run hot laps.
Don't forget that the original ECU has a tendency for leaky/blown up capacitors when they age. I had a Supra with all kinds of weird drivability issues after setting everything back to stock from a previous owner's attempt to fix it, it turned out to be the ECU. I has the ECU rebuilt the car worked flawlessly.
Make sure you wire on the coilapcks the right way around. Just changed the connectors on my gs300 and I had a miss due to wires around the wrong way on one coilpack
I have an IS300 with a 2JZGE. With 250k the injector connectors were brittle and crumbled when I removed them. I replaced them the way you recommended since I didn't have a spare 2JZ laying around.
@@mentals555 maybe... not sure, I'd have to rewatch the episode when they first got the 2 cars... you might be right, idk... also could be the ecu was meant for single turbo not twin... unless I'm wrong

You guys are always ambitious and diligent in all ways ! So you are awesome in your incredible work ethic. I can also respect that you wanted to do something the opposite of what so very many do with these cars and make a great "From the factory" Driver. Seeing that you are serious enthusiasts and were going to make it the Manual these cars should have ALWAYS been for them to be all that they could be. However the only reason I heard that you are no longer doing "THE RIGHT THING LOL" is because "It's too hard and would take too long". I don't think I've really ever heard you use this as a reason for not doing "THE RIGHT THING". Now all my respect (I know that means so much to you that some random guy has lost respect for you out there in the sea of tools on the net LOL) is tainted because you are no longer doing "THE RIGHT THING LOL". Sorry but you're wrong on this FOREVER! LOL. Much respect to you all and thank you for the great content all the time every time!
it has a high idle yes. but you left the HKS cams in it right? those have a chop to start with. misfire also could be coil packs they go bad on 2Js all the time.
Twin turbo 👌 But some better intake and boost piping would have been nice. Automatic is 👍 also would ditch the thermoclutch fan, they cost you a bit of power. Electronic is just better
Surprised the trans tunnel stamping isn't more universal for the couple versions of transmissions. Interesting. I've heard a high idle & misfire can be fixed by installing a manual transmission. 🤣😁
@2:51 its to my understanding that with the R154 transmission and extended shifter setup that you've got going you actually don't need to modify the trans tunnel like you would have to with the tripod style. There's One supra I know of with this setup & I also plan on doing this as well. (Side Note: With a Tripod Style R154 or W58 You WILL have to modify the trans tunnel or install the one you got in the video, however with this older NON-Tripod R154 you won't need to. I already called and confirmed this with the person running the setup.) @2:08 can you post a Part # for this Upgraded clutch or a link to it?????? Thanks. @15:57 I've always wondered what's the charcoal cannister for and in this instance why did you need it to start the engine up? Couldn't bypass it?
Are you guys against running a crank bolt down with an impact? Not saying you should but in my experience (mechanic for 6 years, done lots of timing jobs etc) I've never done anything but impact them on. Never stripped out the threads in the crank, never had one come loose etc.
On an automatic street cruiser it's fine but not correct. I've done it too and to my own dailies in the past without issue. For a manual car that'll see performance driving it's not woth the risk. In fact ATI even goes so far as to suggest preseating the ballancer and for road course/autocross cars using red locktite. Since they're not plagued by the flat rate system they really don't have any excuse to not do things properly on anything they build.
Can I be the guy in the room to just pay a compliment and say that Dave is one sexy zaddy? Also, great content y’all! I am an American car guy myself, but find your builds to be pretty awesome!

Not a fan of deleting the factory cooling for that automatic. You have to remember that it is also there to help bring the temperature up to operating temperatures as well as keeping it cool. I don't expect that transmission to last long, keep an eye on your trans temperatures once you are driving around.
