FYI: Those Pens that you're stealing are often times brought to work by the Server, so you're not necessarily stealing from the restaurant, but from the Server.
Pablo Torre not only is a thief, but a thief of the poor.
As a former server, Pablo is a MONSTER for stealing pens from restaurants.
When I worked as a server, it was my pen. The restaurant didn't provide pens
throw him in the oubliette
Former server.... Pablo deserves facial std for that
They wrong for making us go through the whole Seinfeld stuff just to get to the part we actually wanted to hear about
Comedy is subjective.
If you’re offended; it’s offensive.
If you laugh hysterically; it’s funny.
It can be both - but never just one.
Our Flag Means Death was funny (to me and my family) wasn't cancelled due to wokeness. Opposite. Conservative corporate leaders who hold disdain/fear for queer content dropped it.
and they cant have anyone fucking forever, that would just be too much. lol.
A big three that always delivers 🙏🏾
I got into audiobooks last year personally. I plan on starting a real book collection soon. Im sure I've been through about thirty-five titles so far. I can listen at work for almost an entire shift, and i love them. Even on an off day, I'll sit around and listen for a few hours. You could argue that it's listening and not actually reading, but that is where I'm at so far. I've definitely turned into a "The book is so much better" type of person.😄
Almost drove off the road laughing at Machete... Cutting edge Pablo!
He never answered the question. Papi has to have a few.
Ah, another Friday family gathering at Meadowlark, and if *that's* the cold open, I'm always all-in. And for that, we thank you. 👍🏽
It’s always sunny, South Park, Dave chapelle, bill burr, and more comedic acts have raked in millions upon millions in the 2020s alone. It’s such an age old take to say you can’t be funny anymore because of the pc culture. You have to be good at comedy. And not everyone is going to like you. Criticism is not cancelation.
However a lot of comedians will not do colleges because of the PC culture
What a great episode, the book segment was super interesting!! thanks guys
First time watching, really enjoyed the thoughtfulness and chemistry of you guys.
They french fried instead of pizza'd on this episode. Super funny.
Two of my favorite people and.. Pablo, lol. I love the random talk, we need more of this kind of honest everyday banter. And, you can never have enough of Charles.
I do think some would keep old Cuban cigars that appreciate in value every year, not even just as a cultural item but as a ‘Dan, if you’re ever down bad for money, sell one of these’ type item.
I felt like like the second she said shes friends with Greg Rosenthal Pablo started trying to figure out how he can network that into getting jeselnik on
i swear i find napkins in all my jackets
Mina Costanza'ed being an expert on Seinfeld when others asked her about the show
I pulled Underworld off Mina’s shelf and have enjoyed it-almost finished. I’ll get Real Americans based on her rec. Thanks, Mina.
I love charles. Always have. Since he was a 76er. He csn do no wrong in my book
Dan Le Batard is so annoying. Grateful he's made this show possible but bro, just rest behind the scenes. Pablo's got a great thing going here.
I have my great grandpas machete
One of the best shows
My fave trio
Cause it’s like Pablo is talking to his ancestors (that face smash really messed me up)
People don't want hokey laugh track sitcoms as much anymore.
Mina when she sees the snack basket: I’m leaving here with sump’n

How many times is Dan going to use the lazy line of PC Culture, Cancel Culture, Wokeness, blah blah. Its so lazy. He uses them all the time now to cast a wide net for any situation in culture. Not everyone is funny or all shows are funny. Dont just say Wokeness kills edgy comedy. If edgy comedy is actually funny then a streamer will pick it up.
Pablo should do the general public a service and do a full episode to "Find Out" about what it's really like to work as a server. It probably feels like nothing, but the flashbacks to showing up to a shift with ONLY two pens as a server... I'm haunted to this day. The restaurant doesn't provide pens, and you KNOW none of your server friends have any to spare (they showed up to a shift with only two pens last week, bought more immediately after the shift, and are now hoarding them with their lives). Silver lining, restaurant transactions are increasingly going digital.
Kaman clogs!! quite the double flex with the calf 49:50
Book stats were never better. They were worse. It's a decades old stats that >90% of books sell less than *1,000* copies.
Jerry is 100% correct. It's not just affecting comedy though. Studios (film studios, tv studios, video game studios) are more concerned with being PC, and god forbid, offending one 22 year old woman on instangram, than they are with putting out well crafted, smart, entertaining products.
Mina has a TC Boyle short stories book behind her, he's a great author and I highly recommend his novels.
Netflix has to support both the "good" and "bad" comedians on their platform because the only way you get good comedy is if you let bad comedians learn from being bad. Eventually they get better at their craft or people just stop watching them. Yes, Netflix does have a profit motive, but they are also doing something very good for society. Because comedians are some of the most important professionals in society that challenge convention and move ideas forward. Oftentimes in a way that many others do not have the capability or desire to attempt.
dan and mina were both right but not realizing they were talking about two different things. pretty frustrating. dan was talking about all the corporate suits that get in the way of the creator where as stand up that mina was arguing is not being interfered with is obviously a one person one time relatively small risk event
Another 5 star episode!
Nina's economic journalism is coming back
This means the joke books with blank pages likely outsell books that take work. 😢
Outright theft is worse than being lazy about mortgage sales.
Stugotz is going to put out a book before Dan. I hope Stu has the awareness to shame him for it once it is out.
Watching the collective misunderstanding of what Seinfeld was saying is jarring. Especially considering that they all would agree with him based on their thoughts expressed during that segment. Executives do not want to produce sitcoms that will not garner an audience. Because of that they can not make them offensive to a general audience so the comedy is watered down. Seinfeld holds the position that these newer sitcoms just aren't funny and watchable.
“Why’s it called a pinch hitter! No one is getting pinched” -Jerry Seinfeld
Too edgy! (clutches PC pearls)
Honestly what the fuck are we doing here even defending Seinfeld in the slightest. It's Always Sunny has been on the fucking air for over 15 fucking seasons!!!!! Theyve literally used the hard R N-word in their episodes before and they're still on air! Cancel culture isn't real! Comedy is alive and well
Jerry used to make fun of old people like him. Classic Get off my lawn
Nina's on a roll
Kleptomaniacs y Macheteros
To encourage our kids to read books, we, as a family would collectively read. At younger ages they would pass after a page. Once they became proficient, they would read a chapter. Today it's a tradition continued at Christmas because our kids insist upon it.
I absolutely love that. It doesn't sound like much but if you imagine your own grown (older?) kids in this scenario, that is a beautiful thing
Does Dan think the studios 30 years ago gave creators freedom to do and say anything? What imaginary world does Dan live in where CBS, NBC didn’t answer to sponsors. Or going back to having to answer to politicians. Christ, there was a red scare where you’d be accused of being a communist. But sure, now that there are hundreds of shows running on dozens and dozens of platforms instead of 3 stations, it’s harder. Ok Dan
Dan, the Bob Costas erasure at the beginning of this Barkley piece simply will not stand.
And Vin Scully!
@@kami_in_the_skye I don't think it is an erasure. Costas is rarely heard anymore. I don't think he did he did any local ball. He has pretty much a jack of all trades and a master of all of them, Basketball, football, baseball, hosting the Olympics, he had a great radio show which probably nobody listened to. I seems like HBO must have canceled his tv show. I think it was suppose to be one a month or every other month. Scully is great but we pretty much only got to hear him on the world series. Barkley is just in a different territory. I don't know that he is a great analyst, but he is a great personality.
I would preorder gasbag
Check out Geoff Ausmus, Nate Craig, David Drake, Louis Katz ... to name a few. Matt Rife is so unfunny it hurts me physically
Kramer does have a job --- he is bagel slinger that's been on strike for 12 years
My wife is just like Mina----reads nothing to do with her work....but reads prolifically. I've read one fiction series in 20 years....I just read articles and manuals that pertain to my job or interests. I find much more enjoyment in other forms of media other than reading so if I am taking time for pleasure I'd rather not be reading......and I feel like many men in my age bracket are the same. Interactive gaming that require reading to complete tasks takes the place (for better or for worse) of books. In school I was required to read all sorts of fictional books and diagram the meaning of interpretation of the author in those books and it gutted my want to ever read fiction again. I'd rather read a text and then be tested on content than trying to summate the meaning of a fictional piece I am supposed to get some sort of intrinsic meaning from.
Mina is so cute, I love her
The revelation Mina. C'mon man. 🤦♂
Ppl forget the restrictions placed on comedians during the golden age of television the 1960s and 1970s. Somehow, Dick Van Dyke found a way to be funny without being offensive.
Comedy has always been damaged when it has to go through a committee to see the light of day. It doesn't matter what the politics of that committee are. It was lazy and factually incorrect of Jerry to use "far left" in his response, though. Trust me, there's no "far left" in the US anywhere. Bernie Sanders is center right in most of the world. And even if there were a far left somewhere in the US, it's sure as hell not in corporate America. You have to be living in a total fantasy to even entertain that idea. Just like in electoral politics, the most liberal of US corporations is really conservative compared to much of the rest of the world's corporations.
was it a fever dream or did jerry say "those that are good will find their way"?
Seinfeld is Unfunny is a trope about being late to the party on something after it has been imitated to death & not seeing why it was so special in the first place. But I watched that crap when it was airing and just after, and it was just okay in its day too. So other than maybe the context for a few ancient memes, you aren't really missing much by not having seen it, Mina.
Also not a Barkley fan, tbh. It's easy enough to understand why people might like him though. But he just grates on me something fierce. Just not a personality type I have the bandwidth to meaningfully engage with. I'd still probably have to give him the edge over listening to Seinfeld though. At least Chuck has a discernible personality & the capacity for being genuinely, spontaneously funny sometimes.
Also also, stop stealing servers' pens, Pablo! Especially when they bring in decent ones.
Good lord Dan, it’s never been easier to do and make a living at comedy. Comedians used to be literally arrested and blacklisted. Read a book man
Chuck portion @ 38:24
Jerry Seinfeld hasn’t adapted to the new phase/era of comedy - just that simple
Why do they call it Ovaltine?
The jar is round.
The cap is round.
they should call it roundtine.
Still ignoring he dated a 17 year old as a grown man
Seinfeld probably wanted to follow gaffigan
She hasn't seen it, but is promoting it?
money lovers are the problem.
This is the rare time I’m kinda side eyeing Mina. She doesn’t think that Matt Rife is funny.
That was the worst episode of Seinfeld the last one. No wonder she does not like Seinfeld
Tbf, I've probably seen somewhere between half & two-thirds of the series without ever really meaning to just because it was *always* on when I was growing up, and I never liked it very much. The show and the comedian are both wildly overrated, imo. Mina isn't missing anything.
What Dan is missing is that Jerry isn’t blaming the corporations. He’s blaming so called woke people and trying to legislate their morals by doing so. Hold the people in power accountable and stop crying about cultural changes that will always take place.
Gaffigan is the best clean comic in the world
My Papi's Son: The Dan Le Bastard Story
u big guys don't get! (with the exception maybe Dan) Charles is down to earth. what country people call "a straight shooter".
I live near Leeds, Alabama, Charle’s hometown. I don’t he has ever walked into bar or restaurant without picking up the tab. During Covid he gave every school employee, from janitor to principal, a $1000 gift.
Intellectual walking of lines
Seinfeld's stand-up was objectively bad. When the show started it was almost cancelled because it was centered around bits that were not funny. The show wasn't successful until it distanced itself from the club material and it was not because of the format.
16:35 Here's another layer of pathetic about this Matt Rife joke. This joke he told has been in circulation in some form or another for decades. I agree, if you're gonna offend, at least be funny. But he was so desperate to offend, he basically stole a joke that kids have been sharing for years. What a hack.
Matt Ride is definitely not funny and his uninspired domestic violence joke is lame. But the big controversy was that he built his entire name and fortune off the backs of pandering to women on Tik Tok.
And the first joke he makes is a domestic violence joke? And the says that his comedy isn't FOR women?
crazy
My least favorite thing about dan is Dan explains comedy
Hearing that "no one buys books" is absolutely wild to me as someone active in the romance and fantasy genre spaces, where I'd argue the fervor for books is greater than ever. (Romance in particular has been carrying publishing on its back for years.) But these genres are also hotbeds for indie publishing, and that combined with the lack of accounting for e-book sales makes for quite a skewed data picture, I imagine.
Feminist into romance and fantasy
Dan so disconnected with the comedy talk lol
Skip to 22:46 if you want to skip the segment of Dan blabbering about standup comedy
I take the Pen too if it's nice enough. Also If there an apple 🍎 it's coming with me
If your happy In Your marriage chances are your partner isn't they just good at hiding it
When she’s a 10 but she has the dumbest friends
If it wasn’t for Seinfeld, the TV show none of us would know who Jerry Seinfeld is. He isn’t a good standup. He doesn’t have a single special. If you remember every episode of Seinfeld started with a little stand-up from Jerry. It was never funny. He essentially owes his career and his reputation to Larry David. The show was never the same once Larry left.
He's the most expensive comedian and has been doing it for decades. You are incorrect
I trend to agree... I think seinfield is just alright... all the other characters of the show (Constanza, Kramer, Elaine) were way funnier
@@betterthanumjf I mean, I guess if you like knock, knock, knock two men walked into a bar type jokes he’s fine for that.
Just to clarify, I think he was just fine on the TV show. I’m talking about him as a stand-up comedian.
@@salentoqbut he's the writer...thats ignorant
Instead of Seinfeld, watch Martin. It's 10× funnier & it's where Seinfeld stole its characters from. #Merica
I enjoy the episodes that have Dan.
U guys complain about Seinfeld blaming the left and then complain about another comedian being too harsh. Pick a side already. I thought the blackeye joke was hilarious 😂🤙
jerry gets to stay young by syphoning the youth out of the much younger women that he seeks out.
mina hahaha good seinfeld burn yep. he's not funny.
Seinfeld = Samson.
The kid who got beat up every day at school.
@@JohnThomas-tb5kd projection
No soup for Mina!
1) Mina doesn't even know comedians.
2) She's faking Seinfeld references. Why bro?
3) Matt Rife is not Eddie Murphy, but there's some "pretty boy hate" happening.
Dan way off here, Seinfeld sucks lol
Dan, Seinfeld was literally promoting his POP-TART movie. He clearly doesn’t have an issue with the corporate influences on comedy. He was just doing the same hacky “these kids today” nonsense most people do when they get old.
Seinfeld is trash
You are absolutely correct!! He's been one of the most bland & overrated popular comedians since the late 80s
*coincidentally, I feel the exact same way about Barkley
Seinfeld is humor-adjacent and never once funny
Can they add a voice outside of the echo chamber?
This take on Seinfeld’s statement is missing the point. And is like to think yall might have done a little research on his take on humor since anyone’s stuck a mic in his face to ask him questions: the laugh is all that matters. He doesn’t begrudge anyone who can get a laugh now, especially anyone’s who’s been able to navigate the waters that has only gotten more troublesome since PC culture emerged. What he laments (as does anyone who does comedy) is the conditioning of the cultural default position to be offended, rather than to give consideration that it’s A JOKE. No one in the comedy community is saying you have to laugh at everything, or things against your principal. We’re just saying it used to be a lot more fun when you could take those shots and not immediately have your livelihood be threatened to be taken away.
The ability to not take a joke seriously has been lost in our world to a degree that’s truly disturbing. Comics have been having this conversation for decades. And kudos and love to the comics that are navigating these waters. Especially since they know one wrong perceived misstep can lead to being cancelled by millions who won’t even try to take it in context.
Three total left wingers coming to conclusions that all their left wing opinions are indeed correct Any of you 3 ever hear of an ECHO CHAMBER? TRY GETTING A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE ONCE IN A WHILE
he's not funny..... to you
