The Yankees Wife-Swap Scandal: Inside the Wildest Trade in Sports History | PTFO

- In the early 1970s, two pitchers for the New York Yankees agreed to the wildest trade in sports history: They switched wives. And children. And furniture. And pets. But this sex scandal cut way deeper than the tabloid headlines. David Mandel - veteran writer for Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Veep and The Simpsons - laments his big-screen adaptation that never was... even though the ultimate passion project could have starred Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. And we go deep inside a story that's equal parts swinging and missing.

Man I find myself saying the same thing after every episode of PTFO…Pablo has really carved out a great lane for himself and does amazing work to tell us sports stories we’d otherwise not hear or talk about. Keep up the great content, love the show!
“pitching change” was tremendous.
This is some of your best work yet. RIP Fritz.
I was, like most of us, saying “wow that’s bizarre” for most of the episode. But that last line “wasn’t for the rest of us to see” Pablo brought me to tears. Well said.
One day you will "use gas bag magic".
Beautiful way to close out the show. Well done.
Still want to see the movie though.
The John Oliver of random sports stories.
Pablo got me all choked up 😢
jeez, that went from funny/quirky to sad real quick. great episode!
Pablo I don’t write a lot of these but this is the best one yet! It was emotional and heart warming to know after all, that a beautiful love story was found. The screenplay should not be a comedy but a love story. Thank you
Emmy incoming. What a bizarre story for sure! Pablo, you're doing incredible work, pal. Keep it up.
Amazing as always
Another fabulous episode 👌
Great work!
Great episode!
Pablo just banger after banger every episode. Love the show. And i cant wait to Keep finding out
Someone has to make this movie!
Nice work, Pablo
I suppose I will continue to use "white elephant" rather than "yankee swap" come Christmas party time lol.
RIP Fritz, I am kind of glad that some of the people involved didnt want to speak to the public. Its better left to the imagination.
Great episode, Pablo
Great story, and great ending
How that fuck this story hasn’t been made in a Movie 🤦🏻♂️
If the spouses sort of stray to each other for a few weeks, months, etc. and decide they no longer want to be married, get divorced, and a few weeks, months, later Fritz and Sue get married, it it the same story? Maybe Mike and Marilyn figure out they had fun but don't see a lifetime commitment for each other. Does that change anything? They still had affairs with each other's wives and one of the affairs ended up in marriage...
Love a late night PTFO!!! Thanks Pablo torres!!
70s sounded damn wild. I was born 30 years too late damnit
total plot twist.
This should have been The Notebook.
Pablo said "double header with a staffer in charge".............on porpose......I swear
Surprised Damon/Affleck didn't buy the speed boat.
I would love to see a doc done on this subject. An even deeper dive would be very interesting. However, I believe that perhaps the project never moved forward out of respect for the children. Unfortunate pawns in a very stupid adult game.
Ben Affleck adamantly refused to wear a Yankees hat for his role in Gone Girl. he would've made the writers put Kekich and Peterson on the Twins or something
Is this where the term “Yankee swap” comes from?
What better person to have on than Demper. Go Os!
Shout out to the Ringer Fantasy Football Podcast for bringing this to my attentiona year ago!
Pablo is starting to be a problem
I wonder how long they were married to their original wives. I think the children's perspective would have been interesting. Especially Peterson's kids that Pwent with Marilyn ad Kekich. And how did Marilyn feel about raising children that were not hers biologically. At least the Kekich kids had two parents. I think there are plenty of question to ask the children all these years later. Petersen ended up doing color commentating for a hockey team in the WHA for a year and then was a black jack dealer in Elgin Illinois. If one of the couples or both did not go to that party the trade probably wouldn't have happened.
The husbands swapped, so Marilyn would've continued to raise her own children
Just starting to listen. Hope they don’t play this for a joke and actually look at the wives perspective who might have been indentured sex slaves. The Seinfeld opening is a bad start though
A story that's been told for 50 years + Pablo only gets to it now. Your poor struggle to try for years to get it out there Pablo. Oh the obstacles. Oh the hardship. Save the bull.
