- NUKEPROOF SCOUT V3 Custom Build
things to note if you were upgrading parts from V2:-
- headtube is different size so you may need to trim your forks down or use more spacers.
- rear is 180mm rotor as standard Vs 160mm on V2.
- dropper cable will need reducing as now exits top of downtube.
Already loved building up my Nukeproof Scout V2 so as soon as the new colourways got released I knew I had to have one. I pulled the trigger on the Nukeproof factory yellow and it was here before I knew it. I was in two minds whether to do a full build from new or use parts I had already got and after having an idea and inspiration for what I wanted it made sense to strip down my V2 and use those parts for this build.
Frame - Nukeproof Scout V3 290 medium in factory yellow
Forks - Fox 36 Performance Elite 150mm
Bars - Nukeproof Horizon 31.8mm x 780mm x 30mm

Grips - DMR deathgrip
Brakes - Hope tech 3 V4
Rotors- Hope 6 bolt floating 180mm front and rear
Pedals - Nukeproof Horizon downhill
Groupset - Shimano Deore / SLX
Seat post- Brand X Ascend 2 170mm dropper
Saddle - Fabric scoop
Wheels - Hope Fortus 30 front and Fortus 35 rear

Black bars, and when you get the red pedals....happy days! Nice new steed mate!
Top ride 👍👍👍
👌nice build
Cheers Steve, she rides as well as she looks 👊😎🤘
Stick with the black bars 😎
Cheers Bob. I keep going round in circles with bars 😁
For me the gold renthal bars mate, the bike looks sick mate I look forward to seeing it 🤙🤙🤙
Cheers Dazza maiden voyage yesterday and she rides as good as she looks.
👊😎🤘
Sweet bike!
She certainly is. Had a blast on her first ride out today. She was poppin' and rockin' off everything. Loved it.
💛💛💛
@@SEKTAMTB hoping to grab one myself at some point
Just ordered a yellow xl 27.5 frame.can’t wait
You'll love it mate, it rides so good.
👊😎🤘
@@SEKTAMTB cheers pal,happy to hear that 🤘
Ilove nukeproof...🥰
They are the best. I've ridden them for years and loved every one of them.
👊😎🤘
Reminds me of the coral snake, yellow red and black.
😁 Nice one.
Yellow look
Better🔥
I totally agree 💛☢️
@@SEKTAMTB me dream meybe next X-mas lol
I love how she looks! I'm planning to buy a red one, same M size, to build my first scout. Do you recommend 140mm travel fork? I'm considering a Pike, another bettet option? Thanks!!
Nice one, the red one looks wicked. I'd say anywhere 130mm - 160mm Fork is perfect depending what trails you are planning on riding. The more rowdier the trails then go higher on travel but 140mm / 150mm is a sweet spot IMO for most trail riding.
Nice build mate! I remember I also watched your V2 build , you’re really and Scout fan aye👌🏼. Always wanted a Nukeproof Scout , I currently own a Marin SQ3 and it’s a hell of a bike but the yellow scout is callin!
What dropper length are you running? Looks almost salmmed👌🏼
Arrh cheers for watching, yeah it's an incredible bike ☢️💛
I run the 170mm Brand X dropper and its spot on.
@@SEKTAMTB Thank you for replying man I already followed you on Instagram as well , really condering the V3.
Im 173cm and will get the size Meduim frame , I think 170mm drop works well.
The bike looks awesome. How does it feel to ride compared to the V2? How does the lower bottom bracket feel?I have the v2 comp and going to do a frame swap to the V3. Thanks
Yeah hard to put my finger on it but deffo feels rowdier to ride in a good way. Feels more planted somehow and more pop. Things to note the headtube is slightly smaller so had to trim the forks and the rear is 180mm rotor as standard rather than 160mm on the V2.
Thanks for the heads up on the headset and rear brake mount, I'll get a larger adaptor ordered up as I've put a 203 rotor on the rear. Can't wait to do the swap now.
I'm really considering building my own bike up, I love the Black Rs frame, how hard is it to build a bike?
What forks would you recommend for say £500 for it?
Thanks.
It's fairly straight forward and plenty of youtube "how to" guides if there is anything you are unsure of. With it being a hardtail then the forks are one of the most important things so I'd get as good as you can afford. In that price range you should be able to pick up Fox 36 or Rockshox Lyrik or Sid. I'd check out Chain Reaction as they had lots of Forks on discount recently.
How are you finding the bike? Im close to getting either the Scout 275 Race V3, or a Marin San Quentin 2.
Not sure which to go for. I don't like the colour of the San Quentin 2 much, but i absolutely love the green colour of the Scout Race. I'd have to get a dropper for the Nukeproof though.
I absolutely love the Scout and this is my second after upgrading from the V2. It is a beautiful ride no matter what you throw at it from epic XC loops to gnarly downhill tracks, it really can do it all.
@@SEKTAMTB
Yeah, they look awesome. Also, its about one of the only decent hardtails you can actually buy in the uk at this time. Many of the other best options are sold out and they have no clue when stock will be replenished. Maybe through the winter the stock will build back up in shops and online stores.
Have you tried fitting a 29" rear wheel in a Scout 275? Just curious to know if it has enough clearance. The chainsaw length difference in size L is only 7,5mm
Greetings from Munich
Not something I've tried as both my Scouts are 29ers. Reverse mullets are a thing though 🤷♂️
@@SEKTAMTB ah I see, thanks anyway. So I need to find a Scout 275 😅
Did your frame comes with the headset?
Yes mate it should come with the headset.
did it come with the derailer hanger?
There is a hanger on the frame yes
Really tempted with the v3 to replace my v2. How does the ride of the v3 compare to your v2?
Yeah hard to put my finger on it but deffo feels rowdier to ride in a good way. Feels more planted somehow and more pop. Things to note the headtube is slightly smaller so had to trim the forks and the rear is 180mm rotor as standard rather than 160mm on the V2
@@SEKTAMTB hadn’t realised ht was shorter thanks. Does it feel similar when seated? More / less stretched out?
@@solarrover9575 yeah very similar feel nothing that you instantly notice but after a few rides you're like "yeah this is deffo better but not quite sure why" maybe it's psychological or just the yellow shouting "yeah boi" at me. 🤣🤣🤣
What size of tires your using?
I'm running 2.4
Is that 290 or 275? Medium?
This is 290 medium buddy
