The switch question, I took 4 momentary switches and took my time to make a plate to fit that cubby where the 4wd switch goes. It looks better than what I have in this video. It will probably be on both of our youtube channels. I will take the time to show a switch plate like I have in mine on that video as well.

You buy the proper GM connector, and crimp wires to them, then install into plastic fitting. Or pull a harness out of a junkyard truck with a few inches of wiring, and remove the individual wires, you need a special pin pusher set, they are maybe $5 or $6 online.
i have a question, maybe 2. Seems how you know your stuff when it comes to the control of these clusters. in my case 2007 Trailblazer LT 4.2L Q1. is there a way to turn off (disable) the DIC. 100% Q2. In lieu of turning off the all DIC 100%, is there certain wires (color sensitive) that are ok to remove from the pin connection that reads (service tire monitor) and (service stabilitrak) I can put tape on the warning lights for these two issues, but the at the message center (DIC) I would prefer to just remove that logic as described above and still keep my Odometer reads and other programmable features. You buy the proper GM connector, and crimp wires to them, then install into plastic fitting. Or pull a harness out of a junkyard truck with a few inches of wiring, and remove the individual wires, you need a special pin pusher set, they are maybe $5 or $6 online.
would you know how to change the kilometers to miles on the odometer. my chevy is an 03 as well with no steering wheel controls. thanks
With odometer displayed you can press and hold the button to bring up the option
i have a question, maybe 2.
Seems how you know your stuff when it comes to the control of these clusters.
in my case 2007 Trailblazer LT 4.2L
Q1. is there a way to turn off (disable) the DIC. 100%
Q2. In lieu of turning off the all DIC 100%, is there certain wires (color sensitive) that are ok to remove from the pin connection that reads (service tire monitor) and (service stabilitrak)
I can put tape on the warning lights for these two issues, but the at the message center (DIC)
I would prefer to just remove that logic as described above and still keep my Odometer reads and other programmable features.
Hope to hear back soon,, Thanks Please let me know
Cal Delorey not sure, when I made this video I was working for a dealership and had tech's help me to program the cluster. I'm sorry I'm no help.
will this work on a 09 trailblazer ls?
not sure. It may but remember you will have to get it reflashed.
Fentertainment got it, thank you
would this work in a 2000 gmc sonoma?
not sure about the sonoma's or s10's.
@@Fentertainment what about a 2000 gmc sierra
@@1031negro No, Between 1999 and 2002, this body came with a DIC that pretty much only showed warning messages. It wasn’t until 2003 when a lot more electronics and other convince items showed up.
How do you flash it? Where do I go to get that done?
find out?
@@NJhuskey nope
Your local chevy dealership needs to flash it
You can send the cluster to a place that specializes in cluster repairs. They have the equipment and bin files needed to flash it
I opens up my 05 Sierra 3500 work truck and diddnt see those color wires. I grounded out the yellow wire I thought it was and turns out that was the power wire
My 2003 Silverado don’t have the yellow wire😩
I tried it ain’t working I sliced the yellow wire ram long wire same bullet for ground didn’t get no fuel reading ??? Am I missing something
Still have to flash the cluster to a truck with driver information controls
@@Fentertainment thanks for the reply by flash what do you mean by that ?
Do I just go to Chevy dealership ? Feel like they wouldn’t even take me serious since it’s a 18 year old truck
@@alexayala6720 The cluster needs to be flashed with a tech2 to a different vin of a truck with a cluster that has the dic.
So Fentertainment, I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD Diesel and I currently do not have the options for mpg and so on. Would I still need a different vin and reflash?
Jason Hirt I'm not sure. I think you maybe able to add it. I would search the forums.
Mine didn’t need a reflash I went to the auto wrecker and pulled one from another vehicle. Cut a hole in upper right corner where unit plugs in and it works!
Mine was a 2007 Chevy Silverado
Fentertainment I have an 03 Silverado wt and it does not have 4 wires how do I do it
How can you select on each option?? The reason I’m asking it’s because I added side mirrors that have poodle lights and since my truck don’t have the steering controls I need to change it on the cluster
Yessss I’m so dam curious…
It would be nice if you would respond to these questions
You don't show where you hook the other wires
I have a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 and the avg Econ has been stuck on 13.9 for 2 years now never goes up or down I’m not sure how to fix it
I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 sle reg cab short bed. I put a Denali cluster in it. All I would need to do is add the buttons cuz a Denali already has the steering wheel controls correct????
I think so.
Fentertainment thank u
@@TomC-kv8pl did it work? I had an Escalade cluster added to mine and have yet to try it out
@@AlexRodriguez-pg9xk works perfect. Super easy also.
@@TomC-kv8pl awesome to know I won’t have to have it flashed. Thank you
Anyone know how to do this on a 04 Malibu LS ?
When you get it flashed to a different vin. Does it change the mileage of the truck to the vin of the other?
no it stayed the same. It basically unlocked the features.
So you just basically ground the wires
No. You connect through a momentary switch, and from there to ground. The ground is the signal for the change. If you just connect to ground, you can't change anything.
What about in reverse? Have a new cluster (old one cooked itself), have steering wheel controls but they don't seem to talk to the new cluster, assuming it came out of a truck without the wheel controls in it, does that make the cluster different?
Same problem with mine. Have you figured it out?
@@danny_games2275 according to a few resources at the time it needed the EEPROM reprogrammed to include the steering controls. However my situation turned out to be bad steering controls.
@@Perforated611 I havent really messed with mine, I guess I'm going to see if i can reprogram. Did you have to replace just the controls or sterring wheel as well?
@@danny_games2275 I haven't fixed it yet, it involves changing the steering wheel clock spring, which is just a pain.
@@Perforated611 I hear you thanks for the info
Where did buy those momentary switches?
That is awesome
My truck used to have the options to display oil life, instant mpg, etc. But at some point the options stopped showing and my engine hours went back to zero even with 170k still on the odometer. No clue happened but maybe this will work.
How do I reset the total fuel used? Mine says 99999 and I can't reset it. Thanks for your help.
Youtune has videos how to reset...dont need controls bc its all manual trickery tasks you have to perform...like key on key off pump brake 13 times....that kind of shit.
Don’t do this, it doesn’t work without doing a long draw out process of re programming and everything else. NOT AS EASY AS CLAIMED. He should mention it in the video. Trying to save anyone else from a waste of time like it was to me
Maybe you should have watched the entire video and not skip around. At 1:30 I explained I had the cluster reflashed to a different vin number in order for this to work. So it was claimed MORON!
You did say that but you didn't say WHY it was done
He only said that it was flashed with a new vin which just saying that means nothing really
me lo podria traducir en español x fabor🙏🙏🙏🙏
Add a trans temp gauge
ua-cam.com/video/8Fky-N9QQPE/v-deo.html
to add atrans temp you need to get a cluster with the trans temp guage i.e. escalade cluster and it is plug and play
@@timmensch3601 no need to get another cluster. It can be added to any 6 gauge cluster from 2003 through 2006
These guys do it at a reasonable price: www.gmgaugerepair.com/add-a-transmission-temperature-gauge/
So I only have to flash the cluster and hook up the wires for it to work? why do I need a new clock spring does that have to be out of newer truck?
I think if you were to buy a steering wheel with the controls already in the wheel then you would have to.
If I went the clockspring and harness route, would I need to reflash?
I believe so. The clock spring and harness is just the right way it should look instead of cheap switches like I used.
Will this work on 2003 Tahoe bought new cluster and it doesn’t show the mpg and miles to empty any more ?
Answer the damn question what the heck
