      @@ArmenArmenjs i taped the abs so a pencil mark would show. I removed the pocket and flipped it and sketed it out on the abs. I used 2 wire ties to hold it in place on the mount of the internal dash where thr pocket mounted. After I did that I placed the bezel back on the truck and sketched out the opening of the abs. Once I had the abs sketched. I removed it to find the center and drilled the holes before adding the switches and placing it for good.

  • @jasonsprouse2803
    @jasonsprouse2803 3 роки тому +4

    I would recommend cutting the wires, and using heat shrink butt connectors. Soldering the wires creates a stiff spot, and the wires end up breaking next to the solder from vibration. I've fixed too many previous repairs where someone thought they were doing a "good job" by soldering wire. Soldering is not a factory recommended repair procedure. I'm an ASE master certified "technician".

    This is a GREAT video!!! Thank you for taking the time to do this... now that I have laid it on thick I have a question? You knew that was coming! 😀
    In one of your recent posts you said that you were going to do another video, showing a different switch. Do you know when you will be doing it? I have a 2006 Silverado 2500 duramax. In order to get the correct flash should I find the same make/model/engine and year? My steering wheel does NOT have the control buttons and I am trying to do this at a reasonable cost. I am pretty comfortable around a truck and wrench. Could I use a dash mounted switch for a 2007??? Again, your time and effort to help country guy out, is greatly appreciated. I will have s cold one in you name!

      The switch question, I took 4 momentary switches and took my time to make a plate to fit that cubby where the 4wd switch goes. It looks better than what I have in this video. I also purchased a 07up dic switch but couldnt get it to work. My steering wheel doesnt have switches either, That is why I made the switch plate for the truck. Other than that I havent changed anything and it still works perfect. I picked up another 04 silverado. I called my buddy at the dealership and I'm gonna get him to flash this cluster as well. It will probably be on both of our youtube channels. I will take the time to show a switch plate like I have in mine on that video as well.

      Thanks for the reply. Although I now have a couple of other questions.... I know I can easily test to see if the cluster will display info without flashing. But if it doesn’t and I need to have a dealership flash the cluster, do i need the truck and the cluster or can I just take the cluster to them with a valid VIN? I was also thinking of chipping or otherwise modifying the duramax Do you know if any monitors will display the DIC data?

      Same here, I think my clock spring is bad. They expensive AF. I’m going to use T-Taps instead of cutting the wires and was thinking of using the OE switch combo from an 08-15 Silverado. These years had a switch combo with all functions that mounted on the far left side of the dash by an AC vent. The switches are readily available, though it uses a special plug on the back. The plugs are available separate though Auto specialty supply websites. I may just get some nice looking momentary switches also.

      You buy the proper GM connector, and crimp wires to them, then install into plastic fitting. Or pull a harness out of a junkyard truck with a few inches of wiring, and remove the individual wires, you need a special pin pusher set, they are maybe $5 or $6 online.

    i have a question, maybe 2.
    Seems how you know your stuff when it comes to the control of these clusters.
    in my case 2007 Trailblazer LT 4.2L
    Q1. is there a way to turn off (disable) the DIC. 100%
    Q2. In lieu of turning off the all DIC 100%, is there certain wires (color sensitive) that are ok to remove from the pin connection that reads (service tire monitor) and (service stabilitrak)
    I can put tape on the warning lights for these two issues, but the at the message center (DIC)
    I would prefer to just remove that logic as described above and still keep my Odometer reads and other programmable features.
    Hope to hear back soon,, Thanks Please let me know
