    This is how I added steering wheel radio controls to my 2009 Silverado. This will work on 2007 - 2013 Silverado Sierra Tahoe and Yukon. It is not hard if you take your time. I have listed the part numbers below. So much better with volume control on the steering wheel(How lazy, Right?!) If you have questions post them in the comments. Thanks for watching.....

    Great video. I was able to get a whole wheel out of a Sierra at my local junkyard for $35. Ended up swapping over everything I needed to my wheel. Then I was able to still sell the other wheel to a coworker and actually made money on it! Surprised GM didn't just put these in on all the trucks considering how cheap it is.

    Wow thanks a million! I bought my GMC Sierra new in 2008 and was always sorry I didn’t get some of the upgrades, especially this one, I looked into it some but it always involved a new steering wheel, stumbled across your video the other day when I was installing my new remote start, immediately ordered the parts you gave the links for and did it today, very simple and works perfect, thank you! Also ordered the DIC upgrade it’s on its way. Not sure if you could help with this but when I search for performance upgrades for the 5.3 I get so many versions and peoples opinions I am lost, I’m not a huge truck guy as far as all the super tuning and stuff, my truck is for hunting and camping almost exclusively, only have 56k on it haha I just want a little more horsepower and better mileage if possible, you seem like a straight shooter and honest so thought I would ask your opinion if you get time, either way, thanks for posting this vide!

      Tim Lockett They are by the headlight control, they allow you to access a whole bunch of good stuff that is built into the truck but not available without them. First and foremost is the Tire Pressure Monitor System. You can see the tire pressure of each tire right on the dashboard. You change all kind of lighting and lock settings, you can see engine hours, trans temp, timers, fuel consumption, and reset your oil change light. A bunch of other little things that are very handy when you need them. I did when my truck was very new so i don't recall exactly.

    Hey Man, great video. Couple questions for you though. Was the wire harness already in the steering wheel? If it was not, how did you run that wiring harness? If you had to run it, does it just plug into the back of the radio? Thanks for your help!

    • @TWAMotorsports

      +carlsenga you order the harness listed in description then simple unplug the old and plug in the new.

    • @carlsenga
      @carlsenga 6 років тому

      I'm confused. So there is a harness already in the steering wheel? And the harness is just a extension to go to the "New" audio controls module? I currently do not have audio controls on my truck.

    • @TWAMotorsports

    Thanks for the video... I’ve hooked everything up and my horn blows nonstop now; I’ve removed and installed the airbag 5 times now, each time trying to finagle the audio controls to make sure it wasn’t pushing back on anything. At first I thought it was the alarm going off.. but When I unhook the pink horn connector steering wheel, no horn. So I’m thinking either the harness is bad or I don’t have it back together correctly... anything you can think of? Thanks in advance.

    • @TWAMotorsports
      @TWAMotorsports  6 років тому

      +jtoth01 not sure. All connection are one way so it's not hooked up incorrectly. Could be bad harness or you pinched a wire tightening it all up. Check all the wires for bare spots.

      All fixed. In case anyone else has the same annoying issue... it was a complete oversight by me: the contact bar at the bottom needs to be “tucked” into the groves of the plastic piece.... if it is not the plastic forces the bar to be in constant contact with the horn contacts on the back of the airbag cage... thanks again for the video.
