First thought was, why the heck would I need that? Second thought was, yea, I DEFINITELY need that. Having held way too many cylinders like that with my hands, I can tell you, this is brilliant.
HAH I love that, you are spot on. That's normally how I approach products. Either I purchase for review or get asked to review something and others I get because I really want it and the excuse is... it's for review! ha
I saw this on Sparrows and was intrigued. This is the first video I have seen about it and now I may get one. Thanks for the video.
Glad you enjoyed this video and let me know if you get one. I'd like to know how others enjoyed it.
NIce, first commercially available milled tool for holding lock cylinders I am aware of and I like the storage space... whereas many 3D printed profile holders fit into mortise hand vises/grips hopefully the variety of will also work in the sceptre!
Thanks again Dust for watching/commenting. I'm interested to see what upgrades Sparrows lock picks come up with for this device, considering the 3D version has more adaptors and is cheaper.
Cool tool! I can see lots of opportunity for adaptors to allow for other lock sizes and configurations. Like it!!!
Thanks for watching and commenting Bob, I'm with you %100 on opportunity for upgrades here.
A neat looking design for this sort of tool, thanks for showing it, cheers
So glad you enjoyed it, lots of positive reviews so far.
Haha! That went all over the floor! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen anything Sparrows I wanted, and I think I want this!!
Believe it or not I have this sitting on my desk with a medeco in it... Comes in handy I have to admit
Pretty cool! It would be great for a naughty bucket lock to travel with and try to get an open on. Thanks, LLP!
That's a great idea, my thought was more training around the house ect but it is versatile enough to be used for challenge locks and traveling ect
Very interesting idea to carry pucks along with a lock. Looks pretty cool too.
thanks for the review LLP, Ive been waiting for someone to review this.
No problem Leon, glad you enjoyed this. Much appreciated
Nice travel addition for picking while on the road. Looks really well done
Much appreciated ! Glad you liked it!
Nice to see the finishing on this, it's a cool thing. Could do with inserts for euros and padlock cores, it's a bit of a one trick pony as it stands.
I agree that some upgrades are needed as the one trick pony remark certainly stands the test of time for now
Cool tool for sure. Only if they made a version for euro cylinders.
I'm %100 with you on that one
Just got mine in
! I am super pumped on it :)
Awesome! Please let me know how it turns out.
@@LegalLockPicker hey ! :)
Figuired i would do a small
Update.
I am a huge fan of lounge picking and this facilitates that to a key...
Lame joke sorry lol
I find it is the perfect height to be leaning back and brace on your thigh
While watching your fav show
My cat has been curious about picking but with the scepter he cant really get to much in my way so its a solid win win
(Takes less of his lap space away)
Its wicked if you have a certain lock that you have an itch to keep scratching and
You dont want to be confined to your bench and just bring your picks and other goodies and your off to the races :) learned a disposable vape also fits perfect....
If your off for aweekend camp get away
And your hands just wont let you stop picking ... then this is most deffs the tool for you !
(We all struggle with not being able to put the picks down dont worry :p)
I cant wait to throw in some of my own adaptions !
Maybe a little light behind the cylinder to help new pickers see and feel the pin to nurture good habits of placement
..... found some sticky rv lights
That just slid right in and doesnt cause interference
Makes it so much easier
To help show other curious looky lous
Happy picking everyone !! :)
This review is well timed! It's my birthday in a few days, so I was perusing Sparrow's website and saw this. Definitely going on the wishlist!
Not bad at all! Happy Birthday
@@LegalLockPicker Thanks! And thanks for making great videos!
I like that everything is in one unit. You don't have to have picks on your keychain or a jack and a lock in your pocket. It's all right there.
Nice, but limited to just the one lock profile (threaded mortice lock) and thread. The 3D Locksport holder with multiple adapters is a much better option, I think.
A large swoth of people in the comment section seem to be leaning the same direction regarding the 3D locksport holders.
I really like this; love the idea of a "handle" for the locks, with the added benefit of being able to store your picks for traveling.
I have it and love it. I would like to see a version with a few changes though:
1. Line the inside with something (felt?) to reduce clanking.
2. Make it unscrew in the middle so the bottom half could serve as a pick holder while you pick.
3. A slightly wider holder to be able to hold a standard SC1 key.
Thank you for the introduction. I wish they would make a similar product for euro type locks for us non american pickers...
I’m with you in that one
Nice little device from Sparrows.
Agreeed!
Nive review. I seen this the other day on the site. Pretty well thought out for what it is for. Thank you for sharing!
Getting a ton of good feedback on this item, glad to see people enjoy it.
I've got it!, cool stuff from sparrows!. Nice review!
Looks like a great tool for travel. I dig the way it looks as well. Great video, great subject sir.
Thanks pres, glad you enjoyed it my friend
Pretty cool. I would probably purchase one . Great video and have a great day. 🙂👍
Thanks Brian, glad you enjoyed it. It’s got a nice weight to it as well I think you might enjoy it.
Thanks for the review. Think I'll just stick with the 3d printed holder (easier to carry and I have a nice case for my picks)
Don't blame you for that, if I had the 3d printed version I'm sure I'd use that as well :)
Thanks for the pill bottle tip
No problem!
Nice Review, keep the content coming! Really appreciate it.
Thanks again Ryan, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch & comment. Means a lot
Saw this on sparrows website, came here to see what its about. interesting tool!
Good idea...
And doubles as a weapon...
Would definitely be nicer if it accepted more lock profiles...
That is something I brought up to Sparrows lock picks after the review & reading all your comments.
Interesting thing and not too bad for travel indeed. You can't carry more locks in it though. Would ve nice if either the lock holding part could slide onto the handle for more compactness or you could somehow carry a few locks in it. Anyway neat addition to locksport and thanks for sharing 👍
It’s got a really nice feel once you get a lock inside. Also has a nice weight
@@LegalLockPicker Yeah, that showed in the video and a plus indeed :)
Isn't this just a mag lite with the torch parts removed?
That's looking pretty damn cool. Just might have to get me one of those.
Glad you enjoyed it! Let me know if you get one and if you like it.
As I’m watching this, I keep thinking ‘Didn’t I watch Adam Savage make these light saber handles for a game controller?’
haha I watch a lot of his work as well. Thanks!
Thanks for a great review.
My appreciation Mr. Inspector, watching is one thing - taking the time to comment means a ton thank you!
I had to check the date out, I thought it was April fools day for a second then, but no they're actually selling this on the site, nice concept but OUCH! the price tag is a bit much for what it is I must say.
Now I know I've got no chance of winning one Lol.. Take care and thanks for the review ;-)
and which item were you not going to win
@@LegalLockPicker : All of them, I never have any luck Lol ;-)
Excellent reaview there mate !!
Thanks for the support LH, you know I'm always trying new things to spice up the content!
That’s a great concept. You can work on the lock like it’s actually installed.
Perfect for the Jedi locksporter in your life!..
Use the force.. In moderation.. Some locks require finesse instead!..
Isn’t that the truth!
Nice review. Interesting product from a great company.
My thoughts exactly, the Sparrows sceptre cropped up the site and decided it would make for interesting content.
LOL, sorry but I totally predicted you dumping those picks out...
Hahahah I had a feeling you’d notice and call out on that
@@LegalLockPicker I saw you grab it and I said "oh I bet he's gonna.... Yup, he did" 😂🤣
Looks like a pretty handy device. Keep the vids coming always interesting thanks
I appreciate you watching this video James and taking the time to comment. Thank you!
I'll be getting that! I don't go camping or whatever and I don't need need it but right now I have a cast up my leg so been doing a lot of shopping and buying but most of the shit I don't need I just want lol
Ha I know that feeling , hope you get better
@@LegalLockPicker February 3rd I get it off and I don't care if the x-ray shows it's still broke I'm not getting another cast I'll refuse it I was only walking with a limp and I don't mind having a limp compare to taking an hour to shower and shave! I've been through some excruciating pain with back surgery and a broken neck so the pain from this leg ain't shit
I would be worried some airport security guard mistakes it for a pipe bomb, and have never heard of locksport.
Or a tazer
or vibrator
Great video LLP. I like the idea of the Sceptre. Too bad there are no KIK cylinder adapters. Since a user might be able to fit some in the handle. I hope they come out with more finish options.
Thanks-I have one as well, along with a matching lock and agree that it is a very well made tool. I've been unable to determine the correct match for mortice cylinders however. I see several different diameters when shopping - 1 inch, 1 1/8, 1 1/4 etc. I'm guessing that the cylinder is threaded for 1 1/8. Any thoughts on that?
seems handy. thanks for the video
No problem Jeremy, make sure you come back :)
Not something I feel like I need, but pretty cool.
Thanks Mark, I’d have to agree with you there. More of a novelty.
nice accessory. i more amazed on how you open the lock.
I have one off these it’s a really cool item, good review.
Glad you enjoy it as much as I do
Good thing to travel.
That way you keep everything on hand :)
I don't have a need for this but I can totally see why a die-hard picker would want this for travel. I bet there's probably 5 other uses for it too.
Thanks for sharing. I think i prefer the 3d printed holder route though
Thanks for the comment Joshua, looks like you have quite a few people going the @3dlocksport route. Especially with all the attachments you can't go wrong.
Interesting idea but I wonder what the demand is for this. With the storage of picks are they trying to replace starter sets?
Interesting tool, may have to get one some day. Have to work on my mortise collection first
I have mixed feelings about this. I like the design and how compact it is - I think if I was US based I would probably snap it up. Unfortunately import duties to the UK plus postage means you can double the costs involved and so I think I’ll have to hold off for now.
That's got to be a joke. It's not even April yet! It's a light saber prop with the tube light removed.
Ha, not quite
I can see the look on my wife’s face if I pulled that out and started picking while out and about lol
What would be the best lock to buy for this? I got mine in the mail today but didn't think about the grub screws being in the way on my practice locks
This looks like the perfect tool for us tv watching couch potato pickers. Ordering now.
Exactly my thought :)
Thanks for the review! Might get one later.
I had one of these in my Sparrows cart to buy today......but, let's get this straight. They put a lock in the end of the tube. Then made the access point a screw plate on the other end. Not using the lock as an entry point is a massive oversight. Now its just a case that rolls off the table. Am I missing something here
I just watched and was looking through comments. I haven't checked the site yet but why didn't you get it? Because the lock didn't open up to the inside of the cylinder? I might have read it wrong I thought it was just for practice while you travel not to secure anything.
Being (pretty darn sure anywho) aluminum, my concern would be putting in the vice.
I'm Uncle Sam, how do you do?
Thanks for the head scratcher, I did put a lock in the Sparrows Sceptre then in to the vice..It didn't make any noticeable difference
Such a shame it dosent fit The Revolver training lock
It’s interesting b/c that’s the first thing I tried to screw in. Wouldn’t that make sense!?
@@LegalLockPicker Im looking to get into lockpicking as a hobby and was looking at the Revolver as a training lock along with a small starter lock pick set and the realod kit the above would have been perfect to keep it all together for a newbie to learn a waste of a good idea really.
I love the idea but I would of added an adaptor for euros and the option for holster to attach it to my tactical bag
Looks pretty premium.
Great review.
I usually love all of their products. I definitely see the appeal, but not something I need to have...
Is there a Flashlight out there with the right thread for this lock type?
Not for me...I have a pocket in my backpack for my locks and picks.
Thanks for the insight Evil Arch, the Sparrows Sceptre seems to be hit or miss with most people.
I'm not sure I would use such a tool but it might make sense for someone else.
would behandy in the field when you dont have a vice.
That’s a great idea 💡
Stick a magnet to it; if it doesn't stick, it's Aluminum or titanium. Doubtful it's titanium due to price, too cheap.
After further inspection, it is Aluminum but damned if it isn't cool to use.
Very cool, i want one now! 👍
thanks for the review!
Not my cup of tea, but nice to see other options for everyone.
Sparrows has loads of better stuff to get your money/= nice reviews
Can't win em all!
Would be great with the PanaVise 350... otherwise i can see me holding it with my knees.
Is that made for tricking security guards?
(Don't worry, its a flashlight!)
Interesting product for sure
Might use it to store mangled picks. Everytime I ruin a pick I'll pop it in here. Maybe I should get two....🤔
That is a nifty tool!
Leaving a comment as entry for the januari giveaway :D
Great Review!
Need this. Mine are a jumbled mess
Very tempting
Awesome looks cool
Ahhh, to travel ... maybe someday.
Interesting concept
Cool case design
Gonna get one...thanks
Nice solid pick case. too bad it is designed for American cylinders
Thanks for the input, seems like a large number of other commenters agree with you.
Kind of a groovy idea.
love the video
I want one.
Really not sure if I like this tool !
