lukerbom12 the Steelers were the defending champs and the bad start to the year was seen as a fluke due to ben’s motorcycle crash, plus they were at home in one of the toughest stadiums to play in. While the Saints being good was also seen as being a fluke, nobody realized it was the start of a 15 year Brees Era in New Orleans
The NFC was incredibly weak that season. New Orleans was a 2 seed at 10-6 and the Bears were pretty much the only legitimate Super Bowl contender in the entire conference.
Phinal Flash agreed! I think Seattle won the NFC West with a 9-7 record. After the Bears’ 13-3 record, the second best dropped down to 10-6, which were both the Saints and the Eagles. It’s definitely a weak conference if most teams got into the playoffs with either 9-7 or 8-8 records.

@xSaintsfangirl #WHODATNATION Hines Ward probably had six or seven inches on Steve Smith and was a completely different type of receiver; what aspect of the two were you comparing, maybe run-blocking?

Mid 2000’s Steelers had a great offense. Too bad Willie Parker didn’t stick around, he was something else. And, Hines Ward was one of the best receivers of his era.
In the 2000s, 2002 Patriots, 2003 Bucs, 2006 and 2009 Steelers, 2012 Giants, 2013 Ravens, 2016 Broncos and potentially the 2018 Eagles are the only teams not to make the playoffs after winning the Super Bowl the previous season.

Yes 2010 was Halloween night after we won the SB, we were terrible in 2014 but played our best game of the year against the Steelers. This game was fun to watch even though we lost. The so called experts kept saying if the Saints jumped out to a lead the Steelers would fold and it would be game over. The Saints did jump out to a lead but the Steelers came roaring back lol. Still a fun game to watch.
supermike1982 we could go back and forth, but I’ll just say the Saints only super bowl win in franchise history resulted in their coach being suspended for an entire season.
I always thought that the "botched snap" fumble play to Deuce would be illegal. From what I remember a RB cannot take a direct snap if the qb is under center. The colts tried that in a playoff game in NE back in '04 and it was penalized and called back. Was it because the ball was considered fumbled that it was allowed?
I think thats exactly why. Looking at the play i was super confused on that too. No way they would design it so that it would bounce toward the RB. Either way I think they did want to snap directly to the RB seeing as how Brees wasn't confused at all and the entire offense didn't look flustered either. However whether that bounce off the ground was intentional or not is what is a mystery to me so either A) they really practiced where the ball would go if it bounced in a certain direction or angle or B) they wanted to directly snap it to the RB but it accidentally hit the ground on its way to McAllister. Either way though its a good thing it didn't because like you said it probably would've been penalized if it never hit the ground. Still thats a genius call if they wanted it to hit the ground intentionally, so much so I'm writing that play down in my coaching notebook lol.
Pittsburgh Steelers won 4 Super Bowl championship 1974 1975 1978 and 1979 New Orleans Saints never won the playoffs they lost 4 Times 1987 1990 1991 and 1992
This is one of the weirdest games in the fact that a 2-6 team was a touchdown favorite against a 6-2 team

@@TheLocalLt Oh yeah, I can see why, and obviously the Steelers did by a touchdown. It's just odd, you really don't see that a lot
lukerbom12 I agree I would have hammered New Orleans in this game and would have lost a bunch of cash

That Reggie Bush touchdown at 3:45 was insane!
More spectacular than the one he did in Miami
His jump in Miami for a touchdown was one of the most iconic images for the Saints.
@@theinvictussamaritan4778 and he threw the ball into the stands.....probably is residing in some Dolphins fan's house.
the fact that this is EXACTLY how the steelers lost today shocks me.

Steelers vs saints - tbh it doesn't get any better than that.
Great game indeed. I always liked Colston especially early in his career. Of course Hines Ward was a helluva talent too.

Great game from 2006! Willie Parker was a stud and the Saints had some great rookies that year!
This one was a classic.
That Reggie Bush leap though 👌🔥 good game this is the football I grew up with
Willie Parker was insanely good
Thanks for posting these old game highlights!
This game was also a rare coaching matchup- Sean Payton vs. Bill Cowher
Fast forward to 2022, the Steelers are 2-6 facing N'awlins at home this Sunday 😁
Broo fast willie is exactly what we’re missing today just need a rb to be able to rip a quick 60 yarder to the house
Yall not Najee now I'm happy to see him play tonight hopefully
What a game. I expect this video to get a couple hundred thousand views
Nope
One of Willie Parker's two 200 yard rushing games he had that year, despite the Steelers finishing 8-8.
This was an excellent game...I miss this steelers team

What a great team turnaround this was for the Steelers. From 2-6 to 8-8 to finish Coach Cowher's career.

It was a fumble-rooski
Joshua Horton no it wasn’t

As a Steelers fan, as soon as i saw 2-6 i knew we were going to win.
Why isnt this game talked about enough!
That game was 🔥 cousin
Factsss
Maybe because the Steelers were on track for having the worst ever follow up to a Super Bowl winning season. But I could be wrong.
Why do people continue to call yellow gold? You can see clearly see the difference between the two colors in this game.
I especially love it when certain teams' fans get angry if a non-fan refuses to also call it "gold".
