Underrated game with a lot of twists and turns down the stretch. I remember watching this game on replay the day after. I also remember that the TMQ speculated that Randle-El's Touchdown pass was the fastest thrown TD in NFL history.
Ryan Irwin- Diehl 7th in all time passing yards and 8th in all time TDs, 2 rings, and a spot in the HOF. How is he not one of the greatest of all time?
The Steelers were missing Plax Burress and Ike Taylor in this game, their best cover guy and their best WR that season. That's a big blow to any team. Wee Willie Williams was their #1 corner in this game, and he was pretty awesome this year, but not the guy you want chasing around Toomer, for sure.
NFL Throwbacks I said this last video and I will say it again I love you so much and I love this channel so much thank you so much for making this channel you are just awesome bro
I was at this game when I was 14. The Giants may have lost, but it was encouraging to see something positive from rookie Eli and the offense for a change.
It's gotta suck for Phillip Rivers that Ben and Eli each have two rings while Rivers has never even been to a Super Bowl. Philip Rivers will probably go into the HOF, eventually, but Ben and Eli already had their spots reserved years ago.
Phil had a worse franchise to deal with. Amazing that that 94 Chargers team made the Super Bowl with Stan Humphries but none of the Brees or Rivers teams could.
Eli was not a hall of famer caliber QB. He had 2 of the best drives in NFL history but that the only thing he has. Rivers was far superior to Manning as an everyday QB. Ben is the only lock for Hof
I don't think we're ever going to see another Antwon Randall El. There's not a thing he couldn't do. He was arguably one of the best special teams players in NFL history and he was a quarterback, blocker, running back and a receiver. He was an overachiever.
EXACTLY and he should have been mvp in seattle superbowl he was responsible for a 14 point swing threw bomb to ward for td and when ben threw interception and their guy ran up theright sidelines el was all the way on other side of field streaked up and across field to stop him from scoring not may people remember this but i sure did ...he should have been mvp!
I remember this game but I’d forgotten just how close it actually was. Back and forth, definitely was an epic QB dual. And such quality video coverage.
This steelers team was way better than 2005 one that actually won lol except big ben because he was more playoff ready in 2005 cause he wasnt a rookie and until 2005 even though he was a great coach it always seemed like bill cowher choked in big games almost on a marty schottenheimer level
I remember this game. It was my senior year of college. Its funny that no one knew BOTH these QB's would be rather epic and lead their respective teams to MULTIPLE SuperBowl victories. Nope, back then we were just watching one hell of a shoot-out between two young goofy looking rooks. I must say however, despite how well Eli and co. played, there was never any hope. The Steelers in 2004-2005 were ON FIRE and completely unstoppable. Possibly one of the most "stacked" NFL teams of the modern era. 2004 was also the year the Steelers ended Tom Brady and Belichick's 21 game winning streak handing the Pats a disasterous loss AND a handful of injuries... and we all know how 2005 season ended, blasting through Eli's brother for a Superbowl victory against the SeaHawks in Feb '06. Fast Forward a few years (2008) and Eli Manning and David Tyree would connect on some incredible plays to ALSO dethrone an undefeated Patriots team! So long story short, this game showcases the dawn of two QBs who would upset the GOAT (Brady) on multiple occaisions and take their teams to multiple Superbowl games. (BigBen - 2006-2009-2011 // Eli: 2008-2012)
I was -1 years old when that game was played! Before this video ends, I know that Pittsburgh won because they went 15-1 and their one loss was at the beginning of the season
Quite a few, that would end up in the Hall here, and a few more will be in time. Lot of talent being shown here. And 4 Superbowl rings between them to come in just a few years.
I had forgotten just how bad our defense was in those years. In fact, if u look at every year during Eli’s career, only twice (maybe 3 x) did they finish in the top 15 in overall defense. (2 super bowl years). All years beside that: 23rd, 27th, 24th, etc….
Both would go on to become 2-time Super Bowl championship QBs - in fact from 2005 to 2011 one of these two guys started 5 of the 7 Super Bowls played. The 2 Super Bowls during that time that neither one of these two started were both started by Peyton.
After 2004 the Giants didn’t have another losing season until 2013 and didn’t finish last in the NFC east until 2017. From 2005-2012 they won 3 division titles and 2 Super Bowls. As clutch as Eli was and as cool under pressure too during the Giants 2 Super Bowl runs he never won a single playoff game in any other season. He went 0-4 in playoff games outside of those two championship winning seasons. In those games he didn’t complete 60+ percent of his passes in any of them. He threw for fewer than 200 yards per game and only 3 touchdown passes compared to 7 interceptions. The Giants only averaged 11 points in the four games and 3 of them were decided well before the actual end of the game. But he was money in the two Super Bowl runs and is still a HOF quarterback.
I look at this Crowd vs MetLife Crowd. Night and day difference with the energy..MetLife don't be rocking like Old Giants Stadium you'd think it would with being a newer stadium lol
