I was a senior in high school when this game was played. Time flew by so fast. Hard to believe Eli’s career has already ended and Ben’s career is nearing its end. Both should be in the HOF some day.
Eli should be in the hall of fame but becaus ethe era he played in, the teams he played on and his average play compared to the rest of the league he should not make it in his first 5 years of eligibility
Madden Moments agree
Was a freshman, same year my red sox won world series , my Auburn tigers went undefeated and should of played USC, and even though my packers choked against vikings in wild card round after we swept the season series...., all and all a great friggen year mostly
Remember this game too I was about 14 years old honestly we should’ve won this game but we beat them in 2009 the year they won the Super Bowl!
I think that Big Ben will make it but Eli no
Really cool to see some of these early 2000's games in HD. A lot of people didn't have HD televisions in their house at the time, and of course quality online viewing wasn't around then.
Oh yea, my tube tv was miles behind this.
As a unbiased fan of the Steelers it was a blessing to see these 2 play. 2 of the best QBs of all-time drafted in the same draft and both with 2 Superbowl Rings. Both first ballot HOF no doubt.
Dude go to 4:21 its clete Blakemen before he was a head official
Hector Rodriguez Eli should’ve won 3 rings as well. People forget plaxico literally shot him self in the leg the year we were going to defend our chip
Eli should not be first ballot because he was always average compared to the rest of the league and even his stats that are extremely padded by the years he played in aren't top 8.He also struggled in the playoffs outside those 2 super bowl seasons. Eli should make it but not first ballot.
@@maddenmoments8748 his organization was average his a higher middle pack QB wit Ben Carson Kurt not elite but in due hands a franchise one his bs gm bullshit half his career down the drain
@@ReezyR His super bowl seasons though he had a ton of weapons and a good defense
This was an underrated game to watch!!
Funny part is except for big ben the 04 steelers were better than the team who won lol
Legendary matchup
War damn eagle also but ya this game a classic and I love these random games
Anyone else just binge watch these throwback games on UA-cam? They are so exciting and nostalgic
Ya i do and war damn eagle in regards to the 2004 auburn tigers
Me
First time in 22 years that the NFL doesn't have a Manning start
30% of the NFL's history a Manning has started
Dont worry arch manning will be there soon
@@maddenmoments8748 maybe in the super bowl era
@@adrianpena800 Exactly Sir!
There’s some teenagers watching this right now who weren’t even born yet when this game was played. This feels like yesterday lol. 😅
Remember being freshman in high school the same year the Boston red sox reversed the curse lol
I was like three or four months old when this was played. Lol 😂
Underrated game with a lot of twists and turns down the stretch. I remember watching this game on replay the day after. I also remember that the TMQ speculated that Randle-El's Touchdown pass was the fastest thrown TD in NFL history.
War damn eagle Auburn
And between them both they threw 3 of the greatest most clutch passes in Super Bowl history .. Both HOF bound you can bet that ....
Ryan Irwin- Diehl And he gone possibly retire without an appearance too
Eli not a hof hasnt been consistent enough
Exar Kun He not only outplayed Brady ... He beat him TWICE in the Super Bowl and Brady is the GOAT .... That only guarantees Eli is HOF bound bro maybe not first ballot but he’s definitely in
Ben is first ballot and Eli is second or third but for sure it gonna be in canton one day
Not my goat
The Steelers blew us out 27-3 earlier that season, but barely beat the Giants. Football is weird as hell lol.
Parity
Bc the Shegles suck KeyOCK
The Steelers were missing Plax Burress and Ike Taylor in this game, their best cover guy and their best WR that season. That's a big blow to any team. Wee Willie Williams was their #1 corner in this game, and he was pretty awesome this year, but not the guy you want chasing around Toomer, for sure.
@@gakk8658 They still got destroyed by Tom Brady lol
that's why they play the games
Remember when football was played in front of fans ? Those were the good ol’ days.
Fans are at games ..
@@fhoeschasepape wym they at v games rn
It's gotta suck for Phillip Rivers that Ben and Eli each have two rings while Rivers has never even been to a Super Bowl. Philip Rivers will probably go into the HOF, eventually, but Ben and Eli already had their spots reserved years ago.
I honestly don't think Rivers will be a HOFer...mayyyybe down the line but definitely not a 1st balloter
And his predecessor formally of the Chargers won one with one of the laughingstocks of the NFL the Saints (Brees)
Phil had a worse franchise to deal with. Amazing that that 94 Chargers team made the Super Bowl with Stan Humphries but none of the Brees or Rivers teams could.
@@wessteinfeld3337 that’s absolutely ridiculous
Eli was not a hall of famer caliber QB. He had 2 of the best drives in NFL history but that the only thing he has. Rivers was far superior to Manning as an everyday QB. Ben is the only lock for Hof
Those legendary scoreboards
I was at this game when I was 14. The Giants may have lost, but it was encouraging to see something positive from rookie Eli and the offense for a change.
One of the greatest QB duels in history
Ryan Irwin- Diehl Literally two of the greatest quarterbacks that Football has ever seen
Ryan Irwin- Diehl 7th in all time passing yards and 8th in all time TDs, 2 rings, and a spot in the HOF. How is he not one of the greatest of all time?
@@coreylynch5759 hof you have to be consistent which eli wasnt for a couple of years
@@coreylynch5759 eli manning career record was 500 (that means tied)
@@coreylynch5759 sry for bad grammer
Hearing Jerome Bettis and seeing bill cower man I miss the this team I knew ever steeler now I rarely watch football.
Aired December 19th, 2004? Damn
So many great players in this game besides the QBs as well
Joey porter
The Black and Gold Brigade vs The Derp
AKA UrinatingTree vs FivePointVids
Tonights stream will be legendary
Brought to you in HD TV! Remember when only rich people even had HD TVs?
This will be Burrow and Tua, Burrow and Young, never have I ever been so excited before.
Tua sucks too much
1st of 4 meetings between Eli and Ben. Ben has a 3-1 record against Eli. The lone loss was 2008, oddly the Steelers SB season.
Forgot they matched up with nfc east that year....
NFL Throwbacks I said this last video and I will say it again I love you so much and I love this channel so much thank you so much for making this channel you are just awesome bro
Hell ya and war eagle
They do community service for nfl throwback addicts lmao
I was there for this. great memories.
Auburn great reggie Torbor lol
There's only 1 person on that entire field still playing today..Ben
That is amazing2
I don't think we're ever going to see another Antwon Randall El. There's not a thing he couldn't do. He was arguably one of the best special teams players in NFL history and he was a quarterback, blocker, running back and a receiver. He was an overachiever.
EXACTLY and he should have been mvp in seattle superbowl he was responsible for a 14 point swing threw bomb to ward for td and when ben threw interception and their guy ran up theright sidelines el was all the way on other side of field streaked up and across field to stop him from scoring not may people remember this but i sure did ...he should have been mvp!
I remember this game but I’d forgotten just how close it actually was. Back and forth, definitely was an epic QB dual. And such quality video coverage.
Bettis was a monster. Like watching an offensive tackle who's nimble, agile.
WOW. I tottally do not remember this game.
I remember when steelers played the cowboys more and pulled it out late
I'll take any early-mid 2000s game in HD! Good stuff.
Truly what a legendary matchup this was , but in their primes were just unbelievable
4:21 its clete Blakemen from 2004
Big Ben looking like Brett Favre out there 🔥
3:53
"76 is eligible"
-Somebody 2004
War damn eagle
Eli Manning's rookie year 💯
Jerome The Bus Bettie definitely missed in the NFL
Also big Ben's rookie year too
@@aaronlrodriguez yep
He has CTE now
Watching this as a jets fan confirms to me Darnold is not a franchise qb
Adam gase not QB whisperer?
Why cause it was former Marshall greats Penningtons last year healthy?
Steelers really had this magical season just to get stomped by flu stricken Tom Brady in the AFC Championship game lmfao.
This steelers team was way better than 2005 one that actually won lol except big ben because he was more playoff ready in 2005 cause he wasnt a rookie and until 2005 even though he was a great coach it always seemed like bill cowher choked in big games almost on a marty schottenheimer level
Don’t forget the Patriots cheated during these years...
@@chasehigdon3934 Yes They Did My Friend, The Patriots Were Cheaters!
I miss Eli 😥
Same man. Watching these old highlights makes me sad lol, the giants used to be fun to watch win or lose. Now it's just fuckin sad lol
13:06
Shockey was a BEAST
Ya but lost his edge once eli showed up and he had better chemistry with kevin boss
These guys are my childhood 🥲
Can't believe don't people think Ben isn't a HOFer. He's on the verge of being an all time great. If he gets another ring I'd give it to him.
Yeah idk who thinks he isn't.. cause he def is
All those great years, over 60k yards +2 SB guarantees he is in the hall.
This was the first game you see Eli and Tyree had a special connection
If only Tyree could've actually stayed healthy.
these were the good days of football...
Look how young James Harrison and Troy Palumalu was physically and knowledge of the game. Those guys evolved into assassin on the field......
Bens rookie year was the year I really started to get into football, so cool to watch this now. I was 8 in 04
During Eli's first half of his career he was as dangerous as dangerous gets
1:50 When Ben Rothlesburger could actually run
Yep
20:22 that’s PI smh
Wow a David tyree catch
It's kind of crazy seeing this game is HD. It looks like this game happened 5 years ago
You are the man!!
I was inky in 7th grade ND 2nd year playing football when this game happened
I miss these days
@@ericpackers1700 me too..sorta
That Ponder guy was ELECTRIC
I was -1 years old when that game was played! Before this video ends, I know that Pittsburgh won because they went 15-1 and their one loss was at the beginning of the season
I was only like a few months old when this game was played
I can't comprehend how at one time Jim Nantz's voice was so tame by this time...
Might 49ers vs. Jets from 1998 (aka the Garrison Hearst game) be on the horizon this week since the two teams match up this coming Sunday?
Quite a few, that would end up in the Hall here, and a few more will be in time. Lot of talent being shown here. And 4 Superbowl rings between them to come in just a few years.
I remember this game. It was my senior year of college. Its funny that no one knew BOTH these QB's would be rather epic and lead their respective teams to MULTIPLE SuperBowl victories. Nope, back then we were just watching one hell of a shoot-out between two young goofy looking rooks. I must say however, despite how well Eli and co. played, there was never any hope. The Steelers in 2004-2005 were ON FIRE and completely unstoppable. Possibly one of the most "stacked" NFL teams of the modern era. 2004 was also the year the Steelers ended Tom Brady and Belichick's 21 game winning streak handing the Pats a disasterous loss AND a handful of injuries... and we all know how 2005 season ended, blasting through Eli's brother for a Superbowl victory against the SeaHawks in Feb '06.
Fast Forward a few years (2008) and Eli Manning and David Tyree would connect on some incredible plays to ALSO dethrone an undefeated Patriots team! So long story short, this game showcases the dawn of two QBs who would upset the GOAT (Brady) on multiple occaisions and take their teams to multiple Superbowl games. (BigBen - 2006-2009-2011 // Eli: 2008-2012)
Both would go on to become 2-time Super Bowl championship QBs - in fact from 2005 to 2011 one of these two guys started 5 of the 7 Super Bowls played. The 2 Super Bowls during that time that neither one of these two started were both started by Peyton.
I was at this game. Like sitting on an ice cube. Go Steelers.
I had forgotten just how bad our defense was in those years. In fact, if u look at every year during Eli’s career, only twice (maybe 3 x) did they finish in the top 15 in overall defense. (2 super bowl years). All years beside that: 23rd, 27th, 24th, etc….
It was the only way I could watch this vid
Eli has always been a class act. Coming from a life long Steeler's fan.
After 2004 the Giants didn’t have another losing season until 2013 and didn’t finish last in the NFC east until 2017. From 2005-2012 they won 3 division titles and 2 Super Bowls. As clutch as Eli was and as cool under pressure too during the Giants 2 Super Bowl runs he never won a single playoff game in any other season. He went 0-4 in playoff games outside of those two championship winning seasons. In those games he didn’t complete 60+ percent of his passes in any of them. He threw for fewer than 200 yards per game and only 3 touchdown passes compared to 7 interceptions. The Giants only averaged 11 points in the four games and 3 of them were decided well before the actual end of the game. But he was money in the two Super Bowl runs and is still a HOF quarterback.
What a game
Who's here after seeing the Steelers beat the Giants tonight?
17 years ago and the steelers still couldn't cover the TE
I look at this Crowd vs MetLife Crowd. Night and day difference with the energy..MetLife don't be rocking like Old Giants Stadium you'd think it would with being a newer stadium lol
I was There !!! Seems like yesterday !!
You got the Broncos vs Panthers 2004 game? First game I ever attended at Mile High as a kid.
James Harrison diving for that tipped ball
Thumbnail have Ben like "I can pass it"
Then Eli is like "I can run it"
Thought Steelers was going to win chip this year…knew we had a QB watching Ben to Plaxico
Hines Ward was the most vicious peel-back blocker wide receiver ever
If I'm not mistaken, I think this was a Saturday afternoon game!?
Glad we got Plaxico from the Steelers
Yep I called this last week lol
NICE CHOICE OF GAME!! 👍🖤💛
Post the 2008 game between these 2 teams/qbs

I miss the saturday noon football
If only Eli didn’t retire we would’ve had this game yesterday
@J H I mean yeah but u guys won 2 SB against us so yeah
Selectively MUTE Simms. It makes the game so much better. Cris was the best announcer ever. Too bad he got stuck with Simms.
We win know and we are steelers beating up the giants
Dick lebau and jim Johnson I would take over bill belicheck
Ben rapez
Damn the crowd volume was really annoying back then
Sure that was a nice catch but I doubt Manning and Tyree will ever connect on another deep pass.
Lmao 🤣🤣
Wtf the whole line flinched at 9:30
Can you please do the bills and chiefs game playoff game this year please
20 years later and that missed PI still pisses me off hahaha
Cool video
Steelers took the ring that yr. They had a strong running game and Defense. Roethlisberger is fun to watch just like Eli is
They didn't win the Super Bowl in Ben's rookie year...
A little part of Michael Vick possessed Eli this game lmao!
Pretty dominant offense Steelers had for while the bus bettis was around and there defense crazy good Big Ben I don’t think he’s underrated I do think he was great his last few years in the league were forgetful
Eli Manning had the best pocket presence out of all his contemporaries that's one thing he did better
2k5 at its best:)
Great game I think the Steelers kick coverage team would have better off just kicking the ball out of bounds ....the worst I saw the giants starting field position on kicks was around mid field
Steelers are 12 and 1 at this point
BIG BEN THE ORIGINAL COME BACK KID A HARD FOUGHT GAME BUT BEN COMES OUT THE WINNER THERE GOES THE STEELERS HERO NEVER SAY NEVER WHEN BEN HAS THE BALL
Wr chris doering from Florida the guy on sec network anyone know?
