Since both teams finished 12-4 the Colts would have had the tie breaker except that Pittsburgh won their division and the Colts were a wild card. If the Steelers had 1 elite CB and a consistent RB after Parker slowed down these years they would've been a dynasty from 05 - 11. Thats all they were missing and they never did anything to fix it then their line started to fall apart as players got older and new guys never panned out aside from Pouncey. Life long fan and I can go thru a hundred instances where their CBs got torched when the game was on the line.
The colts from the peyton manning era reminds me of the braves teams of the 90s in mlb because all the regular season sucess and early playoff exits and only one ring....
A good veteran-led team that started out 10-0, and finished 13-3. Not the most talented team, but had good players all around, and had Kerry Collins as QB. It's kinda ironic, but they remind me a little of this current steelers team.
16:21:16:22 the Pittsburgh Steelers were that close in winning that game. If y’all didn’t see, the ball almost ended up in the Steelers hands for a TD but that DB had an 99 OVR in awareness to pick off the ball
Not only did the Colts beat the Steelers, but they flat out trampled them by nearly three scores on their home field for the first time since 2005, the score could've been 37-13 if the touchdown earlier was (rightfully not) in fact an actual catch in the end zone!!!
I was at this game with my dad, uncle and cousin. We were so frustrated, the Steelers offense was awful. One of those games where Ben was off the whole time. My uncle would scream after every Ben INT, “You can’t do that against a Hall of Famer!” Meaning you can’t give the ball back to Manning so easily.
I keep watching games from this year and before, and noticed something: the game was faster. While some dolt is going to chime in about how the "game has evolved" and the players are all bigger, faster, and stronger today... they are just wrong. Objectively and irrefutably wrong. The players played with much more velocity and aggression in the 90's and 00's, were every bit as big and athletic as they are today, QB's weren't just a bunch of backyard improv scramblers like they are today, and defenses were allowed to actually play defense. Unlike today, which artificially inflates QB numbers (even for those in their 40's...).
No players are faster today just look at the linebackers. This is 2008 so many of the rule changes that effect the game today had happened already. There just wasn’t as much offensive innovation in rpos and options yet
Tbh, Dungy's Colts should have never had a ring. They were always carried by Peyton Manning and his excellence in the regular season and were just flat out lucky every single year that the rest of the AFC South was meh at best. And they barely had any defense at all. And it showed how outmatched they always were when the playoffs came around and they were always one and done with 2006 being the exception. If Peyton had been drafted by another team, the Colts would have never had a ring
They had hall of famers all around the offenses. And the notion the Colts didn’t have any defense is simply false. The main reason they won the title in 06 was because of the defense and if you look at most of their losses in the 2000s in the playoffs the colts defense played well in most of those matchups.
This was the last time the Colts beat the Steelers and that didn't happen much. It's only the 3rd time the Colts have beat them and it doesn't include the Baltimore Colts. This season was also Dungy and Marvin Harrison's last season. Ended up losing to Philip Rivers and the Chargers in the wild card and now Philip Rivers is now with the Colts
This was when willie Parker was no longer a factor and Peyton only had garcon and Wayne and relied heavily on adai, not to mention santonio Holmes was a game changer in this short lil run he had
This 2020 Defense we have now is the Best Defense we’ve had since 2008. The only reason they aren’t playing as well as they were earlier this season is cause of all the damn injuries we’ve had......
Is Ben an all time great QB? It's a really good question. Cause he's had a good team around him most of the time, but they he was rarely used early in his career. That decreased his numbers (even through they are still great). Then theres how tough he is just standing in the pocket like that, and how he rarely starts a game without finishing it. And don't forget that pumpfake, second to none and has gotten plenty of big yard plays and TDs. So it seems like a yes, but when you say names like Manning, Brees, Brady, Montana, Marino, he doesn't give you that same vibe. What do others think?
As a Steelers Fan, I would say yes, he’s an all-time great. But at the same time, he doesn’t compare to the QB’s you named above, so there is just a big gap in the all-time great QB’s in my opinion
@@EdmacZ his numbers are there, in his career he's been able to put his team on his back, he's made his teammates better, every great QB has a thing they are known for, Ben has his pump fake which can fake out the cameraman, and his big body. There's a case to be made is all I'm saying
I'm totally disgusting with Pittsburgh, 11 and 0 and 0 and 3. This is December 23, 2020. I didn't have my hopes up for this season, then 11 and 0 from nowhere. Three lostes at the end of the season when it counts? A 0 and 3 start then a 11 and 0 would have been much better.
wow the steelers used be able to move the ball offensively? never knew they could do that. what a waste of an 11-0 start. they will now finish 11-5 and be embarrased out of the playoffs in the 1st round. i know its lame to give up on your team before the seasons over but thats how it is. cant believe the freakin browns are gonna win afc north this year

steelersdepot.com/2018/05/roethlisbergers-3rd-down-passing-conversion-rate-tops-in-nfl-since-2001/?Feed%3A+SteelersDepotBlog+%28Steelers+Depot%29
Overall, I conclude that Manning performs better in the postseason and regular season, all while having fairly if not equal supporting casts offensively. And he does all this while throwing longer passes on average, not throwing as many checkdowns.
Manning also did this all with a worse rushing game which I will link below.
This is why Peyton Manning is the Greatest Quarterback Of All Time.

I think it's pretty clear, that Manning has been saddled with worse rushing offenses.
Cold weather Manning:
His weakness was the cold in the early part of his career, in the later part of his career, his last 8 games in under 30 degree weather, he posted over a 105 passer rating. Also, it should be noted that the vast majority of those games were away games, where players normally perform worse.

Marvin Harrison's last season as a colt and had a strange ending to his career imo
Definitely a highlight moment of the 08 Colts season, beating the eventual SB champs. Since both teams finished 12-4 the Colts would have had the tie breaker except that Pittsburgh won their division and the Colts were a wild card. To this day, I remember that Melvin Bullitt interception to close the game. If you watch that deflection on the hail mary, I'm pretty sure Dallas Baker catches it for a game winning TD if Bullitt doesn't get it.
Darren sprites ran all over them in the wild card game

Before this past Saturday game in Indy, i was in high school the last time Colts beat the Steelers. Which was this game here. That was long overdue lol
Manning always threw mortuary passes instead of hospital ones.

I wonder if there was a game where the most future nfl player analyst/commentator appeared in? 94 NFC title game SF 1 Steve Young and the Cowboys had 4 w/ Troy, Irvin, Emmitt, and Moose Johnston.
Colts had a huge comeback win vs Texans that year
13:34 lmao the camera pans to ray jackson (the coach of player development) for a reaction thinking its tomlin

Colts legendary Defense as well!
This was actually the first Colts road win against the Steelers since 1968!
That's incredible, especially considering they play in the same conference.
Forgot how many Interceptions Ben used to throw ALL THE TIME!
Dam what Tennessee team was that
A good veteran-led team that started out 10-0, and finished 13-3. Not the most talented team, but had good players all around, and had Kerry Collins as QB. It's kinda ironic, but they remind me a little of this current steelers team.
The Steelers did win the game that was most important that year
I wonder what this channel is gonna upload when they eventually run out of classic games. 🤔 Probably bios.

Colts vs Steelers on week 16 2020-2021 game COLTS FOR THE WIN!! For the Shoe!!!
Could you please find the 1984 Colts-Steelers Game at the Hoosier Dome please?
Right before this played, Manning was in the commercial.
You could say this about any team😂 their defense was actually pretty good i mean Freeney mathis sanders
I mean you could say this about Tom Brady and the Patriots or Mahomes and the Chiefs, and a lot of other teams. Stop hating on my Colts clown
They had 2 hall of famers at wide out and a hall of fame running back with 2 hall of defensive ends
This was when willie Parker was no longer a factor and Peyton only had garcon and Wayne and relied heavily on adai, not to mention santonio Holmes was a game changer in this short lil run he had
lol that gonzalez guy is my congressman now
This game coming after Colts loses to GB in Lambeau i believe.

If you are a Steelers fan you wish that you had this defense playing right now from 2008 cuz man your defense right now does not look good
This 2020 Defense we have now is the Best Defense we’ve had since 2008.
Ben belongs in the conversation with the good quarterbacks of his era. He doesn't stack up with the all time greats.
@@EdmacZ his numbers are there, in his career he's been able to put his team on his back, he's made his teammates better, every great QB has a thing they are known for, Ben has his pump fake which can fake out the cameraman, and his big body.
There's a case to be made is all I'm saying
Manning was throwing a lot of Hospital Passes in the first half, and the wrong defense to be doing that on. He cleaned it up in the 2nd half tho.
Where the highlights of Luck vs Roethlisberger in 2014?

This should have been the 2008 Divisional game. The mediocre Chargers had to sneak into the playoffs for some reason that year.

I'm totally disgusting with Pittsburgh, 11 and 0 and 0 and 3. This is December 23, 2020.
