Live Mahler is one of the best experiences in life. You haven't lived if you've never been in a Mahler's symphony. I wish I were there...

I just love the introducing drum roll with Sarah Willis covering her ears up! (Left low horn)

I was privileged to see them perform live last night in London. It was a very moving experience for me. I have never heard a more profound version, not even when I saw Dudamel and the Simon Bolivar Youth orchestra at the BBC Proms (and I thought that time would never be surpassed!)
My eternal thanks to this Orchestra and their conductor

I played this a week ago, sitting right in front of the principle timp, orchestal (ie BIG) bass drum and a 40 inch (huge) tam tam.
that moment of the symphony was indescribably terrifying, the conductor was mouthing "louder!" and the sound... my insides were vibrating, it was like a constand explosion then that fffffff F-Ab-C made my vision blurry. I then played the clarinet louder than i ever have and ever will, i thought my reed might shatter in my mouth.
What a symphony, the choir, orchestra and audience were bawling by the end.
This was a university orchestra, I would love to see what the BPO or another brilliant orchestra are capable of creating. sheer terror at that moment probably.

I saw the BPO performing Mahler 2 with Dudamel two weeks ago and I was quite shocked (in a positive way). Especially the finale was amazing.

Super.

No me gusta Rattle.
