Live Mahler is one of the best experiences in life. You haven't lived if you've never been in a Mahler's symphony. I wish I were there...
I just love the introducing drum roll with Sarah Willis covering her ears up! (Left low horn)
Words aren't enough to describe how i feel at 2:04, amazingly beautiful!
I was privileged to see them perform live last night in London. It was a very moving experience for me. I have never heard a more profound version, not even when I saw Dudamel and the Simon Bolivar Youth orchestra at the BBC Proms (and I thought that time would never be surpassed!)
My eternal thanks to this Orchestra and their conductor
I played this a week ago, sitting right in front of the principle timp, orchestal (ie BIG) bass drum and a 40 inch (huge) tam tam.
that moment of the symphony was indescribably terrifying, the conductor was mouthing "louder!" and the sound... my insides were vibrating, it was like a constand explosion then that fffffff F-Ab-C made my vision blurry. I then played the clarinet louder than i ever have and ever will, i thought my reed might shatter in my mouth.
What a symphony, the choir, orchestra and audience were bawling by the end.
This was a university orchestra, I would love to see what the BPO or another brilliant orchestra are capable of creating. sheer terror at that moment probably.
wow
back when I was young, I sang in Mahler 8... it was truly a thrilling roller coaster ride, one of the best moments in my life...
I saw the BPO performing Mahler 2 with Dudamel two weeks ago and I was quite shocked (in a positive way). Especially the finale was amazing.
This performance is nothing less than exceptional in every way. It's one of the greatest compositions of all time!
Wonderful!. Explosive sound of Mahler's Fantastic. Bravo trumpets, air horns, trombones and percussion, and of course, the Orchestra conductor Sir Simon Rattle Mahler who plays with Majesty. Bravo BerlinPhil.Thank you!! Obrigado. Danke!! Greetings from Brazil
Can't agree more!!! I played Mahler 1 on this great stage and it was life changing :D Nothing better in life other than live Mahler!!!!
Super.
Great Maestro Rattle .
A melhor Orquestra Filarmônica do mundo.
Performance perfeita.
Rattle is the best living conductor of Mahler. Period.
1:58....HOLLY SHIT.
Must have been breathtaking to hear this live!
Impressionante!
Wonderful !
4 piccolos! WOAH!
I was on this concert. It's the best concert I have ever been to!
Yup, this is where John Williams learnt his style and technique.
I see Sarah is trying not to listen to the timpani.
Bravo e bravi tutti.
Great.....!!!!!!!
0:12 : Love it!
I love them intalon from string sections
Grandiose!!!
Such teases they are.
J etais dans la salle,inoubliable
Look at Sarah at 0:08! lol
Genial
Great video! I wonder what movement that you take for this part.
This Mahler guy seems to know his stuff.
Woodwinds @ 1:23
Where on earth happened to my Cello.
1:59 Bells Up !!!! Come on
Could you post the brass chorale right before this??????
this is the final movement.

Hm that kinda sounds like a certain christmas melody 2:19
Star Wars
poor Sarah at the beginning! must be awful on the ears sitting right there!
.
Those poor violists in front of FOUR piccolos and an Eb clarinet. My ears are bleeding in sympathy.
No me gusta Rattle.
