- Rules:
1) Your Starter can be modified to which ever Pokemon you wish, however only that Pokemon can ever appear in a battle.
2) Other Pokemon are allowed in the party (for HMs etc.) until the Elite Four. Only the starter may be in the party at that time.
3) No Items may be used in any trainer battle
4) No Glitches are allowed including Pokedoll Skip and Fast Text Glitch (Dig within buildings is not considered a Glitch and is allowed)
5) Time begins upon selecting "New Game" and Ends after the Hall of Fame screen fades to White
6) The console may not be powered off during the run (soft resetting is allowed)

@@N12015 The best one to use against MewTwo, would be Blastoise due to the freeze. Imagine missing the range in a speedrun without items. Then you get frozen by Blizzard. XD

notice it's "former world record" meaning that someone already beat it, and I think my record with a traded alakazam is something like 6 or 8 hours, so the thought of beating 2 hours, let alone that, is inconceivable to me :)

My dude her destroying all the records. After seeing all these vids u post, i have a personal goal to beat pokemon red blue and yellow with every pokemon in a solo run. I completed the starters and im working on a mankey one next. I dont look forward to the lottery tho, haha😅

@@artiomgera6686 I have finished last month.... I have found out that caterpie, metapod, weedle, kakuna, and magikarp cannot learn bude or seismic toss. So i couldnt beat lavender town 😭🤣

Another rule should be that the player must obtain the Silph Scope in Celadon and vanquish Marowak's ghost that way, rather than with a Poke Doll. Since that's how you played your run.
The doll should only be allowed in the glitch category. However, the point speed runners contradict themselves in this game. Is that, what fricking sense does it make to have two items that does a similar thing? In that case, might as well just save the space, and eliminate one or the other. Then there is the whole thing that in the remakes, they fixed the poke doll glitch, and required players to do Celadon.
Then there is the whole other thing, that the poke doll avoids the battle, counting it as a win. When the Silph Scope forces the player to do the battle. If they flee, they have to still do it. Reasons like this is why I hate generation 1 speedrun specifically. Since they are deliberately twisting a truth to make things easier on themselves. If glitches were allowed, fine, whatever. Though, if it said glitchless. Other than badge boost which you cannot avoid. It should be done entirely without other glitches.
The doll is not an exploit, since it is forcing the game to do something it was not programmed to do. Merely a missing line of code to put in place as a check to prevent another outcome from happening. As far as I can tell, a lot of gen 1 speed runs are not legitimate. Other than the ones that allows glitches or exploits.
An exploit is like the A.I. Where you can manipulate what the opponent does based on type element.

Have you considered doing a solo Snorlax run? His stats scale brilliantly, has a deep move pool including psychic and ice barrage and alot of status abilities. Coupled with his large health you can badge boost him very effectively.
Would be really interesting to see how he compares!
I would also LOVE a video where you show us your setup, the various soft and hardware that you use to make the vids. I'm sure like me not a lot of people have seen game sharks or the cartridges in action.

Afaik you can put it in like a special place for novelty runs, and if it gets competitive, the community can decide to make it an official category.

Due to space limitations if I remember correctly. A lot of Pokemon have similar cries in Gen 1. I think Charizard and Rhydon have identical cries but I can't remember off the top of my head :>
