sorry to sound rude but everyone makes this comment, i dont get how this is funny you need competition and you clearly win when you beat him in the end so whats your point
ive never speedran before, and watching you, without any manips, just allowed me to do this in 3:30. my goal was under 4, Congratulations and thank you!
Nidoran is good, Mankey with low kick is better. Honestly all 3 on your team is clutch for the first 3 or 4 gyms. I usually ditched Butterfree as soon as I could get a Kadabra
OMG The Nostalgia is real! I remember playing this in middle school. We would trade pokemon and battle with the Link cables! Man thoes were the days! 💯
again this is not funny, you need competition in life specially from your rival and you end up beating him in the end so its not about how fast you make it or who beats the first gyms first. so whats your point
I have watched this 2-3 times and still think its crazy as the swing from so far behind to WR pace is insane. Just makes me think imagine if that early game was slightly faster :o
48:10 Oh that's how that room works! I was confused because when I went in I just hit the two in the top right corner and it instantly let me through. I was like "wait was that a puzzle? Did I break it?"
For those who struggle against Brock, I didn’t beat him either. But then I learned what you need to do to beat him. I don’t own Pokémon Yellow, but I was allowed to borrow a copy to play on the school bus when I was in high school. Anyways, here’s what’ll make him easier: -All trainers in the gym use Ground type Pokémon, which are immune to Electric attacks which makes Pikachu useless against the Jr Male’s Diglett and Sandshrew and Brock’s Geodude and Onix -If you catch a Caterpie, you must let it fully evolve into Butterfree to stand a chance against Brock’s gym -Mankey and Nidoran Female are two other options. Nidoran Female can learn Double Kick, making her very useful for the gym Oh, and you’ll have to lose the first two fights against Gary. This may seem like a stupid thing to do, but winning both fights results in him evolving his Eevee into a Jolteon. But by losing the fights, you’ll go up against a Vaporeon instead, which is weak to Electric!
Interesting. One database said Nidoran-m gets double kick at lvl 43, other database said it gets it at lvl 12. When I did a run in Pokemon Red, I remember being sad about not getting double kick early. Strange.
For a few months i love watching speedruns haha. The tactics, all little but important choices, really fun to watch. But I saw a battle or tournament between you and Gunner on UA-cam. Games done quick or something? Is this ever going to happen again?
Are you doing RNG manipulation with those saves? Edit: Holy cow, the MT. Moon section is nuts. Are you pressing A to make it work like that or is it just the way you walk? Man, I'm gonna grab some repels... for that section, I can't even begin to understand this sorcery right now.
2 questions regarding the save-quitting when you enter a new area sometimes like when you 1st enter mt moon. 1. Why does it look like the game is automatically quiting itself when you're just using the save option. 2. Why do you save and quit there?
1. He is quitting by resetting through a physical button, rather then through the game. 2. This is for resetting the RNG (random number generator.) This is used to catch pokemon and avoid random encounters.
@@cnedden The gameboy doesn't have any way to generate actual random numbers (eg. for random encounters etc.), so relies on a pseudo random number generator (often just called the RNG) instead. The inputs that you give the game determine the inputs to the RNG, and as the RNG is deterministic, this determines the output of the RNG. Resetting the console resets the RNG, then a specific series of button presses from then on ensure the RNG is always the value you want, hence controlling all random events in the game. You may wonder how you can consistently enter so many inputs correctly (eg. almost all inputs in mt. moon,) but this is possible as the game only checks inputs after an action (eg. walking one square forward,) which takes at least a couple frames.) There are some additional details, such as that firmware effects the initial value of the RNG upon reset, but this comment is already too long.
Someone in the comments here says they watched this and didn't do any manips (I'm assuming they mean rng manips) and managed a 3 hour finish despite never having done a speed run before.
His pulse went from 80 something to 170 at the end. Jesus man, congratulations on the win but it’s just not worth the stress. I was legitimately concerned for his health.
22:42 - 24:18. Am I missing something? Is there some trick here? Because there's absolutely no shot he just WALKED THROUGH MT. MOON AND DIDNT CATCH 15 ZOOOBATS. Am I missing something??? Because in what multiverse has this ever happened with an original game cartridge?? I speedrun for fun. Pretty sure I'm way faster than this dude, and that's not rng lol. That's manipulation. Edit: man, I love the format and decisions, but 100% encounter manipulation that can't necessarily be determined, but if you play you know. That's lame. Good strats, but the chances of this run being real are astronomical without infinite repels.

Ah Pokémon Yellow, one of the few Game Boy games to have voice samples in it. It’s nice to hear “Pika” instead of simple 8-bit sounds in an 8-bit game
I died a little inside when he boxed the Pikachu
I'm kinda a pikachu hater, but even I feel a bit hurt from it
Pikachu was deemed to be dead weight :(
I struggled so much to beat Brock in this game as a kid, lmao. I used to catch a Caterpie and turn it into Butterfree to beat him
The nidoran line is right there man. The move double kick comes early for them in level up. The best pokemon, Nidoking baby.

Pokemon Purple with Grimer as the mascot would be cool.
This is gonna be a great watch
