Sauteed Potatoes. The best pan fried potatoes
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 вер 2020
- In today's video, I'm going to show you how to fry potatoes in a pan (make sauteed potatoes).
Little cubes of seasoned crispy fried potatoes with a fluffy interior and a hint of garlic.
These sautéed potatoes take around 30 minutes, and they're a fantastic accompaniment to that special dinner. I particularly like them with creamy dishes like steak stroganoff or chicken in creamy white wine sauce for date night.
Full recipe for sauteed potatoes here: www.kitchensanctuary.com/saut...
Ingredients:
120 ml vegetable oil
3 medium floury potatoes - approx. 700g or 1.5lbs- such as Maris Piper - peeled and chopped into 1 inch chunks
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 fat clove of garlic - peeled and minced

This is how a potato recipe should be, quick and simple. Thank you.
right!!
Ima try this out right now 😁

I like McDonald’s.. but they say you are what you eat. fast easy and cheap..
@@jesscolliflower5531 *turns into a potato*
I have been been frying potatoes for years. This was the first time that I boiled the potatoes first for home fries. They were quick and easy and so delicious! I cooked them with eggs for breakfast. Thank you for this quick and easy recipe.
same lol
Fries for breakfast? WTF yo
You can also use a touch of baking powder to really fluff the outer edges of the potatoes as well for a nice texture addition
@@Freeflier1978 Thank you for the tip. I will try that.
@@jtoker9758no, diced. You never had diced potatoes with your eggs in the morning?
Thank you, my daughter and I will be making these tonight. God bless you, and keep you safe.....so we can have great recipes. Lol
As an 11 year old this looks like something i could actually do.
quillzy i wish you success and joy in everything you do including making these potatoes
hell ya quillzy. you got this
Thats so lovely Qillzy.
Let’s us know how your cooking journey is going
im 30 and im thinking also the same.
I made this earlier this evening but left the skins on the potatoes and it worked wonderfully. I was surprised at how much of a difference boiling the potatoes before frying made. This was also great because I can't afford many ingredients, so thank you so much for posting this awesome recipe.
Great 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I never take the skins off potatoes. Lose too many vitamins if you do.
@@morrismonet3554True indeed potato skin adds texture to the dish and you save time peeling the potato. Just ensure u scrub the potato skin before cooking.
@@sumit6190pI don't think it matters if you scrub them or not, since the cooking process kills any bacteria and simmering them probably removes most debris.
I'm doing it rn, these potatoes are taking forever to get golden brown
It's been 15 min now😿
I'm 13 home alone with my siblings I carefully made this it was delicious they loved it
gg bro
Omg, these taste so good-
I added a little bit of onion powder and paprika though. They were suuuper crispy. Better than fries imo
Yep, paprika will do that. Really good stuff!
Basically fries but easier to cut and pan fried not deep fried
This recipe is so good that even if you somehow fail they will turn to french fries, which are always nice! Don't ask me how I know.
Thank*you, for the laugh.
😁
I've literally just made these potatoes and it's amazing how the garlic makes all the difference! Don't forget to add it in!
A tasty and simple recipe. Thank you 🙂
My mom made potatoes this way for a snack and would season with cajun seasoning and melt shredded cheese over... still a favorite comfort food of mine to this day 🤤
Just be sure to grate the cheese yourself.
I've been making these for years a favorite at our table. We use olive oil and Cajun spice.
😋
Mmm Cajun sounds good
It's funny you should mention the Cajun seasoning. Years ago one of my roommates moved out and left behind some food. Among the things they left were a few cans of salmon and some Cajun seasoning. I thought the Cajun seasoning might be good on the salmon. I coated the salmon with flour and fried it in canola oil. When it was brown I sprinkled some Cajun seasoning on it and fried it for a few more minutes. It's one of my favorite dishes.
That's right Olive oil. Not that GMO vegie oil crap.
@@meatwad1 I love Cajun. When I worked at Red Lobster I use to make our Cajun chicken Alfredo all the time for my meal. I use it at home a lot also.
I don’t think I’ve ever gone wrong with your recipes, many thanks. Colin
Glad you like them Colin :)

It’s 11pm and now I want fried potatoes 🤤
The same comments are all over the world under each video about fried potatoes )) And by the way I'm watching it at 11:56 pm... Going to fry some...
I felt the same urge at exactly 11 pm...and guess what, I actually made these at 11 pm
I feel you comerade.
Wtf it’s 11pm for me too. Coincidence? I think not
same 11:05 pm :o
Day-am! I just ate breakfast, but this made me hungry again. I love potatoes so much, and these look WONDERFUL!
You and me both!
I love this! As someone who gets really intimidated by cooking, this was the perfect meal. Great video!
Same! So easy to follow and straight to the point!
That's how my mother used to do 50 years ago. Boil the potatoes with the skin let them cool just to pell the skin off. Slice them in about 4 mm thick, season one side. heat up a frying pan with a little oil or butter. Fry one side for a minute or two, then the other side. Slicing them in 4 mm thick makes it easier to fry and uses less oil/butter
Tried these a couple times recently, absolutely loved them. Thanks for this!
I love these recipes that look so good but made simple for the home chefs thanks so much
Excellent potato! I can already see how happy my guests will be. Thank you.
I love you for sharing this quick and simple recipe that makes crispy potatoes. Thank you
Neededa potato dish to go with my chicken, and I'm so glad I went with this one! It's deliciously crisp! Definitely making tons more of these in the future 😋
Mmm so making this with my tea on the side before bed, just a good snack. Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for your recipe it was quick and simple, my wife and I really enjoyed them!
Pretty kick a** recipe and real simple. This is the kind of cooking that feeds the masses.
Super helpful, quick and to the point! I'll be using this method to make my lunch 😁
My hubby loves it! Thank you for a good and simple recipe!
I second that. I saw the sautéed potato episode this morning. Made for dinner this evening. Delicious! Thank you.
After straining the potatoes i do coat them with a small amount of flour which gives them a nice texture. Thanks for your great recipes.
Made this on the weekend and they were a hit! I added chili flakes and dried parsley as well :)
Made these basically this same way for years. Though after boiling I like to shake them in a large wire sieve - roughens them up a little more for the frying. Nice with sweet paprika.
Lately my doctor has forbidden them. Funny how they seem to taste twice as nice now... 😉
You know the rule: If it tastes good, the doctor bans it.
@@warrenalexander5285
I have my own rule. If the doctor bans it, it tastes twice as good!
😆😆😆😆😆😆
I used to have a cunning plan to live forever. Currently, it's on hold... 😉😉😄
@@MrMcCawber I like it
I just calculated the calories of 120ml oil….1059!!! 😱😱
@@ZeatherMusic you don't eat all the oil. when cooking on high heat only small amount is absorbed.
I tried this using garlic butter instead of oil, added a some mint along with salt and pepper. Absolutely delicious with my bacon omelette 😋 👌
Your videos are top notch. Every British mum needs to see this channel!
thanks for this, I find using an oven to be much more of an ordeal, these look delicious
I love how the recipes from this channel are so simple yet so delicious 😍
I followed these instructions exactly and they are perfectly cooked and crispy!
I've been cooking these for years and my family loves it, thank you
I thought it was only supposed to take a few minutes and not years!
Thanks for this: very clear and easy to follow, and my goodness they look good!
thank you!! I just moved in my new house and didn’t have a pan to put in the oven but this allowed me to still eat them without having to go back out to the store (:
Quick, easy and yummy.🤤 Thanks for sharing.🤗
Damn. I thought I knew how to do fried potatoes, but set my ego to the side and tried following instructions. These were awesome, thank you.
You taught me how to cook potatoes deliciously. Great job!
Cooked the same twice in the last couple weeks, could be addictive, they were beautiful and am yet to try different spices ,flavourings etc , endless options. Greetings from Australia.

Happy Christmas from the month of July!
I made this today and it was pretty good but I'd prefer to salt the boiled potatoes before frying cuz I like my meals a little salty 😁
Thank you for sharing the recipe 🥰
my dad used to make these , never knew how to do it untill now , gonna try this tomorrow :)
I cooked these potatoes for dinner tonight and they came out perfect!
Nice! Every Saturday I make my Rosemary, Garlic, Merlot potatoes!
Hi Nicky!! You're spot-on there - they went perfectly with your creamy chicken and white wine sauce recipe. Indeed, my friend described it as 'delish grub, Peter'. LOL!! Thanks again. :) :) :)
Ha ha so glad you enjoyed them :)

I was hungry in the middle of the night, then i found this video.
Thanks for the easy dish ❤️
Thank you for posting. I made it for the first time and it was a hit! Have a great one!!
I do a little variation of this: after draining them I toss them in a bit of baking soda dissolved in water to get that rough surface. Then I deep fry them until brown.
You have a very nice channel, I wish you success
Thank you very much
@@Kitchensanctuary thanks for the recipee. Can this be done without removing the potatoes skin?
Nice channel? Shes cooking potatoes... seriously?
@@geniocristo5297 might be why they said channel and not video? You'd be amazed how many people might benefit from such a simple thing as this though, my housemate is 32 and cant fry an egg. 😊

Always like your recipes, simple and concise. However, today I would place them on kitchen towel first to get rid of some of the oil........

Just tried this...absolutely lovely!!
I’m going to make these for my mum tonight
The army were good at these, national service 1959-61
They still are!! I went to bct this time last year and that’s the reason I’m trying to make it today 😂
I’ve made them today ,for dinner, and ate them with fish and extra garlic. It’s the first time I cooked potatoes this way but I must tell you they are delicious! Thanks Nicky!🤗
@VistaCorp I used Sea bass ☺️..it’s my favourite
As far as I know, sea bass is not high in mercury or at least it doesn’t make the top 10 list. I eat it about once a month alternating with salmon and trout because I like those too.
Replying is always easy when you get notified on UA-cam and also in emails 🙃
I have just tried making these and it was AMAZING!!

You are so welcome!
you are so lovely person and it is a joy to listen to you! delicious potatoes btw :-)
Thank you so much 😀
One of the best, easiest, tastiest and obtainable recipes
I have followed the recipe and its fantastic! Thank you so much!
I am changing the way I cook my potatoes! I almost could taste them thru the screen.
Why peel?? The flavour and the vitamins are all in the skin..
Yes but so is all the racism
@George No.
@@georgetopuzov4023 as if race is skin deep...
Skin contains an alkaloid called Solanin which is toxic.
@@cyriljacob4839 OK well in that vein, the whole potato is a fruit from the nightshade family of plants and contains a large amount of lectin, like tomatos and aubergine, lectin is also toxic.. To be fair though it effects some more than others.. But alot of people with cancer do go on lectin free diets and get good results
YOU MADE THIS SO SIMPLE AND FAST THANK YOU FOR THE VID ❤
I tried these today..they came out fantastic
Wow ... They look superb x 😍
Thank you so much 😊
I was thinking about how I should cook my potatoes!
Same...looks like you stop cooking right after the water boils?
@@robichj I think she boiled them first, then fried them.
Thanks for the recipe! I’ll cook this today.
Ok I loved the way they look but how did they change in size? 👀 because they were big chunks
I think I added too much oil and my spices too soon, but even so it had a bunch of crispies these turned out so good! Nice and crispy on the outside soft and creamy inside! This recipe paired so well with my chicken breast! Plus with the price of food, I gotta start utilizing my potatoes. I would make these again for sure! For a first attempt I was very pleased and excited to do it even better next time!!
Yeah, really easy to misjudge the oil and spices. The best way I can tell is, if you think it'll be another 1-2 minutes of cooking that is when you want to add the spices. They shouldn't be on the stove longer than a couple minutes after seasoning.
This is so simple and good. Now with that said, I refuse to take personal responsibility for how many of these that I eat, I choose to blame you. Thank*you, so much for sharing.
Looks delicious. Thank you for this real handy recipe!
Made them they're super beautiful
Would cook with rosemary too, for that extra bit of rustic taste.
Just cooked it. It's simple and nicely yum and crispy. Thanks much for this. ✨
Thank you so much! Wonderfully explained. Many blessings to your channel.
Great content. Brill recipes.
Glad you think so!
So with so much oil, they're basically fried.
Butter is better. Just can't cook them as fast as oil.
not basically, they're shallow fried but I'll bet their tasty.
@@xAnAngelOfDeathx Yeah, butter burns on that heat. Not pretty. Could use lard instead, or goose fat even.
@@rauminen4167 I should have clarified, use medium heat, it takes awhile but crispy (think potato chip) butter fried mushrooms are great.
It's what is often called skillet potatoes in the U.S. midwest. I personally use Russet or Idaho spuds without boiling (peeled or not), add e.v.o.o./ veg oil, med. onion, garlic and fresh jalapeno. Add a meat (if desired) such as SPAM, chicken or Italian sausage, and cheese towards the end of cooking. Serve hot with chilled sour cream, cold diced tomato and sliced avocado on top.
Just found your channel learning how to cook no waffling on, but spot on cheers
They look really yummy. Thank you for your recipe
Haha, "cook in a little bit of fat" . . . . adds 120ml of oil!
That was never 1/2 tsp salt. More like half a cup
that was an optical illusion
Each potato
Half a teaspoon each.
That was all i asked for in a video. Easy way to make them. Thank you
Lovely! Quick and to the point!
Thanks. Imma make this after eating boiled potatoes for so long. I want something just like this!!!
