Fantastic job! One thing I would like to see, when you add a model to an army, is a shot of them in context with other models to show how they look as a group. Keep up the good work!
Top tier. The conversion and the paint scheme is excellent. That "slap on and see" style works so well for DG. The end result is so in keeping with how you imagine they'd look.
Your Death Guard scheme is definitely my favorite way I've ever seen DG get painted. The organized chaos of all the colors definitely makes it feel like they may have once had some sort of nice armor, but it's been warped by Chaos and is now getting covered moss, mold, bile, and god knows what. And the bright bright colors are so much more eye catching and interesting than gloom and grime and grimdark and nurgle's rot everywhere.
On why finecast is so scuffed: the whole process was made to use the metal spincasting machines that gw had already. The metal mix was becoming super price volatile to the point where each sale would be at a loss. A full new resin machine would break the bank in the lean times where gw was still recovering after lotr stopped floating them. Gw was in the process of tooling up new plastic kits for the ones they wanted to replace so a placeholder was needed. So you have a machine being used outside its native function for a strange material never meant to be cast that way.
Wings is exactly what this model needed, it probably would've been more popular back then if it had them. Also I suggest Loctite Gel for anyone looking for thick super glue. It works great for models like this, especially if you're kit bashing because it fill gaps and can be sanded down after.
Your Death Guard scheme is easily one of my absolute favorites I've seen. It's such an inspiring combination of throwing paint at the model to see what sticks and taking those random patterns and mastering them until they look completely intentional. Controlled chaos incarnate.
The finecast has lots of extra vents because GW has to use weird resin so they could urilise their spin casting methods, adapting it from use with pewter. It's basically a stopgap but the marketing department couldn't say that.
Au contraire this model was incredible popular; you could see tons of awesome conversions amd golden demon paintjobs of him at the time; this even had a dedicated white dwarf doublenpage once
Admittedly he is probably the best demon prince that came out. The old one was... decent, but everything about him screamed super old. The new one is to me the type of a super overdetailed model, which also just doesn't work with any of the gods particularly. But this guy? As Jay said, he is a perfectly Nurgly model.
HOT DAMN that's a result. I am continually floored by Jay's Death Guard, they all look fucking amazing. I'm watching it happen and I still don't know how he does it.
Your content is just the most wholesome, positive, laid back tabletop stuff on UA-cam. It's frankly insane how you can put out 3 videos or more with such a good vibe every week O_o KUDOS
Just got back into mini gaming after 15 years away from 40k, and this week I pulled out the stuff I painted that has been boxed up at the bottom of my cupboards. Got the metal version of this guy, one of my favourites...he is now proudly standing on display with his buddies, the Lord of Change, the Masque, and Be'lakor😊.
If you are looking for a little extra cultist flavor for your death guard, then I suggest taking a look at the ash waste nomads for necromunda. Their look is very on brand for nurgle if you slap on some gross paint.
Love this model I have converted two (one for my chaos undivided army as well) and one just in case … great job and thanks for the pic at ADEPTICON! See you again next year 😊
Awesome mod and amazing brush work! I got ahold of one of these stellar models a few years ago and went in a slightly different direction for wings. Used bloat drone engines. I was not a fan of his face, so I used an extra mask from a Defiler kit. It's one of my favorite mods.
Looks really good wirh wings. I had the same idea when I got mine years ago but I didn't want to alter the sculpt due to it being so rare to find... I'm with you on that I cannot understand why this amazing thicc boi wasn't more popular. For me it's the second best daemon prince GW ever made (after that Forge world one with a cannon arm that used to be a named character)
How does Jay find the confidence to kitbash rare models? If I had this thing I'd build it WYSIWYG with no deviations, then leave it on my shelf forever. Kudos to you for being able to do this.
Funfact: While this model is often used as a generic Demon Prince, it is actually inteded to be Ignatius Grulgor, a Death Guard Marine from Flight of the Eisenstein
This looks sooo good, nice job. i am myself just starting to build my first mini....i was always a fan of deathguard and nurgle. so i am starting a death guard army. hopefully i will be as good as you one day. thankls for the inspiration ant tips. love all the vids you put out
I gave mine morty's wings and magnetized them to be interchangeable with the vent things on top. Also gave him one of morty's heads. It is discontinued now but I got him either early last year or late 2022 so they're not that rare.
"I used some texture paste over the base to hide the cat litter" to be honest the cat litter actually looks super cool as kind of alien rocks, I'd love to see a video where it doesn't get covered and actually is the base texture
Great conversion and lovely paint job as always! Only thing I’m not totally sold on (personal preference clearly) is the head on that original finecast model is hella goofy and I’d have done a headswap (the head if anything is why that model died imo)
I managed to find a set of those OLD 40k chaos cultists on [generic internet auction site] which I added to my Death Guard army (they're shown in one or two spots in the codex). Wonderful idea for a converted Nurgle Demon Prince (there's also one of THOSE made from the old demon prince model in the codex), love that Death Guard and some other armies provide such a great opportunity for modding.
What paints would you recommend? Not brand but type. Would you recommended normal* acrylic paints heavy watered down or contrast paints? Also woul you recommend watering down with water, contrast medium or flow improver? Really like the idea and think of giving it a go on some GSC using all the colours from my nids, making them different but coherent at the smae time!
I do like the new demon prince model but I think he just looks like a demon prince of Khorne with a head swap. This older demon prince just screams Nurgle!
Small moment of History : the model is based on the chaos undivided deamon prince. The reason is it was a conversion made by a hobbyist as an entry for Golden Demon, I don't remember the year or country as GD was held in various places around the world, but maybe France or Germany. GamesWorkshop staff loved it and they loved it so much they ask the dude after the competition if he could hand his mini to them, so they could make molds for it. And that's how this entered CSM catalogue. Chaos Captain Fart away.
I just found one of these in metal. It came with a metal pauldron for his left arm too. Did this kit have a pauldron on the left arm? I don't recall seeing one.
I'm pretty sure I heard that that model started off as a Golden Demon entry converted from the metal armoured daemon prince that came out a few years before, and it was so popular GW hired that guy to sculpt an official version. But don't quote me on that as it's only a vague memory and I can't find anything about it online atm (can't even find the name of the sculptor).
I SO SO SO wanted this specific daemon prince for my army as well. I just always thought "eh i can have it later" and then they discontinued it and then I see it go for 200 second hand mfw
He wasn't popular because Nurgle DP's weren't good, as i recall. I think it was Slaanesh if you wanted to abuse Lash, then went Tzeentch, then Khorne for a beatstick. Now a days, i have no ideas, but I'm looking forward to trying Chaos in 10th.
Just curious I got two figures with white plastic. Cement glue won't hold plastic . So, I used super glue and it work . I have hold plastic together in few minutes. Finally got stuck together. You know what I mean ? Anyway good show 😊
I do prefer painting big gribblies and monsters myself. Although there is more area to paint, this usually comes down to big areas of skin, fur or armor. You just can go ham without needing to be too careful.
I'm kinda surprised you didn't pin the wings on, so they'll be less likely to get knocked off off. Especially when the green stuff was softer, it would have been easy to make a hole for the pin without needing to drill it.
Does anyone know a good alternative for this paint since it got discontinued? Huge fan of how it looks like a coral reef and wanted to use it for my depth guard
With a couple conversions and a sick paint job you can make a normal demon prince look like nurgle also I didn’t know you can run plaguebearers in death guard 40k
JAY MAKES PROGRESS ON DEATH GUARDDDDD 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
Jay's Drukhari: 👀👀👀
Drunk Marines LETS GOOOOO
comment if you know what I mean
That makes one of us!
@@haku155 the worst part is that I was painting my death guard, seeing him get absolutely wasted and still paint beater than me is just soul crouching
HE'S DOING IT! HE'S BEGINNING TO BELIEVE!
Fantastic job! One thing I would like to see, when you add a model to an army, is a shot of them in context with other models to show how they look as a group. Keep up the good work!
Oh yes this 🤞🏽🙏🏽

Yeees! Ignore the Drukhari. Give in to the Death Guard!
Always happy to see Mister Magorium’s Nurgle Emporium
I love the way you paint your deathguard. The colors you use just work so well together!! Thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!!

This is impressive, my mom loves your channel and finds you incredibly entertaining and she knows nothing about modeling and 40k.
Incredible work! From the kitbash and repose to the paint, it just leaves my jaw on the floor. This is gonna be a crazy cool army!
I like how they kept that sixth edition chaos rule around with the modern slaves to darkness rule.
Amazing job - you're not just technically brilliant but amazingly creative. Your approach to colour is sublime. And a joy to watch.
Secret Culver's Sponsorship
Jay, while I hate Nurgle... you make and paint the absolute best! My favorite kitbashing you've ever done!
The Daemon Prince and the other DG stuff look phantastic! I also liked how the Daemon Prince looked like with the blue skin color.
I have 2 of that demon prince for my death guard, it's a really good model in my opinion.
Love seeing the kitbashes
Ash Wastes Nomads make amazing Death Guard Cultists, all the little gas masks look great! anyway your Prince looks sick as hell
NOT THE GOOFY DEMON PRINCE

thanks for sharing. I think I'm going to use some of your principles in painting up my MIASMIC MALIGNIFIER and base it similar on some mdf board.
Awesome mod and amazing brush work!

This dude looks absolutely amazing! Fantastic work! Love your DG army.
i always enjoying how u are smilling about your hobbies.
your enthusiasm is catching . keep going
I love this color scheme it looks very much like the messed up stuff in the movie annihilation. Super awesome
Certainly a very charismatic model 😁 and great job modelling and painting, your DG is looking awesome!
This is stellar. More kitbashing and painting of showpieces would be great

Is by far my favourite of your armies. Great scheme!

Really nice kit bash, and paint job.
6th edition was my time, it's wild getting back in to the game in 10th. I 'member when the Daemon Prince was THE big bad.

I’m so thankful I have this model in metal, definitely a classic
I see that you, too, are a Culver’s fan and a man of taste.
Great model by the way, potato head is amazin
Bro! This one looks perfect for the Death Guards! Amazing!
Does anyone know the head he used for the plague marine at 13:03. It would be amazing for a Vespids conversion 😭
So insanely talented.
This model has so much character done to it!
You really improved the model. Good job
Man this colour scheme is so good - you gotta find some more of those paints!
I just found one of these in metal. It came with a metal pauldron for his left arm too. Did this kit have a pauldron on the left arm? I don't recall seeing one.
Your‘e my favourite Warhammer UA-camr! I love your content so much!
Kitbashing that papa Nurgle approves. Great stuff.
Culvers! They just opened one near me! Best noms! Used to drive 12 miles to get to one

Can't wait to see more Death Guard
I SO SO SO wanted this specific daemon prince for my army as well. I just always thought "eh i can have it later" and then they discontinued it
and then I see it go for 200 second hand
mfw
Videos like this makes me feel old... last time I bought minis was in 2000.
I clicked on this and thought "He's not going to do the most common one is he?" But this is fantastic
i have 3 odd pox walkers from my old death guard army. I will donate 1 so you can fill your squad.
Love the content keep up the great work.
If i want to replicate the scheme what color should I use?
That's such a beautiful color scheme
I admit, I had that Daemon Prince ascension happen to me... only I was the one fighting Chaos. My Deathwatch was NOT ready.
LETS GOOO MORE STINKY BOIS FOR THE COLLECTION
Honestly, when you get to the last of the paint you should do Mortarian, gotta give you stinky bois their dad
I love the Death Guard Daemon Prince. I have one on foot and one with wings.
There he is, Durpy Mc Durpface!😘
Your Death Guard look amazing
Dang I love this painting style. Feels very blanchitsu
I believe that should be Lord Potato Head for a model that awesome and with such an epic paint job
This scheme is so killer!

Man the exicutioners sword slaps so hard whenever its added to something.
I do prefer painting big gribblies and monsters myself. Although there is more area to paint, this usually comes down to big areas of skin, fur or armor. You just can go ham without needing to be too careful.
Great conversion!
What solvent do you put in your machine? I have the same one and can’t find what works best.
Oooo that sword would be a perfect kitbash weapon for my Gabriel Seth
i think a good idea for the name is "the ergotian drift" as ergot is a fungus that infects bread crops and can cause lsd style hallucinations
Mr potatoehead turnued out really fun, hope he gets played soon.
I'd be tempted to paint up the Forgeworld Nurgle Daemon Prince as Uncle Ruckus, since they both got a bulging eye
I didn’t know I needed this to be a thing until right now. That’s glorious 😂
@@billpaganis566 "Praise be the White Plague God!!" -Uncle Ruckus, Daemon Prince of Nurgle
Wish I could paint even a quarter as good as Jay
I figured you would be replacing the head top 😂 great job anyways Jay always a treat
Basing question. Why did you add kitty litter if you were just going to cover it with texture paste?
Both for filler and for a less smooth base for the paste (for me, that is)
definitely a 10 out of 10 kitbash
I'm kinda surprised you didn't pin the wings on, so they'll be less likely to get knocked off off. Especially when the green stuff was softer, it would have been easy to make a hole for the pin without needing to drill it.
you can just use water on the tip of the toothpick as water tension should hold onto something like those microbeads!
Does anyone know a good alternative for this paint since it got discontinued? Huge fan of how it looks like a coral reef and wanted to use it for my depth guard
I put tiny fly like wings on mine. It looks hilarious.
Cat liter for basing seems like a moisture issue, considering it's unfired clay and other fillers. You can find rocks that size for free outside dawg.
With a couple conversions and a sick paint job you can make a normal demon prince look like nurgle also I didn’t know you can run plaguebearers in death guard 40k
This model is great simply because it looks the most like a former astartes out of all the demon princes
