Reinforced Jezzails, Stormfiends, Master Moulder and Lord Skreech are amazing. Most things are pretty expensive so I think Skaven are gonna be based around a couple big hitters and a bunch of clanrats unfortunately. Don't think a full skryre list is ever gonna happen.
Only part way through the video and I have to say that reversing the colours for the metal really worked well. Certainly adding this to my hobby playlist as it was a nice change to applying these effects. Nice one 👍

Man it is inspiring listening to your commentary flowing the narrative into your design and color choices. It’s refreshing to see risk taken and paint put on models. I’m one who can get bogged down in trying to make the “right” decision or get the perfect to my ability model every time but this particular video is definitely giving me permission to let go and experiment even within the same unit of an army! The rat in charge of shooting for the Rattling Warp Blaster is probably a demotion considering how often Skaven tech tends to explode due to it's mad science nature. It's Probably why they don't have a bunch a guns. They actually do but most of them explode or fail before reaching the battle.
As always, I love your energy and enthusiasm! 2 minutes into the video, I cannot help but think - yeah, one day to paint them, but how many days to assemble the models, do the bases, add the fur?! ;-)
I currently painting two orc bosses, and I'm realy satisfied with my progress; it seems that I will finish them within 4 days. Finishing a complet army within 1 day is crazy. Amazing work and nice video!
For a good quick rusty metal. Try a red-orange then your bright rusty orange on top leaving a good edge of the first red-orange visible. then a dry brushing of black, or a thin coat of nunoil then dry brush your metal color.
Must buy Skaven has got to be Stormfiends! Deep striking brutes that can also be pretty good at shooting. A 6 pack can deep strike in, die, and then come back as 3! Very cool and very strong right now That or a Hell pit Abomination. Not the strongest right now but absolutely one of the best models even with its age
Exactly what I was going to say, except I do want to add on that when the Hell-Pit Abomination dies, it comes back to life on a 5 or 6, on a 3 or 4, he can attack even though he’s dead, and on a 1 or 2, he’s just straight up dead.
You would actually have five spearhead army’s if you proxy some modals. If you make the rat ogres stormfiends and make the warping canon a warp lightning cannon, then you have the warpspark spearhead.
I really loved the idea of using static grass as hair or fur, but i think it didnt look like fur. Would be cool to try a static grass applicator to make it hang towards the base and use some sprayglue or something to get it to stay like that. Searched UA-cam for other guys that've tryed this but cant seem to find a single one! Maybe You should keep experimenting with this. Also love the Skaven BTW and I especially like how you made the reversed brass/vertigris-technique! And the popsicle stick hero-bases looked great!
I love the Skaven, but there's good and bad models in both ranges. Imo the Stormcast Eternals are so bland and them being the focal point of AoS is the number one reason why I have no interest in trying the game.
The AoS sculpts are really something. The Orruk Ironjawz look so zoggin' sweet. I converted some Ardboyz into Nobz, as well as Brutes into Meganobz and they are such nice kits. Also, your "Schlop on some Ratling Grime, Drybrush some Metal paint over it" works so nice! I haven't been using anything else since I tried it out.
I saw a list that had everything in the skaven tide box and to feed your fancy it came with stormfiends, a hell pit abomination, and a death master. All together it’s a really cheap army to add on to if you have skaventide because you get around 1200, 1300 points
Oh, and for sylvaneth. I'll echo the same as those who spoke on skaven that it is a little early on the edition to say what will be most haves. Except a couple of sets of Aweakend Wyldwood, as those seem pretty important if not mandatory for sylvaneth. I would suggest getting some of the warmasters/big heroes: Belthanos and/or Alarielle. Both good and cool models. Lady of vines and/or warsong revanant are also good options. For normal units I'd say theres either the kurnoth route or lancers/seekers route. Tree-revs can be useful but I don't think you'd need loads of them. I think both kurnoths and seekers/lancers are good, lancers might be more so but there is absolutly play in both. A mix is, of course, also probably really good aswell.
i found for easy rust metal is paint in a flat brown then stipple on silver paint. then for more orange rust use your favorite rust powder mixed with water or use orange paint watered down
Jay I’m going to share my rusty metal method with you after your zenethol do a dark wood speed paint on everything metal then use the citadel technical dry rust paint dilute it down and mix it with some red (no preference) then apply to recesses and where metal meets other metal. Once that is dry dilute down the technical rust paint again this time as a small touch of yellow and use this tone a little less than the previous pushing it into the deepest crevices and recesses to further emphasis the built up of rust. Then I take my favorite metal not the brightest you have but something maybe around gunmetal and rubbish that lightly over all the highest points and edges. Took me 10 years to come up with this method 🤣looks great though especially for primitive atmies like skaven or orcs
If you want more large clans moulder models, the hellpit abomination is great, lots of grotesque details. I am not sure how well its plays (I haven't played 4th yet), but it still seems pretty strong.
I love the use of static grass to emulate fur, how does it old up and what kind of process could be used before painting to make sure it stays in place and does not fall as soon as I touch the mini?
How did you make all of those wooden bits on their bases? Like the clan rat holding his sword into the air, the exposed wood next to the rat ogres, etc?

By the way, now that you have discovered the charm of 'roid rats, my wife loves them a lot and discovered we have the minis (Carrion Empire box) to play the other Skaven Spearhead and a) Even bigger rats and a huge lightning cannon b) Just by changing a few units and special rules the strategy is completely different. Must buy units? Stomefiends and Thanquol. Get yourself reinforced unit of Stormfiends with a warp grinder and two flamers and you’re golden. Oh and of course the Gnawholes, they’re half our tricks. After those, get yourself a verminlord
Well, my boyfriend has a Sylvaneth army (I collect Flesh-Eater Courts) and we've got a few games under our belts with that specific matchup. Key takeaways for the Sylvaneth: the army is elite, but relies on the Wyldwoods, or terrain features if you're doing Spearhead. One of the worst things that can happen is having a big unit tied up in combat while not near a wyldwood or terrain, so positioning is very important. The gameplay focuses too much on the wyldwoods :( As for units though, I can highly recommend Treelords, specifically the Treelord Ancient. Gets the kick-ass ability Groundshaker which can force an opposing unit to Strike Last, plus a spell cast in there too. And then there are the Kurnoth Hunters. Kurnoth with bows are my worst nightmare as a player of an army with awful armor saves. A unit with 6 attacks, hitting and wounding on 3s, rend 1 damage 2 each at an 18" range. These things are killers, and can threaten just about anything I could put on the board. Combine that with a +1 to Rend spell in the Spell Lore and you have a fantastic combo that can shred through 5+ and 6+ armor saves like butter. Just remember to keep them near the woods so they can't be caught in combat without an escape. Hope that gets you excited to bring Alarielle's children to war!
“Verminlord on the Great Shriek” well a Verminlord is a bit bigger than that. They’re kinda the greater demons for the Skaven. Also the Skaven are split into multiple clans. The Clanrats and Clawlord are from Clans Verminous, the gun rats are from Clans Skryre, the Rat Ogors are from Clans Moulder, and the Grey Seer is from Master Clan.
Hi Jay! Its hard to say what's a must pick for Skaven right now, but you certainly can't go wrong with a Verminlord (maybe some fun conversions to make it count as multiple of them). Also, 3 more Rat Ogors and Jezzails wouldn't go amiss. But you're probably best off waiting for all the model reveals on August 10th, as the glorious Rats destroy Hel-Crown!
I wasn't a huge fan of the Tyranid project where they had that puff of smoke inside. But those experiments probably led to the furry fuzzy rats, which look absolutely stellar.

Really love how they turned out. For me personally that added fur looks a fit of as its texture is completely different
that Underpaint of blue into metal giving it some oxidization was actually fucking sick
and of course the weapons with the orange
yeah, the verdigris and rust techniques were the big win for me in this video.
In regards to must buys for skaven - right now I'd say to wait and see what the new sculpts we get look like. The Brood Horror is an amazing mini

Yup, the AoS models absolutely curbstomp the 40K range. The design teams should certainly work together more so that we get cooler models for 40K!

I wasn't a huge fan of the Tyranid project where they had that puff of smoke inside. But those experiments probably led to the furry fuzzy rats, which look absolutely stellar.
