Hey everyone, there are some NEW steps since i made this video. I've added them to the description for you. I've also made a recent video applying a device handler to the Dome Motion Sensor. That video has the new steps if you want a visual of what to do. I'll link that video at the end of this one and in the description.
Thanks very much. After installing, removing, and reinstalling the device handler as outlined in Dome support, I got all the chime functions working. BUT I WOULD HAVE NEVER figured out that I had to type in the chime name. I never read that anywhere. Thumbs up for this one.
Steve, Thank you. I got my dome going thanks to your guidance, you go a little fast and I kept going back to the video. but its working. Thanks again.
Dude, wow, thanks! Needed a dorm chime for our business, 7-Eleven style, not an alarm, and you made it a lot easier to figure out. Def subscribing!
Awesome Steve! I was having the same problem as some others and went through the steps a bunch of times to no avail until I saw and used the NEW STEPS! Thanks for creating and documenting this!
Glad the new steps helped you out. I really need to make an updated video. :)
I still cannot get this working with version 3. All I get is the siren. I would really love to have access to the different tones.
I'd love to see more on this subject. Especially if there is any modifications that could be made to current products to make the more functional.
Thanks for the updated steps. Works now for me with the latest SmartThings App on my S8. Love your work!
Thanks man. Per your excellent instructions I was able to install the chime correctly along with a Multipurpose Sensor. Keep up the great work and more vids please. I also installed the Dome auto water shut off valve and 5 water sensors.
Thank you. I'm glad that i was able to help you out.
Great video about to start looking into getting some sensors and the dome.
Thanks! I'm really happy with how well this turned out.
Thanks for the video. Looking at doing this as well.
awesome video. you explained everything so well and I followed along very easily.
Thank you ... respect
Is there another device that does a similar thing - a chime when the door opens /closes and also alarm if you caught an intruder - but perhaps with better sounds?
Thanks!
Great video..thanks. Can you change the duration of how long the alarm plays..?
awesome video. I followed along very easily. Thanks
Thank you!
Nice vid mate thank you
Does this work with web core? I mean do you still have all the different sound options?
Steve, Nice solution. I'm wondering if I might use this as not only my chime (looking forward to replacing my wired alarm system panel with the new Konnected solution that should ship out in February), but also for my door bell. I was so glad you left the volume up initially as that was one thing I wasn't sure would be loud enough (BTW, can you set volume via the software so that it can be LOUD for use as an actual ALARM and normal for things like a doorbell ring and then low for a chime sound). I have a wired alarm and really have little interest in something like a Ring unit at this point. Been wondering how I might keep the wired alarm in place, but just kill off the chime end of it and replace it with a smart device. Any ideas?
Hi Rich, glad you liked the video. So you can use the Dome Siren in as many configurations as you'd like. You can set one or sever door sensors to be one chime/alarm and then setup another door sensor for a different chime/alarm. And yes you can adjust the volumes too.
Great video. That's how everyone's instructional videos should be...No skipped steps and visual step-by-step on screen. Can you setup multiple Dome devices, say for each floor or room?
Kooky ME thank you! I’m happy to hear that you like it. I only have the one device so I can’t confirm this for sure but, at the point in the setup where you select Audio Player you should be able to select some or all of the Dome Sirens that you have setup. If you do try this I’d love to know the outcome.
Great Video thanks..
You would think this would have been easy. But is there a way to limit amount of time it beeps or alarms? I got this working but the minimum length is 30 seconds. I just wanted to chirp one or two times not a full alarm. I emailed the company and they told me that this was not possible; just seems like it’s a programming issue. I went through the lines of code and I don’t see where I can limit the time.
Really helpful video Steve. As a result, I purchased and used your instructions to get it working perfectly. I do have one question. Do you know if it's possible to use the Dome for the chime and have a second routine to use it as an alarm using the same device?
Hi David, thanks for subscribing and i'm happy this video helped you. Yes, you can use the Dome in different routines and select a different alarm/chime for each one.
How do we change the sound the dome siren makes? I can't figure it out. I want it to be a different sound, preferably same as Ring alarm.
Is there another way to obtain the raw data? I currently don't have access to my pc.
Hey can I add this dome siren to a detached garage?
Like ur video! I do have a ? Can I use the dome siren as a door chime and also as a siren? Or do I have to buy a different siren like the aeotec and the dome for the door chime?
babykakerojas thanks! You can use the Siren for both needs. You would just need to setup another alert, set the new parameters, and then select the alarm you want to hear.
I need help, i follow all the steps. It shows dome siren on the hub but gives me no option. It even recognized my hub on the website and still doesn't give me options, I've remove it and added it back and no resluts
Great video. I want to start making my home smart too. I have a Google Home Mini and that's it so far. Want to buy a hub next and then maybe some bulbs and smart plugs. Which hub? Of course you did SmartThings. I keep swinging between getting a Wink 2 or Smart Things v2, what do you think? Thanks. I welcome any other viewer's suggestions too. Thanks.
Hi Michael, I went with ST Hub because, at the time i was doing my research i found that ST was more versatile. You can write scripts, or find scrips that others have written to accomplish the task you want to do. Just like what i did in this video with the Device Handler Code. With Wink it's more user friendly but you're locked into only using the products that are designed for it, kinda like Apple. Even though i don't know how to write scripts right now, i like the idea that it's an option in the future. Regardless, they are both great products and you can't go wrong with either.
the ring has it. i turned it off cuz it was annoying but ur right it is useful to know if someone opens and close ur door
Since samsung got rid of the classic app mine has stop working. Any way of fixing it? I tried and no luck.
A little off topic but might help someone. I found out that you can use IFTTT to have the Dome Siren doorbell Chime fire when someone pushes the Ring Doorbell Pro. I'll try it out one day this week and let you know how it goes.
Looking forward to the outcome.
Would you want to use this for an area in the house that you can't hear the door bell?
Is this dome siren compatible with the Ring Home alarm?
bayareatile408 yes
So you need one for each door?
Steve need some help - followed your steps - created and copied the code on to the Smarting's portal, the phone app shows the dome siren, but does not give me the options for the different sounds? What do you think?
Hi Gary, I had a similar issue my first few attempts. I found that when i would login and click on "My Hubs" nothing would display. It would say, “You don’t have any hubs yet." After some research i found that there is a specific link that i needed to use to get to the correct Server Cluster. Once i was using the correct link i was able to see the details of my Hub. Now the Device Handler is working for me.I posted the US link in my description. Here's a link to the forum post if you want more info on it. I hope this is the info you needed to get things working for you.
community.smartthings.com/t/hub-not-showing-up-on-graph-api-smartthings-com/74022
Did not provide options on device settings, until I went to the main smartthings site(not app)went to my devicesand click on the dome then edited type to dome siren from zwave siren
You rock!! Could not figure it out until I read your comment. Thanks
Steve - got a Dome siren - cannot pair it with the Smartthings hub. I have read that I may have received a device with a U.K. frequency, not U.S. Do you know anything about this?
Sorry, i'm not familiar with this.
Do we have to have a "SmartThings Hub" device to make all these work?
You do. The SmartThings Hub is the brain that connects all the products together.
Weird that none of the sirens sound like a traditional security system alarm... I'll pass on this.
Chime 2 and Chime 3 could be... Similar to a smoke detector
What is the Dome Siren model number?
Great Video. but in future, please disable the background music on the video while you speak.
Thanks for the feed back. In this video i did turn it up a little louder than normal but, you're right, It is too high in some areas.
I agree, I can't hear him
I have followed the instructions and keep on only getting one chime option. Not sure exactly were I'm messing up. Is the configuration different for Andriod?
I think there is a new step in the process that wasn't there when i made this video. You need to go back to the SmartThings site and adjust the "type" of the Siren. I just made a new video applying a device handler to a Dome motion sensor. (ua-cam.com/video/IIDHpFDDjpM/v-deo.html) You can jump to 3:30 in that video to see the additional step needed to apply the new device handler to your Dome Siren.
Thanks, worked perfectly. Subscribed, I see you have a lot of the devices I'm using.
Awesome, Welcome.
Every time I open my doors they go off on my Amazon devices. You have to go into alexa on the app to setup what you want it to say for the (action of the door being open ,closed ec) but this is 2019 so I'm sure times have changed
It's been a while since i've revisited this. SO happy to hear that we can use our Alexa devices now.
Can someone help with my issue? I show all the sounds options, but for some reason the only sounds I get are the original alarm and then when I click on any other should option it just makes clicking sound.
This makes me think it's a faulty unit. I recommend reaching out to Dome support.
Help please! I have no idea what I did? I followed step by step and can't get the chimes to show up. It is showing up as the dome siren. When in the app there are no sound options just the basic switch pretty much. Any clue what I did wrong? I tried to go ahead with customizing and nope it won't let me add audio notification. So sad :( I really needed this as a door chime.
Hi Mandi, it seems like it's not detecting the device handler. Login to the website and click “My Hub” and make sure that it’s detecting your hub and not saying, “You don’t have any hubs yet.” If it’s seeing your hub, go back to the “My Device Handlers” tab, delete the one for the Dome Siren and try adding it again. If that doesn’t work, let me point you to the forum page for the Dome Siren. Kevin is the Community Master there and he's the one that wrote this Device Handler code. He seems quite active so you should be able to get help quickly. :) community.smartthings.com/t/release-dome-siren-official/75499
Thanks for your help and response. I'm also in a facebook smarthings group and found my issue. I needed to change the handler to dome siren from z wave and had set everything to self-published. I'm not sure why it defaulted differently for me. Again... Thanks so much. I really enjoy your videos.
You're the second person who has mentioned needing to make that change. Am i missing a step or has something changed on the site? Hmm... I am happy that you like the video and that it was helpful for you. :)
I'm not sure if Smart things changed things up maybe. Either way, your video was still very helpful.
@@sweetnsassy681 Just had the same problem, thanks for solving it Mandi and Steve!
Has anyone figured out a way to connect a doorbell chime with the Dome Siren when someone push your Ring Pro doorbell. The only sensor I see is Motion which will not exactly work in this case
Majestic Dream Vacations just buy the ring chime
Thanks but I already figured out how to do it and it's pretty simple
Do tell please
Steve - I've read thru the posts and when logging onto the account.smartthings.com/login it takes me to graph-na02-useast1.api.smartthings.com/. I can see my hub and all devices attached to it. The Dome Siren comes up as a Dome Siren not a switch on the PC and phone app. But it still does not show me the options (multiple sound options) for the siren on the phone app. I've copied and published the siren link multiple time per your vid process. What's next or any ideas?
Great video. I followed all the steps but it keeps coming up as a switch. I published it to my hub and it shows that it is there.
Sorry to hear it's not working. I'm not an expert on troubleshooting but you can try a factory reset. Here's a link to the manual if you need it. cache-m2.smarthome.com/manuals/12026-manual.pdf. Since these steps i provided are supported by the company you should be able to contact them for addition assistance.
Thanks. I will reach out to them.
I just picked up a Dome Siren. Step by step from the video, I for the life of me cannot get the additional options that y'all are getting. I even did a factory reset of my hub and dome, Nada. I saw one person mention to change the device type to "Dome Siren" but that option isn't available for me in my devices. Anyone else having trouble?
Nevermind. 5th time is the charm apparently. :)
Hi Craig, i just ran into the same issue with the Dome Motion Sensor and just figured it out myself. I'm glad you were able to get yours working.
@@SteveDOES guys...can you share how you fixed it? im still having same issue
Ughhhh I just tried to set it up and the options aren't showing up for me! I removed it a couple of times and add it again, still nothing. Any suggestions?

Hey Steve! Thanks for the response. I'm able to see the Hubs. It's the different alarms in the Dome Siren that's Not showing up in the Smartthings app. All I can see is the default Alarm
Hmm, let me point you to the forum page for the Dome Siren. Kevin is the Community Master there and he's the one that wrote this Device Handler. He seems quite active so you should be able to get help quickly. :)

Thanks!
Hey Steve! I found out what was wrong. I needed to go into "My Devices" and Edit the Type to Dome Siren. Thanks for all your help.
Has anyone tried setting this up with the new Smartthings app? I have version 3 of the SmartThings Hub and installed the Dome siren AFTER I installed the device handler for the siren. Everything went fine BUT I can't find the options for the Dome siren. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Tony
I am having the same problem. All I get is the siren.
@@1974Nova1974 Found out you have to use the CLASSIC app, NOT the new app for Smartthings, then you'll see all options for dome siren
@@AAtta-3286 I deleted the app, installed classic and now I have all options. I have been beating my head against the wall trying to get this to work.
Thank you!!!
Now, time to redo everything. Good thing I wrote it all down...
@@1974Nova1974 Glad, I could help! I kept both apps on but did have one issue when the alarm went off, I turned it off on new app but alarm siren kept ringing till I realized I had to turn it off with the classic app also. But that was just one time. I too went nuts trying to figure this out till I saw, on the video, he was using the classic app so thought I'd give it a try.
@@AAtta-3286 After playing with the Classic app for a few days, I really like it compared to the new app. Hopefully Samsung continues to support the Classic app, or at the very least adds all the functionality to the new app.
I down loaded the device handler copy and paste it . It showed that it got saved in the hub but did not load up on my smartthing app when I set up the dome it shows dome siren but there is no different chime or alarm. So I thought i messed up and delected the file from my device handler when i try to reinstall it copy and paste i get this error message. Org.codehaus.groovy.control.MultipleCompilationErrorsException: startup failed: script_dth_metadata_f6f82aa1_0a81_437f_96f8_c1772afd0eb9: 2: unexpected token: * @ line 2, column 2. * Dome Siren v1.2.3 ^ 1 error
Any thought on this
Never mind i got it to work . Great video
Make sure you are using the Classic app or this will not work.
Good to know. I'll add that do the notes.
Worked fine until batteries died in two units. Now just can`t get back working. What a pain.
Tried this, it finds the siren, and has no additional options.
I did the new step and the options show up, but it doesn't make any sound
@@thanley99 You're not the only one having this issue. I've added the new steps in the description. From your comment it looks like the device handler is working but the device is not. Try deleting the device from the app and add it again. If you're still not getting sound there might be something wrong with the device. You'll want to reach out to Dome for assistance.
Steve DOES I've tried to remove it, but the remove button does nothing
thanley99 ah, you can delete it from the SmartThings website. It should be listed under My Devices.
Working now, thanks!
this isn't a siren. it's a chime??
you can only set one sound to one event. Not very smart
Not sure i understand. What are you trying to do with it? Is it limitations with the Siren or the software?
pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeez kill that bkgnd music!
Hi guys this is like a toy, regular one that you have is better then this, I give 1 from 5, do not buy, 1st test
The music is awful and distracting.
I couldn’t agree more. Plus SmartThings have changed some of the steps. This video is on my list to update.
The music is annoying just talk. Then talk slower and show what you’re doing I don’t know who would be able to understand what you’re doing??? you’re not showing it and you’re talking too fast and cut the music off!
This "Dome Siren" is a "Joke" Received mine today and no where near as loud as it should be? My clock alarm is louder in fact the siren built into the Ring keypads is louder DONT buy it
