Thank you. I have been looking at smart lighting as well and didn't want additional hubs either.

Thanks for this tutorial. I ended up getting the same setup and your configuration guide helped a lot. This is probably an edge case but I have a question: if the light was ON during the end of the automation (9:30pm in your case), would it stay on? or does the end time set the bulb to off?

Mark Azali thanks Mark! It was rare that this would happen but I eventually found out that the light would remain on if motion continued past my 9:30 cut off. I considered creating a second rule to turn off the light at 9:30 each night as a just in case but, if we didn’t have a phone in hand we would be left in the dark. We decided to just be conscious of this “issue” and when this happened we would use the app or Alexa to turn the lights off.

    2 questions
Will this work with my Echo plus hub or do I have to get Smartthings hub?
Can this trigger smart light switches?

hi, will this run locally if wifi connection is down please ?

John Snow Yes it will. When using it with SmartThings you’ll always leave your lamp On and your Routines and App will control it being on and off. If someone without access to the app just wants the light On they can turn the dial on the lamp off and back on. This will cause the light to start functioning like a normal bulb.

thank you very much! did you synch the bulb via an web app, or did Samsung hub paired directly please ?

John Snow I didn’t want to add another app for controlling this specific brand of lights so I just connected them to the SmartThings hub. The hub picked them up right away and was able to detect the brand and model. So I didn’t have to manually configure them.
