    Thank you. I think I've had my Dome Siren for about three years, but just now is the first time it has been successfully attached to my Smartthings Hub. Now I might actually be able to add some automation to my door sensors instead of just "hey Google, what's the temperature of..." :-)

    I don't see a QR code to scan. I don't know how.... I set this up last year with my Ring alarm, but now I can't find the QR code!
    I can't figure out how to change the sound it makes. It doesn't match my alarm sound. Any help?

      Hello RGC. The QR code should be inside the battery compartment if I remember correctly. The device requires a custom edge driver. Installation instruction and driver channel link is located in an article on my website. You’ll need to login and purchase my edge, driver package, which includes 30+ driver related articles that provide instructions for installing custom drivers for various SmartThings compatible devices. do you have any videos on using a keypad to arm and disarm smartthings? thank you for making it so simple adt really put it to alot of us with them outdating their hub

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  2 роки тому

      Hello Morgan. I have no experience with the ADT setup for SmartThings. But if you have access to the SmartThings App you can manually set "Armed Away" for "Disarm" within the App. If you want a "keypad" or panel that is mounted near your door you could install the SharpTools App on a I-Pad and mount the I-Pad on the wall near your door. You could then use a SharpTools dashboard to turn arm or disarm the SmartThings Home Monitor. Here are a couple of videos on how to setup with SharpTools: ua-cam.com/video/W0pbPZCS4oo/v-deo.html & ua-cam.com/video/sIATC7ghAUs/v-deo.html

    This is great, thanks. Any ideas if any update is available to the Dome motion sensors? There used to be some settings (motion or light sensibility) available in Smartthings, now it only reports motion (no light).

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  3 роки тому

      You're welcome Sebastian. As for the Dome Motion Sensor (Model: DMMS1), Kevin Laframboise published a device type handler (DTH) for the old ST App, see here: community.smartthings.com/t/release-dome-motion-sensor-official/78092 You may want to read through the post to see if the DTH is functional in the new ST App. Keep Automating!

    Hi! I have a Ring Alarm system and was interested in adding the Dome alarm- is it only possible to configure the Dome using the methods described in this video? Thanks!

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  2 роки тому

      Yes the dome alarm is a Z wave device. So you should be able to add it to your ring alarm system. I would refer to the ring alarm site for instructions on how to add it. Be aware that it will not have all the functionality that is available in smartthings. In other words it’ll only act as a siren.

    Hi, How can fix the delay in the chime? I have setup Dome siren with Smarthings. I setup a routine in conjunction with the multipurpose sensor on my door. But when the door opens, there is a delay in Chime and Siren. How can I fix that?

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  2 роки тому

      I had a delay initially but I do not have a delay now. Since this is a Z-Wave device I would try to refresh the links to your Z-Wave device network. This can be accomplished by running your repair Z-Wave network utility in your SmartThings App. Find your Hub in the list of devices. Click on your Hub. Click on the ellipsis (three dots) in the upper right hand corner. Click on Z-Wave utilities. Tap on "Repair Z-Wave network".

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  2 роки тому

      Also, many of these delays will go away once ST converts all Device Handers over to the new Edge Drivers. This will cause our devices to work locally from the hub rather than the SmartThings (ST) cloud. :)

    Hi, Given that SmartThings IDE is going end of life, is there a Edge Driver available to replace this Device Handler ?

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Рік тому +1

      Hi Jeff! Thanks for the question.
      The answer is yes. The developer has converted the Custom Device Handler to an Edge Driver and and it was reviewed and approved by Dome.
      To Install the Edge Driver for Dome Siren amzn.to/3QWmIGG I recommend that you first read the information provided by the developer, Kevin LaFramboise on the SmartThings Community. That information can be found at the following link: community.smartthings.com/t/release-dome-siren-official-2-0/230204
      You then can tap on the developer’s invitation link in the article to the Dome Edge Driver Channel, but I will also provide the invitation link and instructions for installing here:
      Dome’s Edge Driver Channel: bestow-regional.api.smartthings.com/invite/RPMxr5eQoXlm?
      Instructions:
      1. Click the link above
      2. Log in with your Samsung Account
      3. Click the “Enroll” button next to your hub
      4. Click the “Available Drivers” button
      5. Click the “Install” button below Dome Siren
      6. Add the device
      Note: I believe that you must be enrolled in the Edge Beta program to install/enroll the edge drivers via the invitation link. If your SmartThings Hub is not enrolled you can enroll your Edge-compatible Hub in the SmartThings Beta Channel by following the instructions here: developer-preview.smartthings.com/docs/sdks/cli/introduction/

    Well I did all the steps that you put up there my dome siren does not have any the extra features I don't know why

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  2 роки тому

      After you pasted the RAW code into the device handler tab "from code", you must tap on the create button. Following that, you must tap on "Publish" and then tap on "For Me". Otherwise the code will not connect to the GitHub Repository and the Device Handler will not be functional. Login to your SmartThings IDE (SmartThings Account), click on the "My Device Handlers" tab, click on the "Dome Siren" Device Handler to bring up the code you pasted, click on "Save", Click on "Publish" and then click on "For Me" then open your SmartThings App and see if all the extra functionality is there. If not, let me know the color of your text for the Dome Siren device handler.

    Thanks for all information provided in that video, very helpful!
    My set up is ST hub v3 + ST app and I've faced a lot of issues during installation process before I found your video online.
    Did you also change device type from "Z Wave Device" to "dome siren" under ST IDE / Device List / Dome Siren ?
    After following your recommended process, I can access all siren features, but can't make any change, customization or automation because my siren shows offline in ST app (error message: "A network or server error accrued. Try again later"). I had already replaced batteries, installed, reinstalled, and same issue. all other devices connected to ST Hub work fine. What am I missing?

      RE: Did you also change device type from "Z Wave Device" to "dome siren" under ST IDE / Device List / Dome Siren ?
      Yes. However, because it is a Z-Wave device you must first Exclude it in the ST App before adding it as a new device. To remove or "exclude" the device, watch the video ua-cam.com/video/qPByat3cFHs/v-deo.html from video marker 02:25 - 04:25. After you exclude the device and add it back in, it should work fine. Let me know...

    • @andreldsantos
      @andreldsantos 2 роки тому

      @@BudsSmartHome , thanks for the quick response!
      I followed again your removal/exclusion process, and in addition to that, I've also removed the device handler and rebooted the hub before adding the code back under device handler, changing the repository and publishing it out at ST IDE.
      Moving to ST app, during the scanning process, I got an error message ("you haven't finished secure setup. the device will still be added, but the connection will be less secure and the device may not work correctly") but the scanning was completed and the siren was added to ST app.
      Moving back to ST IDE, after changing the device type to "dome siren" and reloading ST app, I got another error message ("a network or server error occurred, try again later") when trying to change any siren settings such as "siren sound". Interesting fact, at ST app, the siren shows battery 0% and I already tried replacing the batteries.
      Please help again! :D
      Thank you!

      @@andreldsantos I recommend that you now try to Repair your Z-Wave Network. Follow the same path to the area were you excluded your Dome device, "Z-Wave utilities", but this time select "Repair Z-Wave Network" and let it run is course. This may do the trick. Again, let me know...
