I would like to setup a system for an elderly parent. There are a few things that are important. Voice calling and receiving phone calls, scheduled regular TV shows, scheduled Zoom meetings, the ability to fix things remotely and to send pictures.

Very informative, thanks. I don't currently have an Alexa with screen but use Alexa to directly control any browser on any device. It certainly looks like the 'Show' range would also work with it. It also works with Occulus and allows full Alexa control of that browser too. Launching videos, web pages and even performing web searches. I use this browser system around my pool table to play & stack my chosen music videos onto large screen TV's. Just reel out all of the track numbers you want Alexa to stack, just like a jukebox. If this is of interest, I'd be more than happy to guide you through the setup so that you can use all of this yourself. This goes well beyond just 'Turn it on' and 'Turn it off'. Great video.
Not enough freedom in the software for me, makes no sense that it's this limited. Glad I watched this, was going to buy one with assumptions it was more functional.
Love the echo show. I have set it up to control my smart TV, by being able to turn it off or on by voice command. Handy when hubby walks out leaving the TV on all the time.
If you want to show a camera when motion happens (if Ring supports it like Eufy) then you could maybe use a Routine like I do. If motion is detected I get it to the command "Alexa Show Front Doorbell Camera" and it works. I have another routine that triggers with motion that starts with a wait 2 mins then runs "Alexa Stop showing Front Doorbell Camera" (this is for if the person I set it up for is not home I know it'll at least turn it off after 2mins)
You can have the Echo Show 15, or any Echo Show, display a camera view when motion is detected by setting up a routine for a supported camera, by using the "Custom" action feature. For example, in the New Routine setup press "When this happens", select "Smart Home". Choose a supported camera, select "Motion", select "Detected", press "Next". Press "Add Action", select "Custom". Enter "show [camera name]", for example, show Front Door. Press "Next". Press "Choose Device", select the Echo Show that you want the view to displayed on, then press "Save". I should add that the [camera name] should be spelled exactly as it is in the Alexa app including upper/lower case.
great vid - would love to see more info on the photo mode - can it be set to come on after a while of not being used, does it look really good with paintings?, can it be swipped open/closed from photo mode etc... my main use for this frame is to hide the widgets etc so it looks legitimately like a painting frame and not tech

I’ve been trying to configure a smart home system using alexa, specialized for mental health and adhd! Do you think you could help with that? I have a few ideas already.
I am soooooo done buying Echo Show devices. The software and capabilities are what is killing it for me. Seems like they could easily build Firestick software in my show devices which would enable so much more functionality including apps, like being a small TV with an integrated Firestick. Year after year, software update after software update, no change in functionality. Having a screen is just slightly better than an Echo Dot for me.
On Amazon devices restricting downloads to their app store it is usually possible to "sideload apps" (search for tutorials) . This workaround goes way back to their "locked in" Kindle devices, so I guess sideloading works on the Echo show line as well.
I wish the live view would auto pop up with motion detection on the Ring cameras not just the pushed button. Also wish you could speak as well. That and the weather is the only reason I would want it. My kids always ask me what the weather is going to be like
I was really looking forward to being able to watch TV while on my side in bed ... any way to lock the screen orientation in landscape so it doesn't switch when physically rotated more than 45 degrees?
Thanks for making this video but I need to find out why the heck all my photos from Amazon photos uploaded on my Echo. Ugh so frustrating when you thousands of photos😭😭 Also I ask Echo to open UA-cam and play my music since I have UA-cam Premium Music. Hey man, new subscriber here! Great video! A little confused on the lack of Zigbee compatibility functionality. How do I know which devices are still able to work with Alexa and which are using the Zigbee protocol? For example, if I choose to use Ring cameras and the alarm system, smart Yale locks, Ecobee thermostats and smart lighting? Am I still able to have Alexa lock doors, change temperature, activate the alarm, etc? Or do those use the Zigbee protocol and I’m forced to get the Echo Show 10?
I'm going to be honest, after wasting £250 on an amazon echo 10 (the rotating one) I'm never going to get another "smart display" from amazon. Up to date you still can't just open apps and watch them as long as you want like bbc iplayer and UA-cam. (including watching cooking recepies like advertised) It doesn't matter how many settings you change, it will turn the app off randomly around 10 minutes. Pretty sad since you cna just buy a cheap tablet and mimic all of those functionalities easily. So for me, this one is actually worse. Again, easier and cheaper to get a tablet and keep it constantly plugged in to do all of this. Amazon, still making millions out off people whithout any idea 🙄 I want to say that I do use Alexas in every room to control lights and other stuff but again, my echo 5s and dots are doing just enough, for everything else I have my amazon cubes connected to tvs on wich just works better and it's actually cheaper as well and ofc not laggy as all echos with screens are... This in 2022 its laughable 👍
You should probably edit or mention in text for this video that it is no longer a fully touchscreen device. Amazon rolled out the Fire TV update and removed touchscreen for all streaming apps except for a tiny section where they force you to use a virtual controller or buy their fire tv controller.
Ok, you are wrong with not being able to watch UA-cam on it. Pair a firestick remote to it and you can use the show 15 as a firestick as well. We have ours mounted under our kitchen cabinet and our kids watch UA-cam and cartoons on it.
Due to compatibility issues I'm moving my house to Alexa, I'm planning to use the 15 in the dining room. Could you please let me know what additional apps functions etc have been added since this vid? A big ask I know but would be really appreciated
Can someone answer me TWO very simple questions: When in photo mode - does the photo mode stay on indefinietly and does it have stupid watermark text in the corner of the photo mode? My stupid Echo show 5 has photo mode but always has water marks saying - "ask Alexa - when was this photo taken" etc.) I have unticked every single option in the settings menus to turn off recommendations to no avail. The whole reason I want to buy an echo show 15 is to use it as a frame 1st and smart device 2nd... i dont want widgets popping up or stupid "recommendations" that effectively ruin the photo frame experience. Can I have a constant live stream of ring cameras on the alexa show? For example, If I send my kids outside to play, can I pull up the feed on outdoor ring camera's to see what's going on the whole time my kids are outside, or will it shut off after awhile?
Does this have the ability to add more than one widget of the same type? If I have say 2 separate "to do" lists or 2 separate "shopping lists" can I have 2 or does it not allow that? If it doesn't, I might be able to avoid the problem by doing one of the lists as a picture (to be specific, we have a list in the kitchen of what food is available in the freezer downstairs so it probably only changes once a week) if there is an easy way to add/delete images (I do have Prime). Help?

there's an error. you can actually set up a routine to live view your camera upon motion detection. it works for my blink and eufy cameras. not sure if it works on ring.
I use the Cook'n Recipe Organizer where it allows me to put all my recipes . Cook'n just announced that you can use your Cook'n Recipe Organizer on Echo Show devices. I'm having trouble getting it to work. Do you have any really detailed instructions on how to do this? Because of this feature, I just bought an Echo Show 15. I really hope someone can help me.

I have issues with my echo show 15 and Amazon customer service is no help so I was hoping maybe you might know how to solve my problem. As of several days ago my Show 15 won’t stay on the Home Screen. After 20 seconds it launches Photo Frame. I’ve given up trying to get it to stop since nothing works - factory reset, latest software, no Routines triggering it. I even gave customer support remote access to my device and they couldn’t fix it. Unlike you say in your video, my Photo Frame does display the time and temperature so I decided I would live with it. However I cannot change the length of time photos are displayed. They only stay on screen for 10 seconds. The setting to change the speed doesn’t affect Photo Frame. Can you offer any suggestions? Why is it that my doorbell shows up full screen but my floodlight cam does not shows in a little picture quarter of the screen can I change that somehow so my flood light shows up full screen also?
So sad that this device no longer works with Fire TV Recast. I can no long watch my live local TV or recorded shows. This happened with the software update of the Show 15 to Fire TV. It will no longer connect to the Recast device. It's a deal breaker for me.
I had just bought this and I’m a little disappointed I bought it to access recipes. I’ve tried using the Allrecipes skill and there is no way to link my account to view my personal recipes. Can’t even go to the website through Amazon silk it won’t let me it just redirects me to a blank blocked page. If you could help it would be great.
I want to set this up as a second PC screen being a music producer and this being touch screen I could leave the mixer in here and get my mixdown right by adjusting the faders by hand/touch ... if I can't figure it out they're missing a trick. Dave can the Echo 15 pair with an existing Echo speaker group so it plays its sound through these speakers almost like through the blue tooth option you mentioned ?

After the update yesterday you need a amazon fire tv controller gen 3 to control the touchscreen not so touchless anymore.

An accelerometer does not detect moving bodies in the room and accelerometer detects motion of the object that you’re holding

Put the ring and or nest app in your alexa , link account and just ask her to show the camera. VERY EASY

on blink you can get a motion pop up live view on your echos.
I’ve heard the Recipe keeper you can use with echo 15 and all your devices. I’m having trouble with this. Do you a a show about doing this?

The smart-home dashboard layout is poor at best & I believe sets this device as a non starter! 😕

I just ran 2 tests and I was able to view 10 minutes before it cut the live feed and went back to the home screen.
Wyze cams will stay on liveview with my echo show 8 so i assume it will work the same on the echo show 15
@@SteveDOES probably have to change the settings in the ring app for the camera to stay on indefinitely regardless of time/motion detected

What speaker system would work? The 15 speakers are not the best
So sad that this device no longer works with Fire TV Recast. I can no long watch my live local TV or recorded shows. This happened with the software update of the Show 15 to Fire TV. It will no longer connect to the Recast device. It's a deal breaker for me.
It does work with ring I looked it up
Anyway we can sideload apps like the tablets?

I had just bought this and I’m a little disappointed I bought it to access recipes. I’ve tried using the Allrecipes skill and there is no way to link my account to view my personal recipes. Can’t even go to the website through Amazon silk it won’t let me it just redirects me to a blank blocked page. If you could help it would be great.
I want to set this up as a second PC screen being a music producer and this being touch screen I could leave the mixer in here and get my mixdown right by adjusting the faders by hand/touch ... if I can't figure it out they're missing a trick. If I can ... this is an epic second screen with alexa built in

Dave can the Echo 15 pair with an existing Echo speaker group so it plays its sound through these speakers almost like through the blue tooth option you mentioned ?
Can you please tell me how to get touch command to work? My echo 15 all sudden keeps asking me to connect remote to fire tv and I do not have that nor do I want to. It worked just fine until few days ago now when I go to you tube and try and choose program it doesn’t do anything but tell me to set up remote. Please help
