I had a job where I dealt with a lot of performers and celebrities of various kinds, and I used to always say I NEVFER wanted to meet Melanie, because even back when, I KNEW I would fall hopelessly in love, even among the other 'Beautiful People'- that clip just proved it for me. Melanie is beyond adorable, still today!

Yes he looked like a goober asking such an odd question to start off with was unprofessional to put to Melanie, an interviewer is supposed to make a guest feel comfortable enough to relax, not feel like they are on trial by the morality police.

I have one of her painted items. It's a stick called "Wood Stick". It's even signed by her. I also hung out with her and took some photographs. She was so kind and gracious!

For an afternoon talk show Mike Douglas booked some cool people, Billy Carter aside. I remember coming home from school and seeing Patti Smith and her band. That blew me away! Life changing.

Patti Smith WAS so amazing. Her old house in St. Clair Shores, MI on a canal just sold. I so wanted to buy it!

I met Melanie in akron ohio in sept of 2004 at wood stock revisted with john sabation and arlo guthrie
People LISTENED to Melanie, they didn't even whisper.
I saw her as an opening act for a band. I didn't know who she was but when she started to sing "Candles in the rain I was done. I couldn't forget her. I was in awe of her. I fell in love. What a beautiful person inside and out. I got to meet her in the 90s as a much older person and she was funny and gracious.

What a strange and interesting interview. Mike Douglas was genuine and awkward. I used to watch this show everyday as a kid. What a difference watching it as an adult and in the current time period. And Billy Carter? A jerk in any era.
