I remember sound recording this documentary of Melanie way back in the late 60’s. Especially remember recording her in a rowing boat on the serpentine in Hyde Park, London. Her voice really did carry across the lake and so many people were able to enjoy a beautiful voice from a lovely lady. Phil Smith
The sound quality of her performances outside the studio is remarkably clear, and the guitar-vocal mix seems pretty close to perfect. I'm not an engineer, so I don't know all the ins and outs of this kind of production, but I'm guessing that it was a little more elaborate a set-up than it looks to have been.
I’ve wanted to know more about Melanie after finding some of her records, so glad I found this documentary! I love how sweet she is, and yet bold in her songs .
Her voice runs through my veins, her songs touch my soul, and her beauty makes me sigh. I can't believe it has been over 50 years, but what a wonderful journey.

Sad thing is, my agent and I are taking a TV series out to production companies in February and I wanted to use a clip from Melanie's song 'Hearing The News' at the end of one episode. Now she'll never know.
My daughter's boy friend was playing Ruby Tuesday by the Stones the other day. I pulled up Melanie's version, which he loved. Such a powerful voice. Just awesome. I still remember when I saw "Cyclone" live on TV and thought "Who is she?". I just fell in love with her voice. Thank you Melanie.
Melanies voice touched my soul. i heard her first time in school, in an english lesson, in the 70th in Berlin, when the teacher played her song Alexander beatle, and we had to translate the text into german. I specially love her early songs, like In the hour or Jonny boy or Mama mama... i am so sad that she died. i am 62 now. And knowing that she died makes me feel llike losing an important part of my life and makes me feel lonley...
I recall someone said she was in the Big Pink house of Bob Dylan before Woodstock 1969 and was heard singing Mr Tambourine Man in the basement and somehow I heard a tape of that and to this day that song and the way she sang it to me is the most beautiful song I never heard played. Then I “think” I saw her sing at the Isle of White concert in 1970, and she was just as wonderful. So glad to hear these other songs.
You sound engagingly like an English girl who has spent time in America, rather than the other way around. I was just 6 years old when this was filmed. I wish I could get a time machine and watch this being filmed as an adult. :) Wonderful artistry, wonderful voice. Thank you.
I was infatuated with her since seeing her at Woodstock. Saw her shows as often as she played NYC. The Fillmore East and Felt Forum. Sadly, she can no longer sing. She lost her voice through some kind of ailment. A life long performer, her gift finally gone. I was young at the right time, the golden era of music. My love of rock had room for great artists like Melanie, Joni Mitchell, Linda Rondstat, Joan Baez. All my love, Melanie. Your beauty still shines.
Melanie! I have always been a fan - I think you and my dad might be friends, he's a musican, too- but I stumbled onto your work on my own and not through him somehow? During this uncertain and scary time, I've been listening to you a lot. Your songs and voice give me hope for us all at this currently dark time on this planet. For this girl on her own and all alone in the country, surrounded with only her animals and your songs, I wish to Thank you. Thank you. Your songs and spirit are a beacon of light for me dear Lady. Love to all who see this. Be well and stay safe ! Love from Lee, USA.
That voice, that one-of-a-kind voice!!! Whoever put the string arrangements behind her is a genius, it's an incredibly beautiful combination, her songwriting and beautiful voice and that arrangement. I wish I could've seen her live, but had to settle for seeing her on TV on shows like the Tonight Show & the Michel Douglass Show, as well as on AM radio (WABC in NY) and listening to her albums (which I still have in 2020).
I've been a great fan of Melanie since the late sixties. I still have some of her long-playing recordings. She is a good songwritter and has that unique style of singing her own compositions which she does so well and beautifully. "Beautiful People" brings such beautiful memories. Nowdays it makes me reflect on life at this moment that we have a nitwit, moran in The White House.
I can see who inspired Stevie Nicks, at least in part. Great footage. Love her fingerstyle acoustic playing, her unassuming sweet voice with that unique vibrato, and her meaningful lyrics.
Thank you Bill Dudas for bringing much more of Melanie's music to me. PDQ Records had a whole bin of just her Vinyl before they closed at the end of 2019.
I admire her innocence and beautiful soul when she speaks and performs. Rest in Peace Melanie ❤️ You brought peace and love to our lives ❤️

Tuning My Guitar has to been the most powerful sad amazing song I've heard ever
..yeah...plus Leftover Wine and Lay down ❤✌
I recall someone said she was in the Big Pink house of Bob Dylan before Woodstock 1969 and was heard singing Mr Tambourine Man in the basement and somehow I heard a tape of that and to this day that song and the way she sang it to me is the most beautiful song I never heard played.
Thank you.
A lovely portrait of a lovely - and equally talented - lady! ❤️
Just got in to your music Mel, I didn't know you were at Woodstock. No one tells me anything! Love you lots. 💕
Fortunate to get goosebumps on great, meaningful songs. Tears are rare. But she brings them out. So exceptionally emotional.
Thank you so much for sharing this Melanie. Your beautiful spirit inspires me so much. (,:
Purity of soul never fails to enchant. Thank you for sharing your gifts with a world which is less weary therefore.
Melanie is an Icon, Blessed Love ✌️♥️🌟🎸💕🚐🐻🎪🎶🎶🎵🎵🙏🥰🎨
Thank you Melanie for putting this up. I had never ever seen this before.. Loved it sent it to my brother and sister.
Simply one of the most captivating performers. Her songs touch our hearts.
Thank you for speaking for our generation. We need you NOW! 2020 PEACE
Amazing.....I miss her
Wonderful gift in this World, never be another like Melanie. As beautiful on the inside as on the outside.
The burning heart of Woodstock
within brown eyes of compassion
decade after decade
she endures
beautiful
honest
true TO THE SOUL
since day 1...
Congratulations! You seem to be loving a life of validated creativity bringing joy to people. Good on ya.
My idol since a very young kid 🙏🏽 resonated with her words so much 💗
Just a bit of information. Melanie played at Woodstock when she was just 18 years old....phenomenal.
She was 22yrs old at woodstock.
Wrong. She was 22.
I am sad that I didn't know about Melanie earlier only found her 6 months ago catching up love you babe
She is very cool, natural, charming and lovable
I can see who inspired Stevie Nicks, at least in part. Great footage. Love her fingerstyle acoustic playing, her unassuming sweet voice with that unique vibrato, and her meaningful lyrics.
I never knew she sang the Jagger/Richards composition "Jigsaw Puzzle" From their Beggars Banquet. Great stuff Melanie
Thank you Bill Dudas for bringing much more of Melanie's music to me. PDQ Records had a whole bin of just her Vinyl before they closed at the end of 2019.
I love this. Melanie rocks. I hope Smiles and Shen enjoy it, too.
Lovely voice
Love you Melanie you can inspire a new generation
Her children must be so proud of what their mom accomplished at such a young age. 👏
So humble and absolutely real. All blessings to you.
