His parents had a nice house, clearly reasonably-well-off. All he had to do was tell women he was going to inherit lots of money when he turned 25, and they'd be climbing all over him, moaning and dropping their clothes on the floor.

He doesn't care about other people, what they've eaten, or even if they've eaten at all; other people are graded just like the FDA grades meat, and they are only considered as they affect his life: so, either useful to him, harmful or useless to him, or irrelevant to him. And I don't think he was necessarily "spoiled" either. Dad was keeping up with his school stuff, asking when he's going to graduate, what's going on with his transcripts. Dad wanted his son to do something with his money because Dad is a CPA and probably wants to help him start saving/managing. They gave him a load of chores to do as well, seemingly.
Not as spoiled as some other kids these days, anyway. He needed the pretense of having a job in order to justify spending time around the house. Lots of pressure on him to move out and move in with Cat and start paying rent, so he had to invent reasons the money was missing. Just something messed up with his head where he found it easier to invent lies about what he's doing than just facing his problems.

He said that his girlfriend’s parents were talking nicely to him, which was a weird thing to say. Also he mentioned that his dad would get really mad a couple times. So whether or not he actually did, the kid seemed to perceive his dad that way.

There’s a common denominator I’ve noticed with situations like this. The child lies about their life, fails to leave home, and eventually the lies start catching up to them. The parents begin confronting their lies and threaten or do cut them off financially. These people are jealous of everyone around them moving on and being successful and don’t want anyone to know how much of a failure they are. To save face and to “solve their financial problems” they murder parents for insurance money, their house, and/or possessions. It’s sick, selfish, and narcissistic.

Whenever I’m watching these detailed testimonies and I’m always baffled. How does anyone remember what they do day to day in that kind of detail? Meals you ate, specific phone conversations? Is it a sign of guilt when a defendant can remember everything in such detail?

This trial is only the second one I've ever watched in it's entirety, well to this point any way but I have seen a lot of other highlights of trials. Never have I seen such a Professional, Knowledgeable, Well Spoken, Kind, Compassionate and Effectively Comminicating Judge. Even though the topic is absolutely horrific, he gives me hope that by communicating and helping set the tone of the court room in such a manner as he is, that the jurors are able to be less stressed and able to focus more clearly on all the facts presented to bring justice to the victims, Mr. and Mrs. Halderson seem to be upstanding parents and citizens that were taken too soon and will be missed dearly. I've shed a few tears myself. I hope they are in a beautiful place ❤ May justice be served

I agree with you 100%. The judge should be the standard that all others should try to emulate. I have not been able to watch all of the trial. Has the defense started yet? What could the defense actually be? What a sad pathetic son that felt he had to kill and dismember his parents rather than admit he was in deep trouble.

I 1000% agree. So much so that I googled the judge, he is such an outlier in a good way.
And also, the lead prosecutor was very eloquent too, well complimented by the other prosecutor's energetic, straightforward demeanor.
Good job to all of them. (And I rarely see likeable judges or prosecutors in any courtroom footage)
