I get that he has no “incentive” to plead out in this case, but especially since the death penalty isn’t an option, I don’t understand why he’d rather drag this out with a trial. The evidence is overwhelming, there’s literally NO defense, and he just looks like more of a monster with every bit of information, testimony, & evidence. The fact that he’s putting everyone through this with literally NO benefit just shows him as even more of a monster.
Because you're talking about a 100% guarantee of dying in prison versus a non-zero percent chance of walking free. Never underestimate the stupidity of a jury.
I would of pleaded guilty if the prosecution agreed to life with parole but there is no way the prosecution would have offered a plea deal as their case was airtight and they knew he’d be found guilty. There’s absolutely no doubt in this case. Too much camera footage etc. Also the defence team are unreal at their job. Never have I seen such an organised prosecution.
He is not only putting everyone through it ONCE but he wants to file an appeal and put them through it TWICE. But then if he had a conscience, he would not have done what he did to his parents.
Why Chandler thought to say his dad packed a large amount of cash is beyond me. Did he not think how out of character that would be for his father? Bart and Krista clearly had a loving and supportive group of friends that they spent time with frequently, and who have a comprehensive understanding of their lives. They would immediately notice any inconsistencies with each of their behaviors. Chandler is hopeless.
I have given this some thought and I concluded that perhaps Chandler went in and emptied out the safe and attributed it to his father just in case Mitchell knew how much money should be there but is no longer there. We all know how strapped Chandler was for cash because he seemed too lazy to work and one of these videos includes a place where Chandler asked Cat for five dollars so he could get something to eat and drink. If he's begging his girlfriend for five bucks, four thousand dollars must have seemed like a HUGE amount to him and I don't think he would hesitate to steal it out of his father's safe. After all, he knows very well that his father will never notice it's gone.
@@maryannanderson2213 I think you’re right. The recorded conversation between the retired detective and Chandler was SO a Wisconsin conversation. Everyone knows EVERYONE in this dang state! Coming from a girl from NC, moving here in 2019.
Holy cow, the parent's friend didn't believe a dang thing he was saying!!! She knew knew them, what they drank, their "financial habits", kind of how they travel and hang out, and everything he was telling was out of character for them!! The way he talks to people you'd think he believes his own lies.
11:09 "Picked up by friends". It sounds an awful lot like "Shanann said she was going to take the kids to a friends house and that she would be back later". Any time there is someone missing, and the relative our spouse says the missing person went to go be with an unnamed, unidentified "friend", then you know that person is responsible for their disappearance.
I can't believe he was 24 and couldn't cook for himself. I get that maybe his mom wanted to cook for him, some parents enjoy feeding their children even if they are adults, but it being to the point where his parents' friends knew that if his mom was gone for so long he would have "run out" of food?? That's insane to me. Talk about failure to launch.
Completely unrelated to the horrific content of this case, but as a non-Midwesterner, I am so struck by the jovial, goodnatured, polite demeanors of ALL the people in this trial -- the judge, the lawyers, the witnesses, everyone. Midwesterners really are the most pleasant, goodnatured, neighborly Americans.
I have said this previously, possibly here, the Judge is incredible! He should get a raise/promotion after this case. He was respectful and mindful of the feelings of each witness. He made people feel comfortable. He offered water to a few people, just amazing! I think I am going to write him a Thank You note for the way he handled things and for denying Chandler the possibility of parole! The community can feel safe again and heal from this traumatic event that changed so many lives. I feel so bad for Mitchell. He has lost his entire family. 💔
He must have some sort of demented personality like vulnerable narcissism. He wanted tons of attention for being hurt, and even had the friend look at the "owie" on his foot
I bet Kat, the girlfriend / fiance is thanking her lucky stars he never got the chance to drag her away to FL away from family! I feel the worst for her...to realize his whole schtick was BS must have been a shock. This narcissist likely told her all the time how much he loved her...enough to ditch poor Bart's remains on the family farm. Sheesh.
You've got that right ! The first thing a narcissist does is to spirit their love interest away from their family & friends ! Chaz is cunning . I think his actions were premeditated; He'd been stewing for quite some time also there might of been some sibling rivalry as his brother was more successful & independent in his pursuits compared to his lifestyle as a dupe .Garnering sympathy from anyone or any situation until his parents finally caught on . I wouldn't be surprised if he threw himself down the stairs as a way to manipulate his failed attempts of control when he was clearly out of control. It's a good thing Mitchell wasn't living there or he too might have been a victim ! This situation is so sad💔
This judge is beyond amazing at his job, this family was so loved 😔 the cop neighbor that recorded the recorded the interaction was also an awesome person, going out of his way to offer help chandler while they are trying to locate his parents and to respect the percents enough at the same time to record his interactions with their son in case he’s the culprit is amazing 🙏🏼
My heart goes out to the brother not only losing his parents but having to give a statement in court against his little brother he's going to need alot of support and everyone from neighbour's and other family looks after him the prosecution team is doing a great job the judge is amazing and the police definitely done a thorough investigation into this case the way everyone spoke about the couple was heartwarming and they had known no way they would just go away without being in touch and the best friends going 88 miles to look and even they knew something wasn't right either it's heartbreaking knowing he did this just because he didn't want his lies caught out especially when his father was catching up if he just said I think with the way the parents were would have still supported him no matter what

Seems odd he would help his parents pack but the subject of who they were going with never comes up. Actually, it's odd he was helping his parents pack. Help with what?? Most ppl can do that on their own just fine.
I guess all these Wisconsin mothers are afraid their adult sons will burn their fingers if they are allowed to cook for themselves? Why can’t a 23-year old feed himself????
The retired officer is *such* a cop... :D "Wow, I'm such a clutz when it comes to social media... anyways, tell me about why you don't exhaust every avenue trying to find your supposedly missing parents!"
So they took a large amount of alcohol and money, and left without telling him who they were going with. So Chandler never really knew his parents at all.
I wonder if when Chandler started going to neighbors houses and realizing most of them had cameras if he understood then he'd never get away with his story about friends coming to pick up his parents.
Yes, I was wondering the same thing. Especially the neighbor who is a retired police officer. 🚔 🙌 Chandler really wanted that footage to view it to see what others could've noticed/witnessed and to see how he needed to spin his lies. I love that the retired police officer told Chandler to keep in close contact with the detective on the case, he even mentioned having the police follow him for a few days 😆 brilliant.
Ya I think that’s why he became so paranoid about police being outside the house because he knew they would probably be coming for him after the camera footage had been viewed.
I suppose the accident Chandler had is the reason family friends felt they should provide meals for him during his parent’s absence. Or perhaps they did it out of love for Bart and Krista. What a testament to how much their friends loved them, they gave without even being ask because all of them knew the couple would have done the same for them. Just Wow😮
I feel like he used that as a crutch for attention and to use as an excuse to not get a job. His brother, Mitchell, was hospitalized for diabetes and Krista was very distraught about it. And soon after his brother's hospitalization, Chandler had his fall
God this couple sounded so kind and loved. In his interrogation, Chandler, of course, made them sound controlling and almost abusive. I mean, they found out he was lying to them so maybe they weren't happy with him I'm sure, but I've seen nothing to support what he said. Also, it's really, really hard to see pictures of Bart sitting with his dog in a chair in front of the fireplace knowing what ended up happening in that fireplace. So unbelievably sick. All because he was going to get caught in a huge lie. Psychopath.
@@maireado1744 I figured that out once I got to that point in the trial, and it's so heartbreaking anyone could do that to another human being, let alone your own parents 😔
It's absolutely insane that Chandler didn't just plead guilty and take a plea deal (if one was offered yet), it is so crystal clear that he did this. I'm very interested to see where the defense goes with their argument, I can't imagine how they can try to pin this on someone else... Maybe they'll offer a plea deal later, he better just take it. How painful for Mitch to have to sit through this and hear how his parents were crudely dismembered and burned in their own fireplace. Just the ultimate trauma...
39:41 Last witness, Linsmeier- well done, sir, well done! Keep him talking & secretly recording him while you're at it, discrepancies are sure to surface. 👏👏 30+ year newly retired detective as a neighbor, yeh great idea to go talk to him Chandler 😂 Edit: for time stamp
Absolutely 💯 Chandler probably had no idea that that neighbor was a retired police officer. Brilliant that he actually told him to keep in very close contact with the detective assigned to the case and even encouraged Chandler to have the police follow him for a few days! I noticed that Chandler said less to him than to the others about cameras/any possible video coverage. 📹 He also basically sealed in Chandlers head that the police will be able to access phone records, flight records, etc...
Eventhough he's a monster and the evidence against him is overwhelming, I can't help but think his defense team is lacking a bit. Don't give this little jerk any reason to cite ineffective council later on appeal. He needs to go away and stay away. The prosecution has put together a well organized case.
I don't understand how his lawyers didn't try the weed-vaporized-the-brainmatter-Insanity-defense. How slow he was in the interrogation room & the "laziness" of the crime smell like tons of bad pot (daily - since age 11) to me. (Nothing against weed! Or smokers! Or being high!)
I think he will appeal regardless of defence team as he will just want a few days out of prison and to put his brother, uncle and family friends through more trauma. He’s a narcissist and pure evil.
This is sad what happened to these loving and caring parents, friend's, neighbor's and it seems like they were very loved and will be very missed. I would also like to say that the State Prosecutor is very well prepared and Professional. I am impressed how well. I always wanted to be a lawyer but never pursued my dream.
Looks like ole Chaz was blowing smoke up everyone's rear end; what a monster!👾He's been disturbed for a very very long time to do what he did. Shock & awe; my heart goes out to all who knew the parents & the ghastly end they faced💔💔 I don't know how anybody can stand to look at him much less defend him👽
Is it me or did he almost act like he wanted to get caught? Everything I have heard that Chaz said to close friends would have made him look suspicious. Is it just that he is so insane that he doesn't realize what he was saying was throwing up red flags like crazy....
I’ve wondered the same. He’s so detailed with his lies, and yet so sloppy with evidence. Can you be that insane And want to get caught? I guess we want to know so that we’re able to recognize such people among us? In hindsight it’s obvious? Why, why, why, what drives a human to commit such things? Do you think in the (near) future everyone will have a brain scan and/or dna done to either confirm or suggest it’s possible? In the womb even? Moral, ethical questions arise. Glad I’ll be gone soon. This case deems to be a slam, dunk for the prosecution. The judge is wonderful. If I ever had to be brought before a court, I would want this judge to preside. Well done. If Chandler helped load the car the night prior, why didn't they drive that car?🚗
My cousin was killed back in 02 and the way we found out was because the grass hadn't been cut in 3 weeks and for her and her bf that was extremely out of the norm. It was normal for the family to not hear from her that's just how she was but the neighbors called the police to do a well check strictly because of their grass

He literally lived in his house WITH his parents he murdered, then cut them up, and attempted to burn their Bodies. Wow, how evil, He must have no conscious at all. 🙈 A pure demonic act, how could he not feel his parents presence around him after such a horrific act on them? Wow , truly a sickening case. During the audio conversation Chandler comes across as one of the most incompetent humans in existence. Doesn't know who the detective on the case is. Doesn't seem to know anything that could be of help. Even simple things that most adult sons would know about their parents. I don't blame the defense for their lack of cross examination in this trial. Most of this testimony so far has been Lego testimony. Small blocks, each pretty simple with little room for interpretation. Like Lego they will later be used in building the Prosecution's case for Chandler's guilt. Remember this is a real trial. Not a celebrity media circus or a courtroom drama.

Chandler's attorney's have their backs to him. He seems so all alone behind them never looking at anyone, never asking them anything, never being consulted by them.
Bc he’s a narcissist and is so delusional he thinks he can still get away with it. Kinda like Chris Watts, but worse.
Narcissistic personality disorder.
It’s almost as if the friends know more about them than their own son..
I think he was so scared of being exposed as the complete and total fraud that he was, that he was obviously willing to go to extreme measures to hide all of his lies.

My heart goes out to the brother not only losing his parents but having to give a statement in court against his little brother he's going to need alot of support and everyone from neighbour's and other family looks after him the prosecution team is doing a great job the judge is amazing and the police definitely done a thorough investigation into this case the way everyone spoke about the couple was heartwarming and they had known no way they would just go away without being in touch and the best friends going 88 miles to look and even they knew something wasn't right either it's heartbreaking knowing he did this just because he didn't want his lies caught out especially when his father was catching up if he just said I think with the way the parents were would have still supported him no matter what
I think it's interesting that everyone spoke so well of Bart and Krista and in fact the only one who couldn't find a kind word to say about Bart was our boy Chandler. He paints his father as being a hothead that everyone has to walk softly around because he gets in a foul mood and won't speak to anyone and you just have to stay away from him until he gets over whatever is bothering him. I never heard anyone else say Bart was that kind of person and it's really sad that only his son seems determined to make everyone think the very worst of his father. I guess Bart really ticked him off by calling the school and proving his lies!
I think they was on to Chandler even more once he was on the news and spoke off camera.
Yes I thought the same thing. Why even go on 1 let alone 3 news channels

Seriously! Who helps their parents pack🙄🤪
Supposedly, all the “alcohol” & “money” his non-drinking & non-gambling parents took with them 🤭🤭🤭
I guess all these Wisconsin mothers are afraid their adult sons will burn their fingers if they are allowed to cook for themselves? Why can’t a 23-year old feed himself????
Love the Judge! He did an amazing job, very likeable, humble, and professional.
Much love from Sweden 🇸🇪 and Ghana 🇬🇭
The retired officer is *such* a cop... :D
"Wow, I'm such a clutz when it comes to social media... anyways, tell me about why you don't exhaust every avenue trying to find your supposedly missing parents!"
So they took a large amount of alcohol and money, and left without telling him who they were going with. So Chandler never really knew his parents at all.
I always thought that was what HE'D like to do. He was projecting. 😊
Im sure
I can’t believe that they all thought a 23 year old couldn’t provide meals for himself. I think his mother & maybe his father too babied him too much.
There is hardly any cross questioning! There is no doubt evento from the defense that this monster is responsible for this tragedy.
Psychopath.
I guess I didn't see or hear what happened in the fireplace so far in the trial, so maybe I missed it.. could you clarify? @Nina

👏👏 30+ year newly retired detective as a neighbor, yeh great idea to go talk to him Chandler 😂
Edit: for time stamp
Thank you for the timestamp and I totally agree!
