As many comments have attested to, Umbris is not the theoretical limit of this run, I just somehow forgot that Ghost Ratchet exists, like a dumbass. The limit, as far as I know, is Drek Phase 2, which we have a start to figuring out. I'm open to revisiting this run again at a later date, possibly with some altered rules, if there's support for it. I am genuinely curious to see if Drek can be beaten under a different ruleset.
I think the lesson here is that ammo can make or break these runs, so it's time to try a weapon that doesn't need ammo. Oh yeah, I'm talking about... THE TAUNTER
17:28 Actually if you aim the Suck Cannon up high, you can have the projectile bounce when it hits the ground, go over the wall, and into the tower. I found that out when I was doing my own personal run once that involved not ever using the vendor. Felt like a genius when I figured that out.
Ratchet and Clank is one of my all time favorite franchises and when I found your channel it was an instant subscribe. Love the challenge runs!! Excellent job and keep it up man :)

14:39 you know, if you use the swing shot targets right as you fall into the mud, you'll be able to obtain G H O S T R A T C H E T. And be able to jump through walls. Including the one that leads to the info bot for batalia. I'm not sure if this really matters considering the rest of the road blocks though lol
I do have a few ideas for a Going Commando challenge run A. Sheepinator B. Clank Zapper C. Walloper Of course these will have to be done in challenge mode but they'd still be fun I think.
Hey uh, I'm not sure if anyone here has figured this out before or just didn't think to try it, but I think Drek is defeatable. I'm not referring to the PDA skip only possible on the PS3 version either. I mean, no use of the wrench or any other weapon, apart from the suck cannon. However, if it works, (and that's a big IF) it would be a massive pain in the butt. And to give you an idea of how bad it is, if you either mess up the preparation or die during the fight, you'll need to complete Veldin 2 all over again, no restarting from the checkpoint before the fight. I think I understand how the glitch works, although I might be wrong. (Maybe it was just a 1 in a 1,000,000 fluke, but it doesn't feel like it) Basically, play through Veldin 2 as normal until you reach the versa targets above the lava just before the tunnels that lead to the Giant Clank section. Jump into the lava and pull yourself out with the Swingshot. As you probably know, this makes the game freak the hell out! Either play through the rest of the level as normal or abuse the buggy effects to skip to the Giant Clank section. Become Giant Clank and play up until you encounter Drek. This is where the fun begins. If I'm correct about how the bug works, walk Clank directly into Drek's massive mech. Your feet will deal rediculous damage, ending the first phase in less than a second. When the dust settles, you'll notice that the little stunt we just pulled here also took a considerable chunk on Drek's second phase away too. If you pull it all off flawlessly, Drek may only have enough health to tank a few shots from the Suck Cannon, although I'd personally recommend the golden suck cannon. I didn't actually manage to beat Drek when I accidentally pulled this off, but I did record myself doing it! Look up "Sunday Ratchet & Clank Twitch Stream 0012 (April 24 2022)" on youtube and skip to 22:40 and watch until 25:31. I could be wrong about how the glitch is pulled off, but if I'm right, Drek is absolutely possible with only the suck cannon!
I managed to try it out for myself, this is a seriously cool find! Unfortunately I haven't been able to drain enough of Drek's health for the Suck Cannon to finish the job. I'll keep testing it and trying things out though. Thanks a ton for sharing this, I'm so close to being able to call this challenge 100% possible!
After a number of other tries, here's the conclusion I'm drawing: So the near escape by using the Swingshot as you drop into the lava activates Ghost Ratchet, as is well known. Typically, this disables a lot (not all, or else he'd fall through the floor) of the collsion on Ratchet, which allows him to pass through walls. When brought into the Drek fight, it would appear that this may carry over to Giant Clank as well, meaning that Clank would phase right through Drek upon touching him. As I understand it, but definitely take this with a grain of salt as I could be mistaken, while the collision that normally renders him unable to physically walk through enemies is disabled, any damage frames he outputs are not. Jumping as Giant Clank I believe does damage, so his feet may have hitboxes of their own. When the typical collison is taken away, the feet hitboxes are able to deal damage for as long as they collide with an enemy, in this case, Drek. With inactive hitboxes, this makes sense. Normally, Clank's feet would only do damage if he is currently falling. But Ratchet's hitboxes being inactive doesn't necessarily mean that the ground's are too, which may explain why we can still move around with inactive collision. (Once again, these are only theories, and I have yet to check with someone who knows this game's code more than I do) In short, running into Drek with Ghost Ratchet activated does massive damage, but unfortunately it seems to only last as long as until Drek is unloaded in order to be placed in the next cutscene and moved on to the next phase. Every attempt has come out to pretty much the exact same amount of damage. I believe it's because that damage is being done every frame, but the cutscene always kicks in a particular amount of frames after the requisite amount of health had been depleted. The extra damage after the usual threshold definitely carries over to the next phase, as you have seen yourself, but the time between 'hitting the damage threshold' and 'the beginning of the next cutscene' seems to be a fixed amount of frames. And when only a certain amount of damage is done every frame, the extra damage done in that amount of time is the same every time (as far as I know). And even with the extra damage done, the Suck Cannon still can't get by. I still haven't tried with the Gold Suck Cannon yet, but as it wasn't allowed, it seems this run still may not be doable. (At least during Drek. As many commentors have pointed out, Ghost Ratchet can be used to skip the Snagglebeast on Umbris. We're close. We're so close.)
FYI: On Batalia you have infinite ammo via an enemy spawner on top of the building opposite the tresspasser puzzle at the beginning of the planet. It's easily missed if you aren't looking for it so I can understand thinking you only have limited ammo for the planet.
For future challenges, I would personally recommend playing in NG+. No cheats, no shortcuts, you get the weapon at the start, and the only real complication is in 2 and 3 where enemies scale up in strength and you start with more health and better armor.
I got two ideas, one harder than the other. Hard idea: Use PDA infinite jumps to leave the battlefield to restock. Unsure if Drek might deload during this. You'd also need to go through more of the level to grab more Toads, introducing more chances to die while restocking. There is a teleporter to the ship before the boss, maybe you could grab some toads from the beginning of the level? Second idea is, can't you infinite PDA jump to the final arena? I don't mean the glitch where Drek is already defeated, iirc that should skip to the final phase no matter what, which as you pointed out does have suckable enemies.
I know of the method where you beat Drek on a separate save file and then use the PDA to skip to his arena where it's suddenly in it's post battle phase, but I think I convinced myself that it wouldn't be fair for the run. Also, I think I might have forgotten the PDA even existed after I got through Umbris. The latter part's my bad. XP
@@matticusomega that method only works on the PS3 version. You kill drek, and then load a different file instead of pushing the button, and on every file afterwards, the deplanitizer will be pointing upwards. If you come to the arena from behind, you can also skip the boss trigger. But if you go the normal path, you'll still have to fight drek but you won't be able to stop the countdown timers.
You know I personally really appreciate how you use the actual canonical names for things in the R&C series as I do when they're known, I find it's a rarity (not that it matters at all). Regardless, fantastic content mate!
If you also wanted to allow use of the Morph-o-Ray, the chickens it creates can be sucked up with the Suck Cannon. I don't know how much help it would be during the boss fights, but it should at least help with the otherwise impassable planets.
What if you did a ratchet & clank 2, with only ratchet & clank 1 wepons but all other tings too. like when you get the uppgraded wrench you will not be able to use it anymore. And no strafing and no pauseing.

You know if you wanted to break boxes you could have just used the thruster pack. That would have saved you so much time and ammo in the Ratchet 3 plasma whip only playthrough! Though for ratchet 1 you can't get it until Pokitaru.
Funny enough there are boxes with ammo during the boss fight meaning you'd ve able to suck those up and use unless I am mistaken about the suck canon being able to suck boxes up and use as projectiles

I think I practiced off the ledge nearest to the landing zone on Umbris for about 30-45 minutes until I got to a point where I could cover the distance over the pit I ILJ'd over. Took plenty of tries to pull it off from that point too, so I want to say at least an hour of dedicated practice in total to get over just that one gap.
Ah bro! No! The run didn’t die on Umbris! Use the ghost ratchet trick by jumping in the mud & immediately using the swing shot, it unloads the collision.. then when you go up that large ladder that leads to the Sharkigator pools, - Hop to the left & jump THROUGH the wall.. you’ll land in a room with an empty pool & swingshot targets above it.. then all you need to do is, turn right, go up the ladder & jump to the left of the doorway.. there’s a pool of water, & a lack of a wall, that the developers forget to add.. from there you can swim in air.. swim all the way to the place where you eventually get the Quark spaceship… swim there, then dive & go up… ratchet will then start falling…. if you go into that room WHILE the snagglebeast is still alive, you’ll see the infobot is there, simply collect it… then reload your save, - you don’t need to even fight the boss at all.. -Fantastic video though dude subbed! 🔥

Constructive criticism: you've got a solid idea for a challenge, you speak clearly, your jokes and editing are perfectly fine, but the video quality is really holding you back. The resolution is too low, it's too dark and too small.

I will like any video about the actual original ratchet and clank game. Wish it had been an actual remaster of the original game
Is there any way to emulate this yet? I check in on it every year or two.
"Super easy, barely an inconvenience!"
Is that a reference to the Pitch Meetings series? :O
Nice, please more r&c challenges in the future
Didn’t you forget the gadgetron PDA to use the infinite side jump?
2:33 I recognize that top comment. Thanks Matt!
No problem :)
I forgive you for skipping the Oltanis planet because if i was you...
I'll be dead
I'm at the very first of the video and I doubt this is possible, mostly because of the bosses. Unless you find a glitch for infinite ammo, that is.
What's the debug code for ratchet and clank 1
more ratchet and clank videos plz i love these challenge videos
So the solution to the enemies on Novalis was just to do challenge mode and start with the suck cannon?
The blargian snagle beast is so easy to skip past though whaaat
Hey Matt Omega, do you know Ratchet and Clack 2 going commando? So you done this first game then you going to play second game? Yes or No?
Debug codes for the ps2 version ratchet 1??? Even Google doesn't give the know how other than the cheat codes a d emulator stuff
We need MORE
Try R&C3 with Succ Canon only, or 2/3 without strafing
How long did you practised for the ILJ? I tryed it and can't perform them.
What's your favorite planet from the first? Mine is Gemlik Base, the best "planet".
Only The RYNO!BREAK THE GAME,MATTOMEGA!🤣
10:26 I see what you did there xD
I swear you can suck up crates to shoot or am i misremembering this?
Do a rac 1 challenge use only the weapons unlocked on the specific planet
I really hate that Qwark skip was patched out of the PS3 version.
You werent okay with using ghost-ratchet on Umbris to jump through the door at the bossroom?
Why not get the Gold Suck cannon on Germlik Base? You can get it on your first playthrough, no challange mode needed.
Because I banned it
Ah bro! 🔥
Holy hell, I definitely need to try this!
@@matticusomega Ay, glad to help bro :)
Next run - can we beat ratchet and clank with just clank
And i always thought this weapon sucks!
but can you finish the game with only the taunter?
Seeing this game stretched hurt my heart.
wait a sec wheres hoven and that one lightnimg planet after quark fight? i guess those were no problem but you never mentioned them sooo...
Yeah, they ended up having nothing of real note, so I left them out
Gosto muito de passar horas assistindo teus vídeos, acredito que um dia seu canal irá crescer muito devido ao seu esforço e sua dedicação. Meus parabéns! Um salve do Brasil!
The crabs on orxon? those things are just awful
4:51 wouldn't you say it, sucks?
BUT!! Can you beat Up Your Arsenal with only the Suck Cannon? The ability to suck up boxes will probably make all the difference
Can You Suck Ratchet & Clank With Only The Beat Cannon?
Do flamethrower only run now!
Do a no damage run of this game.
Love anything RAC. So that's a sub from me brother
Your Videos are funny af for real
you mean the succ cannon?
Constructive criticism: you've got a solid idea for a challenge, you speak clearly, your jokes and editing are perfectly fine, but the video quality is really holding you back. The resolution is too low, it's too dark and too small.
Do you have the second Ratchet and Clank game?
Gamechamp's videos are great! Glad she got a shoutout at the end
I may be able to assist with this
So, no, four times over lmao
Fun video though!
Yeah I'm gonna be honest, I suck at this game.
Perfection
i love your videos
I didnt know you could play ratchet and clank 2 using my ex girlfriend
Hey! Make more videos please
wow, this challenge really sucks. heh.
Heh. Nice. B)
