Most people think an introvert is someone who is just painfully shy, doesn’t have strong opinions, insecure in who they are, and tend to be generally nervous. That’s NOT introversion! A preference for harmony, orderly quiet not crowded spaces, and a strong attraction to learning and discussion of the things that actually matter in life, that’s introverted!
Most of the points you made, I can somehow relate. Despite being a notoriously weird kid at school (not violence, just acting and thinking weirder than most), I got to find someone who I found interested in drawing. We keep exchanging notes and scrap papers full of drawings, and is close to being the way of our communication. And up to you, but it is the reason why I kept on engaging with offline classes than online.

I'm an introvert but my friend was an extrovert. He's always out of his home going to see someone or something, basically the opposite of me😂. Whenever I hang out with him , it's so awesome, because we are different, it's a really great experience, in the end we both had a lot of fun. I was into videogames while he was into outdoor sports 😂.most of the time he's outside. He only uses his home for sleeping😂. I wonder what he did in the pandemic.
I used to have a friend like that :') he was great because he helped me come out of my shell and have more self confidence. I would share projects I was working on and he was always interested, so it was a win-win. I think he spent the pandemic talking to people and trying to keep everyone happy, poor guy XD

This sounds exactly like me, I don’t hate socializing, I enjoy talking to people I consider friends, but I’m not someone who will go out to parties every chance I get. I recharge by watching hours of UA-cam and that’s more my cup of tea than partying all the time.
Very much an introvert. I have no issues talking with new people, but I definitely think small talk is boring. I love my alone time and as the crowd around me gets bigger the more I want to pull away. I most definitely have an inner monologue. I have conversations and debates within myself all the time. Family even tells me I'm very self aware.
Deep conversation are the best, even more when your brother is an introvert too. Also inner monologue are really useful, you can do simulations of the next things who will happens or just question about deep and interesting topics. Most of people's conversation are boring I mean don't care about what the friend of the friend of the sister of your cousins did yesterday 😂. For me small talk is the most annoying thing for an introvert.
@@karaka2253 Me and my sister skip the small talk every time we visit each other. It's always super deep and detailed on whatever topic we choose. I always love those conversations. I think that because small talk is not stimulating or has anything of value that we find it boring and kinda pointless.

I find people who really like what they do are way more interesting when they talk about their passion or hobbies or their goal in general cuz the conversation is not useless and it's a pure exchange of each viewpoint in a specific subject unlike most of the conversation of extroverts (no offense btw) who just talk about insignificant small thing. Also when i watch a show or play a videogame I can always see a message and learns from that instead of just consuming the thing. I always see a deep meaning anywhere, for example I learns the meaning of the quote : "The world is not all black or white" in videogame and animes, I could associate this value of "gray people" with the Yin-Yang and why there are not really good or bad side in most of the case. I don't really feel superior but most of normal people wouldn't see any connections and will just enjoy without asking any questions to themselves 😂.

Wow I can definitely relate with all of these!! I'm less shy nowadays, but I'm definitely still an introvert! Being a doctor requires me to be a really effective and empathetic communicator and it's taken years of practice - but when I come home after a long day, I feel absolutely drained! EDIT: I also just want to say that introverts are just as capable of being great doctors/clinicians as extroverts are! We're all special and talented in our own ways

I feel like introverts are often generalized as a bookworm or philosophical. I’m an introvert and that’s definitely not the case! There’s a reason why I’m a bio major and not a English major lol. I also rarely pick up books to read (other than textbooks). I do enjoy going out, but it’s not like I always feel drained afterwards. In contrast, I do enjoy hanging out with friends for the most part, but after some time I do feel the need to sit out and have some alone time. I’m usually good at getting along with new people, but not good at starting a long, lasting friendship with them, because of that, I only have a few very close friends. That doesn’t mean I find it hard to make friends with strangers though! It just means I don’t put as much time into socializing with these new friends/acquaintances of mine.
The thing with being an introvert isn't actually the fact that you can't make friends or socialize with others ,it is that you prefer staying alone and doing things you find entertaining.. Although yea there is possiblity that you will get adopted by an extrovert..

I hate extroverts for the fact that they don't understand how to give space to others and are always so self absorbed with just wat they want. I feel like introverts get a bad rap, like there’s something wrong with us for not constantly needing socialization or attention. When in reality, I think it’s the extroverts that basically suck. They have tons of friends but they’re usually very self-absorbed and uncaring. As I get older I realize I just don’t need that kind of negativity in my life. I may not have many friends but I truly appreciate the few I have.

🎶 Not shy, not me🎶 I find amusing that even when I say something "intense" people pay attention to me. It's funny how people tend to like me, I guess I'd have a lot of friends if I were extrovert, like my sister.
Funny, Every single sign of being an introvert instead of being shy I can relate to, I struggle with small talk, but when I do get into conversations they are long, deep, and drawn out. I hate being in large crowds of people for long periods of time, in fact, doing this at high enough volumes causes me to have an emotional kind of panic-attack, where all of my emotional control gets thrown out the window! I also struggle to find friends and struggle even more to keep them for longer periods of time. I like to stay home more than I do going out, but I still go out every now and then so I don’t become starved of social contact, and staying home alone is how I recharge my battery. Lastly I very easily get distracted, mainly from ADHD, but whenever I am alone usually around bedtime or when there is absolutely NO ONE HOME, not even my PARENTS, I let my imagination run wild, heck, I have created a fictional timeline of situations that come from only my own imagination that has so many characters and locations, they are all usually sci-fi, and I can turn basically anything that comes to my mind into a full fledged story that connects with the other things I came up with in some way and keep it up for potentially hours on end! Which I am proud of as I think that is a skill that I have, an endless imagination.
When I was a few years younger I never was this introverted... But also wasn't making the right friends... Now I hate being myself... I just have 3 or 4 people who get me... And I can't get along with people at all... I actually have started hating people and stick to my pets, family and just those 3/4 friends :')

I've come to understand myself as an introvert a lot better now. But it's rough because recently my social anxiety has doubled and it feels like I'm trapped in the belief that I have no friends. Don't give up, nothing will change if you don't go out there and do something about it.
I relate to all except 3. I don't philosophise, I just tend to think hard about stuff that isn't important. I struggle alot with small talk; idk how people do it! But still, it's not bad being introverted :)

@@bageller a trick i use is to just let the other person talk after you ask a simple question, that way i only have to answer to their question or just make them know i'm hearing, like saying “oh right, sure, mhh mhh, ah nice, ecc". People are so self absorbed that it works on almost everyone

I never understood why shyness is associated with introversion to begin with. Shyness is connected to being afraid of judgement by others, but self-actualisation through others is a characteristic of extroverts. Introverts get their self-actualisation through introspection and validating their behaviour against their own expectations, and consequently should be *less* susceptible to shyness or than extroverts.

I can relate so much with this. People always say that I'm very quiet & shy, but in reality its just that I'm more interested in my own thoughts rather than always listening to their convo. Then slowly those people start to avoid and stop makes any talks towards me. And sometimes I often ask my self that, is it me or them that the one who is really shy ?

I absolutely don’t like starting small talk. It’s the exact reason I don’t initiate calls or text people. And people get extremely upset at me from not keeping in contact. This is exactly what I tell them “To be fair I don’t call or text anyone so I’m not singling you out, I don’t even go out of my way to text or call my family” though I don’t really have any close relationship with any of my family so that may be why.
This was honestly one of the most wonderful videos I've seen from you so far. Loved the art style and the beautiful background music (would you mind telling me artist and title?? ♥). Also I now am more sure than ever that I'm really just an introvert. (gets back to writing and reading) The most wonderful thing is, my best friend is an introvert too (even though you really can't tell when we're together, for none of us, haha!) and when one of us visits the other over a long period of time, we both know the other person needs some alone time in the evening to recharge no matter how much we love each other. It's the most peaceful and amazing friendship thing I ever had the pleasure to experience. ♥
I actually thought I made progress as I previously tried to change for a long time. I still do most of what was described in your video, my imagination still runs wild (not necessarily a bad thing) starting conversations with people I work with feels awkward all the time so I just mostly just do it as professional as I can and sometimes I hear from other people that I can be a bit condescending. I don't have anyone now that I am comfortable sharing details about things I love and enjoy and I find this annoying. I still occasionally try to communicate, I usually have to make use of topics/jokes that I have observed to be working, making it awkward and all in all exhausting..

I always assumed I was an extrovert because when i was with those I was close too i would be energetic however apparently even my parents knew for the longest time I was an introvert and I never knew lol, but after seeing more of these videos, and observing things I do around and away from others i certainly see how I am more introverted than extraverted and I am not upset about it, it feels good to know a little more about myself especially with something like this lol
I recently started doubting that i'm an introvert because i've been enjoying being with my friends (they are alot) that i couldn't say were close to me before But since school started i realised that it isn't that i'm accepting people faster It's just that i got so comfortable with the friends that i mentioned (we've been classmates for 5 years now and most of us are like family now) And i'm so happy to have this many close friends that could even bring me out of my thoughts and make me talk with other people that i don't know

Oh gosh YES. I'm such an introvert and I honestly DO LOVE IT. There's something to be said about the way introverts have the power to recognize who are the right people to spend time with and truly, deeply connect with those few chosen. There's also something to be said about the beauty of true, deep, real connections. You know you've established a deep human connection with someone when you can just be yourself around them and never feel guilty, sad or sorry about it. Those kind of connections may be few in life, but they're priceless.
Being a introvert, is infact just a reason for being socially distant. I used to call myself a introvert but i realised it's just a excuse for not hanging out with my friends. These type of videos are essentially just guidelines for 'introverts'. You don't need guidelines for a personality. If you don't like hanging around people that's completely fine, just that it's becomes a problem when you begin justifying it by calling yourself a introvert.

Using the label as a justification for complete self-isolation can indeed be unhealthy, but that's not a problem with the label itself. That might be an issue of mis-labeling yourself while you're actually suffering from something like anxiety or depression.
In my case, I'm a shy introvert. I'm get nervous when I meet new people and become really awkward. Though, I do have one friend that is an extrovert! We clash almost perfectly since I'm an INFP-t and they're a ENFP-t! They have been my friend for 8 years and it has been awesome! These past few weeks have been a pretty bumpy ride for the both of us but we made up. I'm planning on asking to meet their friends since they're pretty sociable so I'm very excited ^^

Most people think an introvert is someone who is just painfully shy, doesn’t have strong opinions, insecure in who they are, and tend to be generally nervous. That’s NOT introversion! A preference for harmony, orderly quiet not crowded spaces, and a strong attraction to learning and discussion of the things that actually matter in life, that’s introverted!
Most of the points you made, I can somehow relate. Despite being a notoriously weird kid at school (not violence, just acting and thinking weirder than most), I got to find someone who I found interested in drawing. We keep exchanging notes and scrap papers full of drawings, and is close to being the way of our communication. And up to you, but it is the reason why I kept on engaging with offline classes than online.

I'm an introvert but my friend was an extrovert. He's always out of his home going to see someone or something, basically the opposite of me😂. Whenever I hang out with him , it's so awesome, because we are different, it's a really great experience, in the end we both had a lot of fun. I was into videogames while he was into outdoor sports 😂.most of the time he's outside. He only uses his home for sleeping😂. I wonder what he did in the pandemic.
I used to have a friend like that :') he was great because he helped me come out of my shell and have more self confidence. I would share projects I was working on and he was always interested, so it was a win-win. I think he spent the pandemic talking to people and trying to keep everyone happy, poor guy XD

Very much an introvert. I have no issues talking with new people, but I definitely think small talk is boring. I love my alone time and as the crowd around me gets bigger the more I want to pull away. I most definitely have an inner monologue. I have conversations and debates within myself all the time. Family even tells me I'm very self aware.

I think that because small talk is not stimulating or has anything of value that we find it boring and kinda pointless.

I find people who really like what they do are way more interesting when they talk about their passion or hobbies or their goal in general cuz the conversation is not useless and it's a pure exchange of each viewpoint in a specific subject unlike most of the conversation of extroverts (no offense btw) who just talk about insignificant small thing.
Also when i watch a show or play a videogame I can always see a message and learns from that instead of just consuming the thing.
I always see a deep meaning anywhere, for example I learns the meaning of the quote : "The world is not all black or white" in videogame and animes, I could associate this value of "gray people" with the Yin-Yang and why there are not really good or bad side in most of the case.
I don't really feel superior but most of normal people wouldn't see any connections and will just enjoy without asking any questions to themselves 😂.

Wow I can definitely relate with all of these!! I'm less shy nowadays, but I'm definitely still an introvert! Being a doctor requires me to be a really effective and empathetic communicator and it's taken years of practice - but when I come home after a long day, I feel absolutely drained!

I feel like introverts are often generalized as a bookworm or philosophical. I’m an introvert and that’s definitely not the case! There’s a reason why I’m a bio major and not a English major lol. I also rarely pick up books to read (other than textbooks). I do enjoy going out, but it’s not like I always feel drained afterwards. In contrast, I do enjoy hanging out with friends for the most part, but after some time I do feel the need to sit out and have some alone time. I’m usually good at getting along with new people, but not good at starting a long, lasting friendship with them, because of that, I only have a few very close friends. That doesn’t mean I find it hard to make friends with strangers though! It just means I don’t put as much time into socializing with these new friends/acquaintances of mine.
When it comes to books, I write and publish them. As an introvert, I play in my imagination all day long, and that's entertaining enough😂😇

Introvert is hard hard. People keep thinking im socially awkward, that im shy, and soft-hearted so they take advantage of me especially when i have social anxiety which makes it worse. I hate extroverts for the fact that they don't understand how to give space to others and are always so self absorbed with just wat they want. They start conversations and proceeds to ignore you when its not what they expected to answer.
I feel like introverts get a bad rap, like there’s something wrong with us for not constantly needing socialization or attention. When in reality, I think it’s the extroverts that basically suck. They have tons of friends but they’re usually very self-absorbed and uncaring. As I get older I realize I just don’t need that kind of negativity in my life. I may not have many friends but I truly appreciate the few I have.

I’m an introvert, but most of my close friends would see me as a shy or quiet person.
Funny, Every single sign of being an introvert instead of being shy I can relate to, I struggle with small talk, but when I do get into conversations they are long, deep, and drawn out. I hate being in large crowds of people for long periods of time, in fact, doing this at high enough volumes causes me to have an emotional kind of panic-attack, where all of my emotional control gets thrown out the window! I also struggle to find friends and struggle even more to keep them for longer periods of time. I like to stay home more than I do going out, but I still go out every now and then so I don’t become starved of social contact, and staying home alone is how I recharge my battery. Lastly I very easily get distracted, mainly from ADHD, but whenever I am alone usually around bedtime or when there is absolutely NO ONE HOME, not even my PARENTS, I let my imagination run wild, heck, I have created a fictional timeline of situations that come from only my own imagination that has so many characters and locations, they are all usually sci-fi, and I can turn basically anything that comes to my mind into a full fledged story that connects with the other things I came up with in some way and keep it up for potentially hours on end! Which I am proud of as I think that is a skill that I have, an endless imagination.
When I was a few years younger I never was this introverted... But also wasn't making the right friends... Now I hate being myself... I just have 3 or 4 people who get me... And I can't get along with people at all... I actually have started hating people and stick to my pets, family and just those 3/4 friends :')

I never understood why shyness is associated with introversion to begin with. Shyness is connected to being afraid of judgement by others, but self-actualisation through others is a characteristic of extroverts. Introverts get their self-actualisation through introspection and validating their behaviour against their own expectations, and consequently should be *less* susceptible to shyness or than extroverts.

I can relate so much with this. People always say that I'm very quiet & shy, but in reality its just that I'm more interested in my own thoughts rather than always listening to their convo. Then slowly those people start to avoid and stop makes any talks towards me.

All of these apply to me. I've always been an introvert so I hate it when my family, as much as I love them, say I should get out and socialise; it seems to be beyond their understanding that I enjoy being by myself. I find peace in that quiet. I can socialise if I have to but being in crowds becomes overwhelming and I need my alone time a lot. Thank you for summing up exactly how I feel and that it's normal. I absolutely don’t like starting small talk. It’s the exact reason I don’t initiate calls or text people. And people get extremely upset at me from not keeping in contact.
This is exactly what I tell them
“To be fair I don’t call or text anyone so I’m not singling you out, I don’t even go out of my way to text or call my family” though I don’t really have any close relationship with any of my family so that may be why.
As an Introvert its true that's it hard to find someone to connect to specially in school it's hard to get along w/ you're classmates😶

The most wonderful thing is, my best friend is an introvert too (even though you really can't tell when we're together, for none of us, haha!) and when one of us visits the other over a long period of time, we both know the other person needs some alone time in the evening to recharge no matter how much we love each other. It's the most peaceful and amazing friendship thing I ever had the pleasure to experience. ♥
I actually thought I made progress as I previously tried to change for a long time. I still do most of what was described in your video, my imagination still runs wild (not necessarily a bad thing) starting conversations with people I work with feels awkward all the time so I just mostly just do it as professional as I can and sometimes I hear from other people that I can be a bit condescending. I don't have anyone now that I am comfortable sharing details about things I love and enjoy and I find this annoying. I still occasionally try to communicate, I usually have to make use of topics/jokes that I have observed to be working, making it awkward and all in all exhausting..

I always assumed I was an extrovert because when i was with those I was close too i would be energetic however apparently even my parents knew for the longest time I was an introvert and I never knew lol, but after seeing more of these videos, and observing things I do around and away from others i certainly see how I am more introverted than extraverted and I am not upset about it, it feels good to know a little more about myself especially with something like this lol

I recently started doubting that i'm an introvert because i've been enjoying being with my friends (they are alot) that i couldn't say were close to me before
But since school started i realised that it isn't that i'm accepting people faster
It's just that i got so comfortable with the friends that i mentioned (we've been classmates for 5 years now and most of us are like family now)
And i'm so happy to have this many close friends that could even bring me out of my thoughts and make me talk with other people that i don't know
well, if it's your friends who brings other people to you instead of going by yourself, you are still an introvert :) introvert doesn't mean being anti-social.

Something about this channel that I love, is that the English is soooo easy to understand, me, someone who is learning English, even I’m advanced, is a little hard to understand what some people are saying, cuz they speak too fast or “eat many words”, but i can easily understand what these videos say! 💜

Oh gosh YES. I'm such an introvert and I honestly DO LOVE IT. There's something to be said about the way introverts have the power to recognize who are the right people to spend time with and truly, deeply connect with those few chosen. There's also something to be said about the beauty of true, deep, real connections. You know you've established a deep human connection with someone when you can just be yourself around them and never feel guilty, sad or sorry about it. Those kind of connections may be few in life, but they're priceless.
Being a introvert, is infact just a reason for being socially distant. I used to call myself a introvert but i realised it's just a excuse for not hanging out with my friends. These type of videos are essentially just guidelines for 'introverts'. You don't need guidelines for a personality. If you don't like hanging around people that's completely fine, just that it's becomes a problem when you begin justifying it by calling yourself a introvert.
and where do you see the problem by saying you are an introvert to your friends instead of saying i don't want to hang out ? the result stay the same, but atleast people get to know a trait of your personality a little bit better. The only problem would be to think that being socially distant IS a problem. i feel like your comment is aimed towards "stop trying to find some reason to relate to others, and build up your personality to be unique" but sadly, if we were unique, nobody would relate to anything, expect physically. every side of your personality is a gathering of several personalities around the world.

In my case, I'm a shy introvert. I'm get nervous when I meet new people and become really awkward. Though, I do have one friend that is an extrovert! We clash almost perfectly since I'm an INFP-t and they're a ENFP-t! They have been my friend for 8 years and it has been awesome! These past few weeks have been a pretty bumpy ride for the both of us but we made up. I'm planning on asking to meet their friends since they're pretty sociable so I'm very excited ^^
