I read in an article written by TopGear that electronic licenses can only be used if shown direct from the LTMS portal. Screenshots are not allowed. Hope the LTO can release an official statement on that soon.
Yes that's right. But here's the thing.. Anyone can easily install something in their phones browser that will MODIFY the page loaded from LTMS. I've already seen it done. A proof of concept that modifies what the LTMS shows in the phone browser. Even though the correct URL will show in the address bar, it will show as valid secure HTTPS etc. etc. They can make it show anything they want. It could be a fake license. It could be showing a license as valid, when it's actually suspended, or anything else you want it to show. That's why enforcers should NOT automatically trust what someone shows them. The enforcer must scan the secure QR code and verify it with their OWN device. If ALL enforcers are not equipped and trained to scan the QR code with their own device, the system could potentially be prone to major abuse.
I remember an incident here in Valenzuela where an off duty police officer was driving his motorcycle without a helmet who crashed to a lady who is walking in a pedestrian crossing, he was not driving that fast but when he crashed, he flew away from his motorcycle and hit his head in the pavement killing him , the lady only sustained minor bruises.
I fully support MMDA efforts on illegally parked cars. Just wondering why is it mostly in QC, like Maginhawa St and Commonwealth Ave. Hope you can visit Lawton Ave here in Taguig as its full of parked cars in the morning and 3-wheeled colorum vehicles obstructing traffic heavily. ✌️
There's already a proof of concept, I've seen it in action. You can open and login to the real LTMS portal, but it can show anything you want. A suspended license could be made to look active, or it can just show a completely fake license. That's why it's vital that all enforcers verify and validate what's shown to them, by scanning the QR code in LTMS, with their OWN DEVICE.
Please keep it up. Continue ridding the roads from these kamotes, reckless, undisciplined motorists. More power to all men of MMDA doing their job in putting order to a chaotic MM.
We seriously need to implement a demerit point system on the licenses. Egregious and multiple offenses accrued should incur revocation and ban from obtaining a license for a number of years. Also driving without a license should be a minor jailable offense, you're putting at risk hundreds of people when you're on the road.
The big problem is actually enforcing it. Look at what happened when LTO "suspended" those bus drivers that had hundreds of unpaid violations. They just continued to drive anyway. And when they show their license to an enforcer, NO ONE knows that it's suspended. That's going to be the big challenge with electronic licenses. If you don't give a way for EVERY enforcer, from the barangay, city, mmda, hpg, LTO, i-act etc etc, a way to VERIFY what they're being shown, they will be taken for a ride. It's very easy to install something on your phone that will modify what the LTO LTMS shows, and make it appear that you have a valid license when you don't. Or even show a completely fake license, even though the browser will say you're on the official HTTPS LTO website.
@@GadgetAddict Validation needs to be on the server side. Like scanning a QR code that will show the suspension status of the license and other information to the enforcer on his own device.

How does the demerits on the license work? Once it reaches or exceeds the maximum and you get apprehended, do they confiscate the license? Then if you get apprehended again and don't have a license, your vehicle gets impounded. There are a lot of instances that people would park/wait in a No Parking /Waiting zone (under the signs no less) and the BGC marshals cannot do anything about it because they have no authority to issue fines or tickets to the violators All they can do is to shoo the car and then it happens again. I'm certainly not a fan of confiscating the license. But I do understand why it's done, to force people to pay their penalties. That's why some cities enjoy a 95% and higher payment rate, compared to the awful payment stats on MMDA tickets. One thing MMDA could do to improve things, is to require ALL unpaid violations to be cleared, before releasing an impounded vehicle. Right now they only require the most recent ticket to be paid. When in fact the vehicle could have years of unpaid tickets tied to it.

For the privacy of the violators, or alleged violators. The purpose of the videos is to educate and inform. The penalty for those violators, comes from the MMDA, or whatever agency happens to be included in the video.
i just hope they increase the penalty for violations like illegal parking no helmet slippers so they dont do it. Also getting towed penalty should be increased too- worse car should be surrendered to gov. lol
A cheaper alternative is to give them two chances and the third strike results in the vehicle being crushed rather than impounded. I'm assuming the MMDA keeps a data log of the vehicles they stop and impound.
From your videos, it is obvious that MMDA provides a very important service to the streets of Metro Manila, it makes me wonder as to why some politicians like the recent once from Manila wants it abolish, my guess they might have offended him somehow, or he is a businessman with an ax to grind with the MMDA.
Yeah it's pretty common in provincial areas that are far from a proper gas station. But it's not so common to see inside Metro Manila. I doubt there are many places you could get away with doing this. Especially considering the laws and dangers about storing diesel or gasoline, transporting it, account for it etc. etc.
@@GadgetAddict Thats the piss-poor excuse that all "goodie-goodies" come out with! you are making MONEY from poor peoples woes and suffering! one day God will repay you for that. Always remember that.
Lots of people look similar to their family members, or even friends. People already borrow IDs when flying locally, and the same thing happens with drivers licenses. The biggest risk is if enforcers don't validate and verify what's shown to them, using their OWN device - through the QR that's built into the system.
Charge all the guy offences in his ticket, let him learn his offences.😂
may pambili ng motor, side mirror di makabili😂
@Gadget Addict i still get a good laugh every time you say that now becoming famous liner, accompanied by emotional content, "DIYAN LANG AKO GANG!"
Why do you blurred people faces ?
For the privacy of the violators, or alleged violators.
The purpose of the videos is to educate and inform.
The penalty for those violators, comes from the MMDA, or whatever agency happens to be included in the video.
Salamat Po !!!
Enforces actually only need to scan the QR Code of the EDL, it will direct it to a verification link from the LTMS Portal
That's the intention. Let's hope every enforcer is equipped with a suitable device and data connection, to validate and verify what's shown to them.
i just hope they increase the penalty for violations like illegal parking no helmet slippers so they dont do it. Also getting towed penalty should be increased too- worse car should be surrendered to gov. lol
Jail unlicenced drivers. They risk death (others or themselves) everytime they are out on the road. Deter errant "drivers" with jail time
A cheaper alternative is to give them two chances and the third strike results in the vehicle being crushed rather than impounded. I'm assuming the MMDA keeps a data log of the vehicles they stop and impound.
question. how many percent of motorcycle violators doesn't have license?
Hahaha! Pedestrian is different from from parking. Hahaha.😅
From your videos, it is obvious that MMDA provides a very important service to the streets of Metro Manila, it makes me wonder as to why some politicians like the recent once from Manila wants it abolish, my guess they might have offended him somehow, or he is a businessman with an ax to grind with the MMDA.
Why not increase those payment
Increase the Fine.
kaya nag counter flow eh, walang kasing license...
If no license or cr.... why not wear helmet and wear shoes so MMDA cant stop you? Right?
Bong rules
I love those people who sell soft drink bottle filled with gas. I ran out of gas during a long trip. Luckily, a nearby store has some.
Yeah it's pretty common in provincial areas that are far from a proper gas station.
But it's not so common to see inside Metro Manila.
I doubt there are many places you could get away with doing this. Especially considering the laws and dangers about storing diesel or gasoline, transporting it, account for it etc. etc.
@@GadgetAddict Yeah. It was on the route to Infanta/Real.
You have no right to tell people what they should do! this is NOT your country!
It's the law that tells them what to do, not me.
That's what they agreed to obey, when applying for a drivers license.
@@GadgetAddict Thats the piss-poor excuse that all "goodie-goodies" come out with! you are making MONEY from poor peoples woes and suffering! one day God will repay you for that. Always remember that.
Electronic license have picture name and birthday they can verify if it is you.
Lots of people look similar to their family members, or even friends.
People already borrow IDs when flying locally, and the same thing happens with drivers licenses.
So I won't be surprised if electronic licenses will also be shared.
But for me, that's not the biggest risk of electronic licenses.
The biggest risk is if enforcers don't validate and verify what's shown to them, using their OWN device - through the QR that's built into the system.
Because I've already seen a proof of concept that can modify what the LTMS portal shows on a phone. It can make a suspended license look valid, it can show a fake license, or whatever else you want.
And it will really be the real LTMS website, the correct URL, valid SSL, valid login etc etc. It just changes what's actually shown on the page.
You ask, what are they thinking, they don’t. These people are thick! They are best at giving excuses and always have a reason for anything. Whoever conceit he idea of an electronic license is a nitwit. Someone, guaranteed, will come up with an idea to generate a scam as these people will always go for easy and illicit, then go through the process .
I've already seen a proof of concept that can modify what's shown from LTO LTMS on a cellphone browser.
That's why it's vital that all enforcers are equipped with a device that can scan and validate the QR code shown in LTMS, and not blindly trust what's shown to them.
Because even if you see it's the correct URL, with a valid SSL certificate and you watch them login, it's still possible to modify what's actually shown on the page.
That means they can show a fake license, make a suspended license look active, or whatever else they want.
It's no problem if every enforcer in the country is equipped with a way to validate what's shown to them, but if not... 🤷
Hanggang ngayon di na natuto.
If they just include imprisonment for these types of violations then maybe they will follow. Imagine how wreckless bringing a child without a helmet.
It was easier to get a license before compare to today, not sure why people choose not to alot 1 day getting their DL before. XD
Good day .
No License for Drivers...duh?!!
LTO should increase the PENALTY for minor offense. I say minimum of 10k or 15k.
Thank you for keeping us informed on topics like this. Keep up the good work.
😂😂😂😂😂
Although some riders claim they "borrowed" the bike, many of them later admit that it's really theirs - especially when they want to know how to get it back from the impound.
whatta pain in the ass to impound all of these bikes
average bbm voters
How sure are you they voted for bbm?
@@TheBlueFernando they share the same bad habits as these violators: undisciplined and lacking common sense thereof.
