Hello all, my name is Sumeran Govender. I am from Durban, South Africa.
Durban, a coastal city on the east coast of South Africa, is known for its African, Indian and colonial influences.
Durban is the third biggest city in South Africa by population and is situated in the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Fun fact……. Durban has the largest Indian population outside of India. Indentured labourers were once brought to Durban to work in the sugarcane fields. We are now a part of Durban’s culture, adding a twist to everything from local fashion to food flavours.
I started this channel in November 2022. Follow me for camping adventures where I will be exploring my city and trying to see if I can manage to keep myself fed with various recipes that I will try in each video.

Sumeran, I was born and brought up in KZN and moved to the Western Cape 24 years. A Braai is like a religion here. A braai happens every weekend here. That is what we eat, curries sometimes.
Hi Nelson wow you telling me that is actually making me feel for a braai now
A tip to make your braai stand to last longer, put aluminum foil on braai stand then put the coals over that, after braai you just remove foil, Less clean up 👍 Yummy braai👌

Great braai but don't put your meat in a plastic container after breaking because the meat is hot it tends to burn the container mixing the meat n plastic
I did not know that, thanks for informing me 👌

Hello, this was at Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve in Yellowwood park.

Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve
@@SumeranGovender thanks my man. So people are allowed to braai there? I've been looking for parks where you are allowed to braai. Can't find any 😔
@@bensenzo yeah you can braai there. They even have a braai area that I showed in the video
@@SumeranGovender thanks man. When you have time can you please do a video about "places around Durban where you can braai at" or something like that?
You will help a lot of people out because a lot of people don't know many places they can have a braai outside or are allowed to braai. And from your videos, you seem to know a lot of these places😅😅
A proper South African braai doesn't use charcoal.
Only wood, rooikrans preferable.
A good lamb chop only requires salt.
Thats according to u...however tastebuds dont have common parents
@@Randy7201 Are you a Saffer?

True blooded to the core pure green and gold nothing will take that away ever
@@Randy7201 Excellent.
I like my meat normally just with salt.
Now and then my wife will make a nice sousie/marinade for the chops. Chicken we par cook and soak in marinade.
Fish, garlic butter.
Pork chops, crumbed in the electric frying pan.
Basic and simple.
Steak I do on the cast iron skit with salt. Burn that salt in nicely.
Oh my goodness, now I feel like a braai. LOL.
@OBCBTTB
I do a sea salt and plain pepper rub on my steak. I let it rest at room temperature for about 2hrs, let that salt soak in lekker then on the braai 7 minutes either side if i am doing a proper rump, let that flame kiss the steak to a lovely singe..remove, let it rest and slice...then i gooi some delicious dry braai spice on the side for whoever wants theirs done according to their taste....wors ou maat, gooi it on the flame when ur coals are spierwit as well...let that flame kiss the wors, go 4 min either side let that fire singe the casing..then remove, gooi ur grill and let it soak in the low heat..chops u right, sea salt as a base, I like a dry rub with Worcester sauce, lemon juice and biltong spice..a South African braai is unique, forget that barbeque business we do things our way..
