you know how much it really means when you get this award after not being on screen for 20 years.
Closer to 20 isn’t it?
20? Almost 40
@@franciscoguerrero4564 And you don't have one, let him celebrate you annoying child.
@@franciscoguerrero4564 I respect your opinion that Oscars are not everything but they are something even at my part of world and even when we are aware that they are American. Still, winning it, I think is something not normal but keeps one moving. And ke will surely do great work in future too.
@@franciscoguerrero4564 In order for him to get back to work, decision makers have to make roles for him and hire him. He was actively looking for work as a young adult, but there was simply very few call backs for Asian-American actors. From 1992 to 2002, he was only able to get three roles. The last two were in Hong Kong-produced films. Fortunately since his return to acting, he will be appearing to two television series: _American Born Chinese_ and _Loki_ . He will also appear in an upcoming film in 2024, _The Electric State_ .
His line "please keep your dreams alive" was so inspiring to me that I sat down the very next day and started my long planned screenplay. Now, it's July and I've finished two entire screenplays with the next projects in line - and all of this only because of his line. His oscar win didn't just change his life, it also changed mine!
Thats amazing Patrick. I wish you much success and hope to one day see your screenplay come to life
@@martaberk9615 This would be a dream and I'll work to bring them to life. Thank you for your kind words!
Please, cast me! I want to act and give life to one of your characters! Wish you the best!
That's amazing! Follow your dreams and never give up!
@@arturoaguilar_ As a writer I've not to much of an influence of that decision, but as a director maybe more :) But please, do not give up on your dream either!
Ariana DeBose's reaction brought me to tears. You knew she wanted Ke Huy Quan to win.
This time it wasn't just Jamie Lee who was all of us. 😭
She was the first Afro-Latina and queer woman to win an acting Oscar so I would imagine she was honored to award another fellow actor their historical moment.
The way she calls out his name gets me every time. 🥺🥺
I hope he got some..
@@putinscat1208 He probably did, from his wife.
Ariana DeBose is a lesbian, so... probably not from her.
I'm sure his 84 year old mother was the happiest and the proudest seeing her son winning an Oscar. So beautiful.❤️
She must have been
she probably is disappointed he only won best supporting actor and not best actor. she's an asian mom after all.
@@keypeng4164 XD XD🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
She disappointed because he is not awarded as best surgeon.
She knew it all along. He truly is special.
I love how the crowd got louder and louder. It was the longest standing ovation of the night I think.
Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan got the longest standing ovation and applause.
Everyone’s, rightfully, talking about Brendan Fraser’s major comeback, but Ke Huy Quan’s is equally amazing
He hasn’t acted in anything in years, and when he returns, he gives a phenomenal performance and rightfully wins an Oscar for it
Its the algorithm bro, stuff like this was never on homepage I had to search for it
fking W and its not like he didnt want to act anymore lmao its just that there was any role for him like he said
He's awesome in Loki season 2
Ke Huy Quan is one of the most deserving winners in this category. Waymond's character reflects everything the film wants to convey: empathy, being kind to everyone and compassion.
And he also gave us the most touching sentence of 2022: "In Another Life, I Would Have Really Liked Just Doing Laundry and Taxes With You"
True! My favorite performance in EEAAO!
I think that's why he was casted. You can't fake that kind of unconditional love and kindness
The sentence that felt the most profound to me was when Waymond (in the suit) was explaining why he looked at everything positively: "This is how I fight".
Even in the pure acting sense, he perfectly portrayed multiple characters of drastically different ranges (the alpha/Kung-fu Waymond, the cool/suave business Waymond, the empathatic/caring husband Waymond...etc.) all in ONE movie.
It made me cry i love that movie
Let's be real, between Ke Huy Kwan and Brenden Fraser, we all cried that night. Best comebacks in a very long time, and SO well-deserved.
And Michelle Yeoh too
I was rooting for them both. When both on I yelled and screamed with joy. Both seem so down to earth and would be happy to chit chat of we met them.
Best Oscars in a long time. Hopefully Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy finally get their due on Sunday.
@@zanfear and they both did
Way better than this years Oscars imo
This is very moving, because after Indiana Jones and other projects, everyone abandoned him and after a long time he finally got what he deserved, recognition thanks to Everything everywhere all at once, Ke Huy Quan gave us a great comeback to his career.
A great Ke Huy Quan :D
He did work until about 2002. Not like with Temple of Doom and Goonies, but he was working. There are many child stars that vanish or OD on drugs.
@@putinscat1208 but showbiz kids is harder
@@lexkanyima2195 Look at his buddy Corey Feldman. All the kids from Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts of Life, etc. Ron Howard and Jodie Foster made it. Who else?
Oh my God! I didn't realize it was, "Mr. Jones!" Wow! That's so cool. That made me smile.
It would have been nice if he had won for a good film."Everything everywhere all at once" is a shit.
Ke came back after 20 years, delivered one of the best performances in recent history, and won an Oscar for it alongside Brendan Fraser and in front of Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford. Can't get more perfect than that.
Agreed
You know this is the best Oscars edition when there's no beef between the nominees but pure solidarity and compassion.
Kevin Hart made a rude remark about a medical condition.
My best friend’s husband also has the condition.

i'm not a crier in any sense, i barely cry over anything, but as i was watching this moment live with my friend we both immediately broke out in tears. it honestly shocked me how much i was sobbing during ke huy quan's speech. this movie means so much to me as a fellow asian-american, and i am so incredibly happy that ke is getting the recognition he so rightfully deserves ❤
Although I am not an Asian-American, it also touched me. I think we all hold a soft spot in out heart for him as that sweet kid in the films of my generation. But to now see him get recognition for such an amazing performance (and to Asian artists getting recognition FINALLY) is such an emotional experience.
Me too, I cried watching his speech.
2:16 You can tell how Steven Spielberg looks so proud of Quan 😊
LOVE that Spielberg looks so proud!!
The way his wife looks at him you can see how much she knew he wanted that, amazing moment
And Harrison Ford
@@Ughstopped right? Let's not forget that Willie was there too!
I love how her voice broke as announcing his name....I was crying along with everyone at this! Ke is adorably amazing, and his win is so deserved!!! I shed tears of joy every time I watch this!!🎉❤🤤
Ariana's voice cracking, because she wanted to happy-cry, was PRECIOUS!!! I LOVED her hosting the Tonys last year!!!
I love how Michelle Yeoh is the last one sitting still clapping for Ke Huy Quan 🥰🥰
I love how Jamie Lee is also still standing whooing him.
I just bawled like a baby. He is so sweet protect him at all costs!!!!
OMG he really is! He gets put in that soft spot of my heart that is reserved for people like Betty White and Dolly Parton. Just pure goodness.
Same
He is a grown ass man, you can't even protect yourself
You need hot worry about his protection............for he has "Indiana Jones' and "The Berg" to protect him!!! (Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg).
dj5hb1my5x 😅😅😅😅
The fact that Harrison Ford, Kate Capshaw and Steven Spielberg were ALL THERE to see this moment happen is everything!!!
"Mom, I just won an Oscar." and I'm crying.
You couldn't write a better script like this year's Oscars stories. The great comebacks from Ke and Fraser. The reunion of Harrison Ford and Ke on stage with some shots of Spielberg. The acting winners with the great speeches. The wacky and absurdly beautiful best picture winner. But most of all, Ke Huy Quan really deserves the Oscar. He was fantastic in the movie. Maybe because he is just similar to his character in the movie.
Waymond was such a heartbreaking character... Someone who loves his family so much and is ready to let his wife go if it meant she would be happy... Ke really gave such a wonderful performance... He was believable, he was funny, he was able to show all the emotion from sadness through rage to pure happiness... Really a great actor! I loved him in Indiana Jones and The Goonies... His return was long overdue!
I nearly cried when Ke Huy Quan won the Oscar
You're not the only one. It's a 100% emotional comeback
I cried 😢
“Keep your dreams alive.”
Right on. I agree 100%.
In January, I got hired by a place I’ve wanted to work all my life.
I’m damn proud myself. ❤️
For those who doubt yourself; it’s okay to do so, but KNOW that you are worth it. You can do it. You’ve got this. ❤️👏🏼
Congratulations on getting your dream job!! 😊
The lady breaking up when she announced his name really got me crying. So many people supported him on this. He seems like such a nice man. Im glad I was able to go on so many adventures with him when I was young.
Ke Huy Quan and Brendan Fraser are both comebacks that are rightfully rewarded after everything
Now it's time for them to make another movie together :D
Ke Huy Quan and Brendan Fraser: two of the best comeback stories in history.
🙌🏼💯❤️
I still cry watching this. Ke Huy Quan was almost a "has been" and peaked as a child with "Temple of Doom" and "Goonies". But to see him not giving up on his acting dreams as an adult and be awarded this prestigious honor is so inspiring. I'm so happy for him. Don't give up on your dreams.
I've watched this acceptance speech so many times, and each and every time, it still brings me to tears. Congratulations! Well deserved! I hope everyone gets their moment of a lifetime! This is what dreams are made of! ❤ 🌟
We all felt his joy in his speech...and it was all genuine from his heart. ❤
This Oscar had something that was missing from the previous ones. A soul.
Congrats KE HUY QUAN! He has the Golden Globe Award, Critics' Choice Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, Independent Spirit Award, and now the Oscar/Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role! I can't wait to watch him this year on his next two projects: (1) Disney's television adaptation of American Born Chinese (which will reunite him with his EEAAO stars Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu, and James Hong and will star Ben Wang from Disney's Chang Can Dunk); and (2) Marvel Studios' Loki season 2 with Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jonathan Majors, Sophie DiMartino, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, and Tara Strong!
He won 63 awards in the last season

“In another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you.” - a line for the ages ❤
Ariana DeBoise should win for best Oscar announcement. The way she couldn't even contain herself when saying Key's name was touching.
The fact that he thanked Chunk (Jeff Cohen) in his speech is everything to me. Goonies for life!
2:14 the director's eye for talent ❤
True
Him, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Drew Barrymore, Sean Astin, Christian Bale... The list of great actors who started with Spielberg is monumental.
What an emotional speech! Ke Huy Quan almost swept the award season and he won the Academy Award undoubtedly. His story is so inspiring and I'm so glad for his comeback!
I love how she teamed up when she read it I think I cried 🥹 this is so wholesome 💗
Same 😢😢
Such a magical moment. My best friend and I were watching the Oscars and we were predicting EEAAO to sweep, but thought it wouldn’t happen because of the politics of these award shoes. The Oscars opening with Best Supporting Actor was the beginning of one the most memorable nights in a while. I’ve been addicted to the Son Lux soundtrack for EEAAO and when they read Ke’s name and the music from “In Another Life” started playing, my best friend and I started pouring tears. What a story for Ke Huy Quan and what a performance in EEAAO, role of a lifetime. He was the only person who could have truly done justice for that role and he knocked it out of the park
What is ironic is that after the Oscars, I read comments from people who were trashing EEAO claiming that the only reason EEAAO sweeped the Oscars was "because" of politics. Some folks couldn't see past the ethnicity of the actors and couldn't comprehend that it won awards because it was a great movie that had little to nothing to do with politics & ethnicity.
Everyone complains about a lack of originality in movies these days.
This movie s about as original as it gets. Loved it.
How can you not like a movie with hotdog hands and Jamie Lee Curtis being taken out by James Hong and his high speed wheel chair? Lol
It's a wonderful and weird movie with a great message.
All three of you nailed it! He's a delight in "American Born Chinese", too.
Ke Huy Quan and Michelle Yeoh together in that movie had some of the most soulful performances in a movie I've seen in a long time. They complemented each other so beautifully, I was absolutely floored. Don't know how the directors managed to capture yin/yang so well in a movie down to the main couple but my god, they did.
"The Only Thing I Do Know Is That We Have To Be Kind. Please, Be Kind. Especially When We Don't Know What's Going On." Waymond Wang ❤

Congratulations to Ke Huy Quan 🎉
This speech. I say it to myself everyday in this dark horrible world. Kindness and empathy are everything. ❤
I remembered him from "The Goonies" as the science kid. But I am so happy Ke Huy Quan won his Oscar for playing a truly empathetic character who believes in kindness and compassion. I hope him saying "please keep your dreams alive" inspires many people to always keep going.
Watched him in Loki. I say that he really deserved this award. His acting is something else.
I hope he gets more roles in the future ❤️
Ke Huy Quan created an impressive and enduring performance as Short Round. Having the chance of winning an Oscar was a deserving moment in his life.
He deserves everything I can't emphasize it enough..😭
Congratulations.. it's been a month since Ke Huy Quan won.. still I'm happy every time I see a video he won the Oscars Best Supporting Actor.. welcome back to showbiz Ke Huy Quan.. can't wait his next projects to come
His performance was incredible, his acting chops were great as a kid, i mean he was a standout, so not acting in two decades, then having one of the best movies I've seen in years, one that i can watch over and over (that's rare for me, as im super picky with my time) is so satisfying to see Ke being honored like this, he was a part of a generation for us growing up, and even Steven Spielberg's movie about himself couldn't bring Steven to be so happy about this, he was glowing, like the first dsy he discovered Ke when his brother went to audition, and he said is that yiur little brother? Ke stumbled into his career by luck, and history was made, he is so humble it spills over the screen
I love how proud Spielberg looked, seeing this man who he'd worked with as a little boy getting this award.
I met Ke Huy Quan months before this and after talking with him was inspired to finally pursue my childhood dreams of acting (even part time) after choosing a more safe career path for myself and my young family (because I had to then without much money). Since then, I was in Captain America, Sesame Street, and had lead/principal roles in commercials. This experienced changed his life and inspired me to change mine.
What a beautiful story! Congratulations! Ke is truly someone special and we most definitely need more people like him in this world! I wish you the best in all of your future endeavors!
@@WaywardFanboy thanks!
Every actor that ever wins an Oscar needs to watch this to truly appreciate what they have the honor of winning. Key earned this win but he won all our hearts with this moment.
Very well deserved. Ke Huy Quan was brilliant in Everything Everywhere all at Once. When he won the Golden Globe back in January I found out he played both Short Round from Indiana Jones and Data from The Goonies, and then to get to hear his story on the Actors Roundtable about his Return to Acting was just inspiring. After that I watched the movie and he was brilliant in it, the way he played three different versions of his character was terrific, he truly deserved the Oscar.
I can’t be the only one to come back to this after RDJ’s behaviour at the Oscars this year
I’m just going to note what Mark Hamill wrote, when Ke reunited with Harrison Ford after EEAAO won Best Picture, it sure brings an emotional response.
I have so much love for Jamie Lee Curtis and the whole crew of EEAAO. You can tell that every single one of them put everything into the film and it shows. I love seeing each of them going up to take the earned rewards and having their crew cheer them on like it was their own reward. This was the best Oscars I have witnessed since 2016. Everyone got what they rightfully deserved. The only controversy I saw was people saying Austin Butler should have won. He gave a phenomenal performance but Brenand Fraser was his film. He spend every second on that screen giving his absolute best and it showed. My respect to Austin Butler and I am sure if he keeps doing what he is doing he will get his reward.
I just wanted to throw my arms around him. Congratulations, Ke Huy Quan. You deserved it.
man watching humble people succeed is one of the best things ever
I love RDJ but this man deserved more respect on stage
So true!! The way he treated him on stage, completely ignored him is unacceptable
So deserved, one of the greatest Oscar moments in history.
RDJ made me wanna come back here
I don't know how many people here noticed , several people became emotional to see him winning...such a well deserved win ... 💜 Ariana debose is such a sweetheart ❤
1:35 he was already crying by the nomination
No matter how many times I saw this in cuts and flashbacks before coming to the actual channel I am STILL tearing up. Good on him and damn I'm happy for it.
After listening to him on the awards chatter podcast the weight of him talking about not getting any jobs and not acting for 20 years and his first big role back after 20 years made him an Academy Award winner is just so much more impactful when you hear how tough it was for him and the business practically shutting him out it is truly a beautiful thing to watch him finally get the respect he deserved
I wish they'd included the original montages for the performances - i loved seeing those
They can'd due to copyright issues, that's why all the uploads on the Oscar's channel don't include the clips
The presenters broke ground last year and it continued this year. You can feel that energy!!
i still cry at this video, hes so adorable 😭😭
This was one of the greatest moments (if not the greatest) in Academy Award History that should be preserved for years to come!
Erm, I’ll argue for Branko Lustig’s speech in 1994 for “Schindler’s List,’ and….
The part of James Cameron’s speech in 1998, ‘….while it’s great that this film has won so many accolades, let’s remember those who died that night,’ and asked for a minute of silence.
And today, one of the bests support actors in MCU
Such an authentic and emotional speech. He just talked out of his heart. Very very beautiful.
What a great comeback story. Ke deserve this award. After 40 years, he finally get to be up on Hollywood biggest stage. Something I dream of but will never happen.
Ke Huy Quan did great! Love that we got to see the reactions of his main Indiana Jones cast members. You can see Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw clapping and crying here, and then Harrison gives him a hug later on. I love how they're all so clearly happy and proud of him.
The greatest comeback in Cinema history.
Happy tears. I could not stop crying. Ke Huy Quan is such a beautiful talented soul. I wish him continued success.!!
I’m so happy that his mother was alive to see Ke win his Oscar.
Truly one of the best oscar moments of all time. Ke Huy Quan and Olivia Colman my two favorite oscar speeches ever.
Looking Ke Huy Quan talking like this more than make me cry I believe that we have to fight for our dreams no matter what, some day everyone will see our greatness.
1:37 look at his face, look at it ! He was so happy just to see his name up there, it was already an accomplishment for him. And he actually won !
Quan is such a great guy and has been through so much in his career that it's really cool to see him win the Oscar
everyone is just so happy for him!!! you can feel the love.
Here to see the difference between an amazing actor and RDJ
the only video that has ever mattered.
That standing ovation and applause was incredible. The love and support everyone showed him was so well deserved
this is what the oscars should be about, easily the best show in years, i hope they take note.
I finally got around to seeing EEAAO yesterday and you know what? They got it right. His moment at the end had me all verklempt.
I’m still amazed after watching a movie reaction in another video how his one line utterly destroyed everyone watching. You know the one
it heals my soul knowing he was finally recognized truly for his work.
the only oscar that will ever make me cry
i literally couldn´t stop smiling when he won.
It passes me off how many years we were robbed of him. He was always electric and a star! This makes me cry so much but I'm so happy to see him again.
This man had me in tears….this goes to show that you don’t have to sell your soul to become a recipient of such an honor. He worked hard and remained in the industry staying more towards the backend of things. He deserved this more than any of the other nominees and never gave up and he kept striving harder and harder and his hard work paid off tremendously for him. It’s good to know that his mom has finally got the opportunity to see with her own eyes her son’s accomplishments ❤
4:43 This moment is pure gold - goosebumps.
He deserves the world, thank you so much for coming back to acting Ke Huy Quan
I’m crying. Love this for him! He deserves it!
This speech made me cry. What a legend!
I remember having so much and at the same time, crying a lot when I saw Everything Everywhere All at once, this film is a sort of rollercoaster of feelings, which keeps me hooked on the movie all the time. So, if I had Ke Huy Quan face to face, I'd tell him; "Thank you for making everybody's childhood"😢
I am crying cuz i remember watching Goonies and he was my favorite actor. Im so glad hes back. He is awesome!
Seeing that little kid from Indiana Jones was in EEAAO was a big reason I went to go see the film in theaters and I’m so glad as I did as I am glad to see Ke Huy Quan win an Oscar
I rewatch this every now and then just to remind myself what a kind soul Ke is
This guy is a living, walking, breathing W. This is who we should be aspired to be. This is the role model for a good man.
This is beautiful! I wept tears of joy for him. He made us all proud. He truly is living the American Dream and his hard work is shown to have paid off.
I know this is so late but seeing Spielberg clapping along made me tear up more than the initial crowd. He started his film career and was there when it hit its peak.
At first I was hoping Brendan Gleason since he’s had a long, unnoticed career but Ke’s story he said in his speech makes this a deserved win
Starting with Short Round, then Data, then nothing major for so many years. He comes back after all this time and wins an Oscar? What a story
But Brendan didn't deserve it. And Ke has been working longer. Brenden was in his 30s before he started making movies. Ke played multiple versions of the same guy and jumped around like Jackie Chan.
@@putinscat1208 all I said was I hoped it would be Brendan when Ke’s name was called I was happy for him and understandable why he won. However, I hated Everything Everywhere All at Once
