Six films and 20 years under Nolan, Cillian Murphy has earned this moment!!!
Christopher Nolan was like Cillian i have roll for you here is a hat a cigarette
Cillian: im in 👨🔬💣🇯🇵
everyone forgets about red eye!!! watch it!!

@@NoticerOfficial Actually, Cillian auditioned to be Batman before Nolan gave him the role of Crane/Scarecrow. You can see Cillian in the suit. Footage is online.
Now that's how you do it. Cillian was the only one of the winning actors that night that greeted all 5 past winners on the stage, shaking their hands. Such a humble man he is.
He’s so humble and so genuine and so talented. He’s not American, soo no surprise. We kinda suck lol

I believe he would have rather spent time talking with each of those prior winners than to give a speech.

Minus Fraser. He likes plenty of (free) drinks while he's talking your ear off.
very classy to have previous winners give out the award.
Especially Ben Kingsley introducing Murphy.
I really love how they compliment them individually. You can see how much it means to the nominees. It’s a great idea to do it that way…👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I like this format
Love that! Hope it continues!
@@cleverusername9369yeah they used this presenting style in previous years, I remember they did it the year Heath Ledger won
Being introduced by Ben Kingsley, who played as Gandhi, has to be an amazing honor.
A beautiful irony of sorts, an actor who played a man most know for peace, introducing an actor portraying a man who gave humanity its greatest tool for destruction.
@@nelsonhunter-valls3206 Alfred Nobel invented dynamite
The theme of any Oscar broadcast is “show business people slobbering over each other telling themselves how wonderful they are” but Kingsley congratulating Murphy for his “courage” in agreeing to star in Oppenheimer before reading the script was a new low. Murphy reported got paid $10 million for the role. How much courage does it take to accept more money than 99.9% of the people in the world are going to make in their lifetimes?
Stephen Baldwin took Ben Kingsley to acting school

Happy he won. He didn’t just play Oppenheimer. He was Oppenheimer.
I feel the same way about how well he brought Tommy Shelby to life in Peaky Blinders. He didn’t just play Tommy, he was Tommy. No one else would ever have been better at that role. He has such an amazing way to almost effortlessly morph into his characters. Truly a natural at acting.
As a student of theoretical physics, I am happy that Oppenheimer is getting the recognition to common people outside the world of Physics. No point of blaming him for today. He could see it coming - he only did his duty.
Absolutely. Completely disappeared into the role.
True. Much like Val Kilmer in The Doors playing Jim Morrison. He was Jim.
He’s Oppenheimer?! GET HIM!
This award was won By Order of the Peaky Blinders
Congratulations Cillian Murphy
😂😂😂
❤ he was ROBBED by the Emmys for that performance!!

Love how he took his time to shake all their hands before his speech. Always feels like he’s the quintessential team player.
Very contrast to RDJ ignoring Ke
Probably wasn’t worried about time constraints. He won the top Oscar, he simply gets more time for his speech.
@@shermanator9283 Probably? Maybe? No, Cillian's just a gentleman and a class act. Still kept his speech shorter than RDJ.
He was the only one of the four acting winners to do that. I think Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Robert Downey Jr were both a bit overwhelmed and Emma Stone had a wardrobe malfunction.
Its how peaker blinders do it😊
What I love about Cillian is he is so shy. He hates the spotlight yet loves what he does. He puts his whole being into everything he works on and it shows. Yet he is incredibly humble.
He’s so enigmatic. You watch, he will disappear back to Ireland and we won’t hear from him for 6-7 months. He’s so incredibly private and puts family first. Talented but your classic textbook introvert who just loves acting.
I like that he was so humble on stage, what a very fine actor, and I love that he spoke the couple of words I Irish to finish.
He was damn good in Peaky Blinders and Inception as well but Oppenheimer is his best work by far.
@@alyssa0411I agree with your sentiment. However, one can not be enigmatic and textbook. Although his affect is common among very introverted people, I would argue that his type of introversion is rather rare, but perhaps not as rare among the great people we often celebrate. It takes an impressive mind to play an impressive mind. You can see it as much in Batman Begins as you can with Oppenhiemer.
Private and shy are two very different things. He is a private individual. He isn't shy. He's a full range actor.
Cillian Murphy's performance in Oppenheimer was incredible and masterful. I'm so glad that he won.
Same and yes he was great
Me too
He was phenomenal ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nic Cage was somehow both flattering and hilarious. This is how all nominees should be honored at the Oscar’s from now on.
The only way I’d watch the Oscar’s is if he hosted
People don’t give Nic Cage enough credit. He often plays caricatures but he is a genuinely good actor and he is genuinely funny.
@@Mfdoorwayyeah, he’s a fucking good actor. My fav role of his is Roy in Matchstick Men. He Should have won the best actor Oscar for that movie alone, for goddamn sure.
Cillian Murphy is so humble. You could tell he doesn't do movies for money, fame or awards. He does it because he loves acting.
Yeah I'm sure he does them for free 🤣🤣🤣. ... Yeah no lol

You guys are forgetting about the “red eye” he took to get to this stage.
At the end, CM says “Go raibh mile maith agat", means Thank You in Irish. Must have especially pleased his father who taught Irish. Love this brilliant actor!
He actually just said go raibh maith agaibh. It’s plural.
Thank you for this I watched it over and over again but couldn’t understand what he said there at the end!

It would have been a crime had this award gone to anybody else. Congratulations to Cillian Murphy!
No not really, congratulate him and go. There were phenomenal nominees who were just as deserving. Bye!

TBH this group minus Bradley Cooper was so good that anyone of them could've won
Yes. His acting was riveting.
If Peaky Blinders was allowed to be nominated for an Oscar this man would have won a couple a long time ago
So so true! He was beyond brilliant in that incredible series.
He did get a BAFTA for Peaky Blinders, which is the UK version of the Oscars and Emmys combined.
I say the same thing, he didnt just win for Oppenheimer, he also won for Peaky Blinders. ❤
Yeah… its called an emmy genius
@@zairff An Emmy is an Oscar?
That little bow that Sir Ben made to Cillian as he said, “My congratulations” gave me chills. I imagine such a tribute from a legend is right up there with winning the golden statuette itself.
So happy he won. The dude deserves it. You can tell how genuinely happy everybody was for him.
Congrats, Cillian! He looked like he was blushing. A well deserved win after so many great performances.
Him taking his time thanking and hugging everyone shows what type of a man he is. Congrats, most deserved
"I would like to dedicate this to the peacemakers everywhere." Such powerful words. ❤
This is not only a well-deserved win for Cillian, but also a win for understated, subtle acting. Cillian completely disappeared into the role of J. Robert Oppenheimer without any sort of bombast or loud "Oscar bait" moments. Just effortlessly lived in the character for 3 hours.
Exactly. Subtle performances like this rarely get the recognition.
Glad Cillian’s finally being recognized! Swept the awards season!!
He didn’t win the critics choice award though
@@xmania00 well not best actor but with the cast so he did
Is anyone else enjoying these short introductions and honoring of each actor? - I really like it alot!!
I really like this format
Yes! ❤
theyve done it a few years now, right? it always brings some humanity to an otherwise corporate affair.
The fact that Cillian took a moment to honor the other nominees is exactly why I love Cillian so much. He wanted to include everyone❤❤
Probably the shortest speech ever for someone who won in this category. Comes to show how discreet Cillian is, usually people like to tell whole stories but he kept it short and to the point and all with love. Happy for him as well!
Nic Cage. What a fucking legend.
from Scarecrow to Dr. J Robert Oppenheimer... what a wild 20 years of Chris Nolan and Cillian Murphy.. they finally have their Oscars.
Am I the only one who got a kick out of Nicholas Cage's speech to Paul G.? It was so damn hilarious!!!
What I love about Cillian Murphy is how genuinely kind and humble he is. He's very shy and isn't too big on the spotlight, yet he enjoys what he does. I love that he took his time to shake the hands of all the previous winners presenting the award before his Oscar speech. Such class.
What a speech! I admit I really wanted Paul Giamatti to win this award, but Cillian is also so well-deserved. He won the Golden Globe Award, BAFTA and the SAG award before he won his first Oscar. He is so humble and gentle. He dedicated his Oscar to the peacemakers. What a lovely man!❤
Cillian Murphy getting the award from Brendan Fraser is like a passing the torch down to the successor.
Congratulations to Cillian.
Actually, it's a tradition, meaning Cillian Murphy will probably present next year's Best Actor award. (Unless he's nominated again.😊) So we have that to look forward to!

More of an insult. Drama Queens, like Fraser, who buy their awards with fabricated sob stories, should be exposed before the following year.

Bravo
Yes! Right on! So happy he said that!
Riiiiight. No one outside Hollyweird is on board.
And being introduced by Kingsley who played Gandhi.
That was such an ignorant hypocritical statement.
i appreciate that he's not terribly eloquent. he doesn't have much to say, he doesn't have a need to say much. he's sort of humble and ordinary and normal and then yet you see him at his craft, his wide array of performances, and then all of them culminating in THIS, this unbelievable role as Oppenheimer that is truly some of the best acting that has ever been put to film, showing such staggeringly deep and uncomfortable levels of humanity and the inner-conflicts of the soul, all wrapped in the expert portrayal of such a specific type of intelligent, soft-spoken human that no longer exists
One of the best decisions ever by the academy. Cillian was brilliant in this role. Such an eloquent heartfelt and humble speech. Bravo!!
one of my favorite moments in award shows is when a first time winner looks at the crowd standing and applauding for them
Such an iconic moment when Cillian Murphy dedicates his award to peacemakers & he was introduced by Ben Kingsley who won his Oscar for playing a role of peacemaker, Mahatma Gandhi! Super ICONIC! So happy Cillian Murphy won! Phenomenal acting!🎉
Cillian Murphy is an incredible actor, he gave a beautiful performance in Oppenheimer and deserved the Oscar and other awards that came before such as the Golden Globe, SAG and BAFTA. It's a shame that Critics Choice didn't give him this recognition, and after all, since 2021 they've been missing the actors award. Congratulations on this Achievement Cillian.
Now that’s how you do a winning speech. Short, sweet, congratulatory, and brilliant. Congrats Cillian!!!
The applause for Cillian gave it away! He was the winner all along
I was shocked and pleased when his name was read and the crowd went crazy! That was the loudest and most sincere applause I have heard for a winner in my memory. Good for Cillian. He more than deserved this moment.
I remember watching him in Disco Pigs when his accent was practically a foreign language. Look at him now. He's truly an amazing actor and so unHollywood that it's even more refreshing to see him win. Pure talent, totally deserved.
I love this way of honoring each nominee. Really cool. Also really beautiful how Cillian Murphy took the time to shake the hand of each of the talented people on stage. Great speech. Congratulations. I love seeing people win it’s inspiring.
They did this in 2009 as well.
Years ago, I was watching cable and stumbled over a movie called, "Red Eye" and was mesmerized by the actor playing the villain. I'm very happy that actor's journey continues with such a triumph tonight. Well deserved for such great work!

I love the way Sir Ben Kingsley says “Cillian Murphy” at 2:12. Very calm and humble, just like Cillian himself is
1st thing makes me happy is that Cillian Murphy won,
2nd thing makes me happy is that Brendan Fraser presented the award.
Thanks Oscars for putting the UA-cam clips up so fast!
I really love it when Oscars does this: 5 previous winners presenting.
This year’s show was great and grand 👍🏻👍🏻
Chris Nolan just sitting there watching Cillian accept the award like “yea… I told you you can be the best and you believed” love it
Finally Cillian Murphy won his first Oscar! Well deseverd!
Patience and passion in this craft earned him the long awaited award. Brilliant and polished. Like a rare gem he is. And Christopher Nolan had his eyes set on this gem 20 years ago. Congrats to both on the Oscars!❤❤❤
Unfortunately a lot of times these awards are handed out to actors who are “due”, not because of their performance.
That didn’t happen here. This was Cillian’s first Oscar nomination, the first time he’d ever been up for a big award - he didn’t just win it, he got a standing ovation from all his peers as he went up to collect it.
Tells you all you need to know about the performance he put in. Definitely one for the ages.
Yes, and a standing ovation after his speech too.

Such a classy way to end an acceptance speech for this particular role. Congratulations, Cillian!
this is the only clip I needed to watch from the Oscars
“Go raibh míle, míle, maith agat” ~ what Cillian Murphy said at the end of his acceptance speech. It means, “May good be at you” in Gaelic. Glen Hansard also said it during his acceptance speech for his song in ONCE.

You just gotta love Cillian. He is SO talented and yet so humble.
This is arguably the best leading actor, Oscar speech ever
Sir Ben Kingsley’s speech about Cillian Murphy was beautiful 4:20 when Cillian thanks him made me so happy
Paul Giammati in The Holdovers was my pick to win, but my respect goes to Cillian Murphy for his outstanding performance in Oppenheimer.
I would have been so happy to see Giamatti win, but I'm just as happy for Cillian. Both just wonderful, wonderful performances.

cillian is such a genuinely good human being, so happy to see him win, he definitely earned it and i can see it meant a lot to him!
As soon as I watched Oppenheimer 200 times, I knew he was gonna win. He absolutely killed it.
1:03 Nicolas Cage is a legend! Paul Giamatti immediately knew something was up, he was already trying not to laugh. Cage should have busted out "I could eat a peach for hours" to really set the tone XD
Paul Giamatti seems to really appreciate those words from Nicolas Cage.
Best leading actor performance of the year for sure. Defiantly deserved this and every accolade he received for playing J. Robert Oppenheimer.
Really nice seeing Colman Domingo get nominated, I feel he'll win one eventually. Outstanding actor.
It’s funny, for me, the first thing I ever saw him in was “Fear the Walking Dead,” which has had such up-and-down writing and overall inconsistent quality throughout its run, but it always felt like “that dude,” whose name I admittedly didn’t even know for many seasons, seemed like he was on a different level than everybody else. Like how an elite high school athlete just looks like they’re playing a different game than everybody else, he stole basically every scene he was in, even when often given some pretty mediocre lines to deliver. It’s awesome to see him having come so far to now being introduced by Forest Whitaker and recognized alongside so many legends of the profession.
He's winning next year - Sing Sing.

A phenomenon indeed. Crazy Barbenheimer summer.

I have seen movies of Cillian Murphy for a long time and I am awed with how he portrays his characters. He can play the lead or support, the good or the bad guy, and he always give an outstanding performance. His deep blue eyes are so hypnotizing it adds more depth in his performances. Congratulations to him. The Oscars got it right. Well deserved and long coming but now he's one of them.
I liked this format of having the previous winners address each of the nominees, it gives the nominees more of a nod than simply quickly reading their name off.
To see Brendan Fraser all the way back as a leading man is enough for me in this clip ❤
A leading man? Where? I hope you don't mean that disgusting thing last year. Leading men have leading ladies and Fraser hasn't had one for over a decade (onscreen or off). Paid escorts don't count.
