    It takes that man less than 5 minutes to have me smiling from ear to ear. He never stoppped being a wide-eyed kid full of enthusiasm. That makes him the most mature person in any room he's in.

    I admit I teared up during Ke's accounting of his reuniting with Harrison Ford. That emotion is just so powerful. I really hope that he continues to get roles. He's such a great actor and his joy in his art is impossible not to feel through the screen.

      I used to be like him, but you get made fun of, even in professional work settings, and kind of crushed by cliques in the real world. I had to learn to mellow out a bit and even then it's hard to be accepted. But enthusiasm like this is not always well received in the workplace. Maybe on a talk show. But not in some American office.

    As a comeback movie, Everything, Everywhere, All at Once was really an amazing vehicle. At different points in the movie he got to play the wimp, the kung fu bad-mutha, the forlorn romantic, and in the end, the hero who saved everyone. In this movie, he really was everything, everywhere. And he nailed it.

      It could be a blessing in disguise. Not getting roles for so long, Huy got protected from the soul-crushing industry that destroyed too many young people.
      Come back 30 years later, he will have the maturity and wisdom to deal with its dark side.
      It is also a testament to human spirits that you should never give up hope.

    As a kid he was always my favorite part of The Goonies and Indiana Jones. I’m so happy he has fought his way back in front of the camera. He deserves all of the goodness!

    I grew up looking up to Ke Huy Quan and am so happy to see his long-awaited return to acting getting all the recognition it deserves; he made me cry like a baby in EEAAO! And so humble at meeting Stephen, what a heartwarming & genuine guy

But I have a feeling that Ke wanted to make it on his own instead of relying on someone and feeling indebted to them. Idk, I'm just assuming

      ​@@esrever777 i thought about that too and i have a feeling that steven had tried to get him into every project he could but casting directors are a thing and sometimes as much as directors have a say, it also depends on the script, casting agents and studio and ke has mentioned that it was incredibly hard back then to cast asian actors. and ke did step out of the limelight to work behind the camera.

      I think we assume how much power even directors have over their projects in big budget movies.
      It takes one executive or casting director to reject an actor like Ke and Spielberg can’t really change hollywood racism overnight.
      Can you even think of a hollywood movie or project that had asian actors in them? Hollywood is incredibly white especially in the 80s and 90s when Ke was trying to break out.
      Even George Takei the most famous american asian actor didn’t get a ehole lot of work after Star Trek.

    I have tears in my eyes every time he talks. As a kid of the 80s watching him in Goonies and Indiana Jones and now where he is today warms my heart and restores my faith in humanity. So so happy for him and his family at all of this wonderful success!

    Ke Huy Quan, most of my generation will NEVER forget you. The roles you had are part of our cherished history. You helped us believe as kids we could travel around the world for adventure and could strike out to discover mysteries and buried treasure. So incredibly happy for your recent successes and I look forward to seeing you in more.     No one deserves their flowers more than this man right here. He’s probably the most genuine person in Hollywood on top of being a phenomenal actor. Seeing Ke Huy Quan’s infectious joy makes it all the more better. He thought after working with Spielberg the only direction was down - well buddy, when you win that Oscar (which everyone knows he will), you’re only going to infinity and beyond. ❤

The appreciation and excitement that he has for everything he's done and everything he's doing shines light on what a good person he is.       Although Hollywood was a bit shit back then, getting out of acting for a while probably was for the best…although maybe not quite SO long. Maybe just ten years to grow up and then get back into it would have been ideal.

      Don't get me wrong, Hollywood is racist af, and this dude is lovable as a Golden Retriever - but he was a child actor, which just doesn't provide you a pedigree to build on. There are definitely hundreds of child or YA actors that show promise in medium profile roles but never get another job.

    As someone who works regularly as a handler at conventions, hearing that Ke's handler was able to give him a moment with Harrison gives me so much joy. We handlers live for moments where we can bring a joyous experience to the talent who gives US so much joy with their work.

      @Diana Dai Same here, but don't know if you noticed that Colbert didn't even take the time to learn how to pronounce his name correctly. In Colbert's intro, he pronounced it incorrectly as 'Kay Hoo-whee' Quan instead of 'Kay Whee' Quan.
      Usually whenever Colbert has a guest whose name is difficult to pronounce, such as an Irish guest, he'll apologize to the guest for mangling their name & bend over backwards to get the correct pronunciation. But not so with Asian-American guests.

      @@filmneye Kay whee quan? thats not how you pronounce his name. Stephen was actually close to a correct pronunciation. Instead of 'key' it would've been 'ker', and 'wei' instead of 'wee'. if you want to pronounce his name correctly and traditionally, it is Kwan Ker Wei

    I'm a 39 year old single dad to a 17 year old son. I work hard at my job making aluminum casting car parts and I came home a few nights ago and decided to watch the recap of The Oscars. This man almost had me me in tears because of how genuinely honest and caring and nice he is. He is a damn national treasure who should be filming 2 MAJOR movies a year if his heart so desires!!!!!! Gongrats Ke, I am not sure if anyone anywhere has EVER deserved ANY award as much as you sir have deserved that Oscar Award!!!

    I hope EEAAO wins ALL the Oscars. Best movie I have seen in years. And Ke Huy Quan is a big part of why the movie works so well.
    Can't wait to see him in all his future projects.

    Man, he was phenomenal in EEAAO. I can't believe he was rejected from Hollywood for the past 20+ years. It practically took an Indie film to bring him back. This is why I support Indie movies.

    When he gave his acceptance speech at the Oscars, I said, "I'm done." Ke had just expressed the joys and the depths of despair in life. And he was just the 2nd winner! I think the rest of his acting experience is going to be exactly what he wants. So deserving!

    I was at the Disney convention watching the panel he was talking about. After Harrison ford discussed Indy 5 it was the Marvel portion and Ke comes out for Loki and said he got lost and thought this was the Indiana Jones reunion panel. He seems like such a genuinely nice man and I’m excited to see what else he has in store for us. EEAAO is such a great showcase for what we’ve been missing out from him all these years.

    The second everyone I knew found out Ke Huy Quan was the kid from Goonies and Indiana Jones, they were instantly incredibly excited.
    He was the favorite child actor of so many people. Why the bloody hell did people not give him a job?
    We lost YEARS of having this incredible actor perform for us, and he lost so much time he could have been living his dream.

      He went to University and became a stunt coordinator and worked behind the camera on some pretty big movies so he was still in the industry. But, absolutely. Acting makes him so happy, I'm glad he's back into it. I'm excited to see him in more roles. But, when you think about it, how many parts, before this past decade, were cast with Asian actors? He said himself, it wasn't until he saw 'Crazy Rich Asians' he realised that there ARE parts out there and he wanted back into it.

    I never forgot him. I remember him from Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, Goonies, Together We Stand, and Head Of The Class. The recent picture of him with Harrison Ford brought a smile to my face. This interview gave me chills. I am extremely happy for him.

    Nooooo frigging way... we've just been waiting for his return to screen. He's given me so much JOY from his unforgettable characters over the years. I will always be grateful for his performances and how they affected my life in such a positive way.

      Hollywood sure forgot about him for nearly 30 years. But I think its too hard to ignore his talent, charisma, and is unwavering joie de vivre after EEAAO. Ke Huy Kwan is an international treasure.

      They’re in separate categories. Ke is up for Best Supporting Actor, and Brendan is up for Best Actor. I hope both of them win. Brendan’s race is a little less certain because Austin Butler has been performing well on the awards trail, too, so it’s a toss-up. Ke’s race is a lock. He’s winning that Oscar.

    We were the Indy''s household while I was growing up. Indiana movies were something for the family. My dad is kinda strict... But I remember him laughing sooooo hard and telling 'this kid is fun, great actor. Too bad he's not a blue eyed blondy. He's gonna trouble finding jobs in the movies just because of how he looks.' My dad was sooooo right.
