@Abrar Mohammad you're the one who's overhyped lol. You're driven by emotion Just because the guy's dead. You're not judging them by their performance...
I don't agree with the Academy on a lot of their decisions, but they were dead right to give Heath Ledger the Oscar for his mesmerising portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight. He completely deserved that Oscar. One of the greatest acting performances I've ever seen, and will live on for generations to come. Rest in peace Heath Ledger, a masterful actor, and a truly wonderful human being. RIP Legend!
Heath was an awesome actor!! I cannot believe that he took himself away from life. It's is aobsad however the academy recognized him for his efforts and his family accepted his award. That was the perfect thing to honor a son and a brother and as an actor to the public. Go heath!!!
While it has been said that they only gave him the Oscar because of his death, I think it was well deserved. His version of the Joker is not only one of the best superhero movie villains, but one of the most iconic villain portrayals ever.
It's beyond ridiculous for anyone to suggest that. This is one of the greatest performances in movie history and it has nothing to do with the actor dying. This movie changed superhero movies forever and it was mainly bc of this character.
And Joaquin's acknowledgment of Heath's eleven years later (after portraying the same character) just makes this even more memorable. Unquestionably, two unique human beings.
His solo movie: 97% Rotten Tomatoes 88% Metacritic A+ Audience Cinemascore 3 Oscars 1.3 Billion dollars He so far starred in 4 movies and all of them are box office champions. You know Black Panther is one lucky bastard when you know he achieved everything in 4 years while Batman and Joker in decades couldn't.
It must be so hard for those parents to hear the man saying; “and the oscar goes to Heath Ledger”. And then, they’ve gotta walk up to the stage and take his oscar. How heartbreaking that must be!
It’s strange. I sadly feel like history will not remember and praise a guy like Phillip Seymour Hoffman as highly as he clearly deserves. He was never considered a leading man, and rarely cast as such, but he was an absolute master of his craft, and he really deserves his very own pedestal. I would dare anyone to name a performance of his where he wasn’t excellent. A real shame for cinema to lose him so soon
@@xyzxyzxyz2959 Perhaps, but maybe you are being cynical. Maybe not. However, it would be easy for the actors to be genuinely sad as they worked in same profession - and he was brilliant.

That man went into another zone to play that character and if you knew him as an actor you would know he was gone walk away with that award whether he was alive or not. Standing ovaaaation! +Nancy Fischer It's called "Method Acting" where the actor actually becomes the character and takes it on and off the set. Eat, sleeps, and breathes as if he is the character. We used to do this in acting class, I was in the play with the Peanuts characters and the guy who played Linus really took it too far, walking around all the time dragging a blanket on campus lol. Some people even think that the actor becomes demon possessed as the character, they had a whole UA-cam video on that saying Heath Ledger was demon possessed as the joker. It was some scary stuff.
+Susan Maxfield I took an acting class as well, and Heath was brought up in one of our lessons, him and Depp. Both phenomenal actors....I was so glad when Heath got this Oscar! It was well deserved
+Nancy Fischer i believe that his win is deserved, however i think that the academy is messed up system that if he was alive they would not have given him the oscar, even though it would have been earned. but because it was his last they gave it to him. kinda like how winslet won for the reader that year. it isnt deserved but they feel she was overdue for one.

He was ready to go in and have dinner, but he explained to his father his concern for the ants running up a tree. “Well I’ve wrecked their home, and I feel badly about that.” That’s a TRUE human being with an unbelievable amount of empathy for all other things. The pain on everyone's faces is still felt today. I think we'd all have loved to see what more Heath could've achieved after revolutionising acting through being the Joker.
And he is still remembered today. Even Joaquin Phoenix mentioned him in his speech after accepting the SAG award: "I'm standing here on the shoulders of my favorit actor, Heath Ledger." Heath was great. Also loved Bale as Batman, one of my favorite actors.
Heath Ledger was definitely absolutely beautifully ‘the Joker’ - he’d be very proud, we love him and his amazing acting ability ‘turning weakness into strength’
When Heath's family gives the speech, you can see everybody just wanting to cry. It may be difficult to watch, but it shows how Heath affected not just the movie industry, but everyone in it.

Can't understand most of the people in this comment section saying "Heath was miles better" or "Joaquin was miles better". Both actors portrayed different aspects of the Joker; one was a fully psychotic role whereas the other was a transitional one. One was the supporting character whereas the other was the lead character. Can we please stop the comparisons as to who is better and appreciate the fact that both of them were phenomenal in their respective roles?

That's because unlike all the other villains in comic books, both DC and Marvel. He has no Superpower, not rich, and not a genius-level IQ. He is a man broken down by society where his only outlet was creating chaos and to level the playing field with Batman.

Heath Ledger wasn’t the best Joker, he was the Joker

@ Anubis the joker doesn't have to stick to script like others such as batman, or any of the other dc heroes thats why Nolan and Ledger had so much fun because they could play around with the idea of a sporadic and totally spontaneous character this was the idea and the comics and the games implement this too but not to the extent of ledger.
100%
I think he would’ve won had he been alive regardless. I don’t think the win would’ve changed.
Of course.
I have never heard that theory. He gave one of the best performances of the past 50 years!
It's beyond ridiculous for anyone to suggest that. This is one of the greatest performances in movie history and it has nothing to do with the actor dying. This movie changed superhero movies forever and it was mainly bc of this character.
That hospital bombing scene behind him and walking towards the camera tells everything, what an actor
And Joaquin's acknowledgment of Heath's eleven years later (after portraying the same character) just makes this even more memorable. Unquestionably, two unique human beings.
Yup, both portrayals absolutely brilliant, too. For different reasons.

It must be so hard for those parents to hear the man saying; “and the oscar goes to Heath Ledger”. And then, they’ve gotta walk up to the stage and take his oscar. How heartbreaking that must be!
I'm sure they're more happy he was recognized for his work and how much people loved him
better then hearing someone elses name heard.

And GOD, Kate Winslet is so expressive...
right?? she makes me cry .. when Lady Gaga performed that song about sexual abuse at the oscars 2015 , at the end Kate Winslet is giving a standing ovation, applausing and crying ..makes me cry
Imagine that your brother is a great actor , he was in the top of the world then he die and he wins the oscar and they select you and your family to give a speech i would star crying before i could say anything , i think she say much
My heart sank when they called the first nominee. I wasn't expecting to see him on this video. I came here for Heath and found yet another who has been lost to drugs.
Same for me. In the Philip's Oscar as best actor i sow Heath nominated and here i am again with both showing how good they were.
Filipe Gomes It's such a shame. Once you're addicted it's hard to stop. They were both great actors and it's very saddening to know that we'll never see anything more from them. I can't believe it's been 6 years since Heath..
Best comic villain portrayal we will ever get. Heath left us that wonderful gift. Rest in peace 🥀
