The only time she said “I won an Oscar” is when she mentioned her parents. She was so humble in all of her speech but she took that moment for herself.
Congrats to her. It was deserved

@@asummerphoenix what I meant was she spent the first part of the speech doing the usual spiel of an acceptance speech thanking everybody that you’re supposed to thank but that last bit she did with it what she wanted, and it was to honor her parents.
Both of my parents are also dead but if I told somebody I needed to take a moment to myself so I could dedicate something to them, I don’t think that person would comment “well it’s actually not a moment to yourself then, is it?!”

I loved when JLC exclaimed “Shut Up!” when her name was announced. Not only does it remind me of Freaky Friday, but it’s her being her authentic self. I always liked Jamie Lee Curtis, because she’s a versatile performer who always brings 100% of her intelligence, charm, talent, confidence, strength and energy into every role she’s tackled ever since she made her film debut in Halloween. She’s a definite one-of-kind.

Even though, I personally wouldn’t have picked JLC to win the Oscar, I really liked that she won for a comedic performance, which is very rare. The role definitely played into JLC’s strengths as a great comedic actress and she’d definitely brought a lot of energy into her character and she was very memorable in the movie, despite the very limited screen time she has. I much rather see JLC win her first Oscar for this movie, rather than some dramatic, “Oscar-bait” role that requires an emotionally, over-the-top, performance.

This, alongside her SAG acceptance speech, are two of the best award speeches of all time. Totally genuine, sincere and heartfelt. She did the right thing by relentlessly campaigning for not quite herself, but for the movie, her peers and Michelle. She successfully contributed to keeping EEAAO on full momentum throughout the award season. And I believe the academy voted for her victory due to her affable personality and as homage to her iconic career, but her performance in EEAAO shouldn't be denied at all.
