I did a bit of research and apparently the entire history of the original Wimbledon football club was passed on to AFC Wimbledon including the 1988 FA Cup win
Hi mate,
It is true but I have seen alot of things that also don't carry over the history and that's what I meant :)
I appreciate the feedback though! It all helps :)
@@GoodSportReviews I agree and I would say you cannot pass on history, you either earn it or have no part in it. Wimbledon turned into MK Dons AFC Wimbledon is just another new club.
It's Wimbledons football club, they deserve the history more than MK!
@@johnedwards230 Your missing the point. Wimbledon FC moved out to MK Dons they have the history. You can't just roll up and demand a clubs history, how entitled is that?
@@anglewoden I would say moving a club out of its area and away from its fans is more entitled.
nice video, gonna check out part 2. Thanks
Obvious additions would be Aldershot, Bradford Park Avenue, Workington Town and Bury - bet they're in part 2.
An interesting video on some defunct clubs.
Appreciate it mate :)
Well done and very interesting
Thank you mate! :)
New Brighton Tower and New Brighton FC both played in the Football League. Accrington FC were amongst the 12 founders of the Football League and NOT the same club as Accrington Stanley.
I'm a retired street cleaner
And in the 1980's I would speak with a window cleaner who had played for both Liverpool and New Brighton fc
Weirdly the first Accrington Stanley also went under, the Accrington Stanley today is the second club to use the name
It’s also worth noting with Maidstone that they were ground sharing with Dartford in the late 80s/early 90s. Due to making the football league, they had to pay for ground improvements which were then sold to Dartford which made their own debts so unmanageable that they had to sell their ground to stay afloat.
It really pissed me off that when the BBC talked about how unfortunate maidstone were to go bankrupt, there was no mention of the team they took down with them
@@dart2691 100%. After they were the media darlings for a while, it was wonderful to see them bottle the playoffs.
What about a series on English leagues that no longer exist? Like the old Division 1, 2 etc. Division 3 South/North. Non-league there was the Unijet League in the 90's (8th tier in Sussex).
Great idea mate!
Your english clubs videos are quality man. Great stuff.
Mate I really appreciate it thank you! :)
Bury, Rushden & Diamonds, Wanderers, Leeds City, Aldershot...so many of them.
Perfect mate! Can use for a future video thank you! :)
Bury actually still exist though, and it’s still the same club
Hinckley United who were an amalgamation of Hinckley Town and Hinckley Athletic and were members of the National League North went bust a few years ago having enjoyed a couple of FA Cup runs including a live game against Brentford on match of the day. Since then they have reformed under two separate teams AFC Hinckley who play at Barwell and Leicester Road who play at the former Hinckley United Ground.
@@CarlTebbuttthey didnt play in the football league
@@benwheeler8456not quite sadly. It's a phoenix club.
1:02 Deserved to go bust
Keep up the good work 💪
The photo of a large crowd of people on top of a building 6.17 in the Upton Park segment, contained a large amount of Hereford United supporters who were up to watch the FA Cup replay against West Ham in 72, it was an early kick off due to power strikes so many missed getting in as their special trains arrived too late.
Brilliant and very interesting video! Could you do one about defunct Scottish clubs?
More than happy to mate! Really appreciate the kind words!
@GoodSportReviews Thanks mate, anytime as it was very well researched and put together
Vale of laven, Gretna and rangers off the top of my head
Okay, take my sub.. great content lad.
Thank you mate! Really appreciate it :)
Do a video on Darlington FC and Blyth Town mate, please, Ur videos good amazing content keep it up
Darlington was a sad affair but a good warning not to let owners get carried away.
Thank you for the kind words mate :) happy to look into them!
I know they're not England, but Holyhead has a colourful history. To describe it as a rollercoaster history is as much of an understatement as to call Hitler 'a bit of a git'. Founded in 1925 the Harbourmen, as they were nicknamed, winning the Wesh league north, fourtimes in their halcyon years between 1950 - 70 and won the Anglesey league six times. It was during this period that they got to the quarterfinals of the Welsh cup in two successive seasons in the 1960 & 61 seasons .
But with highs come lows, the team was disbanded between 1998 - 2009, then disbanded for a further four seasons between 2012 - 2016. In 2019 it was announced that the first team would be leaving the Welsh Alliance league, citing their inability to field sides after three players were sent off in one match - meaning that due to injury, suspension & family / work commitments a minimum of nine players would be unavailable for the next three matches (I believe that in one game only four players turned up).
There was a greyhound track around the pitch at Maidstone's original ground. My dad worked behind the bar on nights when there was dog racing.
For Moor Green FC, was there stadium not insured?
8:21 under Thames AFC, is that a photograph inside Shawfield Stadium where Clyde FC used to play?
bradford park avenue ?
THEY ARE IN the Northern Premier League
@@LdevArt yes but they use to be in the football league.
Walthamstow Avenue played at green pond Road up until the eighties I think.
Probably the biggest amateur club in London for 50 years.
Oh and do a video that features Enfield, one of the most successful Amateur teams ever.
As a Maidstone fan, yes i can agree that it is two separate clubs, one formed after the other. However i wouldn't go as far to say that club doesn't exist anymore, a number of the fans of the old Maidstone support the new as if it was the same club, and we have assumed the history of the said original club. So I would say it's a a bit steep to say that Maidstone United doesn't exist anymore as the history, the fans and even club members are still there form the old days. We even have a book that explains said matters, which comes from an expo we had in the Maidstone museum a few years back. Anyways good video will be on the lookout for new stuff
Hi mate, appreciate the feedback! It's always interesting to hear the perspectives of fans from the clu s mentioned!
Make sure to subscribe so you can see all the future content!
Makes no odds they are a new club whether like it or feel it.
the Squatters ceased to exist. The club you support was founded after that as Maidstone Invicta.
Think what you like, but the current Maidstone United is not the same as the one that nearly took Dartford out with it.
Hi I am an older guy from Sheffield & found the story of the "Zulus" team interesting. I have never heard this one before to be honest, dont know many from Sheffield that have.
Hey mate, it really is an interesting story! Didn't know myself either until I researched it!
@@GoodSportReviews Good bit of research there son, Always thought the Zulus were associated "Brums" active Mob ????, shows you what I know hey !!!
Chester FC still exist, as they was Chester FC until 1980’s when they changed their name to Chester City, before they changed back to their old name after City was closed down. Maidstone Utd still exists. Macclesfield & Hereford still exist, with small change to their name.
wrong.
Thought for sure Clapham Rovers would be in this video they did win the FA Cup after all . They are also commemorated with a place on the Millennium Path in Arcbishop's Park near Lambeth Palace .
Why is there a photo of Fulham - with the great Johnny Haynes front and centre - at Craven Cottage in your history of Brentwood (10:41)?
I've just post the same. I'm a Fulham supporter and instantly thought "Wtf?!".
Why didn't you mention Hereford United? They were wound up in the high court, Hereford fc were found a few years later.
Would Colne Dynamoes work in another episode? They had a brief money filled moment in the sun in the late 80's. It could be seen as a forerunner of how some modern clubs operate. Everything was great, until the cash ran out.
i saw them
The story of Britain....everything's great until the money runs out..
@anthonyleighton4754 There's still money, it's just not been getting shared out, ha!
Horwich RMI used to play at Grundy Hill in Horwich, up until the 90’s, I lived right across from it and used to walk through their ground to get to school.
The usual happened, the ground was worth more to build houses on so after years of the locals demanding it stayed they got people to vandalise it so they could sell it.
They moved later to Leigh and changed their name, to Leigh RMI but that was a few years later.
They did play against some big name teams, it’s a shame they got moved, living across from a football field and cricket field was pretty sick as a kid, shame I was too young to enjoy the football as an adult, I wouldn’t have had to walk far to get home 🍻
I remember that day, December 6th 1930. The reason barely anyone showed up was because there was an early putch inspection by the referee, Alan Wolesley, and it went out on the wireless that the match had been cancelled, which wasn't true. But because I hadn't turned the radio on that morning, I went to the match. There was a hell of a lot of leg room, that's for sure! 😂
I like swiss roll over, take one for the team. . .😮
We in semis mate!!!!😮
How about a video that features clubs who won the FA Cup but have been disbanded ?
Add rangers to that list
I played for Moor Green as a kid.
We signed a player from Chester City he was Danny Collins
Who was this for mate? :)
@@GoodSportReviews Sunderland I'm guessing.
Add Southend United to the list because they got few weeks until they are gone. Unless they get rid of Ron Martin and get a new chairman who can take over the club and keep Southend United alive and in the National League.
You’ll be alright. But Martin will wait until the eleventh hour, as he always does. Martin has more to lose, by letting the club go under.
Unfortunately my club Southend United might be added to that list
I really hope not, my mum grew up very close to where they play and she'd be pretty upset about this.
Southend utd will join them soon 😢
not now, weve managed to save ourselves!
I'm actually Maidstone United's medics grandson! If your wondering what it's like to be it I can go all home matches for free I can go to the bar inside for free and I can get FA Cup balls and stuff.
Can I be his grandson too? That free bar sounds great.
ah, so you are what is known in the real world as a scrounger. Thanks for letting us know.
Fisher athletic, Enfield town?
5:52 Yeovil badge .
I remember back in the 60's there was a chewing gum that had a wrapper depicting non league clubs, The Moor Green story triggered my memory, Who knows why. There was also one for the club I supported, Enfield, although the wrapper said Enfield Town, it wasn't it, was just Enfield FC although they were known as the "Town" or the "E's" Long gone now as is their stadium, Southbury Road, Aah Memories
Can you do a Scottish one so we can laugh at Rangers :D
More than happy to mate! :)
yeh defo rangers haha. and a more interesting story is third lanark fc. used to be a quality scottish team 100 years ago. lasted to the 70s but were not the same after WWII
They'll have the last laugh as they still exist.
Would that be the older more successful football club from Glasgow?
😂😂😂
Might do a quick Create A Club of Brentwood FC on EA Sports FC Create A Club Career Mode
Why no mention of Blackburn Olympic who actually WON the F.A. cup!
As did Oxford University FC
Clapham Rovers as well . They are also commemorated with a place on the Millennium Path in Arcbishop's Park near Lambeth Palace and opposite St Thomas' hospital , London .
@@robertclark2253 and they actually beat Oxford University FC in that final win
@@Nykona-Sharrowkyn Although the commemorative plaque only confirms their 1880 victory the score was Clapham Rovers 1 Oxford University 0
@@robertclark2253 indeed it was 😊
🤣 Do a Scottish one about Liquidated clubs & new clubs using the assets
So that may or not be the next video coming 👀
@@GoodSportReviews Your channel will get a big turn out from us Celtic fans on the views & the likes plus the other lot will tune in to see what you've said about them 🤣🤣
Yes Celtic athletic and football ltd died in 1994
@@norbertalbertz7259 Celtic went from a private company to a public company never got Liquidated never had to buy assets never had to ask for assets transfer from a liquidated company to a new company Celtic didn't have to ask could they join the league & start from the very bottom why's that because Celtic paid their debts & changed how the club ( company. ) could get owned & runned in the future ( today ) at least know what your talking about before talking 💩 💩 with a reply so get it up ye 🖕 your real team is dead & your new one is 💩💩🍀 Celtic then Celtic now Celtic forever 🍀 same canny be said about the walking dead of Ibrox
🪦R.I.P R*ngers 1872-2012 🪦
140 years gone in 8 minutes & it only cost a £1
In the first Maidstone United picture the old person on the left he is my uncle
Darlington, Hereford, Bradford PA, for starters, there's a lot of them that you've missed.
Hi mate, I mention these on my latest video :)
Sol Campbell,a great player, not so much when it comes to money 💰
Did the dirty on Pompey and Notts County when money wasn't forthcoming too.
Some people only think about themselves rather than the bigger picture. Shame.
No mention of harchester united?
Maidstone still about I watch them every home game
2:16 can’t tell me that isn’t a photoshopped in person on the very right of the picture
I never knew that Wycomb was pronounced like Wiccum. I always though it was pronounced like Whycomb.
What about Clapton Orient?
Clapton Orient became Leyton Orient. Same club.
Man City aufgelöst ist kein Problem aber FC Liverpool,Arsenal oder Manchester United aufgelöst ist KATASTROPHE!!!!!!!
Let's not forget Scarborough.
I wish the new Maidstone dissolved as a Ipswich fan
Ipswich Town would only do 1 year in the Premier League so good luck.
What about my hometown Scarborough FC.
Macclesfield still exist i no cause i no one of the keepers
It's know not no and Macc FC are a new club they're not Macc Town FC, they're not the Silkmen anymore they're now the Milkmen.
I am sure in the future there will be many more clubs that will not exist.(Could
your local club be one of them).
Maidstone still exists...
Hey mate thanks for the comment,
The original Maidstone united went into liquidation in 1992 and were replaced by the new iteration of them soon after
I classed it as a different club with a different history because they did disband for a while :)
No, they don’t 🤷🏻♂️
@@GoodSportReviews ah ale
@@jamescruttwell3870 yes they do. Varanama national league north/south.
@@kensiso1234 No, they don’t. This is Maidstone Invicta who were renamed United shortly after taking them over once the original Maidstone folded left Dartford homeless in the process
Leeds and Swansea technically don't excist
Abadare and noth Glossop.
Were former league teams
Maidstone United do hold the history of the previous iteration of the club and is recognised as such by the FA, so they shouldn't be on this list.
What about bury Scarborough Hereford
With create a club in fc theres so many oppertunities for people, so sick of ppl saying they bored!

Please make sure to subscribe!
@GoodSportReviews trust me, look into the FA cup archives first round matches, especially in the 1800's, even early 1900's. And yes, to research it will take ages. Took me an hour to get these and only made it to 1880 and that's not researching the history of the clubs 🤣
@GoodSportReviews although Darwen is a big one because they played in the first Football alliance league (2nd tier) from 1890-1891 season they also played in the top flight season 1891-1892 season 2nd division the year after that played league football until 1898-1899 season
Hitchin not hitchen
Hitchin not Hitchen
As a City fan I did a double take when I read 10 English clubs that no longer exist then saw that one of them had a crest MUFC 😂
Newton health was it
Why? 🤔
CITY CITY CITY SHIT SHIT FUCKIN SHIT
Why is Leeds City not on here? Only formed in 1904, then disbanded by the FA in 1919, because of apparent illegal payments to players. The same ‘illegal’ payments that other teams like Arsenal had also made.
There's never been any evidence to support illegal payments by Arsenal
Glasgow Rangers died reformed as sevco 2012
You have to many videos for me to check so have you done Darlaston Town FC? Only amatuer bit had a great following back in the day 👍
What, no love for Accrington Stanley or Bury?
Don't forget, Manchester City. After we find out their fate, you can add them to this list.
Don’t give up your day job
Clapton fc went out of business
Aberdare Athletic disbanded and left the football league in 1927
Just looking at this list; if Brentford no longer exists, who is the team in the Premier League now?
The team in the video is BrentWOOD - not Brentford.
Snowdown C.W. FC!!
Oi, what about Hereford United?
Not happy with you 😂
Shame Maidstone dropped the Iguanadon from the badge 😏
No Bury?
Bury actually still exist, they're now playing in the lower leagues
Add Reading FC to this list soon unfortunately 😢
I’m definitely sure Macclesfield still exists
They do
Maidstone and Halifax still a club
You are incorrect about afcw not having their history, the FA decideds that and awarded them the former clubs accolades, fail=1 (and I’m a wolves fan I have no reason to be biased)
Maidstone united existed
England has reached the semis.
I bet you have a Semi -
Good one. Your parents must be very proud.
Chester City fc ever got higher than the third division. They Never reached division 2
Agreed, was going to post this. Third tier highest we ever got. Think they finished 5th one year, the same year Wrexham got into the 2nd. Now in 6th tier (as Chester FC) 😔😔. Can't even imagine what it would be like to be back in the league.
Leeds city
Hereford Utd didn't make the cut then
@@GeraintReynolds2 they are in my latest video mate :)
@@GoodSportReviews ahh cool il check it out
Nonsense. Wimbledon FC changed their name and location to MK Dons and relocated to Bletchley. Same club same 1890s registration. Still in the same league, never went out of it. Just a name change.
Arsenal changed location and name. many have.
Someone does not know maidstone is still going look again you don't know what your doing
Hi mate, the club went into liquidation in 1992 and the current iteration started their history from new after that :)
And you don’t know what you’re talking about. 🙄
God I hope were not on this list soon
You missed out bury !
Mcfc ... now abu dhabi f.c
Would be good to see a Scottish one just to laugh at the sevco fans in the replies
Judas broke Macclesfield 😊😂
Hopefully man utd joins this list in the future
👍
Afc wimbledon were given the history of the old club including the f.a cup so isn't really a new club just a new name , most teams have changed their name over the years including man utd , if bootle never went under liverpool wouldn't of been formed
I agree mate but I have also seen many things that say the history is not a continuation :)
It's a good point though and bootle dropped out of the league and we're replaced by Liverpool but their departure wasn't the formation of the club :)
I appreciate the feedback though!
@@GoodSportReviews the team i support changed it's name was stoke ramblers ( shambles these days 🙄 ) .
Our rivals though port vale are actualy named after nothing , theres no port vale in stoke on trent other than the club .
