      I live in Delhi. We went to south indian restaurant (not so south indian). We ordered dosa. Except for me all of my colleagues were eating dosa with a spoon. I told them to eat using hands. And they told me that it's disgusting to eat like that. North Indians are literally dumbasses

    Dosa is one of the few Indian dishes that doesn't get enough recognition here in the United States. Most people in the United States, who go to Indian restaurants, consume things like chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, goat curry, saag paneer, biryani, naan, etc. Few are acquainted with how flavorful the dosa is. As an Indian, who is quite familiar with the various foods across India, the dosa - this simple street food - is one of my favorites. I appreciate your channel bringing exposure to this overlooked Indian specialty.

      I think as an indian myself I can answer this: Many of us start from nothing, poor people in America are rich compared to India. Just making it to America we feel like we have won the lottery. Indian culture is also not violent and aggressive like some cultures in the USA (hip hop culture) we are never going to be gangsters or intimidate anyone. Eastern cultures are about respect. You don't want to act like a fool and bring shame to your family. Another thing is finding peace with yourself, this comes from the hindu religion but I also see it in indians who are muslim.

      maunakea fun fact, these are extremely simple foods. We make this when we want to make something less complicated with few ingredients. If you can find an indian store near you, you could probably make these too as some stores do sell dosa batter. You can also get a lot of spices from these stores and if you want to try making a curry these indian stores do sell spice mixes/packets of spices with the label for what dish it is for and even how to make the dish on the packet. Believe me, it's not as hard as you think.

    The food scene in Santa Fé is amazing. Especially when you consider its really a small town. But regardless of where your food is originally from, you should always have a green chili cheese version of something on the menu to pay homage to the local food. Fusion at its best.
    I'll put this restaurant on my list to dine at when I return.

    I'm an expat living in Chennai southern India and podi in this video called as gun powder dosa,masala and ghee roast dosa are my most favorite especially with chilli chutney and sambar just the mere thought is making me drool apart from that gongura pickle from Andhra Pradesh and traditional rasam(which is spicy tamarind water with red chillies, ginger,garlic, black pepper helps in proper digestion along with fixing any stomach issues) are incredibly tasty best when consumed with rice

    Santa Fe is a great place, I still have people from there asking how I’m doing because my grandma lived there, raised horses and let her property be used for various art events (Zimbabwean stone sculptures, Nigerian dance, just anyone who needed a spot to perform). Bless Santa Fe

      I thought the same thing except it is thin. In Ethiopia they have a similar bread that is fermented for that sour flavor called Injera. However it is made with Teff flour. Good stuff either way

    • @pranjaldwivedi5999
      @pranjaldwivedi5999 6 років тому +11

      Injera isn't as crisp as the dosa though. Plus it is pretty much an entire meal whereas dosa on the other hand is more of a breakfast food in southern India.

      Injera tastes like cardboard and Ethiopian cooking is nowhere near as sofisticated. All the Wots have the same basic berbere spicing. Try a real dosa and accompaniments.

      Aaquib Mohammed damn, I have never it spelt like that. It's generally spelled as Idli. Where are you from, Aaquib?

    • @vikrammurudkar2450
      @vikrammurudkar2450 5 років тому +1

      Aaquib Mohammed Actually, the ratio of the ingredients in the idli batter differ a bit.
      In dosa batter, the lentil (Dal is high as compared to rice) while rice content is higher in Idli batter.
      The best thing about South Indian snack is the variety of chutneys available & hot & spice rich Sambhar to go with it.
