Entrepreneurs are always happy whether they're street Entrepreneurs or Silicon valley.. the people who trade securities and derivatives etc are always fizzy fuzzy
I'd assume most of the items are actually under $5. In his home country, they're under $1. Veggies cost more here, but a lack of meat should keep his overhead very very low, and allow him to profit even in the $3-$5 price range, at least $2-3 per meal.

I came one day and asked if he had any chai for sale. He did not, but he shared some from his personal thermos with me! He refused to take no as an answer. So very kind. Always a long line when I walk by his cart. If you catch him with a short line hop in!! The samosas are so delicious.
You can tell that he was genuinely really emotional while talking about how much he loved the shop, his craft and the people. That kind of love and passion is priceless and really warmed my heart. Also, now I crave sf.
He said it very right "whatever you cook put the most important ingredient, that is love, and it will be the tastiest food of this world". Great man and kudos to his dedication.
His price is actually not right at all. You could buy the same thing in India for less then a dollar with more variety and a great taste. I understand that the price varies in the US so he could increase the one dollar to 4 or 5 max. Anything more than that is just pure inflation.
