We were in Athens in 2021 and 2022, and stayed in the Pagrati area with relatives (lucky us!). We loved going to 'OK Bread', 'To Mavro Provato' (very popular highly rated restaurant known for it's variety of unique 'small plates' dining), Ohh Boy!, and Tres Sorelle. There are so many more great restaurants in that area, and we enjoyed sitting down at Proskopon Square, where they have seating for several restaurants lining the block. And we hardly scratched the surface! Athens is a gastronomical dream come true!
Just binge - watched most of your Santorini and Mykonos videos. Thank you so much for making these they are so helpful! We are going to Greece in may and these videos are helping us feel a little more prepared for our first trip without a tour group!
Thanks to you, we had a brilliant Greece trip.
Thanks for the information! Very valuable content! I visited Santorini last year and used your tips and tricks and this year I’m going to Mykonos! Very excited!!!! Thanks
Hi Sebi. You have been an incredible help as my fiance and I plan our Greece honeymoon this June. We will hit Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini, I swear your content was perfect for us! I am also a huge foodie, so we will absolutely be doing this tour. Truly thank you!
We had dinner at Bairaktaris when in Monastiraki… I had a Delicious Moussaka and my wife had a Brieam. I told our waiter (in Greek of course) that my mother made a similar dish when I was young, but we called it “Tourlou Tourlou”. The waiter said, “χορεις κρέας”!!! Had a great conversation with him! 🇬🇷🇺🇸
Hello Seb, I'm loving your videos! So informative and clear. We are going to Athens in 2 weeks and I'm hoping for a Street Food vid, or recommendations please. OR best area for this? Thank you!
Now I'm hungry, really nice video !
Athens has such amazing food! 🤍💙
Great Vlogs...thanks for sharing your advices. We are planning to come to Athens in may, could you suggest some places that might be interesting for kids (parks, virtual tours, action parks, zoo, museums etc.). Thanks again !
Hi ! Thx for the kind words ! The only thing I can think of in the CENTER of Athens is the Museum of Illusions : maps.app.goo.gl/1QbXgQ7urYvuyy8i7
But if you're ready to go on a couple of cab rides, you should go here :
- Action Park : maps.app.goo.gl/y8RADFwTLFg7rNo46
- Water park : maps.app.goo.gl/u22Rnye8H6gGgq7R9
- Zoo : maps.app.goo.gl/4JXjqCuXcaSSLe5w5

@@GreeceExplained Ευχαριστώ a lot ! :)
Good
Hi Sebi. Great videos. Thank you so much for helping me researching for my upcoming trip to Greece. I have a question regarding the food tour. Prior to viewing your video on the Athens food tour, I booked a food tour through Context, “Athens Food Tour with Varvakios Agora Market. I was thinking about canceling it and booking your recommendation. Can you weigh in? Thank you very much.
I cant speak for all food tours, I havent joined every single one of them :-)
But out of the several ones I went on, this was the best by far !
يمي جميل جدا ولذيييييذ 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hi, Sebi, we are coming to Athens in a few weeks. We have kids, 15 and 9. Would you recommend this food tour for families? Or is there a option to swap the wine tasting for other things since they cant drink?
Dont think you can swap, but the wine is only like 5% of the whole tour, so I dont think it's a big deal :-)
It looks so yummy!! But my husband is on gluten free diet.
Do you recommend a food tour for us? Thanks .
Dont believe that exists, sorry !
Hey Sebi, multiple tours showed up, which is the one you recommended?
The first one :-)
Going to Athens next week :) Do you have any gluten free recommendations for classic greek food?
"Avocado" in Athens.
Otherwise, just go to any restaurant and ask the waiter what's gluten free on the menu. At least one third of it will be.
@@GreeceExplained Thanks. I'm hoping for gluten free greek pastries, like spinach/cheese pie, baklava and the rest... I know it's unrealistic but one can hope :)
I know that a greek salad or most of the meat dishes (not in pita) are gluten or at least wheat free.. but it's the "specials" that I want :)
Also, and not really related to that, do you have a video showing the food stores in Athens? like Spar or similar?
We are going next week to athens .please tell me about weather now a days ..i m from uk..is my credit card useful there ?
Weather these days is 15-20C. Yes you can use your UK credit card here.
Are there any restaurants in Athens with live music?

Hi Sebi, we’re heading to Athens in May and I would like to do a food tour. Is there someone you can recommend please? Thanks Marie 😊
Sure ! The food tour I describe in the video can be booked at this link : www.getyourguide.com/athens-l91/athens-private-walking-food-tour-t28591/?partner_id=OMW3ALO&placement=%22other%22&mkt_cmp=true
all the food tours do the same shit, it's pretty boring. OH LOOK AT DIPORTO BEING AUTHENTIC! they all do the market, maybe fish in a cone, Kostas or O Kostas, savvas, klimateria, thanassis, all the usual spots. But that's okay for the Santorini/Mykonos folks. As long as they stay away from ...... (my usual Cyclades island), I'm good.
