Dear Sebastian, thank you very much for your suggestions. We've been to Santorini for the last 4 days, and thanks to your advises we had an amazing time! But the only thing that disappointed us very much is Fratzeskos Tavern. We had good food but a very bad service. The waiters were very disrespectful. But to locals they were very nice. So I wouldn't recommend this place for the foreigners. Other restaurants in Fira were awesome! Thank for your advises!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
As always, great video and wonderful suggestions. We went to Kali Kardia and were able to enjoy a beautiful sunset before our meal. The food and service were amazing, too!
Kali Kardia is a favourite for traditional, homemade like food. We went there several times for the veg/vegan options and were never disappointed. They have an actual vegan moussaka on the menu which we had at least 3 times and was delicious.
Love your vids Seb. Going back to the Island for the fifth time next month since Covid began. Special place. May i add a restaurant for anyone who’s watching and may be staying in Kamari... Captain’s Corner. Authentic simple Greek food at crazily cheap prices for the island. Family owned and the owner’s father (must be close to his 90’s, if not older) comes around and offers a shot of his homemade beverage. So cute. Real Greek atmosphere, have been many a time.
sure we will pay a visit to this resto's, just last week we stayed in perissa all 10-15 mins drive with scooter from perissa, already planning to comeback soon😊.
At Metaxi Mas, what they call the Avocado Salad is tremendous. Amazing, spicy arugula, beautiful Cretan olive oil, lemon, salt and perfect avocado - which isn't Greek, but they adapt perfectly. I totally agree on the chickpeas with trout - so delicious. Ouzeri should definitely have been on this list. Very affordable and awesome food, in an amazing location. The absolute best tomatokeftedes in the world.
Thank you so much for your tips. We are at the Good Heart Restaurant now and it is fantastic. All your tips helped actually. If you are up for a coffee our shout (buy) we are happy to meet you in Oia tomorrow morning as we are staying at Sole d oro until Monday.
Kudos for all the work you put these videos, they are very helpful! I am going to Santorini in a few weeks and I am a coeliac (I am allergic to gluten). Could you please make a video about where to safely eat in Santorini as a coeliac? I am sure there are a lot of people in my situation. Thank you!
Thank you! Great recommendation. I have a suggestion for a video: food to buy from supermarkets in Santorini for people who want to cook/prepare themselves. And also cheap wines from a supermarkets :)
Sébastien, thanks a lot for suggestions, but we also were disappointed by Fratzeskos tavern. We had late lunch there twice thanks to your recommendations, but couldn't use the beach for free as clients, they asked for 10 euro. It's not a problem to pay, but we had another expectation and only had an couple of hours before the flight and came to the tavern for that in purpose. I would say it's a typical mass tourism place. The grilled octopus was dry and hard to chew, it looked like it was prepared in advance. Fava was good, grilled fish was ok,nothing particular.
We ate at Fratzeskos for lunch today and the octopus was incredible. Also to note, they still charge 15 Euros to use the lounge chairs with umbrellas whether you eat there or not.
I absolutely love all your videos they are so helpful! I have a question though, we booked the morning catamaran boat cruise you had mentioned in another video. It ends at 2:45pm in Vlychada. So we were thinking of spending the rest of the day on that side of the island to visit the beach of Vlychada and/or Perissa, as well as having dinner there. You've mentioned Fratzeskos, Salty Bones, and To Steki Tou Psara. They all sound so good, however which one would you say is a must if we can only try out one? Or which two in case we visited that side of the island again during our stay? Also the app: free car is it used in Santorini?
Great videos and just subscribed! Going to Santorini in June 2023 -what’s your opinion of Ambrosia compared to the other restaurants you highlight? Have 2 dinner nights and thinking Metaxi would be one so I need a Caldera view restaurant. Thank you
Hi Sebastian, great video as always! Please can you advise on timings for sunset dinner? The 'sunset' time online is just after 8pm right now but does that mean the sun has already fully set or starts to set at this time? I want to make sure I eat dinner whilst looking at the beautiful orange/red sky sunset 😍 Would booking for 7pm be okay?
The "sunset time" you find on google is the exact time at which the sun disappears behind the sea and stops being visible. So plan you restaurant reservation 1h - 1h15 before that.
Hello Sebastian how are you? Please what is your opinion about Taverna Glaros in Akrotiri and Laurel and Hardy in Emporio and Raki? Do you recommend any places for lunch in this region around Akrotiri, Emporio or Megalochiori? Our Lunch would be between visiting Akortiri and Lost Atlantis. hugs.
Hi, Sebastian! I read that Greek law allows no more than 4 passengers per taxi. That being said, if a taxi fare to some of these spots are approximately 20 euro, is that per person or a single fare for 1 to 4 passengers? Love the videos! Will be visiting Greece in a few weeks on a custom tour that includes 4 days in Santorini.
Exactly what I was looking for. I already saw all the videos.. but one question..according to my research to go to the metaxi restaurant by bus , you can take the yellow line fira-kamari and get off at mesa-gonia stop and walk 10 min or I'm wrong. ..please help .. Thanks
What is the best cut of steak in Greece Sebastian?...Is it Rumo, Flank, Rib Eye, Fillet or something else? Also what Fish is the best to order off the menu?
I've never heard a Greek asking for a specific cut of steak or an off the menu fish. We just ask the waiter what he recommends, and we go with that :-)
Hi Sebastian: Is it possible to go from Kamari (that´s where we´ll be staying) to Perisa (we´d like to go to the first restaurant you recommended on this video)? Thanks a lot, you videos are great, and yes, I wish I found them earlier . . .
@@ShelleyMunday Yes there is a water taxi indeed, but it stops running in the late afternoon, so if you're going for dinner better dont count on it :-)
Are you sure the Kritikos Tavern is great? The Veal steak tastes like its been boiled first before putting into the grill. No grill flavour, dry and white rice was not cooked well. It tasted bland and the fun part is it was not busy at all.
Hi Sebastian...I have been watching your videos for quite sometime...I'll be visiting santorini in October. Can you suggest a economical restaurant in oia or fir a with sunset view. How to book them.any WhatsApp no. Thanks
You book them by calling them on their phone number (which you can find on google). There are 2 videos on my channel already regarding affordable oia restaurants, and caldera view restaurants in Fira.
I am living and working in Santorini the last 10 years and i can say that your video couldn;t be more acuurate
Those are delicious looking Greek dishes there Seb. Thanks for sharing your go to restaurants on the island!👍

Another great video Sebastian...do you have a video for ordering mezze platters yet? What would you recommend when ordering platters?
Hi Mike ! Not sure how to answer this one. Platters are fixed, you cant change their content, there's always a bit of everything.

Very touristy in my opinion. As are all caldera view restaurants in Oia. Thats why i prefer those in Fira Firostefani Imerovigli.
Prince in Kamari is our favourite. Been going to the island for 18 years
Can you please do best sunset restaurants (best view & food & price) in Santorini~ thank you!
Noted ! You will already find a few in the "best restaurants with caldera view" video ! ;-)
As always a great video. Coming in March, so off season for 5 days. Will most of the restaurants be closed ? We are adventurous eaters .
Yup the majority of restaurants will be closed in March. You can find a list of the open ones in this video : ua-cam.com/video/EhVQBOJLeyk/v-deo.html

Instead of Taverna Glaros, I would go ti The Cave of Nikolas.
Raki very nice.
Laurel and Hardy never been so I cant say.
You mentioned at the end that one should books several weeks ahead. We will be there in the middle of October. Will a week or less work at that time?
1 week should be enough, yes !
Hello Sebastian how are you?
What is your opinion of the Gia Mas restaurant in Kamari? you recommend?

A bit touristy in my opinion ... I prefer To Pinakio, Fistikies and Amelia.

- moussakas
- greek salad
- pastitsio
- gemista
- dolmades
- fries with tzatziki

Enjoy !
You can get the water taxi apparently. From the beach at Kamari I was reading this on the Santorini page on fb x

I explain that in this video : ua-cam.com/video/EhVQBOJLeyk/v-deo.html
How about a scooter as a mean of transport, would you recommend it?
Only if you're an experienced scooter rider.
Any good vegetarian restaurants? ☺️
The video will be out shortly !! :-)
How can I make booking 2-3 weeks before if I'm staying oversea though?
Of they have a website to book online, do it there. If not, call them, the country code of Greece is +30.
Where can I make reservations for these restaurants?
By phone
Would you advise taking a taxi to these restaurants?
Sorry, you answered that question.
If you dont rent a car, then yes
