His 'content' has gotten stale ever since he just became a full time dungeon and raid dude. When him and Ghosty were playing together they made videos that had heart and enthusiasm in them. i wouldnt hold my breath, if the BC launch doesnt meet or exceed the vanilla launch there is no way they will proceed.. and i think lots of people had their fill of nostalgia already
This is great content. I enjoy this. Can't wait for part 2. I was thinking to myself what are my top 3? You haven't mentioned any of them yet. So I'm excited to see where they each land on your list.
One of my favorite moments in my raiding career happened on the spider boss in Emerald Nightmare. The raid was dying off, maybe five people left, the boss on a sliver of health, me up in the air using wings as a ret paladin. Popped Avenging Wrath, divebombed the boss in combination with Blade of Justice... and it was a killshot. I slammed that boss into the GROUND. Whole guild cheered too... it looked absolutely epic from their viewpoint as well.
The consistent quality of raids is what keeps me coming back WoW honestly. A lot of other games do a lot of things better, but they really do have some fantastic group challenges.
@@Loomx5 raiding has always been the premiere activity in WoW imo. PvP and dungeons were fun but they constantly had to fundamentally morph how they worked throughout the years whereas raiding, outside of difficulty shifts and accessibility changes was still the same at its core.
13:35 Oh god, I remember this. My g/f and I had a 10-man guild and on Halfus literally her only job was to spam Wind Shear and interrupt him because since it was tuned to 25-man, the casts happened far too often. She wasn't even allowed to cast anything, cause she had to be dead-on with Wind Shear.
Another reason Emerald Nightmare is so disliked is because Legendaries had such a huge impact on performance. It felt awful being so far behind other DPS of the same spec just because you didn't high roll your first or second lego. Plus, as was the norm with Legion, tank balance was awful so there's that too.
I don't quite understand why Terrace of Endless Spring was below both Nyalotha and Eternal Palace when Mike seems to have only really positive things to say about ToES but quite mixed feelings regarding the two others. Is it simply because it's small? I personally think it sounds like it should've been after at least EP, maybe competing more with Uldir.
I thought the concept of Mount hyjal was neat, it was not so much a raid and it felt more like you were actually in a battle. Also for molten core, wasn't that raid made by like one guy in like a couple of days last minute?
For me personally, Emerald Nightmare had one of my favourite fights as a tank, and it's the Dragons of Nightmare, I mean, the tank mechanic is to have two huge ass fucking dragons switch positions, keeping in mind cleaving and tail swiping, with the extra caveat, that if you don't do it properly it's just an instant wipe. It felt so satisfying when it worked out after the first few pulls. I understand it being a bit on the weaker side for DPS and healers, but for me, one of the best.
Really surprised Trial of the Crusader hasn't been mentioned. I really enjoyed that raid but I've heard a lot of people hated it. Maybe it wasn't one Preach progressed on? Or maybe he really liked it for the Tribute to Insanity achievement that rewarded a mount. Curious to see where it ends up.
Yeah, that's the big one that I'm really surprised hasn't popped up yet. It was panned pretty heavily basically as soon as it came out. Also, I'm shocked he hasn't mentioned most of the single boss raids like Magtheridon's Lair, Gruul's Lair (ok, technically two bosses), Obsidian Sanctum, etc. He mentioned Ruby Sanctum so that was a single boss raid, but there's no way that Sartharion was better than any of the raids he listed here.
I really liked Trial. All of the bosses have something good going on with innovative ideas. No annoying trash you have to deal with. No long walks after a wipe and the best thing in my opinion is that the whole thing is extremely atmospheric and has a place in the story of the expansion. Why are we fighting those bosses? Because we try to determine the strongest champions who gonna be the vanguard for the siege of ICC. They are not just some random bosses standing in the middle of an empty room waiting for you to kill them with no apparent job other then being the evil guy. At the end it ties back into the overall story really nicely when the Lichking shows up, fucks the whole place up and gives you a real challenge. The whole tournament setup and environtment is also a nice contrast to the rest of the expansion which is all about death, grand schemes, big places and the bleak darkness and cold. Some whimsical to give you a moment to breathe. But the ending of the whole affair reminds you that there is no escaping the grip of the Lichking and that death is all around you in northrend. I can understand why people don't like the raid, it is definitely not something that should be used as a Prototype for other raids. But in the context of the expansion and the role it was meant to fill I think they did a fantastic job with it.
Preach is immensely biased on ToC. It was his second tier with Method and he was very close to clinching a world first in there. Personally I think the negatives far outweighs the positives, but at least some of the bosses in there were very good.
I really enjoyed this video but in my case as someone that mainly raided heroic and some mythic Antorus was the last raid that I genuinely enjoyed running each week (except sometimes Coven that boss got me so salty sometimes) either way it was really cool to hear your thoughts so far!
Now i really want to see the top 10! For me the best raid is Firelands, just because i have the best memories in this game in that time period. I had the must fun playing the game during rag so even when i know there are way better raids in terms of content, the memories i have can't be compared
Stuff like this is interesting, because your memories and experiences at the time heavily influence whether you liked objectively what could be considered a good boss or not. My guild at the time was SUPER toxic in WoD and tainted so much of what should have been a great raiding experience.
Back in the day UBRS, Strath & Scholo were my favorite "raids" because being a 14 year old kid, learning from these adults who were realtively much better at the game to me, was awesome! They taught me how to tank & OT, rotations, etc. It was great, I loved every bit of it.
One of the biggest factors in all of this is the people you are raiding with and the nostalgia you have for it. For me, my raiding and my favourite guild experience peaked in Firelands. It was such a shame Dragon Soul was so underwhelming, it really saw a lot of that guild crumble.
I have good memories of Tomb of Sargeras - I was so proud of my guild for making it to KJ mythic. We didn't down KJ, but just getting there felt like an achievement.
As someone who's been playing for 16 years and did original Naxx in 2006 (went 7/15), it's still my favorite raid of all time in terms of how epic it felt, thematics, and mood. Nothing else compares. That place ACTUALLY felt scary.
Best thing about Antorus, as a Warrior, popping all CDs, hopping into the pod and instantly oneshotting an entire wave of adds, aggroing the boss, resetting the encounter and getting kick from the raid. loved it.
As a HW during Vanilla and “hardcore” raider during TBC and WotLK what I will say is the role/class you played during raids will have a huge influence how much you enjoy a tier. Raiding as a mage during vanilla, even during the awesome BWL / AQ40 was pretty boring at times. I changed to healer at start of TBC all the way through to end of WotLK and I far more enjoyed all those bosses even the rubbish ones to even the awesome vanilla bosses. I actually felt pressure and played a major reason why bosses died as a healer.
Lmao 20 minutes into the video I'm like wait a minute why is this music on a WoW video so familiar? Then I realise it is actually Hades, good choice mate.
Oh, man. Who else clicked for part 2 and then was severely disappointed to find that it does not exist yet? ICC, TK, SC and Kara were my best times raiding. I am dying to know where Preach places them.
Defeating C'Thun and M'uru were things that i will always remember. They were both truly guild breakers. Overcoming them made our team so much better. The feeling "if we as a team were strong enough to overcome this challenge, we could literally face anything".
Gorefiend in HFC was actually a spectacular fight. The bad reputation comes from it being WAY more difficult than the earlier bosses, and a lot of the later bosses so it killed a lot of guilds. In my opinion Gorefiend was an awesome fight to progress.
Preach you're kappin for putting SoO in the bottom half. There are 2 times in WoW when I really felt like I saved the world. Arthas and Garrosh. One of the most epic environments in video games period.
Heh, the 2 you didn't play when they were current - Heart of Fear and Throne of Thunder - are the only 2 where I got cutting edge. HoF was bad, and ToT was fantanstic - in my top 3.
I like how ToT us praised by almost everyone, and it sucks that i never raided it when was current only doing transmo runs, and that was thanks to HoF. What a shitty, boring, and ugly raid imo. My entire raid group got sick of it, some took breaks until the next raid, some who still wanted to raid regardless look for another guild and the mayority including me took a break until the next expansion... Damn i hate HoF lol
Ruby Sanctum will always hold a special spot for me. Got a random whisper rather late on the first night it was out. Turns out friends are ok with you ditching them to try for world first when Midwinter asks for help. Still to this day I have no clue why they asked me, but after the first attempt I didn't screw up mechanically.
I want to hear Mike’s thoughts on mythic Denathrius, Sylvanas, Jailer, Raza, Sark, Fyrakk. I really want to hear more in depth thoughts on these fights on why he likes it or doesn’t on a per fight basis. Similar to how Max ranks the bosses in the raid after the race, but hearing it from Preach would be so good. Not overall raids but fights on a per fight basis in a raid.
I actually really, REALLY liked Mythic Gorefiend. It took us about 100 wipes with guild to do it first time. However, later on in the expansion I pug-raided on my Warlock alt, progressing it with some people and helping them out, and managed to kill him on it WITHOUT Voice Comms. Most proud moment of my WoW career.
Look at the hair coming in!... this is pretty exciting getting to watch the rebirth of his hair atm its like preach fuzz. My favourite raid is actually last raid of Legion I enjoyed most of the bosses yet my fav boss of all time is Mr Star Boy in Nighthold hah so many people hated him. I have a lot of nostalgia for ICC when I first started looking at raiding more seriously, pugging was so much easier back then.. The world was so alive and so many friends eager to do stuff in game, what a time it was.
I liked the art of Tomb of Sargeras so much that I didn’t mind the soaks, and I never did mistress/avatar/KJ on mythic so I have a fond memory of the place. When we read about the number of pulls top guilds had on those bosses my guild just called it a day.
Maybe a stupid question, but how do you get that b-roll for the background. i noticed at 33:17 you turn flying off. Is there like an emulator or private server for that?
They say in film a Masterpiece is a film with a handful of amazing scenes, and no bad scenes. I think that's why Antorus is so fondly remembered, Worldbreaker and Argus start and end the raid on high notes, with Argus being my all time favourite boss.
Also another comment to add, Crucible of Storms Mythic is probably one of the raids I'll be glad and happy for my team to have done and completed as world 9th alliance or something I recall? God, it was so much fun as Retribution to do. It felt good to kill the boss and I haven't had a feeling like that since the late 2000s.
"Just because there is a last, doesn't mean I hate, hate, hate it" 7 minutes later .... "Tomb of Sargeras was just a miserable experience." " I don't have good memories ... despite playing with some of the most fun people ever. F tomb. Awful"
I have such fond memories of Zul Aman. We had a group farming for the bears and I finally got mine a couple of weeks before it became unavailable at prepatch(I think?). It could just be the nostalgia, but I still hold TK, SSC and even Kara(my first ever raid!) really highly.
Gib part 2 naooow. Im hooked !. No seriously this video is really cool. That being said: please don't go back to being a "top 5" channel. But i love to see you love the game :D.
When I think of quintessential WoW experiences, Molten Core - Mount Hyjal - Sunwell all are cemented in my memory. They're in his worst 5. Easily could pick a single raid from each expansion from MoP onwards that trump these. Molten Core was raiding 101 for a new audience; Hyjal was the easier tier 6 progression option. Sunwell was the end raid and intended to be hard (in the same was Naxx was hard in Vanilla).
I have very fond memories of Zul'aman. It was basically the first fun 10-man raid I thought. I became good at leading pugs through it, but the mechanics were definitely a challenge for everyone. Many, many wipes.
the first tier of cata was my favorite . I did every boss in 10m, and progressed into a 25m heroic guild. I was the rogue that had to go into the portals on valiona and theralion. We were guild first valiona/theralion heroic kill. I always rock the defender of a shattered world title, because of how challenging that time was and how good of raiders i played with the achieve that. That was my prime as far as WoW raiding. Such good memories. its a shame it was so much more difficult than it should have been, 10m normal early cata was so difficult and broken.
“The bottom of the list aren’t bad they’re just the worst of the rads”
“This raid was absolute shit”.

Some people's been raidlogging ICC for the better part of a decade, its hilarious
I started retail on legion (was poor). I've played WotLK private servers for no less than 6 years. I can't wait for WotLK Classic on 2023.
@@dumpsterplayer5133 Warmane gang rise up
i wouldnt hold my breath, if the BC launch doesnt meet or exceed the vanilla launch there is no way they will proceed.. and i think lots of people had their fill of nostalgia already
Wow it’s almost as if there’s different people with different opinions!! What a crazy idea !!!
Love this kind of retrospective content... have really missed it since the Legacy videos stopped coming.
Whole guild cheered too... it looked absolutely epic from their viewpoint as well.
must have forgot trial of the grand crusader. hard to believe it would be ranked above some of these.
You know WoW raiding is good when there's 44 raids, and he already upgrades from "shit" to "hit or miss" by number 38.
Well they better, because they ruined everything else the game had to offer over the years outside of maybe some mythic dungeons
4:24 I love that you’re telling us about being a Priest whilst backwards-slo-mo falling into lava
My top5
1. Throne of Thunder
2. Ulduar
3. Nighthold
4. Blackrock Foundry
5. Karazhan
I thought the concept of Mount hyjal was neat, it was not so much a raid and it felt more like you were actually in a battle. Also for molten core, wasn't that raid made by like one guy in like a couple of days last minute?
Top videos are very cliché but damn, can Preach do make them look great. Absolutely loved this one. Can't wait for part 2.
God I hope he just forgot about it. Rating ToC above firelands, Tos, EP and honestly most other raids on that list would kill something inside of me.
The title does say "part 1" so chances are it will be in "part 2" ranked higher
These are the kinds of videos I like from preach.
Love these historic/compilation videos. Legacy of the Druid next! Please :)
The last time I was this early, Preach was baldarino.
Still is.
I really enjoyed this video but in my case as someone that mainly raided heroic and some mythic Antorus was the last raid that I genuinely enjoyed running each week (except sometimes Coven that boss got me so salty sometimes) either way it was really cool to hear your thoughts so far!
Love this! Makes me nostalgic for the Legacy vids of yesteryear.
That was probably the most enjoyable 43 min video i ever watched on YT , WTB part 2 thoooooooooo , am curious af
My favorite raid was nighthold. It was such a great conclusion to the Suramar
Your first bit of footage for UBRS at 29:47 is actually footage of Blackrock Depths.
was really curious where you would put crucible of storms, glad it got a little love :)
nice video
Great video, love the pacing.
26:34 I love how we all measure time and life events in WoW expansions/raids 😂
Cheers, Mike.
As someone who's been playing for 16 years and did original Naxx in 2006 (went 7/15), it's still my favorite raid of all time in terms of how epic it felt, thematics, and mood. Nothing else compares. That place ACTUALLY felt scary.
Best thing about Antorus, as a Warrior, popping all CDs, hopping into the pod and instantly oneshotting an entire wave of adds, aggroing the boss, resetting the encounter and getting kick from the raid. loved it.
Good choice with the Hades soundtrack as background music. Good, good choice.
Then I realise it is actually Hades, good choice mate.
i always enjoy hearing hardcore/longtime players takes and opinions on content
I enjoyed this video more than I expected ♥
It was an amazing fight. The feeling of finally getting it after 50+ attempts was amazing
18:37 Vezax? General Vezax from Ulduar? Do you mean Zek'voz or Vectis from Uldir?
More like Mythrax since they have similar models. It's pretty annoying trying to remember all those faceless names if you think about it.
I was gm/raid leader of Disconnected on Skywall Realm, the only guild on the server to full clear Sunwell. I feel your pain brotha lol.
Like the rankings. Top 10 Dungeons next?
I liked the art of Tomb of Sargeras so much that I didn’t mind the soaks, and I never did mistress/avatar/KJ on mythic so I have a fond memory of the place. When we read about the number of pulls top guilds had on those bosses my guild just called it a day.
Stop looking for a list and watch this mans video!
Gottem
I feel called out! Hahaha
Ready for part 2 now, please!
Awesome vid man.
The hair is coming in nice preach, kind of encourages me to go get it done for myself
Have you done the sunwell though? 😉
I have amazing memories of soloing the Sunwell with my girlfriend. Great times.
"Just because there is a last, doesn't mean I hate, hate, hate it"
7 minutes later ....
Good video! I gave it a like even though I really don't agree with some of the placements :P
I have very fond memories of Zul'aman. It was basically the first fun 10-man raid I thought. I became good at leading pugs through it, but the mechanics were definitely a challenge for everyone. Many, many wipes.
bro your hair is popping off!, nice to see the results now :D
the first tier of cata was my favorite .
Preach, do you ever plan to do more class guides? I feel you managed to explain them best and haven't seen one for a while now, we all miss them!
Trial of Valor was a brilliant raid. Glad this video made me think of it again - I remember loving the Odyn fight!
I have done Mythic Kil'jaeden recently with a friend and can only ask: How diid people do this in Legion?
I loved Hyjal just because it was actually outside for once!
I don’t even play anymore (just not time for it) but I still love to watch your videos.
