I absolutely love the Platypods... They are quite the lifesaver as Scott says. Yes it may be one of the most expensive chunks of metal you buy but they are worth every penny, especially if you do travel photography. I used to carry a tripod with me when I'd do photo walks during my travels (I still bring one with me in my luggage bag, just in case bu I don't usually carry it around) but since getting the Platypods I don't use the tripod very much, partially because the Ultra is so light you can store it anywhere and it's very small, less hassle to deal with and in some cases, I feel that having a camera on a small thing like the Platypod can be more stable than using a tripod (particularly if it's windy).

I have nikon d850 and taking 20mm 1.8 to hawaii...would the ultra be able to hold this or do i need the max?

It depends on your lens, Ultra can handle lenses up to 900 grams.

you have that heavy lens angled back in the video. I am assuming if you were using say... a 90mm macro lens angled down, the platy couldn't support it ???
