I use this w/ the Edelkrone tilt head. Flat and pocketable setup. Accomplishes the low flat angle u were alluding to also.

Small tripods hold longer lenses and are easier to set up.

I have the original (?) Pro model, with a case and BE-117. It has both stud sizes, but you can't attach a camera directly, as they're both fixed to the plate; but I agree, direct attachment would be great. The new models have the slot for a strap, which is a great product improvement.

You should review the Decade tripod base, which is an improvement IMO and cost less.
We all need to avoid spending too much!

Looks like a knock-off. I’d rather support the original inventor, which is a really small company.

wow..they want $60 for this thing?! i have a better solution...use the Joby Gorillapod for almost half the price and you will have a lot more flexibility. this one fails for me.

the Manfrotto pixi evo is set up much faster, more versatile, light and stable, fits in every camera bag and is half the price. you could also tie it to various objects with velcro or straps. these are the reason why the big camera stores in germany don't sell this platypod (anymore). its just not practical if you always have to build up the ballhead, spikes etc...and withe the accessories and the ballhead it will take at least the same space in your bag as a pixi or a small gorilla pod for mirrorless. So as long as you don't nail it to a wall it seems like a big waste of money!

Only up to 2.5 kg vs. 300lb for Platypod, can't be attached to rock or other objects

novoflex minipod nf3320 is at least 100x better than this platy.

Tell me again how you'd attach that to a tree, or to the top of a chair like I just did with the platy? The Novoflex looks cool, and is different, but but better.

...there is a Novoflex Mini Connect (MC) professional quick-release set to use it together with a strap. not a big deal. just a little more creativity needed, but doable.
