This is not really an honest review. This is an infomercial. I own a Platypod. I like it; however, it is not all roses and gumdrops. Every shot in this video which shows you how portable and convenient this unit is, is shown without a ball head. You really need a ball head for this. Do you run around with a tripod without a head, of course not. You leave the head on. With the ball head on, the platypus is considerably less convenient. If you need to level your platypod, the little screw legs are not quick or easy to use. You could leave them on but that would make it more difficult to pack. I'm not going to return my platypod, but to be honest a decent table top tripod is probably a better option.
I love the idea of this Platypod ultra because I have the starting of Parkinson and my hands shake and therefore it would make my photos shake free. Thanks for sharing this with me and others, I hope in the near future I can get this but have to save for it first. Thanks again for sharing.
Great video Larry. I was wondering how to get the ultra to accept a RRS ball head that say is smaller than the BH55, like maybe the 40. How would you go about adapting that 3/16 to make it work on a 1/4 20?
Thanks for your video. I own a Canon 1 DX Mark II, 5D m IV and EOS R with EF and RF lenses. What would you recommend between the Max and the the Ultra? Recently I use the EOS R more than then other two. Thanks, Stefano
If you want to play it safe and max sure you're stable no matter what camera you're working with, you'll probably want to go with the Max. You'll have more surface space for the camera to brace against.
Whilst watching your video I had a bit of a 'Lightbulb' moment.. I thought 'Mm? I wonder if by using the strap, I could mount the Platypod onto the front of my mobility scooter?'

What if I attach a leveling base directly to the that thing?

Great vidoe and great device. It's really too bad that you can't fit a 1/4 20 ballhead, that most peolple have to the Platypod Ultra. Bummer.

You should compare this to the Decade tripod plate. I prefer the Decade, and not just because it's half the price.

Whoops, thought this was a review, had I known it was an ad, I would have moved on along.
How about bottle opener!
Like the strap.
Volume is too low
Nah, I will stick with my Pedco Ultrapod II thanks
novoflex minipod nf3320 is at least 100x better than this platy.
