"Hormone blockers" such as puberty blockers, are 100% harmless and 100% reversible. They are often used in medical contexts OUTSIDE of trans children - sometimes, children with developmental delays or intellectual disabilities are given them. In the case of trans children or children showings signs of gender dysphoria, puberty blockers gives them more time to emotionally mature and explore their emotions / identity so that they can make a fully informed decision about their body and identity.
They just do 0 research and confuse hormone blockers with hormone replacement therapy. Some people literally don't start puberty until they're 16 or older, naturally, so why is it a bad thing to give kids questioning their gender more time to think? Also, if hormone replacement therapy is sooooo bad, then why would puberty blockers be a bad thing since it's delaying a kid's naturally occurring hormone production? Like if we're really arguing that hrt "ruins kid's bodies" maybe we should bring up how puberty in general "ruins kid's bodies." But no transphobe is educated enough to understand that so we're left with laughably easy arguments to refute.
@@therealfirelord3359 I was like 14 when I got into boy puberty, and doctors at the time were already worried there was a hormonal problem because on the scale of averages, I was pretty late.
I have gotten the question sometimes if I didn't notice sooner I was trans for seriously hating having to shave, and I had to tell those people that I only had to start shaving when I turned 18, not because of having such a huuuuge beard, but because there were 3-4, weird, long blonde hair sticking out of my chin and I found out I was trans about a year later.
People in general do not believe me when I tell that....

I had secretly suspected/hoped I was intersex and would never get it, but when it happened I felt like maybe it would make all my trans feelings go away, and I could start being "normal." Instead that's when my depression got really fucking bad, I did the typical transmasc huge sweats and baggy tshirts thing, tried to ignore my body as much as possible, started hated anything feminine. I would have seriously benefited from education on trans issues and puberty blockers. Since I didn't even start to look super feminine until I was 18 anyway, it literally wouldn't have done anything, not even make me shorter as I'd reached my full height at 13. Like I do not understand why transphobes think this is such an important hill to die on.

well, there are people with XXYY instead of XY (biological male) and biological females have XX (typically, although you can also have triple X or other deformities) so you could ‘have male and female chromosomes’ in a sense. kind of. not really

My mom was rather anti LGBTQ (bi isn’t real, trans people are confused, etc.) but me and her lesbian friend helped teach her and she’s very positive about the community now, so I think your brother can change too :). Also I recently found out my brother thinks he may be bisexual, so now we can talk about both! Again, I hope your brother can learn, improve, and accept who you are :)

Ok, so I can relate to it being a reasonable thing, but by these people bringing it up around this subject, it puts transgender people in a much different place, and suggests our only goal is to have new legislation in place so that we can have a legal basis to abuse children/women and not get prosecuted for it.
(Which is obviously stupid, sexually abusing people is already illegal and none of these laws is going to change that).

its usually referring to the two binary sexes, not gender. you can be bi and feel attracted to more than two genders. also words change meaning over time

I dont remember if it was in sex ed or before we talked about genes and stuff but we had these 2 really conservative girls in our class and our biology teacher held a big ass speach basically saying trans rights over and over again . She shut everybidy down it was amazing

@@peskypigeonx i think you can feel the other opposite gender than what you are born as or non-binary at any age, you feel how you feel, and age doesn't matter on what you feel, but most of the time they are just under the age limit for blocking the hormones bc its usually 16+, atleast for the stuff i have seen

@@silessoros I'm not trans so I'm not an expert but from what I understand you can take supplements that block your body from producing hormones. So if you are ftm (female to male) it would stop your body from producing estrogen. If you are mtf (male to female) it would stop you from producing testosterone. You can also get an implant in your arm that is a hormone blocker similar to the nexplanon implant that is a common form of birth control.
