Great tutorial. I am a newer quilter so I appreciate the time you spend covering all the basics on how to follow a pattern. I find that the most challenging, so please continue on your sew-alongs. I also appreciate all the cutting and pressing tips. Can you share approx how many hours it took to cut /sew the quilt top? That would be helpful in project planning.
I like to clip the concave curve in several spots, pin the two pieces together in the center and the two pieces just lay so nicely when you stitch, no pulling on that curved seam.
I made this quilt for my granddaughter and it was my second quilt that I had ever made. I made some huge mistakes but it still turned out so cute. I love this pattern. Thank you for all of the wonderful videos!!
Good video. I think I’ll make this. I’ve never used those papers, but I inherited a bunch of them and have some from subscription boxes. Looks simple enough. Thanks.
I giggled when you said "Relay Race with your sewing machine" 😂. Love Triangles on a Roll, and love patterns from FQS. Not sure how I missed this one--thanks for sharing and demonstrating.
I discovered your channel today. I don’t know why it took so long. I learned some new tips and I want to make this quilt! Thank you. I am a new subscriber.
I just found your channel snd so glad i did! I will definitely put this pattern on my to do list. I love your choice of fabric as well. Thanks for sharing!
Great video! Love your tips and explanations. I don’t have 7” HST papers, but I do have 6”, so I’ll just make smaller blocks and adjust the numbers to make an appropriate size quilt. This would be fabulous for donation quilts for kids and hospice! I think I’ll also eliminate the small triangles to simplify for another version. Just snowballed print rectangles and background rectangles to make the units and then rotate as per pattern. I’m curious…what brand/where did you get your oiling stiletto? I’ve just subscribed and look forward to following. Thank you, and stay well! Muskoka ON 🇨🇦
Thank you for this tutorial! It is really a great looking quilt and I will be adding to my list of todo projects..cuz 200 projects in my brain is not enough!,❤I even like watching the speed sewing😂
Those papers look like they make more work. I dont know if i will invest in the papers. I want to make this quilt but i have to rethink some things. Great video tho
Sure thing. They are 7.5 half square triangles un finished. Cut in half. Stitched back together then trimmed to 7 inch squares. Then Stitched to make the block.
Thank you Kelly!! I enjoy your channel and this quilt is pretty and looks more complicated, but your tutorial is going to help!! 😃. What is the white mat on your sewing table? I am interested in it for my sewing area. 😅. I see you cutting on it and it looks thin and protective. Thank you again!! 🤗
Thank you! I made the fabric bowl on the table is that what you are taking about? I need to do a tutorial on that. Several people have asked me about it :) -Kelly
If you would, angle your camera a different way. It almost looks like it's upside down for me. You may not be able to but if you could it would be great if you could have it coming straight down instead of at the angle you have it in this video. This looks like such a fun pattern I can't wait to try it. thank you for the tutorial.
Thank you ! Ive tried mounting it on the table, but the vibration is too much for my camera. Maybe someday I can afford to replace it with something nicer, but as of today its just my phone. -Kelly
Sure thing here is a link for this size tinyurl.com/PickinStitches7inch I find that if I only had one size Id want the h-300 size on this site. Hope that helps :) And if you look I use Triangles on a roll a lot. You can look at the Peaceful basket videos to see more on it. -Kelly
If you make HST any of the traditional ways you dont need them. Just a short cut for beginners and people who might not want to be so attentive on the cutting.

I made this without the paper, you can cut out as directed and then trim down the final half square triangles - that’ll give you more accurate blocks but waste a bit of fabric. I did a little math and cut the print and background fabric squares to the correct size for HST needed.
I did Layer 2 at the end. But so many newbies can be lead astray if we make it look too easy to layer them. But experienced people are pretty careful when layering.

Very nice 😊

You can totally make them with out thr paper, I just like the speed and lack of attention to detail. Lol. It sounds like a good plan!
I don't know if it is me, I feel like I am upside down while you are cutting. Glad for the demo.. 😊
Oh no! Sorry! I'm always swapping things around. The camera is usually points down just infront of me.

Great for beginners but waaaay too much work for an experienced seamstress. Chain stiching would speed things along too.
Some people love them some not so much. It helps beginners a lot and those of us who rush, lol :)
Cute pattern...
Thank you! It was fun:)

I love this quilt and I especially love the fabrics you chose. Is it from a particular fat quarter bundle?
Thank you! The fabric came from a Prectus Box earlier this year. I know its Art Gallery, but Im not sure past that.

This was a FQ group from Art Gallery it was part of the Precuts box from April I think.

Many we see your longarm machine? And what type is it. I've been looking at the grace
I have never used paper in quilting. Would love to see more of this in the future. Do you have a link for it?

If you cut the rectangle in half first you can use the 12 in ruler for all the trimming.
Yes! But then you have more cuts. It's 6 one way 1/2 a dozen the other. Whatever works best for you:)
-Kelly
what material line are you using? its beautiful.
Art Gallery. It is so bright and happy!
-Kelly
What is the benefit of using triangle paper rather then stitching with no paper? Thank you
I'm with you, why spend the money on the paper. I thought sewing on paper or cutting paper dulls your blades or needles. I could be all of base.
If you make HST any of the traditional ways you dont need them. Just a short cut for beginners and people who might not want to be so attentive on the cutting.
My least favorite thing to do is audition on the design board! Thanks for the tutorial!
My daughter likes to help! She did most of this one to start. I have a video coming up shortly where my daugher and a friend put up all my blocks and arranged them dispursed the colors, and all I had to do was a tiny bit of tweeking. It was fabulous!

Can you tell me an alternate way for this pattern without using triangle paper ? Too pricey for me and lots of extra work and time. Pretty pattern.
Maybe HSTs & cut in half.
I made this without the paper, you can cut out as directed and then trim down the final half square triangles - that’ll give you more accurate blocks but waste a bit of fabric. I did a little math and cut the print and background fabric squares to the correct size for HST needed.
Yes! Just 7.5 inch HST. There are many ways to make them, the paper is just one of them :)
I could not find the link to the paper piecing triangles. Where did you get them? Thank you
Sorry! Here you go.
tinyurl.com/PickinStitches7inch
I'll add it to the video notes.
-Kelly
I would never use the paper for making HSTs. That's a waste of paper for me.
I would like to make this pattern.
That's the beauty of it! We can do this so many different ways!
I would have like to see how to make one block
Not how to cut more than one
Thanks for the feedback.
Whoever cut more than one block at a time together, you know, liar and cut fabric
I did Layer 2 at the end. But so many newbies can be lead astray if we make it look too easy to layer them. But experienced people are pretty careful when layering.
Your camera angle is very awkward to watch...
Im so sorry, it can be challenging to avoid vibration and find somwhere to mount it.
