If I may add a tip for the initial cutting of fat quarters. If you are cutting two at a time lay the pairs right sides together, then cut the strips. That way once they are cut they are all ready to be stitched together. Whatever the size of your strip it will be the same size to cut the rows once the strips are pieced together. I just made a small quilt with 1-1/2” strips.
Wonderful tip! Thank you!
What a great idea! I haven't heard that before. Definitely going to try that next time.
I just found your channel. You give awesome instructions for a quilting newbie like me. (so far I can only call myself a pretty fabric hoarder) And thank you for the free patterns! I really think I can begin my first quilt now (at age 75! I am a late bloomer LOL)

Hi Jeanie! Welcome! Thanks so much for watching and subscribing ☺️
Nice pattern! For a quick tip when using your long ruler to cut, I put a 5 pound dumbbell on the far end of my ruler and it holds it in place while cutting with no shifting! Works great.
I really appreciate all your help with the patterns. People that has no experience will truly like the info. The free patterns are wonderful also while learning. Thank You Barb 😊

I'm, new to quilting. This, may be a silly question. But, after your strips are sewn together. And, you cut it into strips again. What, keeps your seams together. When, you cut across them. After, they are already sewn together. Thanks
The thread from the first step of sewing the strips together will keep the seams together. In sewing, usually you backstitch first but that's not necessary for quilting. All of the seam edges will eventually be sewn into other seams which creates a sort of lock so they don't come undone. Also a short stitch length will help things stay together while you are in the process of assembling the quilt! I hope that makes sense.
@@HaileyStitches Thank you! For, answering me. Yes! That, makes sense. Thanks again
Do you pre wash and/ or starch the fat quarters?
I don’t prewash or starch. If you starch make sure the fat quarters are a tad larger than 18” or else the shrinkage may cause you to not have enough fabric for this pattern.
