Hey Johnny, before you start stating that as fact that I've made stuff up please point people to the part which is made up. I'd love to know where that is.
We used it at an old insane asylum here in Louisiana a couple years ago. This place was shut down 82 years ago so it was my best candidate for our experiment. It took a while and I was just about to the point of writing off the kinect idea when out of the connecting room we started hearing the sound of paper rubbing across the floor. And exactly how you would expect to see it in a movie, the paper slides into the hallway we are in and sure enough, on the kinect, you see this stick figure standing at the piece of paper looking down at it. I don’t know if I was more scared or excited to see it working. Then this entity walks past us, goes up the wall to being upside down walking on the ceiling and back out the room. It was shocking to be there and see this in person. Oh, and yes, the air suddenly got real noticeably cold as it passed us. I’ll never forget it. I know what I experienced and this guy truly believes it doesn’t work but I know beyond any doubt, it most certainly does!!!
Great video and very well explained! I just recently asked how the SLS was able to "see" 1 person through another. I got told I was too stupid to understand then my comment was deleted. Guess I'm not so stupid after all! Haha. Common sense was obviously too triggering 🤣 Thank you Mr. Grey

Truly amazes me how many people believe the crap channels who have 100K plus subs, while the real paranormal investigators are usually 50K and under. Truly amazing 🙄
@@johnenglish6121 When his wife was wrenched from the bed by her feet it was obvious that someone off camera was present and crossing the length of the foot of their bed before grabbing her feet and yanking, because the the obvious shadow of the person doing it can be seen on the left wall!
I'd say the reason he sleeps in the lounge room has little to with portals suddenly appearing in walls or fishing line on pulleys tossing around pieces of furniture, but instead it's because she's sick of his antics and has told him to move the operation away from the place where she goes to sleep.
Also, isn't it conspicuously odd that almost always in every channel's video that whenever poltergeists start throwing things about it's never the toppling of the Louis the XIV, gold gilt framed antique mirror we see smashed into a billion expensive pieces, landing upon their 14th century Balsa wood sideboard bearing their priceless collection of antique ships in bottles and the flying fragments utterly obliterating their Ming dynasty jade teapots (as seen on Antiques Roadshow)?
Instead what we're likely to see thrown about is always a tin of home-brand beans (weakly) from the cupboard to the lino, or some unbreakable garden furniture, oddly sitting inside the kitchen, bouncing slightly under the majority effects of gravity, or plastic cups and bowls from the 99c shop sliding form a bench to the floor which never, ever, hit anything hard enough to leave a bond impacting dent or any damage requiring a visit from repairing tradesmen or causing any other type of damage which might, in any way, lessen the value of the property's resale value, (or see it burn down)?
Never used a kinect thing, only really seen it on these "ghost" videos. Figured it was some easy over lap schinanigans, but pointing out the lack of an x-ray ability, makes absolute sense.

I remember in the beginning, it looked pretty real. Until he started working with the sls. Suddenly I noticed that his shadow is not correct, in those videos. I once asked him how it is possible that his shadow does not match with the light and with his movements in the movies with the sls camera. When you see it, you'll immediately know what I mean. But of course I get no answer.
Now that i have seen this i finally understand how it works. You are the first to explain it logically.
Great video, the SLS was one of the more fascinating tools used in the ghost hunting videos I've watched. On creating the "effect", if the background of the Kinect output video has a near black or white background, you could even just use blend modes (Multiply or Screen) and don't even need to colour key, that wouldn't have visible blocky or blurred edges. Even with a dark grey background like we got here, I'd do some slight contrast via Levels to make the background black, then use Screen to compose.

The SLS was first used to “track ghosts” on the show Ghost Adventures. That alone should make people question it’s validity. The fact that you have to even explain this to people hurts my brain.
You did a really good job brother. Totally nailed them to the wall. Though I do know how the true believers are gonna see it. They'll just say, "well the human eye can't see the ghost, but the camera can and then it's sending that data to the SLS and then the SLS puts the figures up according to the data its getting from the camera. So they don't have to be visible. And figures CAN cross because they aren't in the same light spectrum as the human within the shot."

In that case, the captured videostream of the sls would show the ghost. Because it would show the light wavelength-part that our eyes cannot see and would make it visible together with the stick-figure. That just is the reason, why ghosthunters use IR-Cams, because they hope to make the invisible visible. With that Kinect-Footage, they have made themselves ridiculous. They show IR-Footage of a Kinect-Stickman without the ghost itself, that should be visible in the IR-Film.

Great video although I can already hear the counter argument that while the camera doesn’t have x-ray vision the ghost it’s showing is invisible so in that instance it does.
I’m always amazed how “ghost hunters” will preform mental gymnastics without any sort of proof without actually attempting real tests or evidence. They make the most illogical leaps to keep their very unproven idea alive. To me this shows a willing ignorance or a flat out lie.
I don't know about this argument. Two solid objects being tracked will lose track if one goes behind the other, but with one being transparent wouldn't that be different. I doubt Xbox has ever experimented with that. Now I'm not saying Lee is real because we all know it isn't. I'm just saying two solid people versus one solid and one transparent might make the SLS act differently.

That was a bloody brilliant debunking video, Dan. Now that you showed it, it's completely obvious in the original videos. The SLS is no magical camera to see the unseen, it just films what is there. And only in one layer... for two different figures overlapping it needed to have a second lense, somewhere else in the room to get a 3D shot.

Your argument is valid. However, the Kinect's "ghosts" are not physical beings; they are anomalies in how the device processes visual data. Since we can see through them, the Kinect likely detected the actual person behind the anomaly. Therefore, saying the Kinect shouldn't detect a person behind a "ghost" isn't entirely accurate, as these "ghosts" are transparent or only detectable outside the visible light spectrum, yet can still be processed by the Kinect.
i wonder if you have footages or instances where it can detect the "ghost" behind an actual person? i don't think so.

LOL... I remember Zak from Ghost Adventures say a ghost was "sitting in a dolls lap" when his new SLS formed the stick figure of a doll sitting in a kid-sized chair... That scene was deleted, and the doll, and the kid-size chair, were never seen again in future shows of the same location (one of the hotels in Nevada's Virgjnia City).

Thanks Dan, I really enjoy these kind of videos and the way you explain it (you know I'm not a science person🤓) without me falling asleep. Like I said before, how on God's green earth does the SLS kinect find a ghost/poltergiest/demon that doesn't have a fricking skeleton! Ghost Adventures has a lot to answer for putting this idea into people's heads.
But according to Ghost Adventures, it's "undeniable evidence" 😂😂
It's funny how 99.9% of GA's "undeniable evidence" rely on devices that constantly produce false positives and easy contamination.
Another example is the spirit box for instance, why do they always rely on it to sweep over stations and not just white noise?
The simple answer? Because they would never get any voices, unless it was from CB radio frequencies or the like.

Yo my favorite UA-camr .love your debunking videos . Did you go on any ghost hunts ? I wish I still lived in my childhood house with was really haunted . My uncle hung himself and the house was haunted . Lots of unexplained occurrences . Full blown apparitions. That house would make u a believer . I was 17 I am now 53 so it's a long time ago my high-school girlfriend would stay over alot my Mom was cool with it . One summer they went away and my house had a pool so I had parties all the time. WE HAD a bathroom in the basement so nobody would track water through the house . My best friend at the time went to use the bathroom and asked me who was the guy wearing a suit standing by the pool table ? I went looked and saw nobody but all the pull chains for the lights were all swinging back and forth all 5 lights. Thought not much of it and continued to have a good time . That night me and my girl went to bed and I was awakend by a blood curdling scream my girl was sitting straight pail white and telling me a man with a suit was standing at the end of the bed and walked into the closet . I loaded my 12 gage shotgun and opened the closet but nobody was there and I new who it was from the earlier incident down the basement .I lived there 19 years and there is a ton of paranormal shit that went on . Ghost , sprits and angels are real in my opinion . Too much shit happened in that house 🏠. Anyway I hope you find out for yourself . By the way never ever felt threatened my uncle was a good man just couldn't handle his piece of garbage wife cheating on him .

I think that’s the best presentation you’ve given on how SLS cameras work plus how the tracking data is cut and pasted into other footage.
I’m still trying to get my head around how something invisible to the naked eye or with no discernible displacement might interact with infrared. It probably can’t but I’ll let that go for now.
I’ve used a laser grid where there was no dust or bugs in the field and have seen something flicker or distort the grid. Now I can’t swear on a stack of bibles it wasn’t a bug so I’m not making any claim here. Just sayin’

I don't disagree with the principle of what you are saying... The kinect cannot see a person behind a person but a spirit isnt a person and doesn't have a body. You cover yourself by saying that to track an object the kinect must be able to "see" it ... Thats definitely not true... Anyone who has used a kinect will know that it just randomly startes tracking things that aren't there, especially the early models. I know the really haunted bloke is fake, you are 100% correct about that... But the kinect can and does glitch out and occasionally track nothing... It will also start tracking door frames and chair legs
I asked a question to really haunted about the sls/Kinect, how come we can see his outline but not his wife’s when they’re in the bed side by side, I never got a reply, I wasn’t rude or anything, I was genuinely asking is that what happens, it can’t pickup her body, or the dog which seemed odd to me!?
I have wondered for a while, the thing that made me really question it was today after his Alexa spoke back & said “your Priest won’t be able to help you” I thought NO, that’s too direct, it’s not a vague statement, it seemed the “ghost of Vlad” knows how to talk like day to day conversation…I thought no, you’ve lost me there!

There's a way in the Kinect seeing that you can make the background white instead of black and that makes it easier to get rid of the rough edges when layering the videos. I learned that on a skeptical ghost hunters video but I don't remember the name of the channel

However, these are the most fascinating to me. From your debunk videos, I’ve learned how to spot the “bullshitery” that the OP’s use to make their content look “real”. It bugs the 💩 out of me that these creators lie & say that their captures are 💯% REAL & rake in thousands of dollars 💵 from viewers off false pretenses.

Thank you for explaining this. I don’t have an SLS but often wonder why are so many using it? If it is designed to pick up something physical and if you believe ghosts/spirits/dimensional beings etc are energetic, non physical beings than what is the point? I mean sure looks interesting and makes for an interesting story, but definitely not proof of the paranormal. After all not like anyone knows what frequency actually works. If they did would already be proven with tons of evidence. Another reason I appreciate The Ouija Brothers, they say outright they use different types of equipment but even they question how accurate or effective is the equipment.
If you pay close attention while filming you can actually see the pixels moving before the ghost appears or manifests. You'll see movement and a slight shadow before kinect even picks it up or before you see movement of an object
The newer ones probably come with some kind of program that you can make up pictures like that with multiple stick figures

I know in my heart that ghosts and poltergeists are real and that is from my personal experience (and no I was not on LSD, that day). As one with a sure comprehension of the spiritual plane I have no respect for people creating their content with the express intent of deceiving the inquisitive for profit.
I would like to make a suggestion to you, Mr.Grey.
If you were to present to the world the occasional video of your own ghost hunting expedition to one of the various locations around your local area and beyond, I daresay that over time you'd amass an increasing following, even if you were to return 99 times out of 100 with nothing to show, other than your efforts, because your proven honesty has already garnered the respect of the 'online supernatural researching aficionado community' which, no doubt, would observe your explorations with confidence enough to know that when the 100th video appeared, declaring within something potentially paranormal to display, there would be no question as to whether or not it was a genuine example, and that is the type of street credit the contemporary online paranormal channel realm sorely requires, someone like you to bring to us who know the truth a real and actual example of the supernatural in action, (should you ever be fortunate enough to come across and record such a thing), because we can observe your findings with the surety that you are not going to sell out your credibility as an honest human being by creating falsehoods merely for a few quick bucks, (which still equates to the destruction of a quality with a value far beyond the material and too esteemed in the scheme of things to throw away for mere money, despite the proliferation of shonks daily seeking to prove to everyone otherwise!)

@@chirpywiggins5796 I believe in ghosts and can say that in my entire life I've seen one single instance of an object moving without anyone being there to do it and I've actually seen a bodily apparition on three occasions at the most in my nigh on 55 years on this plane. None of these times did I have a camera and even if I had the wherewithal to have had one hanging around my neck, primed and ready to shoot, would I have had the presence of mind to break from the incredibly stunning shock of the moment to actually start snapping, so rare in my estimation are the actual instances in which the spiritual world makes itself manifest to eye of the living human being.
It's this incredibly frequent and routine proliferation of red eyed shadow heads peering from around doorways which show up these channels for what they truly are.

Very nice! I hate when I'm watching something and they pull out the 'ol SLS camera! 🙄 I'm here to watch them be overly dramatic and the bad acting and the EVPs that sound exactly like them (ghost adventures, mostly).
If you binge watch ghost adventures [like I do] you can hear the exact same scream and whispers sound file used in multiple episodes. Especially in older ones before they had all their travel channel money
I tried ghost tube to try and see how it works etc bcos I didn't believe it, and a tiny stick figure appeared the same size and in front of a zoflora bottle 😂 it was moving about and dancing too, like it was a living thing.
Also the stick figure is dead cute on dogs and does the same shape on my small kitchen bin 😂 it's a load of bollocks

It makes me feel really bad for Really Haunted. There has been times where he's been hurt and his wife means he's doing it to himself. Self harm is not really entertainment and maybe he's hurt the cat too as there were cat scratches on his neck once.

I reckon the time he was struck on the head (by what may well have been a sheet of polystyrene anyway) was merely a very convincing looking error in timing which conveniently served to garnish a reputation for authenticity well above and beyond what they'd otherwise have had in their initial few episodes should the thing have missed his head completely, so I wouldn't feel to bad for him.
As for his wife being wrenched out of the bed, I don't think she was expecting that at all and it might explain why he sleeps either alone or on the couch these days.

You know i believe he may have ghosts but not convinced by the stick figure. The insanely loud banging seems insane, but i am open to it. One thing i do find odd is his wife never participates in the ghost atuff. Im sure ahe could be scared etc, but it would make things more convincing

Yeah, they're going on the assumption that it's tracking "movement" that can't be "seen." The problem is, that's not how vision or the SLS works, like Dan said. 🤣 Either there's something for photons to hit, and to reflect them, resulting in a "visible" _and_ trackable presence... or there isn't. They don't get to have it both ways. 🙄

with the sls demo when they switch places one get obstructed because there's two physical people. but what if one figure was physical and the other figure is invisible/non physical state and get in front of each other would the sls/kinect still obstruct one or would it show both? after all the skeleton that's there is nonphysical with no mass/atoms. with real people one skeleton will block the other from view cause one solid person is in front of another solid person. but I wouldn't think the skeletons will be obstructed if one object is sold and the other is not, like gases.

Ever since Paranormal Activity 4 came out, Paranormal Investigators get tingles and jingles over the SLS camera scenes.
The movie shows the actual IR grid SLS cameras emit to track an asset in 3d space. As somebody who has some working knowledge of VFX and 3d rendering, this is not a hard effect to achieve in the movie to make a ghost appear out of thin air. It still requires a talented VFX artist, which is not cheap. That's why I think ghost hunters do not use this aspect of the SLS cameras capability to show ghost activity. It's much quicker and cheaper to animate a janky stick figure in Blender.
Let's suspend disbelief for a moment and consider the following. SLS cameras operate in the infrared range specifically. They are designed to find anything that looks like a human body, rig a skeleton to that body, and animate the skeleton the way IT thinks that body is moving.....regardless of how the body is actually moving or if there is a body there at all to begin with. If it has to guesstimate, so be it. Anybody else see a problem here?
Bottom line, this technology can't function beyond the way it is physically designed to. It cannot pickup extra-dimensional data from beyond the ether. It's like saying my 2003 Buick can reach speeds of 900 mph and can even fly. No, it can't.
That doesn't stop charlatans from breaking out the ol' flea circus to make a quick buck though. They prey on the unsuspecting and ignorant. That's why, now more than ever, critical thinking and intense scrutiny of corruptible concepts are important. I'm not saying question everything, I'm saying don't believe it. Objective reality comes from a process of intense review. Dismissing that process trickles down to more and more absurd thinking. Don't make the mistake of thinking only is it too late when the kool-aid cup is empty.
