Has Michael crossed the threshold into Lego? Did Indiana Jones pull him in with the new 2023 Lego sets? Or was it just a specific minifig? Find out! - Комедії
“So why did you change your mind on the legos?”
Micheal: “the gloves…” 😂
Michael: "Lego is a slippery slope, I need to keep an eye on my..."
eBay: Purchases Successful!
Michael: ... dammit...
the fact that the hands of the minifig make it for you specifically gets you my respect as a Lego fan.
Must admit. Saw a Red Dwarf LEGO set someone did and were it to receive mass production, I'd cave. Wonderful production as usual, Michael.
If it's the same one I've seen, it's a nice prototype. I think it was on Lego Ideas, but didn't quite make the cut. Unless this is a new attempt?
@@DoctorInk20 Nope. Same one. Wasn't it amazing?
I’d be all over that!! ❤️❤️
Red Dwarf really is super under-represented for collectors. It still puzzles me why a company like Character Options hasn't made figures.
@@banzaibobA7V Ohhhhh MAN! Yes! They'd have field day with the Rimmer variants. Cat, too. I'd get two of Cat in the zebra trenchcoat to recreate the "Damn my vanity!" bit.
To any "fans" reading this thread, get on "doing the best work" on this property, PLEASE!
Setting strict parameters around a collection is a great way from going way overboard in any collection. I love Indiana Jones for the first three films. I couldn't pass on any Last Crusade sets. I wish they would do a tank from the third movie and his horse along with the vehicle carrying soldiers for that whole chase scene. I am planning on getting him and his dad and the plane. I hope at some point they do release another wave which includes the second film. I loved Short Round as a kid and I want him in the collection of top Indy characters.
Agreed re: parameters for a collection!
@@Luke101 that is really cool news. I so wanted to be like his character in The Goonies. All of his cool gadgets and stuff. I am happy he is finding new roles. He was so great in both movies.
As a huge LEGO Indiana Jones fanatic, I'm happily mindblown that you've made a video about it! Love it.
This is making me want to replay Lego Indiana Jones on my Xbox 360.
please someone find away to drag him farther down the Lego Indiana jones rabbit hole, I beg of you!
Great video Michael! Have fun with your Indiana Jones lego sets!
LEGO Star Wars, Batman, and Indiana Jones were my Kenner lines if you will.
Building the Temple of the Golden Idol right now. The original is one I’ve always wanted.
LEGO HQ-“I told you we would hook him!”Love that you jumped on these sets!
I think it's awesome you're doing more Lego stuff.
Mr. Retro Blasting. The “Retroblasting Productions” special effects is AMAZING! It makes me excited for the new video, and toy collecting! GREAT WORK! 👍🏼🙏👏🏼💪🏼🥋
You’re the first one I thought of when I saw how all the Indys from these sets were directly based on the Indys in the exact scenes they were depicting. Gloves on the Well of Souls Indy, a long tie on the Crusade plane chase Indy, etc.
At 1:48, kind of funny how Michael describes Lego in the same way drugs are described, I thought it was pretty funny
Awesome vid! Your attention to detail and noticing little things like the belt are are one of the reasons I continue to enjoy your channel.
I kinda wish Hasbro made 4 inch scale figures like they did back in 2008. I am curious how those 6 inch scale figures look.
Lego has naming problems, Boba Fett's ship is one that springs to mind.
That's sadly not just a Lego thing, that's now the entire standard for Slave-1 toys.
I heard that mandate came straight from disney. Plus it was always called slave 1 in every earlier lego set unlike the well of souls
I love your videos, this one for some reason made me laugh, great review, thanks for your hard work Micheal, and here's wishing you a great year in 2023
My son had the Last Crusade boat chase set, was a great toy with the exploding boat
This is definitely a better version of the lego set than the 1st time around
I was a part of your 11,000 membership subscription increase. I enjoy hearing your thoughts on toys and the community that comes with it.
Michael: *Buys a few Indian Jones Lego sets*
Me: "One of us! One of us! One of us!"
I've been a fan of Lego for years and I recently watched the Indiana Jones trilogy and now I'm a huge fan and made a almost completely screen accurate German car with turret from the movie.
By staggering coincidence, I just replayed the _Lego Indy video game_ today.
One detail that bothers me about the new sets is that Lego have gone to all the trouble of making all the Indy minifigs individual, but Henry Jones, Sr. is still wearing the pith helmet he had in 2008.
In the game, he's got the proper grey tweed bucket hat from the film, so I don't know why they couldn't have tooled that for the new line. Otherwise, it unavoidably makes him look like *Dr. Kilroy* from the old _Lego Adventurers_ line - which, incidentally, was inspired by *Indiana Jones.* 😂 Oh, the circles we draw.
I am not a lego person myself and don't own any, and the only ones I had were from the late 70s and long gone and very basic legos, but I have to agree that they are doing much better work on Indy than Hasbro has shown in recent years..great video.
I know how you feel about the LEGO rabbit hole. I just finished the Horizon Tall Neck set, the Optimus Prime set, and the Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary sets are coming in June.
I'd like to imagine someone at Lego saw your video(s) or was directed to it and thought "yeah.. we can do better"
This whole 2023 line is great not only in terms of indy spirit but as a lego theme. You can get all 3 sets for 150 on sale and the design is awesome
5:05 the band is actually not painted, but the same plastic as the hair! Within the last decade or so lego more and more frequently has made pieces that are dual-molded with two separate colors of plastic. This allows pieces to have greater detail, and of course, unlike paint there's no risk of it being scratched off over time!
Always watchable AND informative.
lego videos can be turn into a really dangerous drinking game: Take a shot whenever someone says "minifigure".
I really hope they release that Temple of Doom set
Well articulated. Good call on buying 2 sets of the well of souls. Show us the set up when built
Welcome to the AFOL Club Michael :) Love your work always and especially when you cover Lego now and then.
the LEGO Sets were my first contact with Indiana Jones, and the videogame. The new sets look interesting
now i have to get this because it has a bionicle refrince
One of us! One of us! One of us!
One never knows when the "Lego-mania" will strike, but it will strike. Stay strong!
If you do purchase the Race for the Stolen Treasure set. You should try and acquire the motorbike and side car from the Motorcycle Chase set, along with two versions of the German figure of that one came with it. The lot would then stand in for the one we see escorting the Ark, before Indy runs it off the road.
If you combine the original 08 indy trousers with the crusade tie torso, you have even more screen accurate indy. The trouser belt is correct for crusade!
Welcome my friend. Youve taken your first step into a larger world. Once you get curious and purchase a Star Wars set... yea its over.
I gotta say though, if you are getting the first two sets, you might as well get the third Last Crusade set. There will be no more LEGO Indiana Jones sets after this wave. (at least according to a reliable source) You could get a VIP discount (if you have a vip program and enough points) or wait for it to go on sale.
"Too bad you don't speak Lego... uh, I mean, Hovitos, Dr. Jones."
"Yeah, but I guarantee you I speak better Indiana Jones than you do, Brick Jockey."
@@retroblasting Sorry Michael, that wasn't meant to be a mean, snarky comment. I was just trying to think of something funny Belloq might say. Sorry about the phrasing of that. I love your content, and tip my fedora to your knowledge of Henry Jones, Jr.
I personally love the 2008 Well of Souls set more. So much playability and a ton of snakes!
All the Lego snakes you could ever ask for! well, expect for snake people...
I’ve been getting Lego sets since 2008, I’m 18 now and you’re definitely right about Lego being a lifestyle. I’ve only ever really collected Star Wars but I’ve gotten a couple sets from other themes ( I only had 1 of the Indiana jones sets) and now I really want to get other sets from other themes but there is just soooo much stuff I want to buy now. From Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and now Indiana Jones makes a comeback, and then I first started watching Retroblasting about a year ago and all the Star Wars follies and I’ve been slowly buying some old vintage Kenner Star Wars stuff( My dad had Kenner as a kid and he thinks it’s really cool to see some of the stuff he didn’t even know existed like the micro collection) One day I’m just gonna need a room in my house to just keep all of my Lego and action figures.
Brickmania did a Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark truck chase and it sold out it had both accurate truck and car with both the guns and figures
Once you walk the lego path forever will it effect your collecting destiny
I've been on the lookout for that Well of Souls. You actually did what I plan to do. I really just want a complete Well of Souls display.
Heh, welcome to the Lego Indy club. I collected the whole line back in the day, and started customizing my own versions of characters who never got actual figs. Was so much fun.
I'm wondering 2 things about this line
1. Will lego be allowed to acknowledge crystal skull
2. I wonder if we'll get any temple of doom stuff before they flood the line with dial of destiny sets
Harrison Ford came into my restaurant last night. My friend waited on him in a section we share. Never been so jealous of a coworker before.
Cool!
Cool callback to the wayback machine of Mr. Peabody and the Rocky and Bullwinkle show.
Great video, I'm also tempted by the Indiana Jones Lego theme. I plan on picking up these sets later this year, and I really appreciate the details you shared comparing the new mini figures to what was released years ago. I hope if they make more sets, we will see at least the same level of love and detail.
I wonder if the reason for why they gave him the leather belt came from old concept art from raiders. If you look up the pictures, Indiana Jones is distinctly wearing 2 leather belt in them. Now, it may not make much sense as to why they would do this as they have the perfect reference material from the movies, but it might just give us the answer for this reason. Idk that's what I think happened. Feel free to discuss
"And take back one kadam to honour the Lego god whose toy this is." ;)
Michael! Happy to see you dive into the Indy sets. I would try and be patient though! I know once you catch the Lego bug it’s easy to wanna get everything, but I would try and wait.
Lego will most likely continue the line next year with more remade and new sets.
Lego does what Hasbron’t. I know not as catchy as Genesis does what Nintendon’t, but real accurate.
Great video - part of me regrets not expanding my collection into Indiana Jones items. With that said I'm really looking forward to Michael and others analysis of Dial of Destiny when it comes out! Moreso than the actual movie 😂
Cool new intro!
The new Indy gloved figure is very good - but I just wish the gloves were the yellow moleskin US GI style that were in the film , they would look MUCH better !
Great video! If LEGO ever made a Raiders Indy in the 12 inch buildable technic style, I can only imagine the scrutiny it would receive from you, which would be very entertaining. With an increased scale there would be no excuse for error on the small details.
Nice. In 2008 I had the temple run set. It was great, it tried to add all the features of that scene. Hopefully the upgrade set will be all that it was and more. I hope you have fun building it.
Great video 🎉
LOL I just got the lost souls set and definitely thought of you when I saw the gloves.
When i got back into Lego I said I was going to only do Batman sets only and now I collect almost every theme they have except friends and city
Welcome to the cult of LEGO, Michael! There’s no way out now! (But that’s a good thing!)
Good Grief! Michael has fallen down a rabbit hole!
I guess you could say “hats off to new Lego Indy”
Loving the indecisive yet onboard kinda-sorta on the sets you gave. 😆😆😆
We know you collect but it's always nice to see other collectors get into that conundrum it makes you feel that you're not alone!
😆😆😆😆😆😆❤️💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have my figure collection and a separate Lego room. With figures I hunt for them and display them, but there's not much else to do. Lego is the toy I can actually spend time with. Plus my kids are Lego obsessed, so it's family time. What I'm saying is you can do both.
If you were to get the old temple of doom do it now as it’s going up in price because the new set was “cancelled”
the Lego sycophants finally get some fresh blood lol. Good luck on your adventure Michael, whether you skirt the rabbit hole or plummet into it head first. Great vid and some amazing detail on some of those figs and sets!
“Once you start down the Lego path forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will…” Lego Yoda
I hope Lego makes that tank from Last Crusade
Inadvertently buying Lego is indeed a slippery slope
Come to the dark side, Michael. We have bricks.
Lego is like Plastic Meth if you're not careful you'll end up with a $800 AT-AT walker.
Oh god, they got him!
I really love these sets. I am a collector of lego and other toy lines such as Gi Joe and Kenner Star Wars and I definitely think there can be a balance between collecting legos and other lines but it does get in the way of getting other things since I am more involved in lego than other toy lines. Just to give you my two cents on that.
good luck i was only going to collect lego pirate sets then it became lego batman then modular sets then star wars. any theme is a gateway drug into full blown lego addiction.
Speaking as an Adult Fan of Lego for the past 12 years... welcome to the fold!
For me it's the classic Castle sets, circa Black Knights. My first castle Lego set was the Black Knight horse and minifigure micro set with weapons. So, when I saw a creator set with the Black Falcons, I had the blessing to pick up two on clearance just as my Wal-Mart was pulling them from the shelves. And, then there was the minifigure collection that had a knight in the old Cheese Castle livery. And, more recently a figure set that not only came with orks/trolls but a Black Falcon lady falconer, with falcon.
My other love is Space in and around the first run of space police. I kinda miss my Futuron sets. Combining those with my uncles vintage Space Legos has an appeal for me.
But, I get the reluctance. I don't quite have the shelf/table space for them. And, my focus is largely on wargaming scale figurines for scifi games (specifically BattleTech). So, I can't really justify filling in with 3.5 or 4 inch action figure lines, even though I have a love for those and GI Joe, either. I get more use out of the gaming figures than anything else. Lego Castle is at least compatible with Role-playing to some degree.
I've been from action figs down the lego rabbit hole. I got out, because you will never have enough lego to do what you really want.
I might have to get some of the sets. I had the flying wing back in the day.
Now that you’ve acquired like 98% of every action figure you’ve ever wanted, there’s no harm in delving into Lego a little bit… just only buy what you really want, not extra stuff to complete a line. It’s like with video games… everybody starts out wanting a full set of Nintendo carts but eventually after tons of time and money, realize they’re just happy with their 100 favorite titles out of the almost 700 game collection.
As a seasoned collector though, I’m sure you probably already know this 🤔
I got rid of every single Lego out of my house until you started posting Lego videos, and you dragged me back into the hobby 😂
I stuck to the 90th anniversary sets though and picked up a few vintage mini figures and I’m 100% happy with just that stuff
I'm getting the plane chase set. I missed out on the original version and it's easily one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite movies.
I had the idol ruin set. Also got all 13 crystal skulls. They're spare parts now.
Gotta say, I do prefer the original Indy minifigure because, while I don't think it looks that much like Harrison Ford, he looks EXACTLY like my dad. I do like how the new one reminds me of the old TT prototype minifigure.
My favorite one is the Last Crusade one.
........................Congrats..... I guess?
@@retroblasting Sorry, just felt like stating that.
on the bright side (for you) it doesn't seem like LEGO is going to be making more Indy sets after these and the ones made to tie-in to Indy 5. Or at least, we don't have any rumors that the line will continue past that.
Not that this video wasn’t already fantastic, but any time you include that “son of a b..” clip, I always laugh my @ss off!
Man, I was hoping you would finally talk about Lego Indy!
Cool production Michael
Was not a Lego person myself, until my sister dumped her kids 40g tube of Lego on my doorstep.
Now I buy set time to time and enjoy putting them together.
Keep up the awesome video
Please do reviews of the sets!
I would absolutely love to watch you analyze Lego Han Solo he in the original Star Wars sets doesn’t even have the right chest print and lack of dual molded legs you should totally cover Lego Star Wars!
The temple of doom wasn't "officially" cancelled so there's hope we'll see it this summer!
The new Lego Indy looks a bit like you making a puzzled look on his alternate face from Well of Souls
6:25 I love the new Malibu Indy doll by Lego. It has a new hat. :)
#Smithers
Im going to get a few hasbro figs just for my ML Cap to fight. But im always a lego boy.
