Today we are taking a look at every Lego Indiana Jones set that has been released in the main line series since 2008. I will provide my personal thoughts and opinions and rank each lego set on a subjective basis. Hello Everyone! Let me know what you thought of the new ranking system, I am interested in hearing your thoughts!
Great system, a lot better than other lego youtubers use, very enjoyable content! And although I ain't no archeologist but calling them Anubis statues sphinxes , come on :D Great videos anyways, thank you for the content!
@@gergoszabo492 thank you for the compliments! Yeah people have commented on the Anubis and I caught the mistake in editing but was like screw it everyone’s human haha
I felt that the older set is amazing. The flying wing is my personal favorite
@@HavardCastiglioni the older sets are nice but dang sorry for the how low I ranked the flying wing lmao
Great video but where did get the picture of the waterfall?
The Temple of Doom set is simply amazing. 1. Tons of exclusive figures. 2. Tons of exciting and hidden play features. 3. It looks amazing on display especially with its glow in the dark features. 4. Temple of Doom is an amazing movie despite what people complain about it, and most of those complaints don’t even make sense.
Good points!
Yeah, sounds like he didn't like the movie.
@@lbricks7631 It is my least liked movie of the original trilogy. However, as shown in the video, I ranked it a 7/21 and the other objective statistics being value and desirability, which are all number based, is where the set came in low and therefore made it to where it was on the list.
It’s the best out of them all!
I had the set as a kid. Still have the peices to this day!
I think the idea behind the "peril in Peru" set was that it was supposed to be based on a scene that was going to be in crystal skull, but it ended up not making the final cut. It's a shame we never got to have a set based on the plane from temple of doom though. It would've been cool to get a feature where it could drop a raft like the scene in the movie
Oh nice insight and yeah that would have been dope for sure!
Maybe lego will make it in the future 😏
@@brickafide if they continue the theme
I really liked the look of the flying wing so I had one as a kid, but a major problem with it is its flimsiness. Certain sections would easily fall due to light bumping.
I believe you! I could definitely see that being an issue after relooking at the set images
I’m still mad they cancelled the new Temple of Doom, that looked like such an improvement
I do believe it was going to be good but yeah I do think it is a little bit much of a scene for Lego to make, at least going off their published morals.
@brickafide the new last crusade set is literally a nazi plane.
The river chase kit was one I always wanted as a kid.
The vehicle is a GPA, which the US gave to the Soviets in ww2 and they copied.
The fact that they had them in the movie was cool to me, but as a kid I was crazy for this set
The Cairo small set is incredibly accurate to the movie.
Sure it is, I don’t think I said it wasn’t but just the build isn’t something I care for!
Yeah, the new Temple Escape should be the best with the original Temple Escape as number two.
Its nice to know the two lowest retail sets, Cairo and the fighter plane, were the only two sets I had as a kid.
Still love those sets, though I completely agree with your criticisms
Hey sorry for that haha 😅
If I really wanted to get the original LEGO Indiana Jones sets from 2008-2009 it will be 5 sets. (In my opinion)
1.LEGO Temple of the Crystal Skull
2.LEGO Temple of Doom
3.Lego Shanghai Chase
4.LEGO Race For The Stolen Treasure
5.LEGO Jungle Cutter
I love watching these videos because I like to hear your rankings and reasonings and it is also very fun to see all of the sets that Lego had made for a certain theme
You're correct, that's my reasoning for making them as well!
Temple of doom will always be my fav
Nice!
For #5, It's an amphibious vehicle. Sub-aquatic vehicles would be a submarine type vehicle.
The Flying Wing is a great set. That large piece is from one of Lego's previous planes from that time. What alot of aFol's don't know is Lego reuses many pieces to keep costs down as much as possible. The Flying Wing isn't exactly all accurate but it's a major fight scene and the kit includes everything from that famous scene. It's a 8 out of 10 from Indy fans and Lego collectors. You got that one too low.
I can tell you are a true fan, by your YT name alone, but a list is all subjective opinions. It’s not an inaccurate set, nor was it a bad scene, I just don’t like the set. I think it’s kind of ugly in the way lego designed it
Cool video!
Thank you!
The original Raiders of the Lost Ark Temple was my favorite Indiana Jones set growing up. I have the new version on order along with the other two new sets from LEGO’s revisiting of the theme. Hopefully, we get more new Indiana Jones sets after the three we got.
Definitely, I think there is plenty of content and room in the Lego Line-up to produce a few more sets. Likely a good few will come from the new movie!
The Indiana Jones motorcycle chase was my first Lego set ever. My dad got it for my birthday when I was 6. For my 22nd birthday yesterday he got me the new 2023 fighter plane chase set.
That’s an epic story!
Great video! But if you could only buy one between the new escape from the lost tomb or the also new fighter plane chase set… which one would you buy?
Oooh that’s a hard one! But for me I would go the fighter plane chase because they are classic WW2 style vehicles which we never get in lego and they scale well with a LEGO city scale.
Ambush in Cairo should be at least at top 10. Incredible price, good figs, iconic scene, high desirability and rare pieces (big barrel, gold bowl, smg and more). I missed this set when I was a kid. One of my biggest regrets. Give me one good reason, why it's so low!
Also the original well of souls should be at bottom. No exclusive figs and the new one is just better with better build, figs and price.
Otherwise I agree more or less. Great somewhat objective ranking!
For me it has great figures and while I like figures, building lego is my favorite part and the builds in Cairo just are anything that I would be interested to build. I find those types of small side builds are just things that clutter up displays and get lost. That’s why I gave it a low ranking on my opinion
@@brickafide ok, but why are the jungle duel and motorcycle chase so high up then? They are both clearly worse than ambush in Cairo
@@ismovirtanen7225 pause the video at the end when I show the whole spreadsheet. Their value and aftermarket price increase must just be higher, without looking back at it myself
@@brickafide ok, that is true
It hurts me in my stomach that I missed out on so many sets with the original theme. I wish Lego could/would re release them somehow but then the whole resell game would collapse on itself lol
Yeahhhh it’s a difficult situation.. and sometimes you got to think, would you want the old sets if they were super cheap? Sometimes there’s a certain desire because it is so expensive
resellers losing money is a win in my book, not gonna lie.
Great video would be cool to see you do some rankings for the Star Wars theme!
I have definitely thought about it but it’s a daunting task because there’s so many sets!
@@brickafide separate them by era (all prequel, all original, clone wars etc)
@@Monsterboy1199 very true!
Im very glad the new German plane chase set and escaped from the lost tomb I'm planning to get temple of the Golden idol cross fingers on desert chase set
Nice!
I remember getting the original Golden Idol Temple set for learning to ride my bike with no training wheels 😂 jeez time flies
Nice, that’s a great story!
Nice Video
Thank you!
Knowing a little about Indiana jones and the temple of doom it seems the reception is similar to the lost world Jurassic park (Jurassic park 2) with bad launch reception and people warming up to it recently I love tlw
This the content I’m tryna see!
Well stick around because there's other like it on the channel and more to come!
I was in 4th grade when raiders came out, it's definately a kids movie.
You should add more weight in terms of ranking to your personal opinion and less weight to the other 2 categories. Ex. 70% weighting for your opinion, 15% for value, 15% for aftermarket
Thanks for the suggestion!
I really enjoyed this video. I Also remember with joy the old good lego Indiana Jones sets.
Thanks for the compliment! I appreciate it
The Temple Akator large set you're looking at it from the back.
I have this too. You gotta' see it from the front. Looks excellent.
I paused halfway through the video and spent 4 hours finding all my mini figs and I can't believe I have some of the more sought after old ones
That’s awesome man! Thanks for sharing
I like the new fighter plane set because german plane looks really good in it
It does!
@@brickafide I'm a sucker for ww2 vehicles and weapons
@@codman4372wx same
The original lost tomb set was my very first ever set from Lego. Little did I know the absolute get it would be
Lego Indy has always had un uphill battle
With its historical and World War connotation and assosciation it's hard to get standout scenes and vehicles without violating a lot of Lego's terms
There's no way we will ever get a Tank Chase set for The Last Crusade
“I didn’t know you could fly a plane”
“Fly? Yes! Land? No!”
Classic
had the truck chase definitely one of the best cus as a kid u loved the treasure chest with the gems and coins
I can see that!
I had the Venice canal chase when I was a kid. Probably the biggest and most expensive set my parents gifted me I loved that set and loved the movie. Lego was what got me into Indiana Jones
Nice and that's not a bad way to get into Indy!
The original lost tomb was the first lego set I ever got new
I always wanted that fight on the flying wing set as a kid so bad lol, it hurts my soul to see it so low
Oh man, sorry about that!
My fave go Indi set is prob the peril in Peru or the last crusade set with both planes
Nice
I have the SDCC kit. Only $50 and it's a super desirable set. Traded for it at that show.
It does look decent when all built.
Oh man. The nostalgia
It’s great, isn’t it!
The Plane is from the video game. The Lego Indiana Jones game. The second one. Not as good as the first Indy Lego game.
That's where the plane's from. An opening sequence where the plane crashes on an island. Indy survives, gets to shore and then you go into the game with all the puzzle levels.
Thanks for the valuable information!
I didnt really like when you added the boat chase at 10 i honestly would put it at 1 if i made the video but still great video
The plane in number 18 was from the temple of doom
The fighter plane set is my favorite.
the tank woulda been fire
I wish I could go back in time and buy all the sets I couldn't get as a kid //:
Same but we didn’t have money as kids and now there are too dang expensive to get as adults
In the movie with he was saving his dad, I don’t remember my movie names well but in that movie they went to Berlin and the funny part is indana jones dressed as a high ranked German officer and Hitler was doing signings and he got his dads book signed
Yep, that was a very weird part for sure and after rewatching the movies for this list, I definitely didn’t remember that part from years previous
That Crystal Skull small set with tent should've been ranked way down on the list, plus the Chauchilla set should be down too.
the 1:00 set is also so random to make a lego set of since it is one of the most brutal movie scenes in all of indiana jones
Very true haha
6:33 From personal experience I can say that it is a great playset. Only "weird" thing is the sewer grate.
I guess that is a little strange huh
Temple of doom was a great movie
This is cool
Thank you! There’s more to come from different theme’s!
@@brickafide ok 👍
@@frantheman9427 there’s some themes right now in my ranked list playlist that you can check out but I’m working on like 3 more as we speak
@@brickafide okay! I will be sure to check it out.
Honestly I love the Indiana jones theme. It’s one of the few Lego themes where you can get Lego classic cars and trucks.
Exactly! One of my favorite reasons as well!
I have a part from the cancelled temple of doom it’s a micro figure voodoo doll
Oooo spoookyyy
Do Lego power miners next
That could be on in the future but I don’t think it will be next at the moment
@@brickafide I'm a patient man, I'll drop a sub and notifs so I can be here for it
@@ChristochatBTW Thanks! I appreciate it!
I don’t understand why LEGO never made a grial knight set
Yeah, I really don't know
The thing that annoys me about the car in the 2023 plane chase set is the color of the fenders. The fenders in the set are black, whilst the fenders on the car in the movie are white.
True and lol, I always love when people use the word “whilst”
Hold up I think reason the planes ranked lower the the tent is bc no one bought the tent so there are less of them to buy on after market making it more sought after?
Most likely the case. A lot of desirable sets end up not being the ones that sold all that well!
Nice video but I think you've released it too early, should've waited til after the 5th movie's set's came out.
There can always be an update! 😉
The sets that I had owned were 15/14/12/11/8/5/1
Nice! I am building quite a collection myself!
Guys we could get new Lego with the new movie coming out I just realised that.
The new temple of the coven ark kinda disappointed me because the Hieroglyphs on the walls look as a child draw them whereas the original temple wasn’t that accurate but managed to create some of the best Hieroglyphs that where ever made in my opinion. I would like another remake of the Lego System adventure series with Johnny Thunder. I got a used Sphinx as a child and it was one of my favourite sets and went really well along with my Indiana Jones Sets.
Good Points here and a remake would be dope!
Lol watching Indiana jons now😂
Nice. Just rewatched them almost twice in preparation of this list!
Ty for comiting on my comint ty so so much 🥹
Just subscribed Ty Ty Ty so so so so much🥹
I never did get any Indiana Jones sets and I wish I had atleast one :/
That’s a shame but there’s 3 sets out now that you can get!
You should also rank the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit sets
I will 😁
@@brickafide Looking forward to it :)
The Temple of Doom set is a tremendous kit. No one cares about the rating from the movie. It was 1984. People and kids weren't soy boys back then.
I have it on display, it looks great.
I don't like the minifigures of the remake. I prefer the simplicity of the earlier sets
I got number 6
Nice!
Weird ass list bro I don’t think I agreed with a single pick but we’ll done video and I respect your opinion:)
No, no no your first two you lost it man. LOL. Holy cow.
I love those two sets but the two Temple Escapes are the number one and two.
Oh boy. Bwhaahaha.
Those are Anubis statues, not sphinxes. Also the other set had an amphibious vehicle, not a subaquatic vehicle (which would be more like a submarinne).
I believed I was spot on with the subaquatic vehicle at the time, but I for sure knew during editing that those weren't sphinxes and it was hard not to re-record the section. Cringe haha
@@brickafide Subaquatic literally translates to underwater. Amphibious means both land and water, which the vehicle in that set clearly was since it had wheels but also a hull shape for traveling on the water's surface. 9:09 was the timestamp I think. "Subaquatic" kind of works as a description since in terms of biology it means something that doesn't live entirely on land or entirely in water, such as plants and creatures in an intertidal zone or wading birds or hippos. It doesn't really matter, everyone knew what you mean, I'm just pedantic. Excellent overview of the different sets.
I respect the effort but this ranking system ain’t it tho lolll
I respect the comment but you didn’t come up with a solution to your own problem, soooooo….
Why do you have to ignore the child slavery in temple of doom? Who’s it offensive too? Child slavers?
i am npot doing thart stanforth gangn unite
“I’m starting to think the ranking system is flawed” bro you made the ranking system.
1:08 I understand Lego is being, ‘kid friendly’ but the really got rid of the propeller on the front when in the scene the whole point of the plane was the mechanic getting chopped up, if Lego can’t do things like this to be kid friendly then don’t make sets out of the movie at all
Sorry, but there isn’t a propeller on the front of the plane in the movie, there’s only 2 rear ones, which are present in this set. The mechanic gets shredded by the planes back right propeller.
What the heck, the new Escape from the Lost Tomb was number 2?
Since the new ones are not retired but have been quite popular, and I think they will do good in the future aftermarket, I gave all three of the new ones a modified rank of 9 out of 21 in the spreadsheet system for desirability
The original Lost Tomb / Well of Souls set from 2008 features a Star Wars hieroglyphics wall of R2-D2 and C-3PO!
Yes! I did a YT Short on that!
So does the new one! You’ll notice it in some hieroglyphics on the arc’s archway
@@der144 Yep! I also did a Hidden Details SHORT on this subject!
You have some never by putting crappie remakes in the top ten.
today i went to target and was so tempted to buy the raiders set. but the box was ruined. Also i’m broke. but had enough for it 😞
Yeah. You gotta hold our for a good box especially if your looking for a upper class experience, which lego is trying to be with their prices
Fight on a plane set got violated with its placement
I still feel it is justified in my opinion. I just really don't think it was done too well.
@@brickafide your point is valid and completely understandable. But I can’t help having a soft spot for it and plenty of people I know have it to
“I really think the new system is flawed.”
My guy it’s your system. Really like some of your analysis but I would have really preferred it if it had just been based on your opinion - the amount of money a grifter can now sell this for shouldn’t affect the score this much! Good stuff but a weird way of doing it
It was an experiment on a new system. Value or desirability (i.e., current after market price as an increase in percentage of original price) would be a good indication of popularity of a set versus the others. That was a way to bring others opinions into the ranking system. But yeah it was too much work and people seem the like the good ole' this is my opinion setup which I have since went back to.
All the 2008 OG Lego Indy sets are awesome! i feel like you gave an unfair rank to these sets
Everything was built on a system: Valve-Desirability-My thoughts
Never rate again 🔥
11:15 "the large sphinxes" ouch, that hurt to hear. those are jackals, more accurately Anubis depictions. He's one of the most known gods of ancient egypt, so i am surprised how that error happened. Sphynx is a mythological mixture of a cat body and a woman's head. Sometimes winged.
Yeah, I caught that in editing. Wasn't thinking in voice over. Everyone makes mistakes here and there 😅
This ranking system is a little… Poop de la scoop, to say the least.
Hey at least this made me laugh. Any suggestions then?
I think this ranking is one of the worst opinions I’d ever seen… however I respect your opinion. Definitely extremely passionate about this theme and while I get some of your points I just think objectively the new golden idol set out classes the old one bar none. I own both and they just don’t compare… the exact same can be said for the lost tomb. I own both old and new and the new one is just so much better
Agreed!
If you paid attention to the ranking system explanation at the beginning, and the ranks throughout, I did rate the new golden ideal number 1 in my own opinion. The other two metrics are purely objective statistics of value and desirability.
You say that ''in the film the flying wing isn't even flying'' but they call it a flying wing bc of the design of the aircraft, not because its airborne. Just wanted to point that out
I got a sealed jungle duel for £42.35 😳
Very Cool!
Forget the politics temple of doom set is top 5
I'm glad that it is your list because I don't agree with a single one 😂😅
Knew it would be controversial so that’s why I added 2/3 columns as objective ranks.
I have to say that I really don’t get the new ranking system, it just doesn’t seem logical to me as prices of old Lego sets oftentimes soar with no apparent reason.
One thing that makes me scratch my head is the new ark. Sure, it looks goods, but not only it is not shiny it's also inaccurate - poles to pick up the ark should be brown (wooden)
I can see that angle
Lol there is nothing to compare. Old sets have better bricks quality, better set's story; are more playable, there is more action, more interesting, more details.
Btw I ordered sets twice directly from LEGO but they always sent me damaged boxes. How many times I exchanged scrached bricks with them and only of the one set, I think the record was 14 xD
Dang, that is really unfortunate to have happened to you.
No existe el PG-14 mccain
Yeah... The documentary had Harrison Ford say PG-14 which is where I got the statement when recording voiceover but then when I searched the web for an imagine in the video during editing the articles said PG-13. So I think Harrison just misspoke.
Puro verbo
I enjoy Lego but good god the community is irritating. These are still meant to be toys for children. Exclusive minifigures, increases in price, and display aren’t what kids care about. They’re called PLAYsets. I just wish context would be added. These sets are cool man. As a kid, I would’ve loved a lot of these. An adult rating Lego sets is like someone within a license rating drivers ed: it’s not the target audience.
You don't have to watch the video. It's pretty clear what it's about from the title.
Your
Opinions are weird
Thank you
